One week after finding out they were pregnant. Jay and Erin were in their kitchen, Jay was cooking breakfast when he turned to Erin, "Erin I really think we should be telling Voight that your pregnant, I mean your ten weeks already and I know for a fact he wouldn't want anything to happen to you on the job.
Erin looked up from the magazine she was reading, "Jay I told you I want to wait until I'm at least twelve weeks before we tell anyone, I told you this."
Jay sighed unimpressed, "I know and I don't want to start an argument but we have already been told with everything you've been through we should be treating this as carefully as possible."
"Jay. Can we please just leave it?" She got up to walk away.
Jay yelled slamming the pan down onto the stove, "Erin we have to speak about this!"
She jumped out of her skin as she turned around in shock, he rarely ever yelled at her, no matter how frustrated, "And we have! I said I want to wait can you please just respect that? I'm being as careful as possible at work and you know that so can you please just be happy with my decision?"
Jay just rolled his eyes and went back to cooking, he knew if he pushed it further it would just lead to a more heated argument getting him nowhere.
...
Later that afternoon, when they were at work. Erin and Jay walked out of the coffee room, it was a little awkward between them. Hank noticed as he was standing in the doorway to his office, "Halstead my office." Jay slid his chair back and walked into Voight's office.
"What's going on between you and Erin?" He masked bluntly.
Jay cleared his throat, why did Voight always seem to put him in this position? "It's kind of personal Sarge, no disrespect but it's not really my place to say you should talk to Erin."
"I have said this once before and I'm going to say it again, I turned a blind eye on the two of you. Once again. So when I ask one of you a question, as a courtesy to me you can answer for the other."
Jay anticipated and knew he'd pay later but it was his place to have a choice with how Erin dealt with this two, that was his child aswell, "Erins pregnant."
Voight was shocked to say the least, they only just got married this was the last thing he expected considering how much he knew Erin loved her job, "Send her in."
Jay got up walking out of Voight's office, he knew he was either going to get his ass kicked by Voight or Erin. He knew Erin wanted to be the one to tell him and she wanted to wait but he couldn't exactly lie straight to Voight's face and honestly he wanted her out of harms way. He slowly walked up to Erin's desk, "Uh Er? Voight wants to see you."
Erin looked up at Jay with disappointment, "You told him didn't you?"
"Erin I'm sorry he knew something was up I couldn't exactly lie straight to his face. He's not stupid," He apolitically said as he watched her face change into pure anger.
Just as Erin was about to stand up Platt came running up the stairs, "There's been a shooting on the corner of 26th street, Little Village."
Everyone grabbed their coats and ran down to put their vests on. Jay ran over to Erin, "Here let me help you."
Erin moved away yelling at Jay, "It's fine, I got it." she got the entire teams attention. She just shook it off as she walked to the car.
Ruzek looked at Atwater, "Are they cool?"
Atwater shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know, ask her."
Ruzek shaking his head, "No sir, you ask her."
"No thanks," there was no way he was putting his foot in that.
...
When they got there, there was no one left shooting, four bodies lay on the road. A women came running out, she grabbed onto Voight, "Help! please my little boy!" the team ran inside, Jay saw the little boy with blood pouring out his chest, he put pressure on it but it done nothing. He felt for a pulse but just turned to the team and shook his head. All you could hear where the sounds of the woman's cry's.
...
Back at the district. They went through all the victims that had been shot, there was only one involved with any type of gang affiliation, the rest were just bystanders. They finally had a lead on the suspect. As they all went to go get up Voight pointed at Erin, "Stay here!"
She stopped in her tracks, pissed off, "Sarge!" Everyone was confused. She just fell back in her chair as the rest of the team ran off.
...
It was about two hours later and Erin started backing up her things, she heard over the radio that they caught the suspect but for some reason none of them were back yet so they must be stuck at the crime scene. Just as she went to walk down the steps she saw Voight and Jay walking up, "Everyone else has gone home, can I please see you two in my office now?" Voight gestured for the two to follow him.
"Hank can we please just do this tomorrow?" Erin didn't want to hear it.
"My office now!" Voight demanded. They all walked to his office and sat down.
Voight looked at Erin for an explanation but when she didn't speak he spoke up first, "Erin care to explain what's going on?"
"Hank don't act like you don't know." She said annoyed.
"I hear congratulations are in order," he smiled and got up from his chair and walked over to the both of them.
Erin got up surprised and hugged him, she thought she was going to get a lecture, "Well your taking this a lot better then I expected." Jay was slightly confused as he stayed seated.
"I'm disappointed that I will lose one of my best detectives but I couldn't be happy for you Erin," he let her go and looked at Jay holding out his hand, "Congratulations Halstead, this is going to be the best time of your life."
Jay shook his hand, "Thanks Sarge."
Hank sat back down, "You do realise what this means though don't you? Desk duty. You can help with everything in here including interrogations and you can still go to crime scenes but absolutely nothing that will put the two of you in danger." she went to say something and Voight cut her off, "I'm serious Erin, your a mum now."
