We needed some more Hiccstrid! This story came to my mind and I had to write it. Enjoy :)

Hiccup held the flowers tightly in his hand and stared at Astrid's front door, his fist hovering midair. Toothless stood next to him for support. He looked at him and warbled.

"Be patient Toothless, I'll knock when I'm ready." Hiccup told the dragon.

"The dance is starting soon."

"I know!"

"Knock on the door and ask her."

"But what do I say?" Hiccup started pacing in front of the Hofferson home, " 'Hey Astrid, would you like to go to the dance with me? Please?'" Hiccup sighed and squeezed the flowers tightly. The stems began to bend.

"Or how about, 'Milady would you care to...' no I can't say that..."

Toothless watched his rider walk back and forth. Hiccup had been wanting to ask Astrid to this year's Snoggletog dance for awhile. He had tried many, many times before but he always ended up turning into a stuttering mess, or make a silly excuse to leave. With a little help from the Night Fury, Hiccup finally managed to gain the courage to walk to Astrid's front door on the day of the dance.

"There's no turning back now..." Hiccup sighed.

Toothless watched as Hiccup slowly raised his hand up to the door. He froze again.

"What if she says no?" he said quickly, "What if she's busy or..."

Toothless nudged him closer to the door, "Just knock. It'll be fine."

Hiccup nodded slowly, "Ok. I'm going to do it. I'm going to knock on this door and ask her."

He then again raised his hand to knock. He gulped and his fist hit the wood with three very light knocks. No one came to the door.

"Looks like she's not home! Let's go!" Hiccup turned to leave but Toothless blocked him.

"You're going to have to knock louder than that."

Hiccup sighed and turned to the door again. He knocked a little bit louder this time. Still, no one came to the door.

Toothless rolled his eyes and lifted his paw and knocked loudly for him. Hiccup paled and gulped when he heard the light footsteps of Astrid coming toward the door. Hiccup took a deep breath to try and calm himself down.

I can do this...I can do this!

Astrid opened the door. She was already dressed. Hiccup stared at her in awe. She wore a light blue dress that went down to her knees. Nordic patterns weaved across the hem and collar. Her hair was partially braided upward while the rest came down in long, elegant waves. But of course, she wore her usually furry boots and a belt that held a hatchet on the side.

She looked gorgeous. Hiccup's mouth couldn't get out the words he wanted to ask her. Here she was dressed up, while he just came in his everyday red tunic and brown armor.

"Hey." she smiled.

"H-hi." Hiccup stammered, Oh Thor just ask her already!

"What's up?" Astrid asked. She was obviously waiting for him to ask her to the dance. She hadn't left for the Great Hall even though the party started an hour ago. She let her family go without her, just so she could wait for him.

"Y-you look beautiful." Hiccup said finally. Astrid smiled and twirled a bit.

"It's fine I guess. Though I would've went in my everyday clothes." she laughed.

Toothless gave him a nudge of encouragement. Hiccup remembered the flowers and quickly held them out for her.

"They're beautiful!" Astrid took them and sniffed them, "They're amazing, thank you."

Hiccup rubbed the back of his neck, "You're welcome."

This was it. The perfect opportunity. Hiccup began to fumble with the bottom of his tunic.

"Uh...would you...um...want to..." Hiccup started. He couldn't get the words out.

"Would I want to what?" Astrid looked at him with cheeful eyes.

The nervousness got a hold of Hiccup. He started to hyperventilate as he stumbled across his words.

I can't do this...I can't do this!

"Hiccup? Are you ok?" Astrid asked in a worried tone.

"S-sorry...I-I got to go!" Hiccup ran away from the from the door leaving Astrid woth a surprised look on her face. Hiccup squeezed his eyes shut as he ran further and further into the forest. He blew it. Astrid was never going to go to events like these with him ever again.

Hiccup sat down on a nearby rock. It was cold but he didn't care. He just sighed and held his head in his hands.

"All I had to do was ask..." Hiccup mumbled to himself, "I'm such an idiot."

Astrid was either heartbroken, or still standing there at the door with Toothless. The Night Fury had the same look on his face when Hiccup ran away. He sighed and shook his head. Then he heard light crunches in the snow. He looked up and saw Toothless with Astrid sliding down his back. Astrid ran over to Hiccup and sat next to him.

"Are you ok? You really freaked out back there." she said softly.

"I'm fine." Hiccup said quietly. He turned his head not wanting to face her after what just happened. Astrid laid a hand on his shoulder and leaned in closer to him. Toothless rested his head onto his legs.

"Hiccup, were you tying to ask me something earlier?" Astrid asked him. Hiccup nodded.

"Was it about the...dance?"

Hiccup nodded once again. His cheeks turned red with embarrassment.

"Why didn't you say so?" Astrid turned his face to look at her.

"I...I thought you'd say n-no..." Hiccup admitted, "I was nervous..."

"Hiccup, I'd love to go to the dance with you." Astrid told him.

"You would?"

"Of course! Why would I say no?"

"I don't know...I guess I was just scared..."

Astrid pecked his cheek, "Hiccup, I'd dance with you any day."

Hiccup smiled softly, "I think it's a little to late to go to the dance now though..."

Astrid stood up, "We could dance right here."

"Here? Right now?" Hiccup blinked.

"Uh, yeah." Astrid held out her hand and smiled, "Come on!"

Hiccup took her hand and she pulled him in. He wrapped one arm around Astrid's waist and held her hand. Astrid rested her hand on his arm and they began to dance. Toothless opened his mouth slightly to lit up the air. The purple light radiated across the snow, making the little clearing look even more romantic.

Astrid looked up into Hiccup's green eyes. Hiccup looked back down at her and smiled. Astrid grinned back happily and pulled Hiccup into a hug. They both swayed as they held their embrace. Toothless watched, a gummy smile across his face.

"Astrid?"

"Yeah?"

"I love you."

"I love you to, Hiccup." Astrid closed her eyes and smiled, "I love you to."
