Chapter 11
Disclaimer: I don't own digimon or anything related to it. I do own some of the OCs that will appear later on and also some of the digimon designs. I intend to use all ten legendary spirits and have created designs for four extra spirits.
Note: Sorry for being so late. I was really busy these last few weeks. I wanted to post two weeks ago but couldn't finish it and then last week but still couldn't. I am also at the point where I am starting to write instead of just editing already written chapters. Sometimes it happens that I write something and then decide to put it somewhere else. So there is that
I don't have any intention of discontinuing the story. It might take a while but I will keep writing.
As a reminder: I am taking some stuff from adventure Tri.
Hope you like it.
Such a long wait! Yet he could remember clear as a cloudless sky, the day he decided to start it all. It seemed so far away at the moment.
Sometimes, he doubted himself. He considered that he might be hoping for far too much, but today as his gaze held the sight of three humans trapped in the glass tubes with their digimon partners, it didn't seem that impossible. Their auras flowing through the circuit, helping him, was telling him how close he was to his goals.
There were still doubts, but now he knew that he could succeed. These three were just the beginning. No one would come in his way! Neither these three nor the rest!
Soon he will have another one. He won't have wait for long as the sound of footsteps announced their arrival, "What took you so long?"
"Some people care more about their bellies than work!" His calm voice echoed in the room.
"Our next targets were Yamato Ishida and Ken Ichijoji. But the teleporter isn't in working condition to catch Ken's digivice."
"Then, we will use the tractor portal! We have more than enough energy to use tractor portal for one person."
Talk about being out of the blue. Or as Junpei would have rather liked to say: out of the red.
Yes! Red!
The day had been going quite ordinarily till now. Well, as ordinary as it can get after the night of invasion by other-dimensional creatures. There was a lot less activity. And by a lot, less: means almost nothing. People had practically deserted roads, and an eerie silence had hung over the markets. Now that the people were quiet, everything else seemed a lot louder. Junpei was sure he never heard of as many sounds of the birds in his entire life as he heard in one morning. Listening to those chirping, churring, chirruping of birds instead of sounds of busy city horns, thought quite soothing, was highly unusual. Still, nothing extraordinary seemed to be happening anytime soon.
Having a lovely morning didn't mean they could relax. There were significant setbacks. Losing two strong evolutions, along with the ability to use the beast-spirits, was a blow.
"Imagine if a digimon of the royal knight level attacked!" Koji mentioned.
"We will be like insects to them," Tomoki replied.
"Hey!" Junpei protested, "Insects are pretty tough!" Why is it always insects?
"Unless you step on them!" Tomoki raised his foot and slammed on earth
Some people are just too full of themselves. Aren't they?
"Well, we have more people this time around," Izumi stated. "Those guys from yesterday are a big help,"
Oh yeah, there were those people from yesterday. Izumi had a point, but Junpei was skeptical. He doubted numbers would matter against someone as powerful as royal knights at their current level.
"I don't know. Those guys didn't seem like that tough to me," Takuya replied.
It was odd. It seemed like Takuya was trying to convince himself. Junpei couldn't help the grin on his face, "Hey, Takuya. Are you jealous?"
Takuya choked on what was his third can of cold drink, "W. . .wh...what j. . .jealous and me! I am not jealous! Why would I be jealous?"
The look on Takuya's face was priceless. As if someone just showcased his physics exam in public.
"Oh, come on, Takuya!" Tomoki said, poking Takuya in the shoulder with his elbow and a grin on his face, "Accept it. You are jealous because you think Ophanimon didn't call us again."
Takuya pushed Tomoki's arm away, "I am not jealous." He replied and started drinking his cold drink again.
"On a serious note, we have a big issue," Koji stated.
"What about other spirits?" Izumi asked, and Junpei gasped as he suddenly remembered about the spirits.
"What about them?" Takuya asked.
"Their symbols were in the portal: last night!" Junpei told him. Takuya and Tomoki both spit their drinks. Junpei flinched as cold drinks fell on Izumi.
"HEY!" Izumi yelled.
"WHAT?" Takuya asked.
Koji covered his ears, "Don't speak too loudly. I told you my fifth-rade t-"
"-Screw what your t-"
"I am talking here!" Izumi stated. Junpei was surprised she wasn't aflame.
"Why didn't anyone mentioned that before?" Tomoki asked, ignoring Izumi. Junpei had no idea how Tomoki does that, but he was glad he wasn't in the place of his friends.
"You didn't ask," Koji replied.
"You didn't remember, did you?" Takuya stated.
"Hmph!"
"Well, I forgot," Junpei replied.
Takuya grabbed his head and fell back against the tree, "Man, I hope I won't have t fight Mercurymon again!"
"Excuse me!" Izumi called once more, and Junpei flinched again.
"Will you calm down, Izumi? We have a situation here!"
"Yeah! You ruined my clothes!"
Oh great! Here they go again.
"Your clothes can wait!"
"What? You don't even know what to do about the other thing! That can wait."
"You mean your clothes are more important than I don't know, world-ending forces!"
"Now you are twisting my words!"
"I am twisting your words? Things are already too twisted for me to want to twist something else. Accept it you..."
Junpei sighed. It will take a while. When these two start, it's futile to interfere.
"There were just two dresses. You spent half an hour and still couldn't choose one!" Takuya stated.
"I did. I chose both!" Izumi snapped back.
"Exactly my point!"
"Leave my dresses out of this!"
"Okay. Let's go to your sho..."
Koji palmed his forehead, "Will you two stop bickering like an old couple?"
Koji might as well have stabbed him in the heart. Why did he have to compare them to an old couple! It wasn't the first time Koji had said something like this. At this point, Junpei didn't feel like he had any chance with Izumi.
Huh!
Anyway, things had been going quite ordinarily until-
Koji took out his cell phone. Junpei hoped it was a message from Koichi. He could use some answers right now. But the way Koji's brow knit didn't seem like good news. Junpei could also do without some bad-news right now!
"What's wrong?" Tomoki asked.
"Something is happening in Odaiba!" Koji replied.
"Odaiba!" Takuya and Izumi exclaimed.
The sky had turned red! Guess Koichi wasn't joking. Not that he ever joked about this kind of stuff anyway. It didn't take long to see the news on various TV channels.
"The weird creatures have once again appeared from the portals!" A female newscaster stated.
People were confused, and it was causing panic.
"What is going on in this country?" A male newscaster asked.
"Why did the sky turned red? Is this result of climate change?"
"Is it actually some and alien invasion?"
They had to deal with this as soon as possible, or Junpei feared the nation would fall into chaos. But first, they had to go to Odaiba. Trains and busses weren't going. Junpei and Izumi could fly, but the other three couldn't, and the former two could only take two with them.
"Wow!" Takuya, who was hanging from Blitzmon's feet, exclaimed as the redness sky came into view.
Blitzmon couldn't believe his eyes. Seeing this on TV was one thing and with his own eyes was another. It seemed like a set of some Hollywood movies from here. There were dense red clouds red strings of energy swing through the air. Blitzmon felt like he had traveled 3 billion years back in time and was seeing the primal sky with his eyes.
"W...what is going on here?" Kazemon asked.
"Seems like Mayan calendar missed by a few years!" Tomoki, who was hanging from Kzemon's feet, commented.
"If I didn't know any better, I would have thought that God has finally lost his patience with us!" Takuya added, "Look, Koji is down there."
Wolfmon was on the top of a skyscraper. The two hovering digimons descended.
"Did you see the portals?" Wolfmon asked.
"I saw one to the west!" Kazemon replied.
"And one in the north," Blitzmon added, "We should split,"
Since the moment he first entered digiworld, nothing has ever troubled Koshiro as the current situation. Nothing made sense since yes. . .okay, something had started to make sense, but it didn't mean the plausible explanation wasn't shocking. Shocking was too small of a word. Sometimes Koshiro wondered if he is going crazy.
Tentomon put a tray with two glasses of juice on the table, "Koshiro'ha, I brought juice for you!"
Still, what Koichi told them!
Three moons!
Three rulers!
Trailmons! Koshiro had never even heard of those things in digiworld: mind you! Though, now he wanted a thorough analysis.
There was only one explanation. Koshiro reached out his hand, took a glass of juice, and gulped it down in one swoop. The coolness spread through his chest and then to the rest of his body. Finally, his brain felt refreshed. He definitely needed it.
"Why don't you just calm down and sit," Tentomon suggested.
"I am worried," Koichi replied.
"There is no need. Everyone will be fine. These digimons aren't that strong." Koshiro replied.
"No, it's my mom," Koichi replied, "She was at work when I called her. I am worried about her. Who knows what's going to happen next," He sighed.
"I see. Where does your mom work?"
"Aqua city,"
Koshiro opened a map that showed Odaiba, "It's not close to any portal."
"See. Just calm down." Tentomon suggested.
"I guess!"
"Now sit here and drink this juice,"
"Thank you!"
"No need to thank me," Tentomon replied, "I was getting tired of watching you pacing around anyway,"
And then there was this weird phenomenon. Koshiro looked out of the window. The sky was still red, and it didn't seem like it plans to go back to normal anytime soon. The energy was unlike anything Koshiro had seen before. He clicked an icon, and a small window appeared on the screen. The graph in the middle had multiple curves, "Take a look at this!"
Tentomon hovered over Koshiro, "Did you figured it out?"
"Look at this, " Koshiro pointed to each curve, "It seemed like the curves are trying to sync as time passed. So the energy entering our world should be a leftover residue."
"What does this mean?" Koichi asked from over his shoulder, "Are these two energies coming from different places?"
"Yes, actually!" Koshiro gasped. They weren't just coming from two different places.
"Excuse me, Mr. Izumi..." Koichi said.
"...Call me, Koshiro,"
"You were going to say something earlier?" Koichi asked.
"I better confirm this with Ken first!" Koshiro replied. Other than Gennai, Ken was the only one who could guarantee him that he isn't crazy.
"Ken? You mean Ken Ichijoji?" Koichi asked, "He was there last night with us, right? Don't tell me he is also involved in this."
"That's him," Koshiro replied. There was a weird silence for some moments, so Koshrio turned his chair and found Koichi staring at him, "What?"
"Don't tell me you have digidestineds in government as well!"
Koshiro rubbed his chin. He didn't know about these guys, so there is a chance there are more, "It might be possible!" Koichi's jaw dropped.
"Wow, look at this. It's raining digidestineds these days!" Tentomon commented.
"I'd say!" Koichi replied. A 'Beep' sound broke the flow f the conversation, "That's..." He fished out a device, like a D3, from his pocket. Koichi gasped.
"Is something wrong?" Koshiro asked. The device was pulling his eyes like a magnet. Right now, he just wanted to examine it.
"It's Cherubimon!" Koichi looked toward Koshiro, "If I press the wrong combination, I can mess up the connection."
"Let's connect it to my laptop!" Koshiro spun his chair around and connected the USB cable t his laptop. The detector, as Koichi called it, was a fascinating device. It had some functionalities that D3s didn't have, and some it lacked. For example, it didn't have the gate function or the ability to hold digiegg but had a scanner, maps, and communication capabilities. There was something else that piqued Koshiro's interest. A lot of space, but it didn't seem like it was directly in the detector, and Kuwagamon's data was there. It might help him with one of his current problems. But it seemed like they are hard to access and have complicated button patterns. With the help of his laptop, he was able to bypass that problem.
"Cherubimon!" Koichi exclaimed as soon as the white bunny digimon appeared on the screen.
"Hey, you co..." Cherubimon broke off, "Wait a minute. I can see you!"
"Yeah. Thanks to Koshiro."
"Koshiro," Cherubimon glanced at the redhead, "So you are that brat, Gennai was taking so highly of!"
"Gennai!" Koshiro exclaimed. Finally, someone would tell his theory is right, and he isn't crazy! Though, it begs the question: what if Gennai rejected that theory. "Can I talk to him?"
"Not yet. The conditions aren't right. The only reason I could contact you is that the side product energy entering your world isn't that strong."
That brought Koshiro's excitement down a notch. He wanted answers from Gennai.
"Anyway. Where was I? Ah, yes!" He glared at Koichi, "You coward!"
"Cherubimon, calm down." Koichi replied, waving his hands in front f him, "There is a perfectly reasonable explanation for this."
What are they talking about? Koshiro looked toward his partner, who seemed as clueless as him.
"Yeah, reasonable: my foot!"
"It's serious!"
"You realize how serious that is, or should I bother explaining?"
"Calm down, Cherubimon! Let him talk." A female voice came as a masked humanoid digimon appeared behind Cherubimon. Koshiro wondered what separated these two from other of their kind to become digiworld's rulers.
"I know," Koichi sighed, "But it's not that e..." He looked toward Koshiro and Tentomon, "Oh, sorry!"
"It's alright. Just pretend we are not here!" Tentomon replied, "Though, you were doing a good job at it already. What are you guys talking about, anyway?"
"Listen," Cherubimon addressed, "I know you must have some issues, but this is important."
"I think this is enough, Cherubimon. You are too harsh on him," Ophanimon stated, "Koichi, there is no force. You can take your time."
"No, he can't."
"I know!" Koichi replied and looked away, "I will try!"
As much as Koshiro wanted to know what they were talking about, he had other issues, "Can you help us with what's going on?"
"Yeah, but first thing first," Cherubimon turned to Koichi, "We lost the spirit of steel."
"Oh, no!" Koichi said.
"Oh, yes!"
"I didn't know this was supposed to be funny," Tentomon replied, "The stealing word sounded like a bad thing."
"It is!" Koichi replied. Just what they needed! Now they will have to watch out for a dangerous spirit as well.
"Cherubimon, this isn't funny. You have been most troubled because of this!" Ophanimon reminded him.
"Couldn't help the urge to say it like this!" Cherubimon replied.
"What's a spirit?" Koshiro asked.
"The things we use to digivolve," Koichi explained, reminding himself that he better not say too much.
"They were born from the dying consciousnesses of ancient digimons," Cherubimon added.
"How could someone steal something from you?" Koichi asked.
Cherubimon rubbed his chin; if there was any, "Well, usually, it happens when you don't take enough security measures, and someone takes something without you knowing," He explained in a sarcastic tone.
"We certainly needed that explanation!" Tentomon remarked.
Koichi sighed. They were three great rulers, for God's sake! Koji would definitely question their sovereignty on digiworld this time around.
"Just say it, Cherubimon," Ophanimon said, "You think I am responsible for it since this castle is under my care!"
Cherubimon sighed, "I don't. It's just . . . forget it. We both are responsible for it!"
Both! Koichi finally noticed something, or rather, he noticed something not being with Cherubimon and Ophanimon, "Where is Seraphimon!" The celestial digimon exchanged suspicious looks. Koichi felt like something heavy was just dropped in his throat.
Ophanimon spoke up after some tense moments, "Well. . ."
"He is gone!" Cherubimon cut Ophanimon.
Koichi gasped, "Gone!" Did that mean he was . . . no. Digimon didn't die like humans.
"But digimons do not die!" Koshiro stated.
Koichi couldn't be more grateful. By now, he trusted the redhead boys genius enough to take his word for it, "Y. . .you mean, he has turned back to digiegg, right!"
"No. I mean gone. Seraphimon is dead!"
Was Koichi spinning or the world! Has the earth slipped from beneath his feet? The raven-haired boy held the edge of the computer table for support, "That not. . ."
"Is that even possible!" Koshiro asked.
"I never heard of it!" Tentomon added.
"We were fighting a digimon. Ouryumon!" Ophanimon replied, "He was just too powerful. Seraphimon. . .he. . .used his, own, essence as a prison to trap Ouryumon."
"His fractal code exists as long as Ouryumon is trapped," Cherubimon added. "It is like a chain intertwined with Ouryumon's fractal code, but for that, he had to give up its stability," Cherubimon sighed, "The moment Ouryumon is released, Seraphimon's fractal will disperse in nature like the wind . . . never to unite again."
Koichi didn't know what to say. Seraphimon was gone! There was no coming back from this.
"Big things sometimes require big sacrifices," Cherubimon added, "You of all people should understand!"
Koichi knew very well what Cherubimon was saying. It's not like he wasn't aware of this, anyway. The question was: was he ready to make that sacrifice this time around? "I. . ." A beep sound from the computer cut Koichi.
"Oh, no!" Koshiro said, "Don't tell me. . ." He opened a screen on a laptop.
"What's going on?" Cherubimon's voice came from a laptop.
"I thought it was another portal, but, actually, digimons are moving away from their original point of entry."
"Some might hide in the city. It's bad!" Tentomon added.
The first thought in Koichi's mind was his mom. He fetched out his cell phone and was about to all when he noticed a text. It was from his mom. Don't come looking for me! What the hell! Like he is going to stop!
"That's another thing," Ophanimon said, "This phenomenon you see is causing the problem."
"What is this?" Koshiro asked.
"Thi- starte-wit-ceint-dig-"
"Cherubimon, we can't hear you!" Koshiro replied, "Cherubimon! Something is disrupting the signal!"
"I am going to go look for my mom!" Koichi told Koshiro and dashed to the door.
"But. . ."
"I am going!" He barged out of the room.
"Then I am coming with you" Koshiro's voice came from behind.
"We will go left!" Yamato said as he and Gabumon parted from Taichi, Agumon, and Mimi, and Palmon on a junction.
"HEY, NOT THE SHOPPING STORE!" Mimi yelled at some digimons as she and Palmon took the middle path.
Taichi and Agumon followed two Bakemon to the left, as Taichi fished out his digivice.
"Someone help me!" A boy yelled as the Bakemon followed him.
"AGUMON!"
"I got it, Taichi!" Agumon glowed along with Taichi's digivice and ransacked one Bakemon. Horns protruded from his head and snout, swinging the other white digimon away.
"Help me!" Taichi snapped his eyes toward the screaming woman. She was surrounded by fire at the end of the street. Taichi was about to run to help when Nefertimon snatched her from the earth.
"Someone, please!" A man, stuck in a crashed car, cried in agony. Something had also stepped on it.
Taichi rushed to help, "Don't worry!"
"Oh, thank you! Thank you!"
Taichi opened the door of the car and helped the man out. At least his legs were still working!
"Thank you!"
"It's nothing!"
As if the last night wasn't enough! Things were getting as bad as when last time digimons entered the human world. People were running screaming for help. Children were crying-
Wait a minute! The crying to a child! How did he miss that? Taichi followed the voice. A child of four to five, backed against a wall! An icy version of Ogremon had also suddenly decided to get interested in him. Taichi sprinted.
The Icy version of Ogremon mere steps away from the child.
The child pulled his legs in.
The advancing digimon raised its club arm.
No! He won't let it!
He won't! HE WON'T!
The icy club came down.
Taichi jumped. Child in his arms
World rolled.
THUD! The club smashed in the wall. Taichi, breathing fast, kept the child covered with his back. His cries were the only sound he registered for several moments.
"TAICHI!"
Greymon's panicked voice brought Taichi out of his trance. There was a loud THUD.
Taichi looked over his shoulder. Greymon had rammed into the Ogremon-like digimon, sending it crashing into a wall.
"Are you alright, Taichi?"
"Yeah!" He looked down at the crying child. He wanted his friend back, and he got it, but it also came at a considerable price.
Dammit!
"Is that Ogremon?" Taichi asked Greymon.
"No. Hyogamon,"
Hyogamon was back on its feet. He had to get the child away.
"I will deal with this!" Greymon charged at Ogremon. Taichi didn't get the chance to watch the battle. His eyes caught two Bakemon attacking a man! "GREYMON!"
"BUSY, TAICHI!"
"Dam..." He gasped as a figure came down, crushing on Bakemon with its foot or claw. Red armored and blonde hair. Something fast and bright hit other Bakemon, and then a white armored figure sliced it: completely disintegrating it.
It's about time!
"You alright?" Agnimon was it, asked Taichi.
"Yeah!"
"Where is Koichi?" The white armored one, Koji, asked.
"I left him at home with Koshiro. I thought he would be safe there if we contained digimons to where they appeared."
"What!" Agnimon exclaimed, "Why? He can be a one-man army!"
Taichi raised an eyebrow, "Ah, because he can't digivolve!" Why did he look so surprised? Didn't Koichi tell his friends?
"Huh?" Agnimon exclaimed, "Yeah, I don't remember him digivolving last night!"
"He didn't tell you?" Taichi asked.
"Telling stuff was never in his programming!" Agnimon stated and turned to the white armored one.
"What?'
"I guess we have a lot to talk about!"
"Yeah, whatever!" Koichi's brother replied and rushed into the fray. This bugged Taichi. Koichi was keeping things from his friends. What was the guarantee he would tell him the truth or did he just forgot?
Sora held onto Birdramon as the giant bird spun in the air dodging purple flames. Sora could feel their searing heat as she barely missed them. She was surprised she hadn't caught fire just by proximity. The attacking digimon looked too much like Birdramon for her taste. Covered in black flames, it was a giant bird with a beak just like Birdramon.
Saberdramon. That's what Birdramon told her its name was. It was deadly to get close to its flaming figure. And it had tried to attack Sora and Birdramon with its claws too many times by now.
"Sora, look!" Birdramon said.
A figure was approaching. Sora hoped it's no more trouble! Her tension evaporated when she could see purple hair and pink clothing. She noticed another person, holding onto Fairimon's foot. They must be crazy!
"Hi!" Fairimon greeted them, releasing whirlwinds that sent Saberdramon spirling through the air.
"Thanks for coming!" Sora replied.
"Okay, you can drop me here!" Tomoki said.
"WHAT!"
Tomoki let go and of Fairimon's ankle and dropped like a rock.
"Birdramon!"
Birdramon nose-dived. There was a flash of blue and purple, and that digimon form was in place of Tomoki. He hit something that had dragonfly wings and an armored body. They hit the earth with a loud THUD, and snow bear digimon's icicle part turned back to legs.
"That was just stupid!"
"A little help here!" Izumi cried from above. She was dodging as the flaming bird attacked her with its claws.
"Let's go help, Izumi." She instructed Birdramon, and the giant bird ascended. Izumi attacked Saberdramon with her whirlwinds tornados. Even though they pushed Saberdramon away, they also were fueling its fire.
"We need ice or water to fight it," Birdramon said.
"Ice! Of course!" Izumi exclaimed, "We need Tomoki!"
Great! So the guy they needed decided to jump from a hundred feet, "let's take it down!" Birdramon started descending as Saberdramon followed them. Sora kept an eye on the back so she could guide Birdramon and Fairimon for dodging Saberdramon's purple fireballs.
"What is he doing?" Fairimon asked. Sora took a look at the ground and noticed the snow bear digimon had his ears covered,
"Yanmamon is attacking with sound waves," Birdramon replied.
"We have to help him!" Fairimon shot the mini tornados from her fingers, followed by Birdramon's fireballs. The mini tornados sent Yanmamon hurtling through the air, and then the flames hit it.
"THANKS!" The snow bear digimon replied and spewed freezing air at Yanmamon.
"Meteor wing!" Birdramon attacked again. Yanmamon burst into blue lines.
"WE NEED HELP!" Fairy shouted.
"CLEAR THE WAY!" Fairimon and Birdramon moved in the opposite direction as Tomoki spewed freezing air. The fire had an advantage over the ice, but Tomoki kept it up even when Saberdramon tried to escape the cold air.
Fairimon approached them, "This should do,"
"He won't be able to keep it up for long!" Sora told her. She gasped as a heavy stone hit Saberdramon, sending it crashing down. Tomoki followed with a barrage of snowballs from his gun.
"Cat's eye beam!"
That was enough for Saberdramon. The same ring of blue and purple lines appeared around it.
"Fractal code!" Fairimon exclaimed. Sora noticed Tomoki absorbing that ring in his digivice.
"Sora'san!" Hikari addressed riding on Nefertimon's back. Nefertimon! She descended.
"Thanks!" Sora said.
Hikari shook her head, "No problem!" She looked around, "But there is still a lot."
"Let's get rid of them!" Fairimon said and flew away. Sora sighed. One thing she learned about these guys was that Izumi, Tomoki, and Takuya were, really, impatient.
"This isn't like skylights anymore, Ken," Stingmon told his partner.
"Maybe what is causing this phenomenon is getting intense," Ken replied. The atmosphere had a weird feel t it. The air became much thicker, and yet it was hard to breathe. The clouds much denser, the sun was a lot more distorted, and the temperature was jumping between 40C and 10C in seconds, "Look!" He pointed to the left. A helicopter was coming their way. Stingmon took a sudden dive, and Ken had to hold for dear life and had almost missed the ringing in his ears. The buzzing sound was like that of a broken television background.
"Where should we go?" Stingmon asked.
"First, we should deal with that!" Ken stated, looking over his shoulder. He could have missed those pink wings in the background of the red sky. The bright yellow body with blue strips of Flymon was hard to miss, though. The black pincer-like jaws were opening and snapping shut like the jaws of an iron trap. It would send chills down anyone's spine.
"Hold on!" Stingmon replied as he turned, dodging the other insectoid. Ken sat down on his feet.
Left, right, a straight nose dive, and 90 degrees ascend: Stingmon flew dodging the barrage of the incoming stinger from Flymon's tail. Yet it was hard to evade the stingers. Ken had to hold any knock he could find on his partner's shoulder. It was no easy task. A stinger, right over Stingmon's shoulder, barely missing Ken.
He bent down, dodging another.
He threw himself flat against Stungmon's neck, dodging one more. His arms were burning from exhaustion.
"Ken, are you alright?"
"Yeah," He wasn't so sure, though. Why was his hearing getting weaker and weaker every moment? It felt like Stingmon was talking from a distance, "Watch out!" Stingmon flew right, a sharp pain assaulted Ken's head as hit Stingmon's armored neck.
"Ken!"
"I am fine!" Flymon was flapping its wings. A sickeningly purple and fluffy cloud appeared. Poison! "Watch out from that!"
"Don't worry! I know."
Now his voice was just a faint whisper. It must be due to that buzzing sound from the other digimon, "Take me down. You will be able to fight better."
Using the cover of the poisonous purple cloud, Stingmon flew down. Flymon descended, stinger pointing toward them. Stingmon dashed forward, evading the stinger, spun around, and struck Flymon with the spike on its arm. Flymon screamed with a loud buzzing sound. Ken covered his ears to protect them from the noise. He was sure that buzzing sound was affecting his hearing. Stingmon kicked Flymon rapidly, send it away, and then followed with another jab te spike on his arm. A beam hit Flymon from somewhere. Ken looked toward the source. Angemon! Flymon burst, breaking into tiny lines.
Ken took a sigh of relief. That was too close.
"Ken, are you alright?"
It was just a faint whisper once again, but Ken heard it, "Yea. Did its sound affected your hearing too?"
"It did, but it will go back to normal."
That was a huge relief. Ken knew living through a disability is tough, but just a glimpse of being so close to becoming deaf was horrifying. The idea of missing a form of communication felt like you are just incomplete.
Stingmon and Angemon descended.
"You two, alright?" Takeru asked, rushing toward them.
"Yeah. Where is Koshiro?" Ken asked.
"He is keeping an eye out for more portals in his home,"
"We should go after other digimons?" Angemon asked. He and Stingmon took to the air.
Figures were flying around in different directions. The situation was ridiculous, "We need to take out multiple digimons now?" Ken said.
"Takeru!" Yamato called as he appeared, running from around the corner with Garurumon, "We need MagnaAngemon. Can you do it?"
"We tried, but it didn't work," Takeru replied.
That was disappointing. Ken was hoping MagnaAngemon will be able to help, "Let's go to Koshiro!" Ken looked up at the red sky. They need to deal with this situation from the core. Only Koshiro could help him with it.
"Yea..."
"YAMATO!" Takeru shouted.
Something swirly had appeared behind Yamato. A portal! It was pulling everything in. Yamato held on to Garurumon's paws as the wolf digimon tried to pull him back. The blonde was already half in the portal. Ken and Takeru also grabbed his arms.
"Don't let go!" Takeru told Yamato. He and Ken pulled with all their strength. The older blonde came out, spinning through the air, foot slipped, and the next thing Ken knew, he was already halfway in.
"KEN!"
"KEN!"
"My computer. Look!" And the blackness enveloped Ken.
