Scars
Dany
She was a little tired, but she wasn't quite ready to go to sleep just yet. All she wanted to do was cuddle up and relax after earlier, just carve some time alone for a little while. Daenerys yawned pulling the blanket up to her chin as she stared at fairy lights hung across the branches above their little nest. To say they got it put together so quickly she had to admit it felt cosy, there was just something missing, well someone... God knows why he felt the need to run off on another errand across the island, he was just annoying like that.
The day had been enjoyable, spending time together and working to know each other again. Sitting down to talk about everything and nothing, as they grappled to keep things light and easy. It made it a slow process, but they had time and that was a good thing to have. He'd yet to open up about his time in the military beyond a few insights when they were playing Truth or Dare's and though she was curious she was happy to wait until he was ready.
When they were younger, they were like family once. Closer even. The whole two sides of the same coin – not to say they were vastly different but that they completed each other in a way, but they were so young, stubborn and thinking about it now… Stupid. Just looking back there was so much that could have been different, that they could have done differently. There was part of her that wished she could go back and scream at herself to keep hold of what they had, to fight for it, but she couldn't. None of it could be changed but they still had the future, and whatever they made of it.
The night had been strange, topsy turvy in a way as they went through the motions yet even with the fireworks as soon as they were on their own Jon still managed to make her laugh – building the queens lair, the idiot. Yet it all still confused her, when she thought about everything that happened over the years – a part of herself mourned what they missed out on. This closeness that seemed as easy as breathing, something that she couldn't say she had with anyone else. Yes, she was happy with Drogo but he never made her so… Dany blew out a deep breath, stopping the thoughts as she heard footsteps approaching.
Listening intently as he neared, though she kept her eyes closed buried under the many layers as she heard him shuffling around their den. Sighing in her sleep as he settled across the top of her caging her hands against her body under the covers though she didn't move, or react. Even as she felt his warm breaths panning over her neck, though she couldn't stop the shiver rippling down her spine as she felt the cold tip of his nose against her skin as she chuckled quietly. Dany pressed her lips together as she whined at him, pausing as she felt something soft against her cheek. The touch soft, almost like velvet and though felt she didn't open her eyes as the velvet touch trailed ever so gently along her skin, before it moved to her lips. The smell of spices and floral flooding her senses.
She leaned forwards in an attempt to get closer though Jon's weight on the sleeping bags stopped her short, peeking her eyes open softly as she stared at the pale-yellow rose held in front of her. Her heart fluttering as she met his gaze – she would have reached for him had her hands been free though instead he leaned forward slowly and pressed a kiss to her nose. Dany frowned playfully as she attempted to reach him with her lips when he pulled away, but he didn't let her, "Kiss me."
"I just did,"
His smirk had her narrowing her eyes and pouting at him, "Well, kiss me again," the smile growing on her lips as he leaned in slowly, her eye's closing on their own accord – only to feel his lips against her nose again. Damn him! "Jon,"
Jon chuckled as he was watching her, "Gods, you're so bloody demanding," he sighed mockingly and eased off her so she could free her arms and grab him, cupping his jaw with both hands and kissing him properly. Smiling in satisfaction at the dumbfounded look on his face as she pulled away and reached for the beautiful rose.
Rolling the stem between her fingers as she looked at him over the petals, "It's beautiful,"
"Like you," he replied instantly and she couldn't help scrunch her face up,
"That was awful," she watched him as he tilted his head from side to side thoughtfully before he smiled and pulled her onto his lap, her arms wrapping around his neck as she pressed herself against his chest,
"Like you as well come to think of it," he whispered, grinning like he'd won the bloody lottery. Dany frowned playfully tilting her head away when he tried to kiss her and climbed up to put the rose in a cup with some water for the night while Jon grabbed the bottle from last night with two cups. It was strange to think that this was the first time today that they'd managed to get alone – she loved her friends but this was nice. She watched him fill the cups as she took a seat, wondering whether to make a toast, for just them…
"We should have a toast, to…," she trailed off as she thought of what to toast to. To meeting again? To growing up? To the uncertain future?
"To finally getting some time alone?" he suggested. Dany snorted as he clinked their cups and took a sip of his drink, he had a point. "Hmm, how about to finding each other?" he suggested shyly, as his gaze shot to the floor. She felt her throat tighten as she looked at him, taking a sip of her drink as thought on it further,
Licking her lips as she fought to keep a straight face, "Is that the best you do?" she asked reframing from smiling as he glanced up clearly taken back by the comment,
"Okay, smart arse. Let's drink because it's the only way I can deal with you," he stated, as a matter of fact, glancing away quickly to hide the smile that's she knew was growing on his lips.
Dany pouted as she looked over at him, "Oh… You shouldn't be drinking then," she stated pulling the drink from his grasp and downing it quickly before he could react. The warmth coursing down her throat as she watched him, all she wanted to do was kiss him, strip away everything and be together again, and that wasn't the alcohol. Grinning as she met his gaze and placed the plastic cup down before she moved on to her own though she snorted as Jon grabbed her hand and tilted her cup into his mouth downing her drink with a satisfied sigh as she pouted at him again.
There was something strange happening, different feelings clashing and confusing her all the same, but it was a somewhat nice feeling to have. Smiling as she was pulled against him, pushing him down so she could lay beside him and rest her head on his shoulder while she grabbed his phone.
This was something they used to do all those years ago – he used to fill his phone up with all kinds of music. She knew at first it just a phase but eventually he started doing it just so they could curl up and listen to them together. Jon smiled as she grabbed his earphones, unravelling them before she handed him an earbud and scrolled through his music. The endless musicians, some that she knew, some that she didn't though it was his playlists that she found the most interesting, the standard 'New playlist 1' to 'New playlist 6' but the best one's were at the bottom of the list. 'Oldies, Arya, Beats, and Movies' it was a mess but there were some songs she loved.
Her favourite was by far the playlist titled 'Movie'. She couldn't stop laughing as she opened the playlist seeing 'Men in Black' by Will Smith right at the top of the list followed by 'Ghost Busters', and then 'I will always love you' by Whitney Huston from The Body Guard. Sitting up in concentration as she focused on the list, smiling as she felt his arms wrap around her and pulled her against his chest so she was sitting between his leg, while he rested his chin on her shoulder so he could see what she was looking at. Dany gasped when she saw it, it was a song that she fell in love with when they watched Armageddon together for the first time. "As if," she whispered in awe tilting her head to the side,
Jon smiled, "It's still a great song,"
Pressing a kiss to his cheek she smiled, "This was our song," she whispered. Not officially, it was the one song they both knew all the words for. They watched the film so many bloody times together, for different reasons of course. Jon had a crush on Grace while she had one on A.J though it was a good film to watch either way with all the action and the romance – even if it was a little cheesy. Dany remembers when they first watched it with mother, and her mother sang along to the song while she and Jon danced and made fools of themselves. The memory so bright she wanted to do it again. Dany climbed up, slipping on her shoes and pulling Jon along as she quickly got set, "You have to sing with me!" she laughed, grinning as he pulled a face. She knew he would, as his hands found her waist as the song began. Closing her eyes and waiting for the lyrics to begin,
I could stay awake just to hear you breathin'
Watch you smile while you are sleeping
While you're far away and dreaming
I could spend my life in this sweet surrender
I could stay lost in this moment forever
Where every moment spent with you is a moment I treasure
Don't want to close my eyes
I don't want to fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I'd still miss you, babe
And I don't want to miss a thing
She wasn't sure what it was, the memories, the feelings… Tears rolling down her cheek as everything caught up with her – Just looking up at him and meeting his gaze as they stopped short in the middle of the clearing. Heart beating rapidly in her chest as his hand reached out and cupped her jaw. Dany closed her eyes as she felt his thumb trace her under her eyes, drawing the tears away, swallowing thickly as he pressed a gentle kiss against her lips. Smiling tearily, everything was just so easy back then. Less complicated.
Dany bit her lip as she fisted his jumper and dragged him closer, removing any distance between them as she brought their lips together in a crushing kiss. Wrapping her arm around his neck, as she lifted her legs in an attempt to climb him until he hoisted her up. The kiss messy, as she wrapped her legs around his waist, exploring his skin with her mouth in urgency, protesting when he pulled away abruptly. She looked up frowning as he rolled his eyes and pulled at the band of her pants. Huffing out a laugh she shimmied out of them, fishing in her coat pocket for a condom. Jon was already pulling at the button of his jeans before she helped him free his cock, handing him the condom, knowing damn well she would likely tear it open if she opened it. She watched him intently, licking her lips as he drew the condom on before she climbed on him again, his hands grasping her arse in both hands lifting her up, she could feel his length against her core drawing along him desperate for him to be inside her again.
Gasping as she was pinned roughly against a tree, his fingers digging into her arse cheek as he lifted her with one hand, pulling back slightly so he could position his cock with the other, closing her eyes as she felt the head of his cock trail along her entrance before he thrust forwards suddenly. A moan spilling from her lips, as she felt the delicious stretch of his cock.
It wasn't gentle, it wasn't lovemaking, it was passion, and need. Pinned between muscle and bark, clinging on to him, moaning through rushed kisses as they clung to one another. The heat between them fending off the cold though even that was too much, as they clambered back into bed to finish what they started…
Much later having cleaned and dressed in some clothes in an attempt to fend off the cold – Jon opted for a pair of boxes while she wore her knickers and a T-shirt. It was too cold to be fully naked even if it felt warm and cosy when they cuddled under the covers. Resting her head against his shoulder as she curled against him, his arm wrapped around her as she followed the foreign lines on his chest with her fingers absentmindedly. No thoughts in her head, content in the peace they found themselves in. Dany felt him shift against her though paid no mind until he moved her palm to his lips before he pressed her hand against the scars to the right of his abdomen. Glancing up in surprise, was he going to…
He cleared his throat, closing his eyes and squeezing her hand gently before he smiled faintly, "I guess the best place to start would be here," he paused as he opened his eyes and pressed a finger to the scar, "This one," he chuckled quietly. "This one came from my first attempt at parachuting," there was a smile curling his lips as he glanced her way. "It's not as easy as it looks, but this one was a malfunction." He sighed. "I pulled up late and ended up colliding into a tree in the middle of a bloody forest," he smiled and shook his head. "Took three hours to get back, and I got my arse handed to me when I did," he chuckled. "I'm pretty sure uncle Benjen would have killed me then and there if he hadn't seen the wound," Dany smiled and shook her head at him, leaning in and pressing a gentle kiss to his lips in gratitude before she ducked down and pressed another kiss to the scar in question.
"What about these?" She asked stroking the faded scars over his eyes,
He closed his eyes and shook his head as he smiled, "By the end of the year we were shipped out to join the troops over in Essos. We were there to observe, get some experience for a month and I was with a bunch out of the Lannister ranks. Uncle Arthur managed to get me in with Jamie Lannister, Joffrey's uncle, anyway…," Dany listened intently as he went on to talk about training with Jamie Lannister. The mundane tasks he had to deal with to the more extravagant ones of a guy called Bronn Blackwater disarming an IED in the middle of a market place. "It was like playing operation with one life, which was terrifying especially when he wouldn't shut the hell up," he snorted. "All he did was complain about everything, the sand, the sun, money…," he shook his head as he continued. "The IED was defused and we were just on clean-up when Edd spotted something. There was this man walking down the street towards us with a Falken on his arm. I told him to stay back and he stopped,"
Jon shook his head, "I must have looked away for a second," he blew out a breath, "When I look back the Falken is flying straight for me…," he rolled his eyes, "and that was when I found out that they had Falconers…," he grinned, as he shook his head. "Between Bronn and Jamie, I was lectured for days," he chuckled slightly though the humour drained away as he moved their hands to his chest.
He sighed deeply, "W-we were on a mission near Astapor. There was intel that a high-value target was in the area and I was there with er Edd to either prove or debunk it." He explained quietly. "The village was crawling with a high militia presence and once the target was confirmed to being on location the rest of our team came while I got into a position with a vantage for cover if needed." he sighed as he pulled her closer, and she pressed another kiss to his lips in equal parts comfort and encouragement.
"It was supposed to be convert, but somehow they knew the team was there and they tried to ambush em'. Pining them in the village…," he blew out a breath as he continued. "Days of surviving, of just holding out as the war raged on and yet we held on for support. When they arrived, what was left of the militia retreated and we saw to the wounded…," he paused showing her his palm.
Dany brought his palm to her lips and kissed it as she watched him smile, "Joer was adamant that I was sent back because I couldn't shoot and with him being my superior I had to listen." he shook his head, " God's I don't think I ever complained so much in my life when I was stuck in the Humvee, bored out of my brains but when I got back to base…," he stopped abruptly and closed his eyes, and she wrapped her arms around him tightly.
"It's okay, you don't have share anymore," she murmured, pressing a kiss to his hair. As much as she wanted to know she didn't want him to relive a memory that clearly hurt him,
Jon sighed deeply and found her lips in a shallow yet lingering kiss, "No. I want to tell you," he whispered, clearing his throat. His fingers absentmindedly drawing her hair away from her face as he smiled at her. "While I was on base another group of militants moved to take back the village," he sighed as he continued, "and they succeeded."
Dany watched him closely as he focused on curling a strand of her hair around his fingers, "We watched it all on the satellite feed while no one would authorise anything, sat there twiddling our thumbs while they lined members of my b-," he cleared his throat. "My team up in the middle of the square…,"
"We didn't know at the time but we were betrayed by someone on the team…," he trailed off trying to separate himself but she tightened her arm around him and pressed a kiss to his brow before she cradled his head against her chest. "All for money," he sighed again as he nuzzled against her skin. "For greed… and yet when I joined a group from the Wildings beyond the wall armed services to search for those responsible…,"
Dany tightened her hold on him as she felt him sob, "My team… T-they labelled me a traitor and tried to…," the words caught in his throat and Dany was at a loss trying to comfort him as best as she could. It was clear this was hard for him; she could see it when she first caught sight of the scars and it meant everything that he was willing to share this part of himself with her. Jon detangled himself and sat up looking down at his scars though he kept a hold of her hand under the covers, "I nearly died," he whispered. Dany turned to look at him confused, her mouth falling open when he looked away quickly. Reaching out gently, she lifted his chin and met his gaze, "They tried to kill me…," he cleared his throat again. "and they would have succeeded if not for that squad from beyond the wall," she didn't want nor need to hear anymore, pulling him back against her and wrapping the duvet around them as she felt tears roll down her cheek. Unwilling to let go of him, feeling only content when she felt the beat of his heart against her skin.
He'd been through all of that…
There was worry, fear but above all else a deep burning anger wanting to hurt those that hurt him, that tried to take him away from… Dany closed her eyes and took a shaky breath, "I'm sorry," she whispered, pressing a kiss against his hair though he shook his head and pulled away,
"I'm sorry," he mumbled but she was already shaking her head as she pulled him back against her. She could have lost him forever. It was selfish to think of it that way but gods just the thought of it fucking hurt.
Dany wasn't sure how long they just laid there holding each other, neither willing to be parted though it was her that pulled away first just so she could look into his eyes once again and press a kiss to his lips. "I'm sorry for what happened to you, but I'm glad you told me,"
I'm glad you showed me yourself. Swallowing thickly as she caught that look in his eyes, her heart beating furiously in her chest in response. A part of her wishing she didn't see it. A part of her wishing she didn't feel it. Eye's fluttering as his nose bumped against hers slightly, lips meeting softly her body tingling as his arms wrapped around her. Clinging against him as they fought to roll over in the tight confines of the sleeping bag until he was accommodated between her legs. Refusing to let go, even as she felt the weight of his length burning against her stomach.
The sleeping bags offered little in term of exploring without tearing the damn things open and she couldn't help but giggle in between kisses as Jon grabbed the top of the zip while her feet pushed down his boxers to his knees trying not to break the kiss in the process. A moan tearing from her throat as his fingers dipped under the band of her panties exploring her wetness. Grabbing his wrist and closing her eyes at the sensation of his long fingers slowly entering her, jumping as his thumb began tracing circles against her clit throwing her head back in pleasure. "Jon," she moaned. Wrapping her arm around his neck and pulling him closer, tilting her head forwards in search of his lips. The kiss messy and heated broken only when she felt the tip of his cock against her folds.
Dany bit her lips as she met his gaze, lifting her hips against his cock – Pressing her forehead to his she tightened her hold at the sensation of him slowly filling her. The fullness of him, every inch, the agonisingly slow thrust as he sheathed himself. She welcomed it, him, catching his lips when he eased himself out and thrust back in, a moan spilling from the back of her throat as he slowly gained in rhythm.
It was slower than before, breaking away to looking into his eye as she cantered her hips to take him deeper. The feelings catching up with her again as her eyes burned in his heated gaze, fingers clinging to him tighter as she realised that – that she loved him. Dany felt overwhelmed with the confession, with his words of encouragement, as he squeezed his hand between them and increased the speed of his thrusts. The pleasure bubbling, vision clouding she cupped his face in her hands messily kissing him as his pace became relentless. Jon pulled away pressing his face in the crook of her neck where she could feel his breath against her skin as she looked to the heavens. Body trembling, as the waves of pleasure crested, his face nuzzling against her throat, her nails dug into the flesh of his skin as she felt him go rigid. Walls fluttering around his length as she felt the warmth of his seed dragging her over the edge. Panting for air, collapsing in a mess of limbs as they slowly cooled from the high – everything felt different now, she felt different somehow… Warmer, more content – as they cuddled close under the covers. There was a smile on her lips as she felt the press of a kiss on the hollow of her throat. Opening her eyes to peek at him as he pulled away, only to find him smiling down at her. "Remember when you hated me?" he murmured
Dany glared at him playfully, "I wanted to hate you," she clarified which was significantly easier when he wasn't there. "Problem is, it's difficult to pretend when you're here with me," she whispered, pouting as he grinned and shifted closer to steal another kiss. Closing her eyes and holding him close as their lips parted, "I can't pretend anymore," She whispered. Pressing her lips against his again, his fingers curling into the back of her head as his tongue explored her mouth pausing as they rolled into the wet patch. Giggling like children at their predicament before they tried to clean it and themselves the best, they could in the awful cold though it was worth it just to climb back in snuggling close in search of warmth once again.
Lying in the silence of the night, content to hold each other. Dany hummed as she pressed her cold nose against his skin unsure of how long they'd laid there though she smiled to see him sleeping peacefully when she glanced up at him. Even in sleep, his arm was wrapped around her possessively, her mind going over everything at ease in his arms. It was a lot to process, everything that happened with him, to him, the betrayals against him. It was unfair that he had to face them alone – that he had to face them at all. She couldn't believe how close she was to losing him, it hurt to even think about losing him. Yet the feelings she felt scared her too. it was too soon. She never hated him but to feel the things she did... and so quickly was terrifying.
Dany wiped her eyes against his skin as she shifted up under the covers so she could look down at him, drawing her fingers gently through his hair as he slept peacefully. Her eyes burning as she played with the words on her tongue a moment before she leaned in and pressed a kiss to his brow,
"I… I love you," she whispered.
The words lost to the night.
