Alexa's Training Day Part 2: Ross and Paul vs. The Ketchum Siblings

"Alright ladies and gents, I want a nice clean match between the four of you. The rules are simple. Once all three of a trainer's Pokemon have been knocked out that trainer is out of the battle! Let's get this double battle started!"

"That was awesome, baby!" Paul said to his girlfriend, who had picked up refereeing Pokemon matches once she started dating Paul. "Aggron, stand by for battle!" Paul threw out his behemoth of a Pokemon, which threw its head back and let out a roar.

"Go Boomy!" Ross shouted, calling out his Shiny Arcanine.

"Corphish, may the Aura guide you!" Ash said, throwing out his trusty water type from Hoenn. Of all the Pokemon Ash had owned and evolved over the past 11 years, Corphish was just fine staying the way it was.

"Let's make our first battle a special one Abra!" Alexa said throwing out her newly caught Psychic type. The small Pokemon sat floating in the air with its legs crossed. Other than the slight up and down motion it made from its hovering, the Pokemon made no sudden movements.

"Aggron, use Stone Edge on Abra and Corphish!"

"Boomy, use Flamethrower on Abra!"

"Corphish, use Aqua Jet to get out of there!"

"Abra, use Psychic!"

Aggron made the first move, stomping its large foot on the ground causing many jagged rocks to shoot up from the earth below towards Ash and Alexa's Pokemon. Corphish on the other hand, enveloped its body in water and shot forward, bursting through several rocks and smashing into Paul's Aggron. Abra, on the other hand, levitated high into the air dodging the oncoming rocks. The yellow Arcanine fired a large Flamethrower from its mouth at the Psychic type Pokemon. Abra simply stuck out its arms as its eyes glowed blue, causing the Flamethrower to swirl around its body and back at Aggron, which was super effective.

"Aggron, use Iron Head!"

"Corphish use Crab Hammer!"

"Boomy, use Crunch!"

"Abra, use Teleport!"

Ross's Arcanine shot across the field with its teeth glowing silver as it approached the Psychic type. As it leapt at the small Pokemon in order to bite it, it disappeared right in front of it causing it to crash on the ground. Aggron's metallic head glowed silver as it charged at Corphish. Corphish who was not intimidated by the charging Pokemon, jetted itself forward, with its left claw glowing white. Corphish swung down, hitting Aggron on the head, causing it to stumble backwards. Aggron looked at the opponent with rage in its eyes, forming a bright green Dragon Tail. When it went to swing its tail at Corphish, Abra appeared above its ally and grabbed onto it, teleporting the two back in front of their trainers, which made Aggron miss its attack.

"Thanks for the save, Abra!" Ash said. "Use Crabhammer on Boomy, Corphish!"

"Let's give them another hand Abra!" Alexa called to her Pokemon, which nodded back at its trainer.

Corphish's right claw glowed silver this time as it shot forward at Ross's Shiny Arcanine. Corphish then glowed bright blue with Psychic energy, as it was propelled forward at a faster pace, which made Corphish cry out due to the intense speed it was travelling at. It swung its claw down on the head of the large dog-like Pokemon, which knocked it out. Corphish stood atop Arcanine's fainted body, cheering at Abra who had helped enhance its attack. Abra continued to sit, hovering in the air, giving a thumbs up to the Pokemon.

"Boomy is unable to battle!" Dawn called as Ross returned his Pokemon. "Ross please choose your next Pokemon."

"Alright Dale, give me a hand!" Ross said, throwing out his infamous Shiny Sandslash. The ground type stood low to the ground, as it struck its claws together several times, sharpening them for battle.

"Woah," Ash said, returning his Corphish. "Do I have the Pokemon for this battle! Go Sandslash!" Ash threw out his Pokeball and out came his very own Sanslash, who was arctic blue and white in color. Rather than its normal spines, Ash's Sandslash had many icicles growing from its back. The Ice/Steel type copied its foe, striking its claws together as well.

"I'll take on Aggron for us!" Alexa said, commanding her Abra to shoot forward trapping Aggron in a Psychic bubble. Abra raised its arms in the air, causing Aggron to fly into the sky. The sphere then crashed onto the ground, sending dust into the air. When the dust settled Aggron was unconscious.

"Holy crap! What a Psychic attack! Aggron is unable to battle!" Dawn said. "Paul, please choose your next Pokemon!"

"I underestimated you, Alexa," Paul said to the girl he had grown fond of over the years they had known each other. Like the rest of the group, Paul was happy that Alexa could achieve her dreams of becoming a Pokemon trainer. "This next guy isn't going to be as nice though. Drapion, stand by for battle!"

Paul threw out his large scorpion-like behemoth who towered over all of the Pokemon on the field. The Pokemon infamous for wiping out half of Ash's Sinnoh team during their battle at the Lily of the Valley Conference pushed itself off the field and flew over towards Abra. Abra tried to defend itself by encasing Drapion in another Psychic bubble, however Drapion was able to pass through with ease since it was immune to Psychic type attacks. Drapion launched its right arm forward and grabbed Abra in its claw. The Pokemon then threw the Psychic type onto the ground, knocking it out.

"Abra is unable to battle!" Dawn said.

"Abra no!" Alexa said, recalling her fainted Pokemon.

"Jeez, Alexa!" Ross called. "That Abra packs a serious punch for such a young Pokemon."

"That's for sure. You should have seen me trying to catch it," Alexa said, pulling her next Pokeball off her belt. "Alright Hitmonlee, let the Aura guide you!" Alexa threw out her experienced fighting type who took off across the field at Paul's Pokemon.

Meanwhile, Ross and Ash had their two Sandslashs going back and forth exchanging attacks. The Alolan Sandslash encased its claws in solid ice, which made them resemble icicles. Dale, the Shiny Sandslash, kicked some sand up off the ground and caught Ash's Sandslash in the face, partially blinding it. Suddenly, Alexa's Hitmonlee broke up the battle as it jumped over to Ash's Sandslash and picked it up in its arms. Charging in its direction was Paul's Drapion, who had fired off many Pin Missiles.

"Sandslash, use Blizzard!" Ash called out to his Pokemon.

Hitmonlee extended its arms, holding out Sandslash as it blew a large cloud of snow from its mouth. The two attacks collided in mid air. From below, however, the ground suddenly caved it, causing Hitmonlee and Sandslash to fall into a large sunken crater. Dale, Ross' Sandslash, had dug the ground below the two Pokemon's feet so they would fall into a large hole. At the top of the crater stood Paul's Drapion, who used the high ground as a means to fire off a Toxic Spikes attack into the hole. As the wave of purple missiles were fired at the two Pokemon, Ash's Alolan Sandslash (who had regained its sight) broke out of Hitmonlee's grip and took the Toxic Spike attack head on, coming out the other end perfectly fine due to its steel typing. As a result, Hitmonlee, along with the remainder of Alexa and Ash's team would not have to worry about being poisoned.

Sandslash pushed on forward, prepared to hit Drapion with a Metal Claw. Breaking out of the ground in front of Drapion, however, was Ross's own Sandslash, who caught Ash's Pokemon out of mid-air with a Metal Claw of its own. Ash's Sandslash rolled down the side of the crater, coming to a stop at Hitmonlee's feet.

"Sandslash is unable to battle!" Dawn announced. "Ash, please choose your next Pokemon."

"You said your Hitmonlee used to train at the Fighting Dojo?" Ash said, turning to his sister.

"Yeah," Alexa said. "What about it?"

"Let's just say I also have a prized Championship Fighter of my own," Ash said. "Primeape, let's show 'em what you've got!" The pig-nosed Pokemon broke out of its ball and took the field ready to fight. Ever since Ash had left Primeape behind to train in Kanto, it had picked up a serious training regimen that made it an incredible fighter while under the training of Anthony. For the past 11 years, Primeape stuck to its training alongside Ash, honing in on its true potential even more. Ash decided that it was only right for him to use his own Pokemon that was skilled in hand to hand combat alongside his sister's.

"Hitmonlee, use Rolling Kick!"

"Primeape, use Ice Punch!"

"Dale, use Metal Claw!"

"Drapion use Pin Missile!"

Drapion made the first move, firing off many white missiles from its pincers, which flew through the air at the two fighting type Pokemon. The two Pokemon made a ready stance, then performed simultaneous back-handsprings in order to dodge every missile. The two Pokemon dashed across the field side by side and leapt in the air together at Paul's Drapion. Dale, however, jumped onto Drapion's back and pushed off, with both of its claws glowing silver, and collided in midair with Ash's Primeape. The two rolled back into the crater and squared off, while Hitmonlee continued on to fight Drapion.

Primeape's fists glowed bright blue in color, while Sandslash's claws glowed silver as the two Pokemon circled each other. Dale was the first to move, jumping straight at Primeape. Primeape however, sidestepped and delivered an explosive punch to the side of its torso, freezing the pokemon in a block of ice. Sandslash flew through the air and landed back on the ground, but was met by a Rolling Kick from Hitmonlee, who had broken away from Drapion since its size alone was too much to handle.

"You guys should work together to take out Drapion!" Alexa called down to the Pokemon.

The two fighting types looked at each other and nodded. Primeape got a running start and locked hands with Hitmonlee, who spun several times in place. Hitmonlee then let go of Primeape, sending it flying at the opposing Pokemon. With its fist sticking out, Primeape made a Dynamic Punch as it socked the Drapion in the face. The large scorpion-like Pokemon faltered a bit, but then fell onto the ground unconscious.

"Drapion and Dale are unable to battle!" Dawn said. "Please select your final Pokemon for this battle."

Paul and Ross smiled at each other since the two trainers had come up with some tag team moves of their own.

"Go, Lickitung!" Ross said, throwing out a golden Lickitung.

"Go Electivire," Paul said, throwing out his Ace Pokemon from the Sinnoh League.

"Lickitung doesn't have a cool nickname like the rest of your shinies?" Ash said from across the field.

"I just caught this guy the other day! I haven't thought of a fitting name yet!" Ross called back to the trainer. "Lickitung, use Wrap!"

"And Electivire, use Thunderbolt!" Paul exclaimed.

Lickitung shot its large tongue down into the crater, and wrapped it around Alexa's Hitmonlee. Since its arms and legs were tightly bound together, it was unable to break free. Lickitung then retracted its tongue, sending Hitmonlee flying towards Electivire. Electivire caught the Pokemon in its arms and used the two probes on its back to deliver a large shock of electricity to Hitmonlee. Electivire then dropped the fighting type onto the ground, showing that it was unconscious.

"Hitmonlee is unable to battle!" Dawn announced. "Alexa, please choose your final Pokemon."

Alexa pulled out her final Pokeball and grinned at Paul. "Electabuzz, stand by for battle!" The electric type Pokemon flexed its arms and let out a roar. Alexa was excited to use this Pokemon in her first battle against Paul, since he had gifted her the Pokemon as an Elekid on her 14th birthday.

"Which one do you want to take on?" Ash said to his sister.

"You take Lickitung," she said. "We want Electivire."

"Buzz, buzz," Electabuzz said, making a fist with its right hand, hitting it against its left palm.

"Thunder Punch!" Alexa said to her Electabuzz.

"Brick Break!" Paul commanded.

"Use Power Whip, Lickitung!" Ross called.

"Primeape use your Outrage-Punch Combo!"

Electabuzz leapt forward with its fist crackling with electricity as it flew at its final evolution. Paul's Pokemon, however, swung its arm down in a chopping motion, hitting Electabuzz on the head, sending it to the ground. Lickitung shot out its large tongue once more, which glowed bright green as it swung it forward at the opposing fighting type. Primeape gracefully dodged the attack, and pressed on with its attack. Primeape cloaked its body in draconic energy, then transferred this energy into its two fists. Lickitung (who was too appalled by the sight of the move) did not attempt to protect himself. Primeape then swung each of its fists forwards, hitting Lickitung with a flurry of punches, first striking it in the stomach, but finishing with an uppercut to the jaw. Ross's Lickitung was knocked backwards and landed on its back dazed.

"Lickitung no!" Ross shouted. "I'll admit Ash, that was a pretty sweet move."

"Lickitung is unable to battle!" Dawn said. "Ross has been eliminated!"

"Well you don't have to phrase it like that," Ross said, returning his Pokemon and exiting the field. The 16 year old took a seat on the sidelines to watch the rest of the battle.

"Use Thunder, Electivire!"

"Primeape watch out!" Ash called to his Pokemon, who's back had been turned on the large Pokemon.

From Electivire's probes, a large, continuous bolt of electricity ripped across the field at the Champion Fighter. Primeape turned, and dug its heels into the ground ready to take the attack. Electabuzz took the opportunity to stand in between the two, protecting its partner with a large green shield. Electivire continued on with its attack, intensifying it in order to break through the Protect shield. Eventually, Electabuzz couldn't hold on much longer and let down its shield. This caused Electivire to stop its attack, as it moved its arms in a windmill-like motion, charging its body with more electricity. It then shot its two probes deep into the ground, sending several bolts of lightning to tear across the battlefield hitting the two opposing Pokemon, sending them to the ground.

Paul's Electivire trudged across the field, towering over Ash's winded Primeape, who glared at its attacker. Electivire wrapped one of its probes around Primeape's right fist, hoisting it up into the air by the arm. Delivering a powerful electrical Discharge, Primeape's energy was fully drained. The menacing Electivire then turned to Alexa's Electabuzz ready to finish it off with the same technique. Before it could reach it, however, the Electabuzz rose back up to its feet and let out a roar to its opponent, showing that it would not be giving up.

"Primeape is unable to battle!" Dawn said. "Ash, please throw out your final Pokemon."

"Actually," Ash said, returning his Primeape, and leaving the battlefield taking a seat next to Ross. "Corphish and I are going to sit this one out. This is Electabuzz's battle."

"You've got this, Electabuzz!" Alexa cheered out.

'I won't let you down, Alexa,' Ash heard Electabuzz say through Aura.

'Good luck,' Paul's Electivire said, spinning its arms like a windmill, charging up its electricity. 'I'm not going down easily.'

"Use Thunder Punch!" Both trainers said to their respective Pokemon. The two electric types shot across the field at each other as their fists collided, sending rogue bolts of electricity all across the battlefield. Electivire took the opportunity to wrap its probes around Electabuzz in order to deliver more damage to its foe. Electabuzz cried in pain at first, but then clenched its teeth as it began to tough out the attack, absorbing the electricity that it was being hit with.

Alexa's Electabuzz let out an intense cry as it was cloaked in a harsh, white light. After a few seconds, Alexa's Pokemon began to grow taller, and widening out as it did. Paul's Electivire stopped its attack, when Alexa's Pokemon grew to a size larger than it. Staring down at it, was an Electivire that stood at approximately eight feet tall. Her once small Elekid was now an Electivire who stood about two feet taller than they normally do.

"Woah-ho-ho!" Alexa cheered, staring in awe at the now fully evolved Pokemon in front of her. Paul, her opponent, had a shocked expression on his face.

Alexa's Electivire, who had a wide grin on its face, smashed its fists together, and pulled them apart, sending electricity crackling between its knuckles. It then swung its fist's forward, landing a dual Thunder Punch on Paul's Electivire which sent it flying backwards. The newly evolved Electivire flexed its fingers, impressed with its new strength.

Paul's Electivire got up to its feet once more, prepared for a fight. With its right fist glowing white, Paul's Electivire rushed across the field prepared to deliver a Brick Break to its foe. When swinging its arm forward, however, Alexa's Electivire side-stepped and hit Paul's Pokemon with a Thunder Punch to the jaw. Getting rocked by the attack, Electivire fell to the ground. When Alexa's Electivire looked at its opponent, it noticed one of its probes had wrapped around its leg. Looking up, Paul's Electivire released the electricity stored within its body in the form of a Discharge.

"Electivire!" Alexa cried out at the direct attack her Pokemon had taken. When the attack had subsided, Alexa's Electivire still stood tall, unaffected by the move. "Huh? I thought that would have hurt you more!"

Her Electivire lifted up Paul's Pokemon by the jaw and raised it into the air. Feeling invigorated by the electricity which had entered its body, it was ready to continue battling. Forming another Thunder Punch, Alexa's Pokemon hit its opponent in the abdomen with an incredibly fast strike, which once again, sent Electivire flying back towards Paul.

"That speed!" Paul exclaimed. "It must be its Motordrive Ability!"

"Motordrive, huh? Then let's do this Electivire!" Alexa shouted, pointing towards their opponents.

Alexa's Pokemon then shot across the field with such speed, catching Paul's Electivire in the gut with a knee to the stomach, followed by a Thunderbolt, which was fired off from the probes it now possessed on its back. Alexa's Electivire then grabbed Paul's Pokemon by the arms, spinning around in place and releasing, which sent Electivire crashing to the ground in front of its trainer.

Paul's Electivire, who laid on the ground, looked up at the towering foe, preparing itself for the final attack. Alexa's Electivire, however, simply held out its large hand and helped its opponent back up to its feet. The two Pokemon made eye contact, and began exchanging small electrical jolts back and forth with each other, which was a way some electric types communicated with each other.

Paul and Alexa both walked out onto the battlefield and stood next to their Electivires. "That was some fine battling you did out there, kid," Paul said to the girl. "You sure gave me and Electivire a run for our money. And best of all, it looks like that little Elekid I gave you a few months is all grown up now."

"Thank you so much, Paul," Alexa said looking up to her newly evolved Pokemon. The Electivire smiled at its trainer, showing off its new body mass. "If it weren't for you, Electivire and I wouldn't be partners." As a show of respect, Paul extended his hand and shook hands with Ash's sister, which was certainly something that had to be earned.

The two trainers were then met by Ash and Ross. "That really was something," Ash said to his sister. "Every time you battle, you and your Pokemon impress me more and more."

"I didn't even know that Electabuzz could evolve without trading it with an Electarizer," Ross said.

"He must have absorbed so much electricity from Electivire's attack that it triggered it to evolve," Paul said. "And the fact that it has the Motordrive ability will make it even more of a threat."

"That's awesome!" Alexa said. "What do you say, Electivire? Let's go see what kind of damage you can do!"

"Vire!" The Pokemon said, flexing its bulky muscles.

"You may have to wait, sis," Ash said. "We've got a schedule to keep up with."

"Oh well. We'll find out soon enough," Alexa said, returning her Electivire. "See you guys later!" The two men waved goodbye the female trainer as she turned and left with Ash, and her newly evolved Electivire at her sides.
