A Grand Talon.
The fall of Overwatch was considered to be there much devastating defeat ever. And it was. It was the reason why they were forced to shut down and were outlawed by the world, who no longer needed their help. But while it easily was their greatest defeat, it wasn't their only one. Back when they were still around, Overwatch had located a very important target: One of Talon's highest members. Jericho Swain, one of the Grand members of Talon, who's athority easily equals even Doomfist himself.
Little is known about Swain's early life. But what is known is that he used to be a highly respected general during the Omnic Crisis. A very inteligent leader, he led his troops to victory against the omnics many times. For a time, it seemed like his tactics were invincible. But while his tactics and strategies were flawless, his troops were not. And sometimes even the best laid plans can fall apart due to the imcompitance of a soldier. This would lead to Swain lossing an arm... and after that day he changed. And now he was one of the leaders of Talon.
Tracking him down was hard, but Overwatch managed to locate him and sent a team to capture him. The team was made up of: Riven, Vi, Lena, Genji and Jack Morrison himself. He wanted to come with so he could bring in Swain himself, one leader to another. They were getting close to their location and Jack took the chance to sum up the mission to his team.
"Alright listen up everyone. Our target is Jericho Swain, former general in the Omnic Crisis, now turned Talon leader. What caused him to join Talon is anyone's guess, but our mission is very clear: Find Swain, and bring him in alive. I can't even describe how important his capture could be to our chances of finally shutting Talon down. Swain is just as smart as he is dangerous, and the information he holds is vital" Jack said while showing a picture of Swain "It's sad that such a great war hero could fall this low. But I hope he has enough honor to surrender to us when we move in to capture him".
"I have a feeling it's not gonna be that easy" Riven pointed out.
Jack sighed at that "I'm afraid you might be right about that, Riven. Given how important he is, we will need to fight our way through a lot of Talon soldiers just to get to him. So be ready for anything, understood?".
"Yes sir!" Everyone said.
"Ready for this Genji?" Vi asked her cyborg friend.
"Always" Genji answered.
Lena smiled as she readied her pistols "Alright my sisters in arms. Let's do this".
She raised her hand in to the air, and both Riven and Vi high fived her. Jack let out a small chuckle, sometimes he believed those three really are sisters. With that they landed their plane close to Swain's location. They headed out and traveled to the Talon base. Surprisingly, it didn't have as many guards as they would expect for someone of Swain's status. In fact, there were so few that he was practically unprotected. Jack narrowed his eyes, why would Swain leave himself this vulnerable like this? He is to smart for that.
"Commander..." Riven spoke.
"I know Riven. Where are all the guards? Swain is not this arrogant" Jack said.
"Think this could be a trap?" Genji asked.
"There is always a possibility that we could be walking in to a trap. Keep your guard up, something smells very wrong about this" Jack ordered.
With a nod from the rest they began to move inside. Just in case it was a trap, they decided to use stealth, much to Vi's annoyance, she hated stealth. They carefully took down the guards outside before moving inside the building. Again, there were barely any guards, which just added to the team's growing confusion. Just what was Swain up to? No way he could believe this was enough security, they wouldn't even be able to defend a candy store from a bunch of children.
This was growing more suspicious by the second, but still they continued on. Taking down the guards. Vi punched the last guard, causing him to fly through the doors leading to where Swain should be. They walked inside and saw Swain was indeed there. His long silver hair could be seen as he was wearing a high ranking Talon uniform, along with a large cape. He was even drinking vine, and fine vine at that.
"You know you could've just knocked. You brutish Overwatch people has lost all sense of civility" Swain said calmly as he moved his vine around in is glass "Want a glass? This is fine vine that has aged for 20 years. And you know Vine always taste better when it has a few years behind it".
"Cut the crap, Swain. You know why we're here" Jack said as he held his weapon ready "I am going to make this very simple for you. Surrender peacefully and I can promise you will be treated fairly. If only to honor your deeds back in the crisis".
Swain finished his glass before letting out a satisfied sigh "Ah yes, the Omnic Crisis. Many eyes were opened during that time. Mine included" He held up a metal arm, a replacement for his missing one "As you can see, I learned a vital lesson in the war against the machines".
"And what lesson is that?" Riven asked.
"Oh my dear, this isn't a lesson that can be explained so easily. It's a lesson you need to learn for yourself" Swain said as he stood up from his chair "Now as for your generous offer, Jack Morrison. I am afraid I have to refuse. Talon has a long time plan, and I need to be a part of it".
"I heard you were supposed to be smart. You don't really think you can take us all at the same time, do you?" Vi mocked.
Swain remained perfectly calm despite the numbers being against him "Normally, I don't take part in brutish brawls like these. But this could be good way to give me some exercise and loosen up my muscles a little".
"You had your chance, Swain. Bring him down!" Jack ordered.
The team moved towards the Talon leader who didn't look the least bit worried, in fact, he was smiling. Vi felt he was being too smug so she charged in ready to knock that smile of his face. Vi tightens her fist, and throws a simple forward punch towards Swain's face, which is deflected by a flash of unknown origin from Swain, causing Vi to stumble back. Swain continued to smile, having not even reacted to Vi's attempted blow.
Vi growls dashes forwards, unleashing a flurry of several punches, resetting each time instead of redirecting her blows, as Swain simply dodges each attack, moving his body swiftly in order to avoid them in a very laid back, but extremely effective way. With every unsuccessful punch, elbow, and kick, Vi grows more and more frustrated as she continues moving forward as her last three blows bring her to a knee, where she attempts a roundhouse kick, allowing Swain to deliver a swift back hand blow to Vi's face, knocking the young woman to the ground, her reckless attacks left her guard completely open.
As Vi rolled across the ground, Swain fixed his cape "Strong. But a reckless brute".
Lena and Genji charged in. Lena firing her pulse pistols and Genji throwing his shurikens. But Swain's suit activated some kind of force field, blocking their range attacks. So Genji decided to dash in and cleave through Swain's shield with his sword. But when he did, Swain avoided his attack and struck him in the back of the head, making him crash in to the floor. Lena kept firing at Swain, but he easily analyzed her pattern and grabbed her by the neck before throwing her in to Genji before he could get up, knocking them both down.
"Fast, but predictable" Swain said.
Riven charged in with her blade. She swung at Swain several times but he avoided her strikes easily. Riven did a side slash, which Swain prevented by grabbing her arm and then her neck. Riven struggled to breath against Swain metal grip, he was much stronger than he looked. And it still looked like he was barely even trying.
"Hmm, not to bad. You could've made a promising Talon with the right motivations" Swain commented before throwing Riven in to a wall.
Jack took this chance to fire some missiles out of his weapon. But Swain raised his metal arm and unleashed some red lightning that blew the missiles up. Jack continued to fire, but Swain dashed forward with surprising speed and knocked Jack's weapon out of his hands. Jack was not giving up however and resorted to his advanced hand to hand training. He threw several hard punches that could've easily have knocked out any normal man. But Swain blocked each punch and landed a blow to Jack's chest, Jack tried to punch him again, but Swain stopped his fist with his hand before delivering a kick that sent Jack flying in to a wall.
"I was expecting a little more from the leader of Overwatch" Swain said, sounding disappointed.
Then a battle cry was heard as Vi attacked again. Swain counters through a pull in redirection of force technique, pulling Vi's arm in with his own left arm, and performing a well-executed strikes to Vi's chin, before elbowing Vi in the stomach hard before sending her back with a perfect side kick. The others recovered and attacked Swain together. Riven and Genji moved in with their blades ready but Swain dodged, making their blades clash against each other. Grabbing hold of them Swain began delivering a series of kicks to both of them before tossing Genji away, allowing him to focus on Riven, delivering a knee to her stomach, knocking the wind out of her and Swain finished her with a brutal chop to her neck, which knocked her out cold.
"Riven!" Lena shouted before she got ready to throw her bomb.
But faster than Lena could even use her blink ability. Swain reached out his metal hand, sending red lighting at Lena, hitting her dead on and causing her own bomb to explode on her. She was sent back, still alive, but she wouldn't be getting up any time soon. Vi charged in rage, but once again her straight forward punches couldn't even touch Swain who used his fingers to strike Vi in the throat, completely cutting of air from her lungs. Vi began chocking as she fell to her knees, removing her gauntlets to clutch her neck. Swain watched her without any emotions on his face. But then he noticed Genji dashing at him with his sword. Swain grabbed Genji's metal arm with his own, before using his surprising strength to snap Genji's metal arm. Swain then put his own metal hand on Genji's chest before sending waves of red lightning through his body, making the ninja scream in pain before Swain dropped him to the floor.
"SWAIN!" Jack roars as he goes in for a brutal tackle.
He managed to hit Swain... but to Jack's shock, Swain barely even slid back from the tackle. Swain then grabbed Jack and delivered a brutal knee to his chest, breaking some ribs and making him cough up some blood. Swain then grabbed him by the neck with his metal arm and lifted Jack in to the air by his neck. Jack struggled the best he could, he now understood why Swain had so little security... It was because he didn't need them.
"If this is the best Overwatch has to offer. Then Talon has nothing to worry about. Such a disappointment, looks like you weren't worth my time after all" Swain said before tossing Jack aside like garbage. Jack watched Swain calmly walk out of the room... he didn't even see them as worth killing... they had lost.
Outside, Swain's transport was already waiting for him. He waled onboard and flew away... Overwatch had failed... Talon won this day.
