For the next couple of weeks, things continued more or less the same. On days where the snow was at its worst, Keigo stayed home and kept Hanako company while having someone cover for him, but on days where he was able to fly he would have to leave Hanako at home alone.
Hanako didn't mind so much being alone, but she had grown accustomed to having him around more often and with them being a couple now, it was difficult for them to spend time together. Keigo almost always came home exhausted and half the time, Hanako would already be in bed fast asleep. She herself would be exhausted after a long day. The least she could do for Keigo's hospitality was to keep things in order around the penthouse apartment, so she'd clean, do laundry and dishes, she'd cook, and she had started growing her some of the seeds she had brought with her in small pots along the windowed walls. Every day, she would always make sure that he had a lunch to take with him to work and dinner waiting for him when he returned home- really anything to make things easier for him.
There were several days where Keigo would notice Hanako seeming off somehow, but she always smiled and played it off like it was nothing. He knew it wouldn't be easy for her to be cooped up inside all the time and not being able to go out, but he did everything he could think of to make it bearable for her. But one day after a very long day at work, Keigo came home and sensed something was wrong- very wrong.
He rushed inside and found his home trashed like there had been a struggle. He searched frantically and fearfully for any sign of Hanako but found nothing. He then moved to the halls of the apartment building, searching everywhere as he made his way down to the office. He found the security guards recovering from an attack and demanded to know what happened, but none of them knew what had happened in the last hour or so. He ordered them to pull up the security footage from the last three hours and when it came up on the screens, he scanned through the footage- stopping only when he spotted a man he hadn't seen before who was dressed just like Ryushi. He followed the man's path in the footage, from when he attacked the security guards to when he exited the elevator on the penthouse floor. His chest tightened and his eyes widened when he saw the man's face change into Ryushi's just before he knocked on Keigo's door. When Hanako answered the door, she greeted him warmly- unaware that it wasn't actually Ryushi- and invited him inside.
Keigo's stomach knotted and twisted when he saw the man posing as Ryushi came back out of the penthouse with an unconscious Hanako slung over his shoulder. He slammed his fists on the desk, knocking over several things in the process, as the man made it a point of looking right at the security camera and grinned- almost daring him to come after them and to find where they had taken Hanako.
'Hanako... I will find you, I promise...'
Hanako had been standing by the patio doors, looking out the windows at the gleaming snow. Keigo was not due home for a couple of hours and Ryushi hadn't called yet like he usually would by that time of day, so Hanako felt a bit bored. That is, at least, until a knock came at the door.
Hanako was cautious about going to see who was at the door, careful not to make a sound as she approached the door and took a peek through the peephole. 'Ryushi?' Out in the hall, she saw Ryushi waiting on the other side of the door. She sighed with relief and opened the door, greeting him with a smile.
"Ryushi, this is a surprise, I was wondering why you hadn't called yet."
Ryushi offered her a smile.
"Come on in, I'll make some tea."
Hanako made her way towards the kitchen, grabbing the kettle to fill it with water as Ryushi followed after her.
"So how are things today? I know it's been really busy, but I hope you're all at least getting some sort of break?"
When Ryushi didn't answer, Hanako set the kettle on the stove and made to turn towards him but as she did, she noticed something off and stepped back away from him.
"You're not Ryushi..."
The man posing as Ryushi grinned devilishly and lunged for her, but Hanako was able to jump out of his way and started running for the door. She didn't make it too far, though, before the man was on her again and yanked her back.
"Someone help!" she had tried calling, but this was the penthouse and the only unit on the entire floor; no one was going to hear her.
"Come here, girl, let's not make this harder than it needs to be."
"Stay away from me!"
Hanako tried desperately to throw things at the man, or bar his path to her, and even tried to lock herself in the bedroom but she never made it that far. The man grabbed her, finally subduing her with a cloth of sickly sweet scent over her face. She tried to continue fighting against him, but darkness was claiming her and she slipped into unconsciousness.
When she next awoke, she found herself tied to a chair and gagged in a darkened room with barely any light. She felt incredibly groggy and her vision was blurring in and out as she came to again, but she could hear a man's voice calling to her from the shadows.
"There she is. I was wondering when you would wake, beautiful."
Hanako squinted at the shadows where the voice came from as its owner stepped forward. She could see that he was a rather handsome man, but he was dressed in very nice clothes and had an intimidating presence about him. 'Yakuza...'
The man grabbed a chair and came to sit in front of her, turning the chair towards him and resting his arms along the back of it. He watched her a moment, then reached up to remove the gag. "My name is Shigeki Fukuhara, I am the head of the Yakuza in Fukuoka."
Hanako looked him over. "What do you want from me?"
"Well, as I am sure you know, we are trying to expand our territory and there is a certain hero that has been getting in our way."
"So what, you're going to use me against him?"
"It was a thought," Shigeki smirked. "We need him to back off and from what I've been hearing, he seems to have a soft spot for you."
"You know he's going to find me, right?" Hanako glared at him. "And when he does, he's going to kick your ass."
Shigeki chuckled. "Oh, I'm counting on him finding you." He stood and moved the chair aside as he reached for Hanako's chin and forced her to look up at him. "As far as kicking my ass goes, we'll see. I plan on having a bit of fun at his expense before he even gets the chance."
Hanako tried to fight against his grip, but he was stronger than him. "Let go of me..!"
"Uh, uh, uh," Shigeki said, tsking his tongue as he leaned in closer. "I don't plan on letting you go any time soon."
Hanako tried to wrest her face from his grasp, but there was something about his eyes that began to keep her transfixed. She began feeling a fog in her mind and tried to close her eyes to block out the gentle glow of his blue eyes, but she felt herself slipping and losing control over herself.
After a few moments, Shigeki stood straight and smirked. "There we are." He glanced at the others in the room. "Untie her."
As one of the Yakuza untied Hanako, the man who had taken her from Keigo's penthouse sidled up next to Shigeki. "You scare me sometimes, Shigeki, you take hypnosis to a new level."
Shigeki chuckled. "Having a hypnosis quirk is rather useful, don't you think, Shun?"
The man who had taken Hanako, Shun Higurashi, just shook his head and looked at Hanako. "So she's under your control now?"
"For as long as I deem it necessary, yes," Shigeki looked from Shun to Hanako. "Stand."
Hanako stood.
"Come here."
Hanako stepped forward and came to stand in front of Shigeki.
"Do you know who you are?"
"I am Hanako Itami."
"Good. And who do you owe your allegiance to?"
"To you, Master Shigeki."
Shigeki looked over at Shun, brow raised. "Still have doubts?"
Shun shook his head. "No."
"Good." Shigeki looked back to Hanako. "Come, Hanako, let me show you around."
"Yes, Master."
