Author's Note: Holy crap... it has been a WHILE, huh gang? Sorry about that... 2020... it was, needless to say as I am sure everyone knows, a shit show. And updating became hard because the motivation just wasn't there for one thing because the world has been crap and I actually wasn't someone who was allowed to stay and work from home, given my job. I have been working since the pandemic broke and so, I just... haven't had a minute to update properly.
I don't think I did too badly since my last update for Subscribe was June of 2020 so I did okay until I physically went back into my workplace which I did warn in my last update, for those who sent messages basically moaning about me being absent lmao.
Anywho; I am back and before anything else; HAPPY NEW YEAR FRIENDS. Let's all hope 2021 isn't as crap as 2020. My schedule for Subscribe is gonna be as it was; updates on the last Wednesday of the month. However, as you'll see below, I'm posting from July and I'm basically playing catch up.
I'll be randomly posting over the next few months, just until I get caught up i.e January's post should, in theory be at the end of the month and as long as I concentrate on writing, I should have 5 chapters posted before we reach that, covering the months I've missed.
Hope that makes sense and hope you enjoy this one! It was fun to write and it was nice to write a chapter that really had a focus on just BBRae.
Let me know what you think of it; I love hearing the feedback!
Thanks!

"So, Rae… you excited for this video?" Gar queried, the smirk teasing the corners of his lips as he made sure the camera was steady on the mini tripod. He positioned it behind the basin, in between it and the large mirror that hung on the wall.
Raven exhaled noisily and tilted her head slightly, "Not in the slightest but I've agreed to it now so let's get it over with."
Gar chuckled as he sat back from focusing the lens of the camera and peered into the viewfinder to make sure they were both in frame, "You're gonna love it."
"Uh huh."
Bringing his arms back widely, Gar beamed at the camera and kept his eyes on the lens that gazed at him, "Whaaat's up guys, it's Gar and welcome back to your favourite channel on the whole of YouTube. It's okay, you don't have to say it. I get you guys. I know you all. I'm on y'all's wavelengths about this kinda thing!"
"How does your ego even fit through that door?" Raven mumbled, a teasing twinkle in her indigo eyes,
"With a lot of shoving, lemme' tell you." He winked at the camera before he slapped his hands together, his demeanor turning softer for a moment, "So, hope you guys are all doing super. Hope someone's told you all is well and you are loved."
Raven smiled a little at that and straightened up in the chair she was sat upon, minutely fixing the way her clothing was clinging to her torso. She wore an off the shoulder check pattern lumber shirt in a deep emerald tone that was loosely buttoned to give a more casual appearance, with a thin strap black vest underneath. She wore a simple silver chain around her neck that had a small bird shaped pendant in the middle of it whilst her hair was all pinned up into a messy bun with a few stray strands poking out here and there.
Gar wore a basic white and black baseball style t-shirt with the sleeves scrunched up around his elbows with just a black snapback on his head, facing back to front so that some of his green tinted spikes poked through the gap of the hat.
They sat at the counter in their bathroom; their lower halves hidden by the bulky piece of furniture, with the pristine white toilet and shower situated just behind them, signalling exactly where they were.
"And, if they haven't been told those things?" Raven prompted, lifting a brow at him,
Gar smirked and curled his fingers into a heart shape towards the camera, "Then let me tell you… you are all loved and all is well in the world. Keep doing your best through this crazy experience called life, guys."
"Cute." Raven deadpanned, smiling a little at his nature,
"Anyway… onto today's video, which from the title, you've probably already guessed, exactly what it is." Gar paused and a toothy grin filled his face, "Someone suggested a video based on different things and one of them that was mentioned was a makeup challenge type of video and although it might be a little different to what was in mind, we thought this would be something fun to do. And, Rae actually happened to agree to let me do it so we're going for it, guys."
Raven sighed and folded her arms over her chest, "Well, since we're trying to stay home still and be good, I couldn't really say no. I mean, honestly, what would my excuse have been?"
Gar suddenly threw an arm around her shoulder and squished his cheek against hers, "Well, I think this will be fun and you're gonna have the best time, babe."
"Sure."
He smirked and released her, his forest eyes sweeping back to the lens of the camera once more, "So, today, I'm going to be doing my girlfriend's makeup which means we are hunkering down here in our bathroom. Dick and Kory are downstairs in the movie room, watching some Disney movie, I think and Vic is tinkering with his car in the garage so we thought, why not do it now?"
Raven wiggled on her chair and splayed her hands out over the counter which was covered in different makeup products, just waiting to be picked up and used, "I've put out all the things that Gar will need to do this and it will be pretty interesting… I'm not the heaviest of makeup users so… I'm intrigued to see what this idiot does to my face."
Gar turned and grinned, giving the camera a 'thumbs up' pose before he waved a hand dismissively, "Honey, ya gonna look gorgeous." He told her, imitating a thick new jersey type of accent,
She rolled her eyes and swiveled, getting up and slipping away from her seat, "Mm hm… well, I'm going to go and wash my face in one of the other bathrooms, since your camera is right in the splash zone. Be back in a second."
"Okay, babe!" Gar called, his eyes already scanning over all the bottles and compacts lining the counter,
Gar slapped his hands together, rubbing his palms up against one another as he eyed the camera, continuously blinking red, "Alright… Rae is back and she is all clean and fresh faced."
Without so much of a twitch of her lips, Raven gently patted her fingers against her cheek, "And Gar's about to ruin it."
"Ye of little faith, Rae." Gar snorted, before glancing solely towards the camera, "Now, as stated, my lovely girlfriend has made this a little bit easier for me. Rae's gone ahead and laid everything out on the counter that a girl may use on her face…"
He trailed off as he glanced over all the bottles and products in front of them and pulled a face, "How can girls even be bothered with this much stuff on their faces?"
Raven shrugged, "I don't understand girls that wear pageant style makeup on a day to day basis. I mean… it must weigh down your face or something…"
Gar chuckled and gestured towards her, "Exactly! That's what I'm sayin'!"
"Well, those girls deserve awards because I certainly can't be bothered to do that every day."
Gar nodded in agreement before his attention reverted back to the camera, "So, there's some ruling here. Raven isn't allowed to tell me anything about what I'm using like if it's the right product or if I'm using it correctly. Nothing. Nada. Bupkis."
"They get the picture. Start it already." Raven droned, tilting her head to look at him,
Gar pressed his lips into a thin line and tapped his chin with his fingertips, eyes stroking the possibilities lined out on the counter.
"Hm… what goes first…" He murmured, whilst Raven merely looked at the camera for a moment.
Leaning forward, Gar grabbed a frosted 30ml bottle that had a black cap on the top, with a sleek slap of lettering on the front which Gar peered at and muttered, "Mac." He paused, "As in… Mac and cheese?"
Raven withheld a smirk but closed her eyes briefly, "That's… one thing to compare it to."
He shook the bottle in his hand, watching the light tone liquid moving around inside. Gar's eyes brightened suddenly, "Oh! I know what this is!" He crowed, "This is foundation."
Raven smiled, "Good job. It is foundation."
"Yeah, I see you put this on in the morning and it's like some kind of cosmetic art. You just splash it on and then next time I see you, you're all up looking like a porcelain model."
Snorting, Raven waved her hand, "Thanks… are you sure you want to put foundation on me first?"
Gar narrowed his eyes at the bottle in his hand and slowly replaced it, setting it back down on the bathroom counter, "Rae, that was clearly a hint!"
"No it wasn't. I was just asking you."
"Mhm… well, I'll wait because I'm assuming that is not what goes on first." Gar mumbled, his face disappearing off screen for a second as he searched through the products again.
Raven chewed on her lower lip as she watched him trying to comprehend the army of cosmetic items lined up on the counter.
Suddenly, he yelped and sat back, a chubby pen with a green lid on the top of it, "Hold up! What the heck is this stuff!?" He laughed, unscrewing the lid and peering at the nib of green beneath.
"I'm not allowed to tell you, remember?"
Gar burst into another round of giggles as he turned and twisted it, trying to see if he was missing something, "I don't get it. Do girls use this to like… change it up and become a different colour for the day?"
Raven's brows shot to her hairline and she shook her head, "What? No. Of course not, you idiot."
Putting the lid back on it, he turned it over and read the label which read, 'Color correcting pen.'
"Uh, I beg to differ, Rae. Color correction. It means you can turn purple for the day if you wanna."
Raven lifted a hand and placed it over her face, before Gar smirked and set the pen down once more, "Well, I'm gonna guess that isn't first either."
He rummaged around on the bathroom counter for another minute or so, turning things back and forth and groaning in despair when he was unsuccessful at finding what he wanted to know, "This is so stupid! Why does nothing have labels on? How do girls remember what they are and how they go on?"
"It's a skill that most girls develop, apparently." Raven replied, watching with amusement as he picked up bottle after bottle, as if he had any clue of how to do this.
Leaning forwards, Gar scooped up a tall bottle with clear liquid inside and a blank black cap which he immediately pulled off, revealing a spray nozzle. He turned it left and right before he tilted it to read the label on the bottom,
"Priming spray?" Gar echoed, after having read it.
Raven raised a brow at him expectantly, trying her best not to give anything away.
"Wait… I saw something else that said that…" He dove across the space and grabbed a thick cylinder container that was half filled with a creamy substance, "This is primer too."
"Mhm."
"As in like… paint?"
Raven blinked at him blankly, "What?"
"Like paint primer?" Gar responded, with a straight face,
Raven opened her mouth but faltered, seeing where he was coming from with that one, "Oh… I guess."
Gar peered down at the two items he held in each hand, "Well… with that theory, I'm assuming primer goes first. But… psh." He paused and threw the bottle of priming spray over his shoulder, landing on the top of his clothes filled hamper,
Raven's eyes widened as she watched him and she gently punched his arm, "Don't do that. The last thing I need is broken makeup."
"It landed in the hamper!" He rebuffed before looking back at the liquid primer in his hand, "Surely you don't need priming spray and primer. That makes no sense. We'll just use one."
Raven shrugged her shoulders, keeping her dark eyes trained on him.
He scooted closer to her and cleared his throat as he unscrewed the cap of the primer and squeezed a considerable amount onto his fingertips, causing Raven to jolt a little at how much of it he was using.
Gar set it aside on the counter, far enough away from the other products so that he wouldn't accidentally use it again or get confused.
Rubbing his hands together, Gar grinned as he suddenly smothered it across Raven's cheek, moving his fingers in circular movements, dragging the product all around the skin on her face, "God this stuff smells weird… like plastic."
Raven snapped her eyes shut as he got a little too close to her lash line as he continued rubbing it into her skin, "Well, makeup isn't exactly known for smelling amazing."
Gar chuckled quietly, "This is so weird."
"Well, if we weren't wary of the coronavirus beforehand, we're not exactly setting a good example now." Raven muttered,
He grinned, even though she couldn't see him, "Don't do this at home right now, kids."
Raven smiled briefly at that.
"Okay…" Gar paused and leaned back, holding his palms up, "I think that's done."
Her eyelashes fluttered until her eyes opened and she narrowed them at him, "You know, I put brushes out for a reason."
Gar blinked and glanced down at the alignment of makeup brushes on the counter, "Oh yeah. I forgot."
"Great. Next." Raven murmured,
"You know, I keep looking at this colour corrector thing. I'm gonna use it. I'm probably doing it wrong but I just can't not use it!" Gar exclaimed, picking up the green one in particular.
He shook it before he popped the cap off, which had a small applicator wand on the end of it. Gar peered closer at it and even went as far to sniff it,
Raven pulled a face, tilting her head in his direction, "Why? Why would you even want to smell it?"
He shrugged, "I dunno. Curious since the primer smelled funky."
"You are so weird." She murmured, sitting forward and tilting her face closer to him, as if offering it as a canvas for him to continue working upon.
Grinning, Gar dipped the applicator back into the bottle, soaking the soft edge with as much of the thick green liquid as he could,
"Just…" Raven muttered as he started drawing and leaving green streaks and lines all across her cheeks and forehead. She blinked and sighed, "Nevermind."
"I think I'm doing a really good job with getting it all over, actually." Gar stated, screwing the cap of the color corrector back into place, with the applicator back inside as well. He placed it down and chewed on his lip as he considered the random makeup brushes in front of him.
Gar reached for a fairly small brush and began swirling it around, draggin the green product with it. Raven scrunched up her face as he continued; no essence of finesse or accuracy in his gestures.
After a long moment, Gar sat back, looking proud of himself, "There. I think I pretty much nailed it with the color corrector stuff."
Raven opened her eyes and half jerked as she peered at the mirror behind the camera, "I look like Shrek."
"I don't think it matters, Rae. I'm putting more stuff over it anyway!" He paused and smirked as he put the brush down, leaving the green color correction half buffed into her skin, "Sides, I was thinking more Hulk. Especially when you get mad."
"Oh har har." She deadpanned, rolling her eyes,
Gar wriggled his fingers, his hand hovering over the products on the counter as he surveyed his choices. He grinned and grabbed the bottle of the porcelain foundation that he had studied earlier.
He shook it up and blindly reached over for a random, fluffy kabuki brush to apply the foundation with.
"Foundation time!" He sang, waving the brush back and forth for a moment before it soared through the air, plummeting to the bathroom floor with a thump.
He dove towards the ground, yelping, "5 second rule!"
Raven blinked at him before turning her head towards the camera lens, mouthing, 'This is what he should be using.' as she held up the beauty blender for a moment before placing it back where it was and just allowing him to go rogue with this little makeover she was receiving.
Gar's head popped back up, gripping the fluffy brush between his fingers, "Ready to be foundation...ised?" He struggled, pausing as he tried to word his sentence.
"That's not a word." Raven replied, smiling slightly,
"I'll make a note to call the dictionary people and double check, just in case." He murmured as he scooted closer to her, lifting the foundation bottle with his opposite hand.
He squirted the liquid onto the brush about three times, covering the whole top surface of the brush whilst Raven's eyes widened to the size of dinner plates and her mouth fell open in disbelief.
"What?" Gar queried, completely missing why she looked so horrified,
She closed her mouth and blinked at him, "Nothing."
Gar grinned and started dabbing the thick layer of foundation all over Raven's face as if he were painting a blank canvas. She jerked her head back slightly, thrown by his lack of method and scribble like style instead.
He swirled the brush in a circular motion, humming to himself and spreading the product as far as he could before he grasped the foundation again and squirted some more onto the brush. Raven's brows furrowed as she watched him, wishing she could be more vocal but kept remembering her vow of not helping.
Diving back into it, Gar kept sweeping the brush against her forehead, getting the light liquid into her dark hairline,
"Okay, close your eyes, Rae." He directed her,
Raven raised an eyebrow but obliged him, closing her eyes and immediately flinching when he started blotting the foundation across her eyelids.
He paused and pulled away, smiling in the camera's direction as he placed the dirty kabuki brush back down on the counter.
"There. I think I'm done with that part, babe." He announced,
Raven slowly fluttered her eyes until they were open and she glanced in the mirror behind where the camera was perched, "Wow… uh…"
"I think I did a pretty good job!"
She held her breath, refusing to voice her inner thoughts. Her face was extremely pale and she couldn't help but stare at her reflection for a long moment.
Raven cleared her throat and looked back at him, trying to ignore the cakey effect and missed areas on her face. She nodded, "Mhm… uh… what are you going to use next?"
Gar shrugged and grinned as he looked over the remaining products.
"Ooh! I know! It's the powder, right?" He exclaimed, snatching the pot of fine translucent powder and shaking it right in front of the camera to show his viewers.
Inhaling deeply, Raven tilted her head, "If… that's the one you want to go for, then sure."
He nodded, twisting the cap off the top, surprised to see a powder puff, already inside, "Oh, cool! This already has a thing inside to use. That makes it way easier!"
Raven shook her head, amused at his enthusiasm.
Slipping his index and middle finger in at the back of the puff, he scooped up a hefty layer of powder on it and glanced up at his girlfriend, "Okay, Rae. Close your eyes."
She did as she was told whilst Gar patted her face, right in the centre, causing a thick cloud of powder to surround her whole head, "Whoa." He chuckled, turning his face away before he could inhale.
Raven's eyes snapped open and she started coughing and waving the cloud of cosmetic smoke away. Gar helped her, waving his hand around as well to make it dissipate faster.
"Sorry, Rae." He paused and looked at the puff, "I think I may have put a little too much on."
Clearing her throat several times, she offered him a sarcastic smile, "You think?"
He grinned sheepishly, using his free hand to rub the back of his neck, "Okay, I'll ease up… close your eyes again."
Raven nodded and did so, allowing him to dab at her face with the puff; much more gentle than he had initially been.
He pressed it all around her face, never wiping the excess away but just adding more where there wasn't any.
After a moment, Gar sat back, his eyes checking her face over to be certain he was all done.
"Yep! You're good, Rae!" He sang, putting the puff back in the tub and placing the cap back on.
Raven peered into the mirror and found herself opening and closing her mouth, clear creases appearing around her mouth, nose and forehead; her skin feeling tight and dry from the combination of so much foundation and powder.
"O-Oh… wow... yep… I'm definitely… good." She stammered, shifting her eyes to him with a tiny smile.
"By the end of this, Rae, you're gonna look like a porcelain Victorian doll." He informed her, aiming for a compliment.
"Yeah… Victorian doll… Victorian ghost… you know, same thing." She mumbled, casting a sidelong glance at him,
He screwed his face up a little and smirked, "You just wait, woman. I'm gonna get top marks for this makeover."
"Mhm… what's the next thing?" She prompted,
Gar smiled and picked up a thin, dark crayon like pen, "Eyebrows, honey. Eyebrows."
Raven breathed a quiet laugh and sat forward, relaxing her expression as much as possible for him to fill her eyebrows in. He popped the cap off the brow pen and gently touched her chin with his fingertips, angling her head upwards.
He pressed against her brows, colouring and scribbling and trying his best to define his girl's brows. Gar didn't think too much about how dark the pen was, considering Raven's eyebrows were pretty close to ebony anyway. Before long, he was onto her opposite eyebrow and trying his best to match the work he had done on the first.
Gar twisted the cap back on and set it aside. He pulled back and frowned, confusion clouding his expression as he stared at her.
"God, what's that face mean?" She sighed, already growing concerned about what she looked like,
He scratched his chin as he considered, "I… don't know. I filled them and all but… they seem darker… I don't know…"
Raven straightened up, looking at herself in the mirror, her brows shooting up to her hairline in surprise. The closest comparison to her eyebrows was that of dual slugs; dark and thick, taking refuge above her eyes.
"Oh… they're uh… defined, at least." She commented, wriggling them and almost laughing at the fact they barely moved when she did so.
"Do you hate them?"
She shook her head, "You're doing a better job than I thought you would so far, in all honesty."
"Thank… you?" He asked, unsure,
She blew him a kiss and smirked, "You're welcome. Are you done with my eyebrows?"
Gar nodded and tapped his chin as he surveyed the last few objects sitting on the bathroom counter, "I think I'll go with… blush next and aw, you're a peach. You gave me two options."
"Well, you know me." Raven deadpanned,
Gar hummed to himself for a second, "Sunset rose or Candy gem… hmm…"
"I know… a very important decision."
He pulled a face and playfully nudged her and waved the 'Sunset rose' shade before he grappled for a medium sized makeup brush and swirled it into the pressed powder product.
"Okay… I've seen girls do this on TV and stuff. Smile so I can get your… cheek bones." Gar instructed,
Raven bit her lip to stop herself from laughing and did as he asked. He immediately set to work on filling her cheeks with colour, but instead of remaining at the apple like he was supposed to, he swirled the brush further down, colouring her whole cheek with a heavy pink/orange tint.
He cringed and snorted, glancing cheekily at the camera before he shrugged and worked on the other cheek, ensuring that they at least matched.
"So… I think I got a little trigger happy here." Gar chuckled, leaning back so that Raven could get a look for herself.
Raven briefly giggled and turned her head from left to right, inspecting the utter bright mess on her cheeks, "Oh my God, Gar." She admonished but not at all in a stern manner,
"I mean… I've kinda solved the pale problem with this." He grinned,
She half heartedly shrugged and nodded, "That's… sort of true."
"Right… blush is done. Um… I think I'll put some… bronzer on you?" He paused as he picked up the only bronzer compact on the counter, opening it and swishing the same brush he had used for blush against the dark pressed powder, "Now… I might be wrong here because I only really half pay attention when you're putting makeup on but… you don't really use this… do you?"
Raven tilted her head from side to side in consideration and chewed on her lower lip, "Um… not always. Or if I do, I only use a tiny amount… It's not great for pale girls… or at least, I don't find it that useful for me. It tends to help define girls faces when a little darker. Kory or Karen for example would be able to use it nicely. Whereas me and… maybe Jenii would struggle." She paused, "Though… she is a part time makeup artist so she might not."
"So… what you're saying is… don't use a lot." Gar surmised,
She clicked her fingers and pointed at him, "Bingo."
He laughed and reached towards her, every so slightly brushing the tip of the brush with the bronzer on, against the hollow of her cheek before doing the same on the other side of her face.
"Okay… that's it. I'm scared I'll mess the whole look up otherwise." Gar explained, setting everything down on the counter,
Raven tried her best not to laugh, "Yeah… you really wouldn't want to ruin… all of this."
"It's a masterpiece so far and you know it." Gar scoffed,
"Uh huh… just get on with the next thing. The amount of product on my face is starting to make my skin itch a little."
Gar turned towards the camera and beamed, "Now for maybe my favourite thing girls have in their makeup arsenal, guys." He paused and his hand shot into the frame, showing off a pot of highlighter that shimmered like a handful of diamonds under the ring light in the room, "This shiny shit is crazy."
"Highlighter? That's your favourite thing about makeup?"
"Duh! Look at it, Rae! It's so cool." He confirmed, popping the lid off, "I could make your face look like a disco ball if I put it all over."
For a brief moment, Raven looked unnerved at the prospect of that but he grinned and reassured her,
"Don't worry. I know where this is supposed to go on a girls face."
Raven rolled her shoulders back and leaned forward, watching carefully as Gar rubbed the tips of his fingers into the smooth consistency of the pressed highlighter, causing his fingers to go a white silvery tone,
"Okay, look up a little more." He murmured, waiting until Raven had done so to continue.
His tongue poked out from between his lips, ever so slightly as his brows knitted together in concentration. He started tapping his fingertips along her cheek bone, wiping and spreading it so it wasn't just all in one place.
Gar did the same for the other side of her face and then hummed a tune whilst he rubbed some onto the bridge and end of her nose, as well as a tiny amount on her chin and brow bones, just to add some sparkle to those parts of her face.
Raven turned her head and looked in the mirror, her eyes widening in surprise. She angled her face left and right, trying to see if there was a spot he missed or messed up but there were none.
"Huh… I'm impressed, Gar… the highlighter… looks pretty good, actually." She admitted,
Gar grinned, a glint in his eye, "See? I'm full of surprises, babe."
"Yeah, but being handy with highlighter isn't a surprise I saw coming… at all..."
He laughed to himself and smeared the remainder of the highlighter over his t-shirt, "We're getting there, Rae. I think we're almost done. And get ready because eyes are next, babe."
She gave into a shaky sigh, "Just… please don't poke me in the eyes with anything and be careful."
"I will be!" Gar argued, waving a dismissive hand,
"I mean it, Gar. I'm not going blind for one of your videos."
He smirked whilst he stretched across the counter to pick up a large eyeshadow palette which had been placed all the way over from where he sat, "Aw but Rae, think of the views I'd get." He teased,
"Hmm… you're funny." She said, unable to help the small smile on her foundation covered lips,
Gar looked downwards at the eyeshadow palette, "I'm so excited for this part. I'm not gonna do anything fancy because I'll just suck at it. I think I'm gonna just pick one colour and do a subtle eye thing."
"Side note… this palette has… the brightest rainbow colours inside and it is not mine. We borrowed it from Kory for this video since… Gar wanted colour and I own nothing like that." Raven admitted, "Whereas Kory has… a million eyeshadow palettes."
"More, I think." Gar mumbled, "Hm…"
"See any that you like?" Raven asked, looking down at the colours as well.
Gar slowly nodded and lifted the palette, turning it towards the camera to show all the eyeshadow pans sitting in the holder itself, "Look at all of these, you guys."
There were a range of colours from lemon yellow to ocean blue to fuschia pink but Gar didn't think Raven would take too kindly to smothering her eyes in pink stuff.
"I got it. I think I'll do this one…" He muttered, awkwardly pointing towards a neon lime green colour.
Raven sighed and smirked, "Wow. Subtle."
"It's my favourite colour so… I don't know. It makes sense in my head."
She shrugged, "I did say you could go with whatever so… have at it."
Seeing his literal green light, Gar rooted around the army of makeup brushes until he picked up a small, flat type of brush that he thought looked perfect for doing eyeshadow with,
He scrubbed the pan of green eyeshadow with the brush, coating practically the entirety of the brush with an electric green, "Okay, close your eyes, Rae."
She did so with a deep breath and turned her face upwards so he could see her eyelids clearly.
Gar lifted his hand, holding the brush between his fingers like how he would hold a pen and swiped it right onto Raven's right eyelid. A bold streak of toxic green stained her eyelid and this fuelled him, with Gar adding more and more until her whole eyelid was a bright green shade.
"Ah fuck." He muttered,
"What?"
"Some of it fell onto your face." Gar explained, "I got it."
Without thinking, he used his fingers to brush the dusty green fallout, sitting on the top of her cheek. He made a high pitched yelp sound, "No!"
"Smeared it, huh?" Raven guessed,
"Yeah." Gar confirmed, "Damn it! Lemme try…"
He trailed off and Raven jumped as she suddenly felt Gar blowing on her eye area, trying to get rid of any green, not on her eyelid.
"Ah! Gar." She grunted,
"Man, now I'm mad."
She gently brushed her fingers against his shoulder and smiled, her eyes still closed, "Don't be. That happens to me on the odd occasion when I do put eyeshadow on. It's called fallout. To avoid it, try tapping the brush on the side of the palette before applying it."
"Hmm… okay…" He said, doing what she said as he picked up more eyeshadow, in preparation for doing her other eyelid. He tapped the brush against the palette, a small puff of green powder visible on the camera.
Gar gently painted the eyeshadow onto her other eyelid and began building it up, just like he had with the first. Soon, there was a layer of lime green eyeshadow on both eyelids and this time, there was next to no 'fallout' as Raven had referred to it.
"Hey, good tip, Rae. I didn't really get any with this side." He grinned, although only the viewers could see his expression.
Leaning away from her, Gar tapped Raven's knee to let her know she could open her eyes whilst he reached for another object on the bathroom counter.
"Wow." Raven said as she stared at herself in the mirror, "I… well… it's definitely green, Gar."
"My favourite colour, on my favourite person." He cooed,
A deeper blush filtered across Raven's cheeks, only serving to intensify the 'Sunset Rose',
"You sap." She mumbled,
Gar chuckled and straightened up, a thin black pen in his hand, "I think I'm gonna fail this part though…"
"What is it?" Raven asked, tilting her body so she could peek over his shoulder.
"Eyeliner… and y'know, I already know how difficult this is for girls as a general rule. I've heard both you and Kory practically swearing when you mess it up."
Raven gave him a blank look, "It's one of the most frustrating things about makeup. Eyeliner can make or break it."
"Do you want me to attempt a 'winged' liner on you?"
"Attempt whatever you want."
With that, she closed her eyes, raising her eyebrows in an attempt to smooth the small wrinkles in her eyelids so that Gar had a better chance of doing it nicely.
Pulling off the lid of the liner, Gar took a deep breath and levelled his hand with Raven's eyes, trying to quell the slight shake of his limb. He carefully reached up and used his index finger to press against the side of her eye and drag, stretching the skin for cleaner application.
Gar bit down on his lower lip and touched the tip of the liner pen to the corner of her eye, slowly drawing a thick line from there to the very edge of her lid, flicking it ever so slightly for a 'winged' look.
It wasn't the smoothest line he had ever drawn, with slight wobbling evident from the way the eyeliner looked on her. He squinted and tilted Raven's face more toward the camera so that his viewers could make their own opinions on his handiwork so far.
He went back over the line several times, feeling more and more confident in his abilities as he continued.
Soon, there was a bold, thick eyeliner stroke across the top of her eyelid that really did emphasize the green eyeshadow.
Gar blinked at his girlfriend for a long moment before he nodded to himself in approval and set about doing the other eye.
When he pulled away and revealed Raven to the camera, it was quite clear that the eyeliner was not identical. In fact, they weren't even sisters. Better yet, they could just about be cousins.
"Tada! What'd ya think, Rae?" He cheered, happy with what he had done.
Raven opened her eyes slowly and jerked back a little in surprise at her appearance.
"Oh… it's um… definitely bold…" She replied, awkwardly.
"Mascara time!" Gar called, waving the stick of black mascara around.
Raven's eyes widened and she stared at him intently, "Please try your hardest to be careful. I really don't need to be poked in the eyes with this, Gar."
He made a 'pshhh' noise and tilted his head, "Babe, you trust me, don't ya?"
She looked between him and the mascara he held between his fingers, "Uh… mostly…"
He chuckled loudly, "Raven, c'mon. Look up. I promise I wont stab you with the makeup."
"Oookay…" Raven murmured, uneasily as she tilted her chin upwards and cast her eyes towards the ceiling.
Gar scooted forwards on his seat, unscrewing the mascara cap and pulling it from the tube, the application wand covered in the thick black substance.
"Isn't this the stuff that you complain never comes off your eyelashes?" Gar queried,
Raven shrugged as she anticipated him putting it on her, "It stains so if I'm showering around 2 days later or something, it still leaves marks around my eyes when I get out."
"Maybe it's secretly a melted down sharpie and no one has realized yet." Gar hummed as he shakily lifted a hand and started curling the wand against the underside of Raven's lashes, trying his damndest to not only avoid stabbing her in the eye but also to avoid messing up his work so far.
Raven smiled softly, "And girls have just been putting liquid marker pens on their eyes for years? Hm… I could see it."
He grinned as he continued to smother her lashes in mascara, his tongue poking out from between his lips as he concentrated on what he was doing. After a long moment, he leaned back and threw a cautious glance over his shoulder, in the direction of the camera and the mirror before he set to work on her other set of lashes.
Gar gently tapped the side of her chin, indicating that he wanted her to turn her head which Raven did without falter. He took a deep breath, held it for a moment and released slowly.
His hand steadied ever so slightly as he reached up and flicked the wand over her eyelashes, cursing under his breath when a few tiny specks of mascara ended up just under her eye. He blew on them immediately, thinking better of dabbing at the marks and presumably making them worse. He bit his lower lip as he continued to brush her lashes with the applicator, smearing the mascara through, giving them a full, luscious appearance.
Rearing his head back to examine his work, Gar let go of a breath, audibly sighing, 'phew' when he saw it wasn't actually the worst he could have done. Raven blinked a few times, ensuring the mascara didn't dry with her top and bottom lashes sticking together.
She tipped closer, staring at her reflection and she pulled an expression of surprise. Raven shrugged and turned her face slightly from left to right, admiring her thick layer of mascara.
"Mm… not bad, Gar." She told him,
Gar grinned, smug, "Maybe I should swap my Youtuber title for makeup artist."
"I wouldn't go that far."
He rolled his eyes playfully and set the capped mascara back on the counter. He slouched, dropping his hands to his knees, "Okay… I think I'm all done, Rae."
Raven lifted a dark eyebrow, "You sure about that?"
Gar tilted his head to the side, questioningly which further prompted his girlfriend to extensively pout her lips, puckering them pointedly.
He blinked for a moment before he jolted in realization, "Oh! Right!"
Before he did anything else, he gently held her face in place and briefly pressed his lips to hers, smiling as she blushed upon pulling away.
She rolled her eyes, trying her best to act nonchalant but the rosy tinge on her cheeks was telling, "Idiot." She muttered,
Gar chuckled and glanced down at the counter where a pot of lipsticks sat, "Which one should I do?"
"You can choose whichever colour you want."
"Ooh… I'm spoilt for choice." He teased, before his eyes locked onto the camera, "Guys, Raven has like… 6 lipsticks. That's it."
"I don't need a lot. And if I ever need other colours, I ask Kory. She practically has a whole closet full."
Gar's eyes widened, "Really? So, we say Dick and Kory's room but most of the stuff in there has gotta be Kory's." He laughed,
Raven smiled, "Most likely."
Grasping one of the lipsticks he had been eyeing up, Gar popped the cap off the top and twisted the bottom, revealing an ebony lipstick; as dark as the night.
"Black?" Raven asked, earning a curt nod, "Good choice."
"I thought you would approve." He replied, "Dude, pucker your lips again… but not as much."
Raven did as she was asked as Gar leaned in and started running the tip of the lipstick along her bottom lip, trying his best not to get a wobbly line around her mouth. He clicked his tongue a couple of times as he attempted a slower approach, really taking his time in an effort to perfect the last stage of Raven's makeover.
Once he'd gotten the outline of her lips relatively done, he loosened up a little and filled the middle of her lower and top lip, trying his hardest to draw a defined cupid's bow.
"This doesn't feel as hard as it should be." Gar murmured,
Raven simply raised an eyebrow at that, since she couldn't really verbally reply.
"Well, you have really nice lips, Rae. It makes it easier."
She breathed out a half laugh at that.
Gar sat back, beaming and motioned to her, "Do that thing girls do. Smack and rub your lips together."
Raven smirked but did as he asked, glancing in the mirror to see how he had fared. The foundation looked very patchy and streaky, considering he had used a brush and it was breaking up on some parts of her face which could be down to the priming which Gar skipped over without properly rubbing it in.
Her blush was a little much since it contrasted strangely with her pale complexion. The highlighter was a lot more than she would normally use and she definitely had a 'shine' to her. The bronzer wasn't too bad since Gar had done well to blend it into her skin as much as possible.
The eyeshadow was intense and bold in colour but aside from some fallout around the edges and not really being buffed into her brow bones, the green was… a somewhat statement and it didn't look too awful. The eyeliner was… something else but again, it could have been worse. It was thick and made her feel very… 'gangster girlfriend'.
Her eyebrows were thick and very dark but it wasn't far off from her brows normally so she wasn't bothered by it too much. Her lashes looked a tad clumpy from where he had caked so much on and her eyes were feeling somewhat heavy.
The lipstick was matte and overdone, her lips actually thinner than what the lipstick made them look to be. Overall it was… an interesting look that Gar had gone for.
"What'd ya think?" Gar asked, puffing up proudly as he set the lipstick back in it's pot amongst the other few.
Raven tilted her head a little, processing her response, "It's… um… different."
"Do you hate it?"
"No!" Raven immediately stated, touching his upper arm, "It's… just different to what I would usually do. I think you actually did… not too badly considering you know next to nothing about makeup."
Gar perked up at that, "Really?"
She nodded, "I mean… I wouldn't go out looking like this but there are girls that would which is… still a compliment."
"I will take it!" He crowed, grinning at her, "Ready to go show the others my amazing work?"
Raven smirked, "You know the boys are going to ridicule you, right?"
Gar matched her expression, "I'd be more worried if they told me it was really good."
He reached forward to unscrew the camera from the tripod and covered the lens with the palm of his hand.
Gar grinned as the camera wobbled ever so slightly, the vibrations caused from his carrying the device down the stairs, with Raven casually following behind him, falling in line with the lens every now and then.
"Okay… Dick and Kory are in the movie room and I think Vic's in there too. He must be done with his car cos' the door to the garage is open and he always keeps it shut if he's out there." Gar whispered to his viewers as he ambled closer to the movie room, with Raven silently following his movements.
"Ready to show em', Rae?" Gar breathed, turning the camera over his shoulder to show her face,
Raven shrugged, "Sure?"
"That's the spirit!"
With that, Gar held the camera with one hand whilst his free hand reached for the door knob and gave it a turn, opening the door up. He ambled inside, capturing Raven trailing just behind him before he twisted the camera around to record their friends' reactions to Raven's makeover.
The camera shook a little as Gar crept down the aisle, moving the camera slightly so that it captured the room too. The projector was casting a beam of light from where it was perched high at the very back of the room; a bracket keeping it tethered to the ceiling.
Three rows of four seater luxury sofas lined the room, all neatly placed in front of one another with just enough space between each one to allow someone to shimmy in and get comfy against the big cushions. They were all a dark charcoal shade, matching along with the dark theme of the movie room as a whole. There was a fairground style popcorn machine in the corner of the room, constantly popping new kernels; a treasure that Vic had outbid some Gizmo kid online for a few months back.
The lights were dim but it was still light enough where the others would be able to see Raven's face as the couple drew closer, Gar readying the camera to ensure he didn't miss anything.
Vic was sitting comfortably on the edge of the sofa closest to the two of them as they made their way into the room, the recliner extended so his legs were up. His head was tilted away, meaning he wouldn't notice as they snuck in.
Dick was the first to look up and over at them from where he was lounging on the left hand side of the sofa closest to the wall, with Kory snuggled up against him, her face resting in the crook of his neck and her legs draped over his lap, her eyes on the screen as 'Moana' played.
He slowly turned his head, intending to greet them but he jolted and his eyes went wide upon seeing them. Alerting Kory, she sat up and glanced at him, opening her mouth to query him.
"Wow… I think some clowns broke in and assaulted Raven." He stated, barely able to resist laughing,
Kory followed suit and glanced at her best friend at the exact moment Vic did, who blinked once and then gave into a rumbling belly laugh, staring at her every time he had to take a breath.
Raven smirked and shook her head, wandering around the edge of the sofa and flopping into the middle of it as the others continued to gape at her new appearance.
"Awww, do you guys not like it?" Gar asked, feigning hurt,
Vic sat up, struggling for breath over his fits of laughter, "Babydoll…" He murmured, touching Raven's shoulder, "What did he do?"
She smiled and gently patted the empty space beside her, making room for Gar. The camera jiggled as he sat down and turned the lens on himself.
"My subscribers thought it would be interesting to see me do Rae's makeup." He explained,
"Was it… was it the blind makeup challenge that's gone around YouTube?" Dick asked, hesitantly, trying his best to control his own mirth.
Gar smirked and turned his head towards him, "No."
"I think it is an interesting look for you, Raven. It is certainly… brighter than what you would usually do for your makeup." Kory beamed, remaining her usual sunny self.
"Thanks, Kory." Raven half laughed, "I don't think he actually did too badly, y'know. It could have been much worse. I thought I'd end up with some kind of scar after it."
"I mean… unless you're counting emotional scars." Vic mumbled, earning a playful middle finger gesture from Raven herself.
"Thank you, Rae. And Kory. Glad there are some people in this house who appreciate my artistic skills!"
Kory smiled and touched her chin with her fingertips in thought, "But… I would not recommend becoming a full time makeup artist... just yet."
"Kory! I'm wounded!" Gar teased, grabbing at his chest where his heart was, to be overdramatic whilst Kory just giggled at him,
"I mean, ya still look beautiful but… y'know in a… psychotic way." Vic commented, grinning sheepishly,
Gar chuckled and waved a hand, "Alright, alright. She doesn't look Oscars ready but I bet you and Dick couldn't do a better job."
"I wouldn't even attempt it." Dick said immediately, trying to avoid the curiosity in Kory's expression.
Vic grinned, "I bet I could."
Gar pulled a face, "Uh huh, sure."
"Ohh… so that is why you asked me for a colourful eyeshadow palette. I must admit, that did concern and confuse me, Gar." Kory stated, peering closer at the eyeliner Gar had done on Raven.
"I would look stunning in that makeup." Gar rebuffed, grinning,
"Let's… not find out, hm?" Raven interjected, raising a brow at him,
Gar burst into chuckles and nodded before he heavily sighed, "Alright guys, I think that's gonna do it for today's video. I did Rae's makeup to the best of my ability-"
"A good effort." Dick chaffed as he briefly leant over to pointedly look at the camera.
Smirking, Gar shoved him out of the shot and continued, "Ahem… and I think it actually looks pretty good. I'm happy with it and I think Rae is too."
He turned to look at her whilst she simply smiled and put her thumb up towards the camera. He rolled his eyes at her and returned his attention to the lens, "Hopefully you guys enjoyed this video. If you did, don't forget to smash the subscribe button to be notified every time I post a new video."
Gar clicked his fingers and pointed them at the camera, "If you wanna see another video like this one… hey, maybe Raven will put makeup on me or something-"
"Ooh… that would be fun." Raven mused, leaning her arm on his shoulder to smirk at the camera,
He chuckled, "Yeah, well, we'll see what they have to say about it. Otherwise guys, thank you so much for watching and I will see you in the next one!" He paused and threw up his two finger salute whilst Raven just delicately waved her fingers, "Peace!"
