Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2-Time Patrollers

Chapter Eleven: Super Saiyan Rage Awakened! A New Enemy?

As the historic battle between Goku and Frieza was getting underway, an alliance was currently being forged not too far from Planet Namek. Having boarded the Frieza Force ship, Towa and her two allies were now standing before it's master, Cooler, the older brother of Frieza. He sat in his own hover pod, not all that different from his own brother and gazed at the trio. In particular, he stared at X. He had seen him from somewhere before, but at the moment he couldn't recall where. Besides himself, there was also his 3 henchmen of the Armored Squadron: Salza, Neiz, and Dore, who stood at attention next to their boss, eyeing the three strangers warily.

"It's only out of sheer curiosity that I am even allowing you three to continue breathing," Cooler spoke up. "By all accounts I should just have you eliminated for trespassing on my ship."

Mira stirred slightly, clearly wanting Cooler to follow through with his threat, giving him an excuse to put the smug alien in his place.

"Though how you managed to sneak aboard so easily puzzles me," Cooler continued. "Tell me, who are you and why are you here?"

"My name is Towa," Towa replied. "This is Mira and X."

"X? Not the mercenary who is wanted by the Galactic Patrol," Cooler asked. "That's why you seem so familiar to me."

"I'm glad to see my reputation precedes me," X said.

"Reputation," Neiz spoke up mockingly. "I heard you got beaten down by the Commander of the Patrol, and you got your gang all imprisoned. Hey, lady? Why are you bothering with this loser?"

This brought a laugh from Salza and Dore. Then, in the blink of an eye, X had Neiz up against the wall, hand around his throat, steadily squeezing and cutting off his air supply. Neiz struggled against the strength of the masked mercenary.

"Lets get something straight," X hissed, applying a bit more pressure to Neiz's throat. "My reputation may have suffered a slight setback, but soon that will all change. I'll get my gang out of prison, and then, we'll deal with the Galactic Patrol and the Commander. And next time you and your pals decide to make a joke at my expense, Cooler is going to be looking for replacements."

He released Neiz, who collapsed to ground, wheezing and rubbing his throat. He stared up at the masked mercenary, though whatever thoughts he had about attacking immediately vanished. He couldn't see X's face, and yet, he felt intimidated by his mere presence. Satisfied, X resumed his spot next to Towa and Mira.

"Hmm. It seems you're not as weak as I was led to believe," Cooler said, not the least bit phased by what had happened. "You'll have to forgive Neiz, he has a tendency to underestimate people. But enough about that. Tell me, Towa. Why are you here?"

"As it is, Cooler," Towa said. "I've come here to seek an alliance with you."

"An alliance," Cooler said. "For what purpose?"

"Why merely to help you maintain the might and prestige of your empire," Towa replied.

"You mean my father's empire? I can assure it's might and prestige is still perfectly intact," Cooler said. "Even with my little brat of a brother running things."

"Funny you should mention Frieza," Towa said. "Because at this very moment, he's on Planet Namek, battling a Saiyan warrior named Goku."

"A Saiyan," Cooler said. "I thought with the exception of Prince Vegeta and his two cohorts, there were no other surviving Saiyans. Hmph! Typical. My brother never could finish the job properly. Still, I doubt he will have much trouble with one lowly Saiyan."

"Ah, but this is no ordinary Saiyan," Towa explained. "He's exceptionally strong. And if he's not dealt with, then your empire will suffer horribly for it."

"And why should we believe you," Salza asked, a note of suspicion in his voice. "How do we know this isn't some kind of trick?"

"An excellent question, Salza," Cooler said, his gaze locked on Towa. "How can we be so sure of what you say is true, Towa?"

"Allow me to show you," Towa said. She tapped her staff on the floor and an image appeared before them. The image showed Planet Namek, as well as the battle between Goku and Frieza. "As you can see here, your brother is already engaging the Saiyan in battle. What's more, Goku is obviously managing to hold his own against him, if struggling slightly."

Indeed, as Cooler watched, he saw Towa was correct. While Frieza was clearly the stronger of the two, the Saiyan warrior was actually managing to stay in the fight. By all accounts, Frieza shouldn't be having this much trouble dealing with one Saiyan. He could feel annoyance and anger boiling up within him the more he watched.

"This is intolerable," Cooler snapped, banging his fist on the side of his hover pod. "My brother having this much trouble with one Saiyan ape? This is an embarrassment!"

"And it will only get worse," Towa said. "Also, there are two other Saiyan warriors nearby, waiting to help out." The image shifted, showing Cloud and Luttice standing nearby, observing the battle. "And they are no pushovers either. Even if Goku should fail, they will be ready to step in."

"Two more Saiyans," Cooler ground out. "My brother is an absolute bungler!" He turned to Salza. "Set course for Planet Namek! I will not only deal with those impudent Saiyans myself, but I will also teach that fool brother how to get the job properly done!"

"Y-Yes, sir," Salza said, rushing out of the room towards the cockpit.

"If I may say so, Cooler," Towa said. "There's no denying your strength, but against all three Saiyans, you may be at a disadvantage. Even with Frieza there to assist you."

"And what would you suggest I do," Cooler demanded. "I have no intention of letting this insult slide."

"As it is," Towa replied with a sly smile, "I have the means to ensure that both you and Frieza emerge victorious in this battle."

Back on Planet Namek, Goku and Frieza continued their fierce battle. Despite the fact Frieza was weathering Goku's attacks and putting the Saiyan warrior on the ropes, he was surprised that his opponent was also giving no ground and even managing to push the tyrant back at points. Moreover, the Saiyan was also proving to be quite versatile and adaptable. Each time Frieza had Goku where he wanted, the Saiyan had somehow pulled through and evaded certain death. He didn't know whether to admire the Saiyan or feel frustration at the stubborn fool. And speaking of which...

Frieza cast a quick glance over at the other 2 Saiyans nearby. So far they had kept their distance and seemed content to just watch. Why had they halted their own attacks and allowed this Saiyan to step in and fight? Had they decided they were no match for him and that Goku would be able to defeat him? No. That couldn't be it. Frieza was certain of that. Perhaps Goku had wanted a chance to prove his strength against Frieza? Yes. That seemed more likely. If there was one thing he knew about Saiyans, it was their overzealous need to fight strong opponents and prove their own. Well, that would ultimately be their undoing.

"Are you really that confident in your abilities, Saiyan," Frieza asked Goku. "Do you truly believe you are a match for me?"

"Honestly, I'm not really sure if I stand a chance against you or not," Goku admitted. "But that doesn't mean I'm going to give in."

"And what of your two friends over there," Frieza asked. "If you should fall, will they step in and take your place? I'll admit they certainly gave me a decent fight, but there is no one, least of all Saiyans, who can match my power. And I'll prove that here and now."

Raising his hand, he charged up and fired off a massive blast...right towards Cloud and Luttice!

"Guys, watch out," Goku shouted.

Both Saiyans reacted quickly and brought their hands up, intercepting the incoming attack. Working together, they redirected the attack and sent upwards into the stratosphere. Frieza was shocked they had managed to deflect the attack so easily.

"We're fine, Goku," Cloud called out. "Concentrate on Frieza! Don't worry about us!"

"Right," Goku said. He turned his attention back to Frieza. "Guess you underestimated them, huh?"

"Hmph," Frieza huffed. "I'll deal with them soon enough. For now though, I'll be content with dealing with you first."

With that, he charged at Goku, intent on killing the Saiyan warrior, who met his charge head-on.

"Tch. That was a cheap move," Luttice said. "Trying to blast us like that."

"Did you expect anything less from the likes of Frieza," Cloud said. "Anyway, so far this battle is going the way it should. By the way, have you seen any sign of Towa or her allies?"

"No, I haven't," Luttice said, glancing around. "But then that witch has an annoying habit of appearing out of nowhere when we least expect it. I'm sure sooner or later she'll show her hand."

"And we'll be ready for her when she does," Cloud replied.

They turned their attention back to the battle at hand. Cloud couldn't help but notice Goku was starting to look a bit ragged and worn out. If this kept up, he wouldn't stand a chance against Frieza.

"We might have to step in soon," Cloud said. "I'm not sure how much longer Goku will last against Frieza at this rate."

"I know. But we can't be the ones to defeat Frieza," Luttice pointed out. "It has to be Goku in order to set this timeline back on track."

"I know," Cloud said. "If things go as I think they will, Goku will have a plan to deal with Frieza."

Sure enough, just as he finished saying this, Goku landed next to them.

"Hey, you two," Goku said. "This guy sure is tough. But I think I have an idea on how to stop him. I don't know if it'll work, but...Anyway, can you guys buy me a little time?"

Cloud nodded. "Consider it done, Goku."

Both he and Luttice turned to face the approaching Frieza while Goku took up a position behind them and raised his hands to the sky.

"Is he going to do what I think he's going to do," Luttice asked.

"Oh, it's the Spirit Bomb," Elder Kai spoke up over the com. "That's sure to take care of Frieza. I thought things were hanging by a thread, but Goku really pulled through for us."

"Lets not celebrate so soon, old man," Cloud said. "There's still more to come."

By now Frieza had arrived. He halted before the two Saiyan warriors, eyeing them with contempt.

"So you two decided to jump right back into the fight once more," Frieza said. "How annoying. And why is he just standing there with his arms raised like that? Is this some pathetic attempt at something?"

"Never mind him," Cloud said. "You'll be fighting us now, so deal with it."

"You Saiyans are really trying my patience," Frieza ground out. "Just know that I have no intention of letting your friend finish whatever it is he's doing."

He attempted to rush at Goku, only to have Luttice move in and intercept him.

"Cloud said you'll be dealing with us," he said.

He lashed out, landing a solid punch to Frieza's face, sending the tyrant flying backwards. He recovered quickly and then launched a barrage of energy blasts at the two Saiyans. Both Cloud and Luttice dodged the incoming projectiles and rushed Frieza. The trio of fighters met with a resounding clash and flew across the ground, lashing out with fierce attacks. They then took flight, shooting straight up into the air. Cloud and Luttice fired off a barrage of energy orbs. Frieza countered with a barrage of his own, both attacks colliding with a massive explosion. Flying through the smoke, the two Saiyans converged on Frieza, attacking him relentlessly to keep his attention away from Goku.

As they fought, Frieza sought any chance he could to get at Goku. He didn't know what the Saiyan was planning, but he had a feeling he should put a stop to it. Even though he felt it wouldn't do any good, it was better to err on the side of caution. However, every attempt was thwarted by these miserable Saiyan warriors! No doubt they were aware of Goku's plan and were doing everything they could to stop Frieza from interfering. If he could knock out one of the Saiyans and only have to deal with one, then maybe he could successfully get at Goku. Frieza attempted a feint at Goku, sending a bolt of energy at him, and just as he had hoped, one of the Saiyans reacted, moving to intercept it. While his attention was temporarily focused on that task, Frieza took advantage and blasted the Saiyan...

Cloud caught the attack meant for Goku just in time. Frieza was certainly desperate to put a stop to his plan, but they wouldn't allow it. He was turning back towards Frieza when he was sent reeling from a sneak attack by the Galactic tyrant...

"Ha, ha, ha, ha," Frieza laughed. "Well, that's one down." He turned to Luttice. "Now it's your turn, my friend."

To his surprise, Luttice only smirked. "Do you really think that sneak attack is enough to take out Cloud?"

"Maybe it won't kill him," Frieza admitted. "But at least that's one less nuisance I have to deal with."

"Guess again, Frieza."

Frieza stiffened in surprise. Whirling around, he found himself face-to-face with Cloud!

"What? Impossible," Frieza exclaimed. "You couldn't have recovered that fast!"

"You really shouldn't underestimate someone, Frieza," Cloud said. "They might just surprise you."

The battle resumed, while down below, Goku continued gathering energy for the Spirit Bomb. This was proving a bit difficult due to so little life on Namek. No doubt he owed that to Frieza and his forces and their callus destruction of the Namekians. Because of this, he was forced to draw upon energy from nearby planets, and that was taking too long. Still, he could see Cloud and Luttice were doing alright against Frieza. Though one thing puzzled him. Why weren't they using those other forms he had seen back on Earth? Were they strong enough to deal with Frieza like this? Or were they trusting in Goku to finish this battle? There was still a lot about these 2 Saiyans he didn't know about. And they weren't the only ones. There were also the other mysterious fighters who had appeared several times during other big battles, too. Just who were they? And why were they so intent on helping Goku and his friends? Just as he finished this thought, he felt it! The Spirit Bomb was finally ready!

"I hope this is enough," he said. "HERE GOES!"

Bringing his hands down with a sweeping flourish, Goku brought the Spirit Bomb down...

Frieza halted his attack on the other 2 Saiyans as he heard Goku yell out. Glancing down, he saw Goku had brought his hands down. What was he...Then he turned and looked skyward. To his horror, he saw a massive blue-white orb of energy moving down towards him! Frieza raised his hands to halt the Spirit Bomb. But despite his best efforts, the energy orb pressed down on him, steadily engulfing him. Frieza yelled out in fury as the attack consumed him...

Both Cloud and Luttice landed on the ground some distance away from Goku. The Saiyan warrior had collapsed to the ground, exhausted. They watched as Gohan, Krillin and Piccolo joined their companion, glad the battle with Frieza had ended.

"Alright," Cloud said. "That takes care of the first part of the battle. But..."

"It's not over yet," Luttice replied somberly. "We both know what's coming next."

Right as he said this, they heard the ominous sound of an energy beam firing. The beam struck Piccolo right in the chest, and the Namekian collapsed to the ground, a look of shock on his face. Krillin looked on in horror as he saw the culprit.

"N-No way," he stammered in fear.

Standing just a few feet away was Frieza!

"Fine! I'll just kill you all," he snarled.

Raising his hand, he levitated Krillin straight up into the air. Goku could only watch in dismay as his friend was lifted higher up out of reach.

"Stop it, Frieza," he yelled.

Frieza just smirked evilly and then clenched his hand.

"GOKUUUU," Krillin shouted. And then he disappeared in a massive explosion.

Cloud's fist clenched. He had heard of this particular event, but now, witnessing it first-hand, he couldn't believe just how cruel and evil Frieza could be. However, he also knew just what was about to follow.

"Frieza, you just sealed your own fate," Cloud said. "You have no idea the kind of power you've just awakened."

For a moment, there was only deathly silence. Then Goku let out a shout of pure rage at the loss of his best friend.

"How dare you," Goku said, quivering with unbridled fury. The ground shook and golden light began to coalesce around him. "You...are going to pay for this!"

Then there was an explosive blast of golden light. When the light cleared, Goku stood, his hair now golden colored and his eyes a piercing green-blue. And those eyes were focused solely on Frieza.

"That's enough, Frieza," Goku raged. "NOW I'M MAD!"

With that, he charged at Frieza, catching the stunned Galactic tyrant by surprise. Frieza flew backwards and then managed to halt his flight. He then fired off a barrage of energy beams at Goku. The Saiyan warrior didn't even bother to dodge as the beams struck him. When the smoke cleared, Goku was alright, not the least bit phased. Frieza was shocked! What had happened to this Saiyan? Where had this amazing power come from?

"And there it is," Cloud said. "He's become a Super Saiyan."

"I have to say, it's pretty satisfying watching Frieza get the crap beat out of him," Luttice said.

"Good. History is flowing on it's natural course," The Supreme Kai said. "It won't be easy for Goku though. I can sense Towa's magic enhancing Frieza's strength."

"Even as a Super Saiyan, an enhanced Frieza could pose a problem for Goku," Cloud said. "We'd better get down there and help him."

"At least now we don't have to hold back our own Super Saiyan power," Luttice remarked.

Powering up to Super Saiyan, they took flight and headed towards Goku and Frieza...only to be ambushed. Something zoomed in out of nowhere and knocked the two Patrollers aside.

"What the hell," Luttice exclaimed. "What was that?"

Cloud gasped as he caught sight of their assailant. "X!"

"How's it going, losers," X greeted them. "I see I'm just in time for the big battle between Goku and Frieza."

"Move aside," Luttice demanded.

"Make me," X taunted.

"Luttice, go help Goku," Cloud said. "I'll deal with him."

Luttice hesitated a moment, but then nodded, flying off to join Goku. X didn't bother to stop him, and instead faced Cloud.

"So, I've faced off against Hope, Nionn and Scarlet," X said. "Three of the five Saiyans on your team. And I've managed to beat them or fight them to a standstill. So now I guess it's your turn, Cloud."

"You won't be so lucky against me," Cloud said. "The only reason you've managed to be victorious is because we've underestimated you." With a burst of golden light, he transformed into Super Saiyan 3. "I won't make the same mistake."

With that, he charged at X.

Meanwhile, Goku and Frieza were still locked in battle when Luttice came flying in to join the battle.

"What? You, too," Frieza exclaimed, noticing Luttice's golden hair. "What is this?"

"It's just like Vegeta told you, Frieza," Luttice said. "You're dealing with the might of a Super Saiyan."

"Impossible," Frieza yelled. "That's just some fairy tale! There's no such thing!"

"And yet here we are," Luttice said.

"It seems Cloud was right," Goku said.

"What," Luttice asked.

"He said I would understand in time," Goku replied. "I mean, I still don't understand everything, but this...this power. Somehow you guys knew I would discover this for myself. And you knew we'd find a way to bring back our friends who fell in the battle on Earth. So I have to know: Were you aware that Krillin would...?"

"Unfortunately, yes, we did," Luttice said. "But..."

"But it had to happen," Goku said. "For whatever reason, it had to happen. I don't suppose you can tell me how and why?"

"Not just yet," Luttice said. "But trust me, you will find out soon enough."

"Well, you've been right so far," Goku conceded. "Alright. I'll leave it at that then. For now, I suppose we'd better deal with Frieza. By the way, where's Cloud?"

"He's dealing with X at the moment," Luttice replied.

"That masked guy? So he's back, huh," Goku said. "Well, I'm sure he can handle it. Now, then..."

Both Saiyans turned their attention to Frieza.

"One or two Super Saiyans, it makes no difference," Frieza growled. "I will destroy you both!"

Flying up higher, he created a massive purple orb of crackling energy.

"Begone, you Saiyan wretches," Frieza shouted, hurling the orb down at them. "Perish along with this planet!"

The orb struck the surface of the planet and then there was a mighty explosion...

Cloud came to, his head throbbing and ears ringing. Sitting up, he glanced around and gasped in surprise! The landscape had changed. The area was barren rock and molten pools of lava. The sky overhead was fiery-orange with black clouds. Lightning crackled across sky as hot winds gusted across the area.

"What happened," Cloud wondered. "One minute I was fighting X..." He looked around and saw no sign of the masked mercenary. "Where did he...?"

"Cloud!"

Cloud looked up to see Luttice flying down towards him.

"You alright," he asked as he landed.

"I think so," Cloud said. "What happened? What was that explosion?"

"That bastard Frieza tried to blow up the planet and us with it," Luttice explained. "Though it looks like he didn't put too much power into it. Though judging from the state of things, I don't think the planet's going to last too long like this."

"If I remember correctly," Cloud said. "Then Namek will soon explode."

"Hey, what happened to X," Luttice asked, looking around. "Weren't you fighting him?"

"I lost track of him when the explosion occurred," Cloud said.

"Hopefully we got lucky and the bastard was vaporized," Luttice said. "By the way, we still have a battle going on." He pointed upwards.

Cloud looked up and saw both Goku and Frieza floating in the air above them, facing each other.

"Lets get up there and bring this to a finish," Cloud said.

Together, he and Luttice flew up into the air to join their Saiyan ally.

Frieza watched as the two Saiyans approached from below. He had hoped his attack would have finished them off, allowing him to deal with Goku at his leisure. Unfortunately, both had endured and were now heading his way.

"I didn't use enough power," he lamented.

"I see," Goku said, as Cloud and Luttice joined him. "You were afraid of being caught in the explosion. You failed."

Frieza stared at Goku angrily. How he loathed this Saiyan!

"Thinking of your safety at a time like this?"

All eyes turned in the direction of the new voice. The owner of the voice bore a resemblance to Frieza, though he was much taller and sported dark purple skin.

"You always were weak," the new figure sneered.

Frieza could only stare in surprise. "Is...Is that you? Brother!"

Cooler, eldest son of King Cold and Freiza's older brother, had arrived on Namek!
