Chapter Twelve

(A/N: It's been a long while, but I felt weird leaving the story on that note. So I will be posting a final chapter. Hope everyone is staying safe!)

After the wonderful news, Seto took Serenity back to the Kaiba mansion where they would be able to spend a proper holiday with one another. The couple decided to spend alone time and have Mokuba stay at the Wheelers' for a while, which Mokuba didn't mind at all. Serenity even revealed the exciting news about the wedding and pregnancy, much to Joey's anger. However at least the blond duelist was happy for his sister and getting a niece or a nephew someday.

Due to safety reasons, Seto kept the pregnancy low key from the rest of the world. The last thing he wanted was his pregnant, future wife to be stressed. Only a select few people knew such as Yugi, however the group was hesitant to tell Tristan, as this would be heartbreaking news for the pointy haired man. Seto became even more protective over her if that was even possible and instructed his staff to help cater to every need.

As the months passed, Serenity's belly continued to grow into a noticeable baby bump, which made it harder to hide it from the public. The last thing the couple needed was obsessive fans or enemies of the Kaiba Corporation. The expecting mother began to have mood swings, weird cravings such as peanut butter with pickles, and sickness. However this would all be over with once their bundle of joy would arrive, then they would focus on getting married and enjoying their family.

The child's gender was soon revealed to be a boy. Joey was especially ecstatic to hear the news, seeing that he was outnumbered by his wife and daughter at the moment. Seto however, scoffed at the idea of Joey hanging around his future son, but it was something he'd have to accept for Serenity's sake. They were all going to be a family after all.

Speaking of family, the forgiving Serenity, even called Jane to give her a second chance. The redhead did love her mother after everything and could never stay mad forever. Of course, Jane stubbornly disowned her as her daughter and refused to speak to her ever again. In the older woman's eyes: the good-natured, sweet Serenity was the rich man's whore who will be disposed of in a few years. Alone in their master bedroom, Serenity placed the phone down gently. A single tear fell from her eye, however it was all she could muster. She didn't feel defeated this time, Serenity possessed a hidden strength inside herself that only her brother, friends, and lover have seen. Maybe this was life's funny way of telling her to move on.

A large hand was placed on her shoulder, which caused her to look up and see her towering fiance. His piercing blue eyes glistened with strength yet a hint of empathy, something rare for Seto Kaiba.

"I heard everything." he spoke.

Serenity nodded and gave a small smile, placing her petite hand over his large one. This was a bond that Seto shared the ones he truly loved, which made it all the more special.

"Like you said, we'll get through this together."

It was then time to meet their child, which was going to take place in Domino hospital under strict order of privacy by Seto Kaiba himself. Serenity was rushed into the delivery room which made Seto rush with adrenaline. Their son was going to be born and it was one of the most stressful yet exciting events that'll take place in the CEO's life. There was no turning back now.

Serenity spent hours in labor under the care of the best doctors. It was nothing but the best for Serenity and their baby. The expecting mother pushed with all of her might, using all of her muscles needed. To Serenity's request, Seto stayed with his fiancee as she squeezed his hand tightly.

"You're almost there Ms. Wheeler." the doctor coached. "Keep going!"

Serenity let out a final scream of agony, before it was finally over. A crying newborn was finally delivered successfully. "You did it, Ms. Wheeler!" the doctor cheered.

Serenity collapsed, her sweaty bangs covering her face as she finally got to rest. However she still held Seto's hand, but loosened the grip. The CEO kissed her forehead, showing his love and praise for her. This was the happiest he felt in a long time, he was now a father.

"Seto...I did it." the redhead whispered happily.

Before he could speak, the doctor spoke up. "I'll get you an ice pack and some padding, Ms. Wheeler. Then we'll be doing some examinations. Congratulations to both of you."

After some time passed, Serenity was finally handed a small, healthy newborn boy in a warm cloth. The boy was beautiful with its chubby features and a patch of dark brown brown hair with a lighter shade on top inherited from his parents. It was an interesting and rare combination but that made him all the more unique. It was a day that the couple would mentally capture for years and years to come.

The child opened his beautiful eyes. His eyes looked more like Serenity's, which was a slightly darker shade of brown. He had light skin and was an average weight for a baby.

"He's beautiful, Seto…" Serenity whispered, staring at her child lovingly. "He's everything we could ever want."

Seto got a better look at his son, who was staring back at him. As soon as that happened, Seto's heart began to slowly warm up like a furnace, Seto had a soft spot for children. However that feeling now was a thousand times greater with his own. His paternal instincts kicked in as he mentally swore that he would protect his son with everything he had, even if it meant his own life. It was funny to him how he could care for more people besides his brother, now he had his fiancee, his son, and to an extent Yugi and his friends.

"He's incredible…" he whispered to himself, blissfully unaware of his fiancee listening.

"Would you like to hold him, Seto?" Serenity asked, snapping out of his thoughts.

The CEO nodded and carefully held the baby. The last time he held a newborn baby was when Mokuba was born, which was years ago. However despite his lack of experience, he was a natural at this. Seto's rare, genuine smile was enough to win over the baby's trust and that was all he needed.
