A very short chapter I know, but I liked how it ended so sorry, not sorry...
Still own nothing ;(
"So, how do you want to start?"
"First, I want to know why the sudden enthusiasm? You weren't so happy when we talked the other day," Michael asked, raising an eyebrow with intrigue.
"I'm only going to say that I have new motivation." Blaine was almost daring his father to ask for more information.
"Ok," His father began, ending that conversation subject there and then, "let's begin with the basic information, what do you know already? you must be well informed enough, right?"
"I know that our family carries a 'gift', it's inherited by the males and it can control people with a simple touch until, of course, you take the next step."
"Until you strengthen it," Michael added, looking proud of himself and his son.
"Right, then all you need are your words, and people go weak and obedient," Blaine explained with subtly patronising undertones, making his father aware of how smart and strong he already was.
"Which is why you need to strengthen it, you can achieve great things without having the weakness of clothing," it was clear Michael was referring to the bar, "I can see it, the day when you'll go to Harvard, or yale, or brown and become this countries best lawyer. Nobody will be able to resist you."
"Isn't that cheating though, using it to get people to talk or lie for personal benefit?" His father's job never did sit quite right with Blaine, sure he appreciated the income it brought for him and his family but he was ashamed in the way his father got it, forcing people to confess or lie against there will.
"Why does it matter, you win the case and get paid tens of thousands, it glorious. Don't worry. Once you feel how great it is to have that power, there won't be any weight on your conscience." Blaine's father explained with a smile, showing once again how evil he was, the idea that he could send an innocent person to prison after one trial and not care sent a chill down Blaine's spine.
"I'll have to take your word for it. You being the experienced one and all." Blaine was careful enough to not show any of his true emotions in his voice or body, he was only providing the appearance of assertiveness and confidence.
"And its thanks to my experience that you are sitting there and not chained to some metal picnic bench having this talk over a phone. You never said thank you for that by the way."
"You want a thank you for doing your job?"
"my job as a lawyer or a father? Either way, I could have easily shortened your sentence as a punishment from me."
"For what?"
"The list goes on my boy. There's the fire, obviously, the drugs, the whole gay fiasco and just being a bit of a nuisance sometimes, peace and quiet is good for the mind and tour mother and I need that." Michael spoke while fixing himself a small glass of whiskey, offering one to Blaine who refused. Although Blaine didn't know, the thought of letting him go to prison actually had crossed Michael's mind, but he would never tell Blaine that; it can be good to be left in the dark. The idea came to him one night while preparing for the trial, and Blaine had said no to him for the first time, it scared him enough to want to be rid of Blaine, even temporarily, it would restore some dominance and hierarchy in the house. Having someone as powerful and dangerous as him under the same roof was a scary thought. Especially since being gay might change his gift in some way, the unknowing just added to Michael's fear. He couldn't be sure if it would have the same effect post strengthening as it would on hetero relations, and if it didn't, then he would be screwed, he doesn't what kind of trouble his son would get up to but he knew he wouldn't be safe.
Blaine didn't show any reaction to his father saying how he could have sent him to prison for being gay, he didn't think his family was like that, even if they weren't the most supportive they still loved him. Instead, he brushed it off with a laugh and asked, "So, how can I strengthen it?"
"I thought you knew that already, I distinctively remember telling you on your sixteen birthday, last year. You got insanely uncomfortable and spilt my favourite gin."
"I remember, and I bought you a new one. But I was wondering if there was another way?" Blaine had never hoped so much in his life that there was a second way, and if there was now would be the time to find out.
"Not that I know of." Michael said bluntly, putting down his glass to properly think, "although, I don't see why there's a need to be another way, everybody enjoys the traditional methods. Why are you asking this?" He showed genuine confusion and questioning in his features while answering Blaine's question.
"It's just that, with me being gay, I'm afraid the rules will work differently and I won't be able to be as strong." Blaine was lying through his teeth, if anything he hoped his sexuality would change the rules. Maybe he couldn't be any stronger? Maybe it would have the opposite effect since it's with the opposite gender? Maybe it had to be a heterosexual pairing to work?
"You know what, I'm going to be honest here, I've feared that too. However, I'm sure it'll be fine, and if all else fails, you could always go back to being straight?" Michael said, completely serious, like he generally thought Blaine could change his attraction. Not hat he'd want to when he had Kurt waiting for him.
Blaine knew he was gay, there was no denying it, the most he would do with a female is appreciate her, which to fair is more then some straight men do, but still, it was time his father understood there no part of Blaine that was straight. He was gay, and he has enough experience to prove it if that's what it would take for his father to wrap his head around the idea. It took all Blaine had not to punch his father at that moment, although he wasn't able to hide the fists clenching by his side or the darkness that took over his eyes. Signs that Michael also didn't miss.
"Calm down son, I'm sure it'll all be fine, no matter what gender it's still and dick in a hole, nothing to worked up over."
Blaine couldn't tell if he was more relieved or angered that his father thought his reaction was from the possible change of rules and not from his close-mindedness and homophobia. For the sake of his sanity and safety, he chose relief.
"Can you just tell me again, with the circumstances I'm in, I want to be as sure as possible with how to strengthen my power?"
"I admire your caution." Michael left his seat, its smooth wheels gliding across the varnished floor. The footsteps echoed through the room as he moved to the small bar that sat behind his son who was waiting tentatively for the information, believing that somehow it had changed in the time he had know, or that he had misheard it the first time around. But as soon as the explanation started, reviving the memory of the first time hearing it, Blaine knew it would be the same.
"So I will tell you again," Michael started, "We carry a certain power in our DNA, we have for as long as our family can remember. To strengthen the power, we need to pass it on, to spread it to a partner, somebody to be a vessel or harness. With them, our power can grow but without them, we can become weaker, that's the price, but you'll be strong and any reconnection with them will bring it all back. Once you pass on your DNA, its almost like they become yours, but it's not like a slavery thing if you don't make it one, it's more of a life partner thing, so pick someone pretty, that's the tip my father gave me."
Blaine looked up at his father, dreading the question," and by passing on our DNA you mean..?"
"Sex. Yes, but for you, it may be different as the DNA doesn't go into the usual place, by as I said it still goes into another person and so..."
"Ok," Blaine said quickly, "I don't think I need to be hearing this much information,"
"I agree. There is one more thing though, be sure to know who you want, because you can have handjobs and blowjobs from whoever, there's no true exchange there," Blaine physically cringed, "but once you have sex with them, you have that connection and there's no turning back, no way to undo it, you'll be stuck with them, so keep it in your pants for as long as your hormones allow, you don't wants tons of permanent notches on your bedpost."
"Blowjobs and handjobs still on the table, I'm good to go." Blaine laughed through he uncomfiness, instantly wanting to retract what he just said.
"Good, now go, I have work to catch up and I don't think there's anything else for you to know." Michale stood back up and went back to his original seat, taking back our the files and instantly getting back to work.
"Alright, bye father," Blaine said, standing up and walking out. Blaine realised he needed more information and his father wasn't the one who was going to give it to him, whether he knew the information or not, so he added researching his gift to his to-do list, right after getting his revenge on Finn and Rachel; a task he is sure to enjoy.
