The sun rises over the horizon, lighting up a still snow covered Equestria, but today is a special day...Hearth's Warming, which is basically Equestria's version of Christmas.
Twilight is asleep in her room before she wakes up as the sunlight streams in through the windows. She yawns before she stretches out. She hops off her bed and walks out of her room.
But, before she goes downstairs, she heads to the bathroom and brushes her frazzled hair. Of course, Spike and Starlight are still asleep. As she heads downstairs, she looks to see Spiney gone.
Alan is still asleep in the library. She looks out of a window to see him out on the frozen lake next to the School of Friendship. He scratches at it before stomping on it, cracking it.
He stomps on it again, causing the ice to give way. He then sticks his snout in it, but not for long as the water is freezing cold. Spiney growled at the hole in the ice. Twilight had gotten on some warmer clothes before she walked outside.
"What you doing, bud?" Twilight asked as she approached him. Spiney pointed at the hole before he had an idea and he draws a fish in the snow. Twilight then understood.
"Your trying to fish?" Twilight said and Spiney nodded.
"You know, you can just have Dinosaur Chow" Twilight said before he roared, shaking his head, making a weird face and sticking his tongue out.
"Getting tired of it" Twilight said, understanding, "Well, you're not going to have any luck as all the fish are hibernating and besides, there are no fish in this lake right now." Twilight then began to walk away.
Spiney grew disappointed. However, he was determined. Spiney walks over to another spot on the ice and swipes the snow away. Then, surprisingly, he sees a shape just below. He then stomps on the ice, shattering it.
He hovers his jaws over the water before he strikes. He lifts his head up with a large fish in his jaws. Twilight noticed.
"Well, I'll be" Twilight said. Spiney threw the fish to the snow as it was now awake and wiggling. Spiney walked over and slashed easily through its hide with his claws. He then dived in and began eating it.
To make things better, it was nice and cold. Twilight just smiled, rolled her eyes, and walked back in. She entered and sees that Alan is awake. He let's out a roar and begins carrying on.
"Alan, calm down" Twilight said. Then, Spike is seen walking down the steps, and yawns.
"Great, now you woke up Spike" Twilight said.
"No, no, it's okay, Twilight" Spike said before walking over to Alan and patting him on the snout, "He does it every morning."
Twilight chuckled a bit.
Upstairs, in Starlight's room, Daisy had just woken up. She roars at Starlight before she walks up and licks Starlight in the face.
"Daisy" Starlight mumbled, "Five more minutes." However, Daisy couldn't wait. She grabbed Starlight's blanket and yanks it off. Starlight shivers before she groans and begins to stir. Her horn lights up as her door opens.
Daisy immediately rushes out the door before, a few seconds later, she peaks back in.
"Go on, sweetie. I'll be down shortly" Starlight said before she yawned. Daisy then exited and headed downstairs. She made a happy roar as she greeted Twilight and Spike.
"Morning, Daisy" Twilight before she nuzzles against Twilight, "You two go out and play with Spiney." Alan and Daisy agreed and went outside. They see Spiney still eating on his fish. Spiney looks to see the two.
"Morning, Spiney" Daisy said in a cheery voice.
"Morning, Daisy" Spiney replied with a smile.
"Morning, Spiney" Alan said.
"Morning, Alan" Spiney replied, "Hey, you know that Hearth's Warming today. Twilight was thinking about hosting a party with her friends and us."
"Is everyone going to be there?" Alan asked.
"I think, but she was talking about this gift giving thing called, "Hearth's Warming Helper" or something like that"
"What is it" Daisy asked.
"It's like they put our names in a hat and we draw. Whomever we draw, we need to get them a gift" Spiney said.
"Oh, I don't know" Daisy said, "How will I know what gift to get them?"
"Spiney, Alan, Daisy. Let's go" Twilight shouted as her, Starlight, and Spike were all dressed in winter wear.
"We'll figure it out" Alan said to Daisy before they followed them to Ponyville.
Ponyville was in a festive mood, along with almost every other city in Equestria. Ribbons, mistletoe, garlands, streams of lights, wreaths, ornaments, red, and green is everywhere. Everypony is dressed in festive wear.
Twilight, Starlight, and Spike, followed by Spiney, Alan, and Daisy enter town as everypony else is a hustle and bustle. They stopped near the fountain in the middle of town.
"Where is everypony else?" Twilight asked.
"Late" Spike said.
Suddenly, Pinkie and Delphi appeared.
"We're here!" Pinkie sang. She was followed by Rarity and Bruce.
"Sorry, we're late" Rarity said. Then, Allison appeared. She skidded to a stop as Applejack hopped down. The others covered themselves as snow sprayed from Allison's skid.
"Phew, what a ride" Applejack said, brushing herself off.
Then, they see Fluttershy with Velcie and her family running as fast as they could.
"We're coming!" Fluttershy shouted. She then skidded to a stop, catching her breath.
"We came here as fast as we could" Fluttershy said. Twilight looked around, seeing everyone was here accept one.
"Where's Rainbow?" Twilight asked. The others shrugged their shoulders. Then, they see Rainbow, flying oddly slow.
"There she is" Pinkie said. Rainbow flew in, her head down.
"What's wrong, sugarcube?" Applejack asked, "Are you still grieving about Rampage?"
Rainbow slightly nodded, "I miss her, and I can't stop thinking about her."
"Don't worry, darling, she'll be back in the spring, which will be here before you know it" Rarity said.
"Oh, this is so exciting. It's our first Hearth's Warming with dinosaurs!" Pinkie said, excitingly.
"Let's just hope it's not a disaster" Applejack said.
"I know, but I think they're pretty nervous for gift giving" Starlight said.
"Don't worry, every-dinosaur, you'll do fine" Fluttershy assured them.
"What if we don't know what to get?" Bruce said.
"Try your best" Spiney said.
"Don't worry, we'll help" Fluttershy said.
"Well, let's get to gift giving" Applejack said. She pulled off her hat and Twilight tore 15 pieces of paper, each with their names on them before she folds them up and puts them in Applejack's hat.
Applejack then shuffles them up.
"Alright, we ready. No peaking" Applejack said. Each one shut there eyes before they reached in and pulled them out.
"Oh! So excited. I can't wait" Pinkie said before she hopped away.
"Same as last time. Twilight's castle at night" Rainbow said.
"Yep" Applejack said. With that said, everyone went their separate ways to find a gift.
Spiney looked at his piece of paper. On it was Delphi.
"Oh, well, what do I get her?" Spiney asked himself. But then, he just remembered. He immediately went looking for Pinkie.
Pinkie happily hopped along before she looked at her paper to see Alan. Her eyes widened, but she knew to look for Spike. But, just as she was about to hop along, she was stopped by a roar.
She turned to see Spiney stomping towards her. He stopped just before her.
"Hi Spiney, what's up?" she asked before he showed her his paper.
"Oh, you're having trouble finding what Delphi likes?" Pinkie questioned and he nodded. She looked around before she gestured to come closer. He bends down before she whispers in his ear. His eyes widen as he nods.
"Don't worry, I'll help you" Pinkie said before she hopped along. Spiney then headed for Sugarcube Corner.
Spike was walking along before looking at his card.
"I can't get Twilight just a book. She has every book in existence. It needs to be something special" he said to himself. Suddenly, Pinkie stopped just before Spike.
"Oh, hi Pinkie" Spike said.
"Can you help me?" Pinkie asked.
"Of course" Spike replied.
"Do you know what Alan would like?" she asked, showing him her card.
"Oh, that's tough" Spike said. Then, he got it before he whispered it in her ear. She then beamed with excitement.
"You're a genius" Pinkie said before she happily raced off towards Sugarcube Corner. Spike then sadly walked off, thinking about what to get Twilight.
Meanwhile, Bruce looked at the paper he put on his horn. He thought about what to get his chosen pony. Knowing Pinkie, she likes weird things. So, it needs to be something wacky.
Then, he just got it. He immediately began to head up North...towards Yakyakistan.
Meanwhile, Rarity was knitting something. She knew exactly what to get her pony.
She held up the basil product, which was a small suit.
"This little suit will be perfect for Angel" Rarity said before she began stitching again.
Velcie looked at her paper.
"What to get Rainbow?" she questioned herself, "I know she likes things awesome." Velcie thought of things awesome. Then, she got something.
Fluttershy flew along. She looked at her card and sighed.
"What should I get Bruce?" she asked herself.
"Maybe I could help with that" a voice said before Discord appeared through a portal.
"Discord!" Fluttershy said with enthusiasm before she hugged him.
"What are you doing here?" she asked.
"Oh, seeing you needed help in finding a gift for somepony, I thought I'd drop by and help" Discord said.
"Well, I appreciate that, but do you even know what Bruce wants?" Fluttershy asked.
"Um, which ones Bruce again?" Discord questioned.
"He's the Carnotaurus. You know, the one with Rarity, that has horns on his head" Fluttershy said.
"Oh, right!" Discord said, "Well, it should be pretty easy...he wants a big ole slab of meat." Discord snapped his fingers as a big glob of meat appeared. It flopped down as flies flew around and the stench was terrible. Fluttershy tried to hold back from throwing up.
"Oh, my bad" he said before he snapped his fingers and the dirtiness and stench went away as it looked all polished and clean.
"Thanks, Discord, but I'll pass" Fluttershy said.
"Fine, I tried" Discord said before he snapped his fingers and the big slab of meat disappeared.
"Don't think I'm not appreciating your help, but I'll just go ask Rarity" Fluttershy said. She was just about to leave when she looked back to see Discord all sad. She just smiled.
"And you can come with me" Fluttershy said. Discord perked up before he flies after her.
Meanwhile, Allison was at Sweet Apple Acres. She was trying to figure out what to do for her chosen one. She looked at her paper and frowned.
"What should I get Applejack" she asked herself. She looked around at anything that might need fixing. Sadly, there was nothing. She sighed before she walked around, trying to look for something.
But then, she sees Winona playing around in the snow. Winona then stops rolling around and wags her tail as she sees Allison before she walks up to her, barking at her as she was excited to see her.
Allison smiled at Winona and scratched her on the head with her claw. But then, an idea comes to her on what to get Applejack.
Applejack was with Talon. She was trying to ask what her chosen one likes, but she was getting nowhere.
"So, do you know what Vivienne likes?" Applejack asked and Talon nodded.
"Well, what?" Applejack questioned. Talon looked around, but saw nothing. Then, he had an idea. He then draws a flower in the snow, followed by a different colors and other things colorful.
"So, she likes things vivid?" Applejack questioned. Talon nodded and Applejack thought about it before she had an idea. She thanked Talon before she hurried to Sweet Apple Acres. Talon smiled after her before he continued on his search for something for his chosen one.
Rainbow was with Vivienne. Sadly, Vivienne didn't get a paper as they all ran out.
"Okay, so, do you have any idea what Vellon likes?" Rainbow asked.
Vivienne thought about it. But then, she got an idea. She gestured for Rainbow to stay there before she runs off. Rainbow, confused, just waited.
Delphi was on the hunt. Delphi didn't know what to get her chosen one, but she knows that he might like something to eat. So, she continues on, looking for something to eat.
Alan and Daisy were sticking together. Alan looked at his paper.
"Oh, what to get Allison" he wondered.
"How about some meat?" Daisy wondered.
"That's too obvious" Alan replied.
"Do you have any ideas to get, Spike?" she asked. Alan thought about it. Then, he thought of the perfect idea.
"I know exactly what to get both ours" Alan said and he gestured for Daisy to follow.
Starlight was shopping in a jewelry store. He looked through the jewelry store and her eye on a specific necklace to get for her pony.
Suddenly, Trixie appeared in the doorway.
"Starlight!" Trixie said with joy.
"Trixie!" Starlight said with joy. The both ran to each other and hugged each other before they broke away.
"What are you doing?" she asked.
"Oh, just shopping for a gift for somepony" Starlight replied.
"Oh, Starlight..." Trixie said.
"It's not you" Starlight retorted.
"Well, that's insulting" Trixie said, "Why wouldn't you get your best friend a gift!"
"It's not that" Starlight said, "We're doing this Hearth's Warming Helper thing where the pony or dinosaur we pick, we get them a gift."
Trixie now understood.
"Here, to make it up, you can tag along with me for the rest of the day" Starlight said, "Now, can you help me pick out something for Rarity."
Velox was on the search for Starlight. She soon found her in the store with Trixie.
Starlight looked as the doorbell rang and Velox stood in the doorway.
Velox cawed at Starlight.
"Yes?" Starlight asked Velox.
He walks over and shows him his piece of paper.
"You don't know what to get, Daisy?" Starlight wondered and Velox nodded. Starlight thought about what she liked.
Suddenly, she got it.
"I know exactly what you can get her" Starlight said.
Twilight paced back and forth in frustration on what to get her pony for Hearth's Warming.
"Okay, so what does Starlight like?" Twilight wondered.
She thought while putting the finishing touches on her castle.
Suddenly, a voice startled her.
"Hello!" a male voice called.
"Twilight?!" a female voice added.
Twilight beamed with excitement. She flew to the front of her castle to see Shining Armor and Cadence, along with Flurry.
"Guys!" she shouted with excitement. They met with a big group hug. As they broke away, Flurry cooed excitedly and flew around Twilight's head.
"How's my favorite niece doing?" Twilight asked as she grabbed her and nuzzled her, where she cooed in as she enjoyed.
"She's been looking forward to this" Cadence said.
"And so have we" Shining said, grabbing Cadence over the neck and pulling her close. Then, they soon noticed her paper.
"Are you doing that Hearth's Warming helper again this year, Twily?" Shining asked. Twilight's ears drooped and she blushed.
"Yes" Twilight said, remembering last time, "But, don't worry, it won't be the same as last time. But I am still thinking on what to get Starlight this year."
"Well, while we're going sledding, you can think about it" Cadence said. Twilight nodded. As they walked outside, Twilight was met with Albert, Barry, and Simon.
"You brought your dinosaurs?" Twilight asked.
"Yep" Cadence said, "We figured we should introduce them to the others"
"Oh, definitely" Twilight said.
Talon was on the search for something for his chosen one. "What would Velcie like?" he wondered to himself.
Suddenly, Vellon appeared.
"Hey, Vellon" Talon said, "How's my favorite raptor doing?"
"Not good" he replied, "I haven't found anything for Velox yet. What about you?"
"I've been thinking about what to get Velcie, but it hasn't hit me yet" Talon said, "Maybe we should look together, that way we could find something faster."
Vellon agreed and they began to search for a something for Velox and Velcie.
Meanwhile with Fluttershy and Discord, they arrived at Rarity's. Fluttershy knocked on the door.
"Rarity!" she shouted. Rarity winced at her call.
"Coming dear!" she replied. She put away her gift for Fluttershy and went to the door.
"Hello, Fluttershy, may I help you?" Rarity asked.
"Yes, I was wondering if you'd know what Bruce likes" Fluttershy said.
"And make it extra-special" Discord said, "We wouldn't want to disappoint him."
Rarity thought before she got it.
She went inside before bringing a mannequin out.
"He likes to play with the mannequins like dog toys" Rarity said, "I've scolded him to not do so, but he'd probably love to have one."
"Thank you, Rarity" Fluttershy said before her and Discord left.
Rarity sighed in relief before she went back to sewing.
Meanwhile, up North, Bruce struggles through a blizzard. Icicles began to form on his horns, but up ahead, he sees the torches of Yakyakistan.
He hurries quickly, but suddenly a roar stops him in his tracks. He looks into a nearby cave to see red eyes glaring at him. He growls towards the eyes.
The creature reveals itself as the same creature that attacked Pinkie on her way to Yakyakistan.
Bruce let's out a ferocious roar as does the creature. The creature charges and so does Bruce. The creature swings its claws, but Bruce dodges and rams into the creature knocking it off its feet.
The creature falls to the snow, but soon gets back up and roars.
Bruce roars as well. They circle each other, growling. But, suddenly, Bruce realizes he doesn't have time to fight. So, he goes passive before walking around the creature. The creature growls at him as walks past. The creature soon goes passive as he goes back to his cave.
As Bruce reaches Yakyakistan, the blizzard begins to die down, but the wind continues to blow.
He silently opens the doors and enters. As he looks around for what he's looking for, the Yaks smash stuff, celebrating their Hearth's Warming.
As he enters a tent, he sees a wacky looking instrument...a Fugalhorn, although he came here to get a Yovidaphone, he can't tell the difference.
As he grabs it, he hears a yak entering from outside. He quickly begins to exit, but suddenly, a familiar face enters...Yona.
Yona is startled at first, but sees its Bruce.
"You gave Yona a scare" she said, but she notices the Fugalhorn.
"Why you take my Fugalhorn?" she asked. Bruce looked around, but he snorted as he put it down. He knew explaining would be useless, as he couldn't talk. He tried to elaborate by using symbols.
He looked as he sees a present on a nearby table, grabs it, and puts it next to the Fugalhorn. He gestures to the present, then the Fugalhorn. Yona tried to interpret what he was trying to say before she gets it.
"You giving Fugalhorn as gift?" Yona guessed. Bruce nods with a smile. Yona thinks for a bit.
"You keep it" she said, "Yona can get new one." Bruce smiled, thanked her, and left sneakily out of Yakyakistan and began his trek back to Ponyville.
As the day went on, everypony and everydinosaur got their gifts before finally, Hearth's Warming Eve was here.
The first to arrive to Twilight's Castle was Spiney and Pinkie, where Pinkie carries a box, while Spiney carries a large box.
"I hope they like our gifts" Pinkie said. Spiney agreed.
Suddenly, Bruce arrived with Rarity. One was an oddly shaped gift, while another was a box.
"Hi Rarity" Pinkie said.
"Hello, Pinkie" she said.
"You got a gift?" Pinkie asked.
"Yep" she replied.
Next to arrive was Applejack, but Allison was nowhere to be seen.
"Howdy, y'all" Applejack said. She has a box on her back.
"Hi Applejack" Rarity and Pinkie said.
"Have you seen Allison or Winona?" Applejack asked, "I haven't seen them all day."
"I'm sure they're fine" Rarity said.
"I hope so, because I'm starting to get worried" Applejack said.
"They'll be here, you'll see" Pinkie said.
Suddenly, Rainbow and Vivienne appeared, where Rainbow was holding a box.
"Hi everypony" Rainbow said.
"Hello" everypony said.
Alan and Daisy appeared next, with Alan holding a glowing basket.
"Whoa" Rainbow said, "Your gift is shiny" Alan agreed.
Soon, Velcie appeared with a rolled up poster along with Fluttershy and Discord.
"Hi everypony" Fluttershy said. They all replied with "Hi's" and "Hello's".
"Well, this is bringing back memories of last year" Discord said.
"But unlike last year, it won't be a complete disaster" Rainbow said.
Next to appear was Starlight, Trixie, and Velox. Starlight has a fancy box and something wrapped levitating next to her.
Vellon and Talon appear lastly, hauling something. Everyone sees its a dead dinosaur. Fluttershy tries to hold herself together, while everyone else his disgusted.
To be more precise, it is a dead Troodon, a common dinosaur around her at this time of year.
"Okay, so are we all here?" Starlight asked. Everypony and dinosaur nods before she knocks on the door. Twilight soon answers.
"Ah, everyone's here!" Twilight said, "Come on in." They all flooded in.
"Everyone got their gifts?" Twilight asked and they all nodded.
"Alrighty! Now, everydinosaur, we have a three new guests, so be nice" Twilight said.
She led them all into the other room where Cadence, Shining, Flurry, Barry, Simon, and Albert sat by the fire.
They looked as they all entered. Twilight grabbed all their gifts and set them by the tree, but the dead Troodon she was a little disturbing.
After a little bit of discussion and introduction of the dinosaurs, which Spiney enjoyed meeting his cousins, it was time for gift giving.
"Alright, everypony!" Twilight announced, "Time for gift-giving!"
The Velociraptor family began. They got each other something to eat, with the dead Troodon Talon and Vellon took down being for Velcie and Velox, also Vivienne since she didn't get or give anything.
Velox gave Daisy a squeaker, which she enjoyed very much. She was almost like a dog when she got it.
Velcie gave Rainbow a Wonderbolt poster, which luckily it was the newest one.
Rainbow gave Vellon a squirrel, which Vivienne hunted, which he enjoyed as much as Talon did his.
Daisy gave Spike some gems, which he enjoyed very much.
Spike gave Twilight a collage of pictures of him and her, which made her cry and give Spike a big group hug.
Allison presented herself and Winona with bows on their heads for Applejack, which Applejack enjoyed very much.
Bruce presented Pinkie with his Fugalhorn, which she loved, even though she had 35 of them.
Pinkie presented Alan with a step drum. He loved it, as he stomped around the castle beating it.
Spiney presented Delphi some fresh cupcakes, which she enjoyed as she scarfed them down like there's no tomorrow.
Twilight presented Starlight a jumbo-sized kite, which made Starlight very happy and she gave Twilight the biggest hug.
Rarity presented Fluttershy with matching sweaters for her and Angel, which Fluttershy loved.
Fluttershy gave Bruce the mannequin, which he played with like a dog toy.
Applejack gives Vivienne a vivid quilt she sewed together. Vivienne appreciated and loved it.
Alan give Allison a beautiful gem, which ended with him getting a lick-kiss from her.
Starlight gives Rarity a beautiful necklace, which she appreciates and loves.
After gift giving, they all rekindled by the fire.
"What a day" Rainbow said.
"At least it wasn't as bad as last year" Applejack said.
"I declare this year a success" Twilight said.
"No one was occupied by something else, and nothing bad happened" Pinkie said.
"I hope next year will be the same" Rarity said, "Nice and easy"
"Well, let's just hope" Fluttershy said.
"For being our first Hearth's Warming, I think it was fun" Spiney said.
"Yeah, I'd say so" Bruce said.
"Hopefully, are next one will be better, and not worse" Velcie said.
"I also hope Rampage is doing good" Delphi said.
"Same" Allison said, "Hopefully she'll come back unscathed."
As everypony and everydinosaur settled down for the evening, they all continued to celebrate Hearth's Warming Eve, hoping the best for the days, weeks, and years to come.
Meanwhile, down South, Rampage slept with her mate, Carnage. Suddenly, she stirred awake as she looked to the moon.
She missed Rainbow a lot, but she knew she'd return soon, and hopefully, she'll love to meet Carnage, along with her friends.
But, for now, she went back to sleep. She must wait for spring to return, which hopefully will be here before she knows it.
