"Where are we going?" Reborn deadpans, cradled in Fon's arms.
"To your temple," Fon explains easily.
Reborn jerks upright, almost making Fon drop him. "What? I'm not being kidnapped?"
Fon seems just as startled. "Were you not stolen away by the others?"
"I mean," Reborn begins hesitantly. "I was, at first, but it's fine now."
The twins both stop at the same time. "Did you want to go back to them?" Kyouya asks.
Reborn facepalms. "What is happening right now? Why did you come get me?"
"Luce asked us to rescue you," Fon admits. "She says you fought with all of the others and you got injured, your memories were scattered."
Kyouya frowns. "If they'd called us, we would have had some fun with you too."
Fon tsks at his other half. "Don't make it sound like we're here to rescue Reborn out of spite for not being invited."
"No, we're doing it because we got a fight out of it," Kyouya says. "After we deliver Reborn, we're going back for a second round."
Fon blinks. "We're going back to say hello."
"Yes, a second round," Kyouya agrees. "We want to hit the pineapple again."
"Oh do we? Is that a team sport?"
Kyouya rolls his eyes. "This half of us will hit the pineapple. The other half will greet our herbivores. There, are all of our fragments happy now?"
Reborn holds out his hands to stop the Storm from really getting into it because he feels like it would only get worse from here. "Luce wanted to rescue me? You spoke directly to her?"
Kyouya nods. "Are you still injured? You didn't put up much of a fight."
"Oh, fuck you," Reborn snaps and slams an elbow into Fon's face, twisting away and dropping to the ground.
The fractured Storm follows him down, creating a circle in case he tries to run.
Reborn just sits on the dirt, slumped forward with elbows propped up on knees and his head in his hands.
Luce is a human, how would she know that Reborn's memories are missing? Maybe she heard it from another human, since none of the gods were exactly subtle when discussing things in public.
But Luce knows very well that only Colonnello fought with Reborn initially. Maybe she meant that the gods were all a part of the kidnapping ring and it just came across wrong because of communication issues?
But someone kept Reborn ignorant about the other gods. Maybe that's Reborn's fault, he never tried to leave his country or even his temple. He doesn't know many humans so he could just be missing out on regular gossip.
"Fon." Reborn looks up. "When was the last time we met?"
Fon tilts his head to the side and thinks but Kyouya is the one that answers, "During the fight."
"What fight?" Reborn presses. "Between who?"
"Between the gods and Kawahira," Fon explains. "We were already down but you kept going, led him away from us and the other gods. After it all, Luce said you were injured too badly."
"We visited at first," Kyouya says. "But you slept for a very long time and the years tend to get away from us."
Fon holds a sleeve over his mouth. "We should have met with you again, we apologise."
"How long ago was this?" Reborn murmurs.
"Centuries," both halves answer.
Reborn looks down at the ground. "Luce is a God."
"Barely," Kyouya scoffs. "Too weak now, not that she was much stronger before."
Fon shares a look with the other Storm fragment. "We would struggle to pick her out of a crowd with how she supresses her power."
Kyouya hums. "In fact, we were surprised to see her still in your temple, she tends to hide away as a human."
Reborn stares up at the sky. He really needs to get his memories back, but none of the other gods seem to know how he can be fixed judging by the looks they've been giving him this whole time.
Reborn blinks. "How many of us are there?"
"Eight gods, if you don't count us as two," Fon replies.
Fon, Luce, Reborn, Verde, Colonnello, Mammon, Skull.
Seven.
"Who's the eighth?" Reborn murmurs.
"Bermuda. The God of Night."
"I suppose we were friends at one point too?" Reborn drawls, reclined back into the armchair.
Bermuda watches him from across a low coffee table.
"Is that a no?" Reborn muses.
Bermuda still doesn't react.
Reborn lurches forward, eyes narrowing down to black slits and the air outside becomes scorching, the half-rotting and plague-ridden citizens hiding away in their buildings to escape. "At least try to co-operate with me here. I don't remember much but I can always let my sunlight do the talking."
Bermuda tilts his head. "What would you do with the information? Can you even do anything, hidden away in your ivory tower?"
Reborn grits his teeth. "I've been told I killed Kawahira already, so the only one left is Luce. How is this still confusing for you?"
Bermuda smiles, satisfied. "Do you know, Reborn, that dreams are often just memories twisted together?"
Reborn's trigger finger twitches and he feels something solid in his grip before the sensation vanishes. "Oh?"
"When was the last time you had a good night's sleep?"
