Luke made his way to where Bo was standing, while Horatio was still talking to Tom.
"Just go Tom. I have the day off."
"See you later." Tom made his way to the riverfront and saw Frank writing notes in a notebook.
"Any id?" Tom asked.
"Drivers license in his wallet." Frank showed him the wallet that was in an evidence bag. "Jon Jones. Ran his name, came up clean." Tom made his way to the body.
"Single gunshot to the head." He looked over the body for any other wounds. "Body wasn't moved. Looks like there was no attempt to hide the body."
"Cocky little sucker, didn't even try to cover up the murder."
"Left this as a warning to others, maybe?" Tom asked.
"Don't appear that way. Place is to remote for anyone to see the message."
"Who found the body?"
"Some kids taking a joyride."
Meanwhile back at Horatio's
"Hey, Bo. You alright?" Bo looked at Luke.
"I'm fine, Lukas." Luke gave Bo a small smirk. "What?"
"The only times you call me Lukas, is when you're mad at me or worried." Bo started to laugh.
"There's other times I call you that." Luke smiled and shook his head.
"Fair enough."
"I don't think we ever had this much trouble anywhere we've gone."
"As soon as Horatio gives the okay, we are outta here." Luke told him.
"The sooner the better." Bo finished up with the horse and lead him to the stall. He made sure the horse had plenty of food and water.
"Well Bo, looks like he's set." Luke commented.
"So, now what do we do?" Bo asked.
"I don't know." They looked around the yard and saw Horatio standing by the door.
"Where did Tom go?" Bo asked Horatio.
"He got called in. May have found the second man involved in your case."
"I'm assuming that's he's dead?"
"You're correct, Luke."
Bo looked around and asked. "So, now what do we do?"
"We could go fishing. I have a small pond about a half mile that way." Horatio pointed to where the pond was. Bo looked at Luke and he just shrugged.
"Sure, why not."
"I'll get the poles." They followed Horatio to the shed and got the fishing gear. They all made their way to the pond, while Tom made his way to the lab.
"Walter, I got a bullet for you." Tom gave the bullet to Walter, for him to process. When Walter got done, he gave Horatio a call.
"Jon Jones was the man that was found dead this morning. Jon worked for Miss Channing. Also owed his bookie a lot of money. Bullet from Jon matches the one I shot from Cole's gun. Which also matches the one you got from Bo." Walter explained to Horatio.
"I'm thinking that, they were the ones that tried to steal the horse, for repayment of Jon's debt. Bo and Luke got in their way."
"Bad timing on their part. You think there are more players?" Walter asked.
"No. Jon was with Miss Channing at the bank, when Bo and Luke bought back the horse. He knew that we had the horse and told Cole. Cole followed Bo and Ryan and tried to take the horse, for a second time."
"Well, another case in the books." Walter closed the case file and placed the bullets into the evidence box.
"Bo and Luke will be happy that they can now go home." Horatio replied.
"I bet. I'm going to put the evidence file away, then head home."
"See you Monday, Walter."
"Monday it is, Horatio." Horatio hung up the phone and told the Duke boys the good news.
"So, you two are free to go." Luke looked at the clock.
"You mind if we stay one more night?"
"That's not a problem, Luke." Several hours later, they all made their way to bed. The next day after breakfast, Bo and Luke were getting the horse ready to go. As Bo was putting the horse in the trailer, Dave drove up.
"Hi Dave. What's up?" Horatio said as he walked up to his car.
"Bo and Luke still here?" Horatio nodded and pointed to the barn. Dave got out of the car and walked up to the boys. Bo turned around when he heard footsteps approaching. He whistled at Luke to get his attention. Luke looked towards the barn door and saw Dave walk in.
"Morning."
"Morning." Dave put out his hand and Luke shook it.
"Before you leave. You think you could sign this?" Dave showed Bo and Luke a picture of them at their last NASCAR race. "I never had the chance to meet you two when you were racing." Bo smiled at the picture, took the pen and signed his name. Luke signed under Bo's signature. He handed the picture back to Dave.
"Thanks guys."
"You're welcome." Luke replied.
"One more thing?" Luke saw the phone in his hand, looked at Bo; who shrugged and replied, "Sure." Dave smiled like a kid in a candy store. Horatio took the phone and Dave stood in between Luke and Bo. Horatio took several pictures and then handed the phone back to Dave.
"Thanks again."
"If you ever get to Hazzard, stop on by the farm. We'll give you a ride in The General Lee." Luke told him.
"No kidding?"
"No kidding." Bo replied.
"I do have some vacation time owed." Luke wrote down the address and directions. "Here's our address, phone number and some directions to the farm." Luke gave him the piece of paper, held out his hand and Dave shook it. Bo did the same. As Dave shook his hand he told Bo. "I'm sorry you guys got hurt here."
"Thanks."
"Take it easy." Dave made his way back to his house, as Bo and Luke finished loading the truck.
"I packed you two a care package for the road." Horatio handed Bo a brown paper sack, full of sandwiches, chips and a couple cans of soda.
"Thank you for everything."
"My pleasure. I hope your ride home goes smooth."
"Me too." Bo smiled as he held out his hand. Horatio shook his hand, then Luke's.
"Take care." Luke said to Horatio, as they made their way to the truck. Luke started the truck and put it in drive.
"We best get back to Hazzard before anything else happens."
"You got that right, Bo." They drove away as Horatio watched them leave. The ride home was uneventful, to which Bo was grateful. They pulled in the farm yard 10 hours later. Daisy heard a vehicle pull in the drive and walked out of the barn. She waved as she saw who was driving.
"Hey guys!" She walked up to the truck and gave them a hug, as they got out of the truck.
"Hey, Daisy. Watch the shoulder." Bo said as she hugged him.
"I can't believe how trouble finds you two, no matter where you go."
"Got that right." Bo smiled as he went to the trailer to get the horse out.
"You keeping him?" She asked.
"Yeah." Bo lead the horse to the barn.
"I'm glad he got him back. Trigger is a good horse."
"What happened there, in Florida?" She asked Luke.
"A stable hand owed his bookie a lot of money. Wanted the horse, we got in the way."
"As usual." Bo added as he walked back to the trailer. When Bo went back into the barn, Luke continued to explain to Daisy what happened.
"I'm so glad that you two are home. Taking care of these animals is hard work. I don't know how you do it."
"We certainly appreciate you're help."
"Coy did most of the hard work, while I watched Tommy."
"Well, looks like we owe him several dinners." Bo replied as he walked up to Luke. "Horse is all set. Want to back the trailer into the other barn?"
"Yeah, can you get the door?" Bo nodded as he walked towards the barn. They got everything put away and got ready for dinner. Coy and Tommy joined them and afterwards they said their goodbyes. Several hours later, Bo and Luke made their way to bed, to get rested for a new day.
