XIII. At Long Last
Kankuro and Temari had witnessed Gaara and Harley kissing the other night from a distance. The former was in Gaara's office, wanting details of this new relationship. His two siblings had waited so long for this to happen, so all they could think when they found out was "finally!"
Gaara, being the way he was, was shy about it and not wanting to go into a whole lot of detail. But all the same, his face turned pink every time he talked about her. He had never looked so happy.
"Awww, my little brother's in love!" Kankuro teased, scruffing the top of Gaara's head.
"Knock that off," he said, annoyed.
"You do love her, right?"
"Yes. Very much."
"So what made you finally be honest with yourself?"
"I'm… not sure how to explain it. This feeling I get in my chest whenever I see her… I…"
"Oh, you've got it bad."
"Is that a bad thing?"
"Not at all, brother. In all seriousness, I'm really happy for you. I don't think you could've found anyone better."
Gaara agreed. Since becoming Kazekage, there were always countless girls suddenly claiming that they loved him and "wanted to marry him." But he knew it was all shallow and fake. Were it not for his title, they'd never give him the time of day. But Harley… she loved him from the very beginning. She'd want to be with him whether he was Kazekage or not.
