For the first time since she started jumping, Alyssa didn't jump to an adventure she knew. She first jumped to an adventure with the Ninth Doctor to Japan. Although she didn't stay for long, she still had fun with the Doctor and much more. Some of them were not as peaceful as the one she jumped from. The Doctor had taken her and Martha ice skating. However, she did not know how to Ice skate, so she didn't leave the Doctor's side. She smiled as she remembered how the Doctor had held her while she got her bearings until she was finally was able to ice skate side by side with him. It was the most fun she had for a while.
She landed in the Tardis as the 11th Doctor, Rory, Amy were at the door. "Oi, you guys weren't planning to run off without me?" She said; they whipped around and noticed that she was wearing winter clothes. "Where did you just come from." the Doctor said as he ran over to her and took her hand, pulling her to the door with him. "Ice skating." She said as she smiled at the Doctor.
"Ah, that was very fun. How about Rio next?" The Doctor said, looking at her. She just smiled at him as they walked back over to the door. he let go of her hand and opened the door. "Behold Rio!" Amy and Rory looked out and saw a graveyard.
"Nah," Amy said; Alyssa looked past her and nodded as she looked at the ground as the three stepped outside.
"Not really getting the sunshine carnival vibe," Rory said, making the Doctor turn to him,
"No?" The Doctor said before something else caught his attention. He looked back at Alyssa as he walked forward. "Ooo, feel that, though. What's that?" before jumping up and down. "Do you feel that?" he asked; Alyssa frowned as she felt some type of sensation from the ground, and she walked up to him and jumped too. "Weird," She said,
"ground feels strange." He looked back at Rory and Amy and saw that Rory tried to feel what they were feeling, "Just us then." He said before he looked around the graveyard. His eyes falling on a patch of blue grass. "Wait. That's weird."
"What's weird?" Rory asked,
"Doctor, stop trying to distract us. We're in the wrong place." Amy said before the Doctor turned around and walked past her and passed the Tardis. Alyssa followed, frowning as she searched her brain for the episode she was in as Amy continued to complain. "Doctor, it's freezing, and I've dressed for Rio. We are not stopping here. Doctor. You listening to me? It's a graveyard. You promised me a beach." Alyssa and the Doctor kneeled in front of a big mound of blue grass, and the Doctor pulled some out to inspect it.
"Blue grass. Patches of it all around the graveyard. So, Earth, 2020-ish, ten years in your future, wrong continent for Rio, I'll admit, but it's not a massive overshoot." The Doctor said, and Alyssa shook her head. As she looked around the graveyard some more.
"Why are those people waving at us?" Amy said, and the three looked in the direction she was looking to see two people waving from a great deal away.
"Can't be." The Doctor said before taking out a pair of Binoculars. As Rory started waving back. Amy immediately stopping him. "It is. It's you two." the Doctor said, gesturing to Rory and Amy.
"No, we're here. How can we be up there?"
"Rory, we time travel. Do you really think it's too far-fetched for your future selves to come to see you here?" Alyssa said, and Rory just shrugged his shoulders
"Ten years in your future. Come to relive past glories, I'd imagine. Humans, you're so nostalgic." The Doctor said,
"We're still together in ten years?" Amy said, looking at Rory,
"No need to sound so surprised," Rory said,
"Hey, let's go and talk to them. We can say hi to future us. How cool is that?" Amy said, grabbing Rory's arm to move towards them, only for Alyssa to grab her arm and yanking her back
"Er, no, best not. Really best not. These things get complicated very quickly," the Doctor said as he glanced around, "and oh look. Big mining thing. Oh, I love a big mining thing. See, way better than Rio. Rio doesn't have a big mining thing." Alyssa walked over to him and stared at the mining thing, and smiled at the Doctor. Amy instantly knew what the smile meant.
"We're not going to have a look, are we?"
"Oh, yes, we are," Alyssa said, and the Doctor just agreed with her.
"Let's go and have a look. Come on, you two, let's see what they're doing." The Doctor said, holding his arm out for Alyssa, who looped hers with his. Before the two ran off. Amy and Rory staying behind.
"If he can't get us to Rio, how's he ever going to get us back home?" Rory said,
"Did you not see over there? It all works out fine." Amy said,
"After everything we've seen, we just drop back into our old lives? The nurse and the kissogram?" Rory said,
"I guess. They're getting away." Amy said, starting to go after the two,
"Hang on. What are you doing with that?" Rory said as he brought her hand up with had a ring on her ring finger
"Engagement ring. I thought you liked me wearing it."
"Amy, you could lose it. Cost a lot of money that." Rory said,
"Hmm. Spoilsport." Amy said before she took the ring off and handed it to Rory
"Go on. I'll catch you guys up." Rory said before he turned and walked back inside the Tardis while Amy ran after Alyssa and the Doctor.
"Doctor. Alyssa," Amy called, before gaining on them.
They got to the entrance of the mining thing, and there was a fence surrounding it. "Oh, that's no fun," Alyssa said,
"Restricted access. No unauthorized personnel. Hmm." The Doctor said as he dug his Sonic Screwdriver out and used it on the lock, which sparked and opened. Alyssa walked over and took the lock off the gate. "That is breaking and entering." Amy said,
"What did I break? Sonicking and entering. Totally different." the Doctor said, making Alyssa smile as she pulled the gate open. Gesturing for Amy to go first, which she did. Alyssa looked at the Doctor as Amy called out, "Come on, then."
"You're sure Rory'll catch us up?" The Doctor said, and Alyssa grabbed his hand, "I'm sure he's fine." and they walked into the compound. They walked into the building as the Doctor and Alyssa kept feeling the sensation from the ground as the Doctor brought out the grass sample he took and investigated it. "What about now? Can you feel it now?" the Doctor said.
"Honestly, I've got no idea what you two are on about." Amy said,
"The ground doesn't feel like it should."
"It's ten years in the future. Maybe how this ground feels is how it always feels."
"That's a good thought." Alyssa said,
"but no, it isn't that," The Doctor said As an Alarm sounded. "Hear that, drill in start-up mode." he took out his screwdriver and looked at it before continued, "Afterwaves of a recent seismological shift and blue grass." The Doctor said before placing the grass in his mouth before quickly taking it out again. Alyssa made a disgusted face as she stared at him "you know you could've just sonicked that?" she said, but her comment was ignored,
"Oh, please. Have you always been this disgusting?" Amy asked,
"No, that's recent." The Doctor said as they made their way to a great big room with various different equipment. "What's in here," the Doctor said, as they entered the room and a woman was standing near some controls. "Hello." the Doctor said as the three made their way over to her. "Who are you? What're you doing here? And what're you wearing?" the woman said, looking at Amy,
"I dressed for Rio." She said before the Doctor hit her as he fished out his Psychic paper
"Ministry of Drills, Earth, and Science. New Ministry, quite big, just merged. It's a lot of responsibility on our shoulders. Don't like to talk about it. What are you doing?" He said as the three finally made it to her. The Doctor and Alyssa looked at a screen that had readings they were getting.
"None of your business." The woman said,
"Where are you getting these readings from?" The Doctor asked,
"Under the soil." The woman answered as the Doctor kneeled near a patch of dirt. Alyssa looked at it, curious as she racked her brain for what episode this was.
"What exactly are these readings from under the soil?" Alyssa asked, but her question wasn't answered as a man came in and said, "the drill's up and running again." before walking into the room and noticing the three. "What's going on? Who are these people?"
"Amy, the Doctor, and Alyssa. We're not staying, are we, Doctor?" Amy said as she leaned against some of the equipment in the room,
"Why's there a big patch of earth in the middle of your floor?" The Doctor said as he picked some up and let it fall back into the patch.
"We don't know. It just appeared overnight." The woman said, and Alyssa finally realized what episode she was in. "Oh crap," she whispered as she moved over to Amy, who had joined them, as the Doctor suddenly straightened.
"Good. Right. You all need to get out of here very fast." the Doctor said
"Why?" the woman asked,
"What's your name?" he asked
"Nasreen Chaudhry." Nasreen said,
"Look at the screens, Nasreen. Look at your readings. It's moving." the Doctor said as Alyssa shifted closer to Amy as the man walked over to the Doctor
"Hey, that's specialized equipment. Get away from it." he said, as Alyssa and Amy watched as steam started pouring out of the ground
"What is?" Nasreen said,
"Doctor, this steam, is that a good thing?" Amy said, and the three instantly turned around and looked at the steam. "No, it's not," Alyssa said,
"Shouldn't think so. It's shifting when it shouldn't be shifting." The Doctor said as he stared at the steam that was now covering the patch of dirt.
"What shouldn't?" Nasreen said, and the ground started shaking, and Alyssa started pulling Amy away from the patch of dirt. "The ground, the soil, the earth, moving. But how? Why?" The Doctor said before returning to the computer showing the readings.
"Earthquake?" Amy said, and Alyssa just shook her head,
"What's going on?" The man said,
"Doubt it because it's only happening under this room." The Doctor said as more holes appeared in the floor. Alyssa instantly pulling Amy back until they were pressed against a machine behind them. "It knows we're here. It's attacking. The ground's attacking us." The Doctor said,
"No, no, that's not possible." Nasreen said,
"Under the circumstances, I'd suggest, run!" the Doctor said, and the five instantly starting Alyssa pulling Amy with her. The two stopped as a hole appeared underneath the man's foot.
"Tony!" Nasreen said, and Alyssa looked at him, contemplating her options. She still had her hand on Amy's arm. She looked at the Doctor as her gaze shifted back and forth between him and Tony.
"Stay back, Amy. Alyssa, Stay away from the earth." The Doctor said, and Alyssa finally jumped into action. She jumped over the hole and over to Tony. She started pulling him out of the earth before a hole opened up underneath her and her feet shank into the ground. "It's pulling me down." Alyssa said as she began shrinking. The Doctor called Alyssa's name before he and Nasreen ran over. The Doctor dropped to his knees and tried to grab Alyssa's hand. Amy running to where they were previously standing before running to help Nasreen pull Tony out.
"Doctor, help me. Something's got me." Alyssa said as the Doctor finally grabbed her hand, pulling on her as he grabbed her arm to pull her out. "Doctor, the ground's got my legs." She said, surprising the Doctor at how calm she was.
"I've got you."
"Okay." Alyssa said as she used her other hand to grasp the Doctor's arm. "Don't let go." She said as she looked at the ground then back at him. As he said, "never: Stay calm. Keep hold of my hand. Don't let go. Your drill, shut it down. Go. Now!" and Nasreen and Tony ran out of the room. Amy yelled, "What should I do?"
"Go help them shut down the drill!" The Doctor yelled before turning back to Alyssa as she
"Can you get me out?"
"You need to stay calm. If you struggle, it'll make things worse. Keep hold of my hand.
"I am calm, Doctor," Alyssa said,
"I'm not going to let you go." He said before he started trying to pull her out. His hand slipped, and he fell backward, and Alyssa sank some more. She let out a scream as the Doctor rushed to grab her again. "Doctor, it's pulling me down. Something's pulling me." She said as she felt something pulling on her legs once more.
"Stay calm. Now, hold on till they can just shut down the drill." The Doctor said as panic filled his eyes finally.
"I can't hold on!" Alyssa said as she struggled to hold onto his hand. She stared at him, "Will I suffocate down there." As she sunk more, The Doctor didn't answer her,
"Alyssa, concentrate. Don't you give up." The Doctor said, and Alyssa stared at him before she
"I'm sorry," she said, as she was pulled under the ground. He shouted no repeatedly as he dug through the ground before finally stood up and used his sonic on the ground. Before Nasreen, Tony and Amy came back into the room.
"Doctor, where is Alyssa?" Amy asked. The Doctor closed his eyes and ran his hand over his face before saying, "She's gone. The ground took her."
Alyssa woke up in a glass box. She placed her hand on the lid and yelled, "Hello? I know what you are and who you are. I don't mean any harm; I wish to help you." a green humanoid wearing a mask appeared above the warped glass, which let out a shushing noise. White gas started filling the chamber. "No, please," she said as the gas continued, and she fell asleep. She woke up strapped to a table. She struggled against the bonds "Don't struggle. Close your eyes, and don't struggle." A male voice said. Alyssa turned her head and saw a man strapped to a table as well.
"What? Where am I? Why can't I move my body?" Alyssa said,
"Decontamination, they call it. They did it to me while I was conscious."
"No, Decontamination will kill me. I'm not human." She faced forward and shouted into the darkness; "I know what you are and who you are. I am not human. scan my heart you will hear two heartbeats. I'm not human," she said, and a reptilian man appeared. Alyssa let out a sigh as he did something on equipment. He approached her. "Interesting. I'm sorry…" he was about to continue before a voice filled the room. "Area Seventeen incursion. Species diagnostic requested. Area Seventeen incursion. Species diagnostic requested." Alyssa reached her hand forward and grabbed something as he left the room. She pressed the button, and the clamps released her. She got off the table and walked over to the man, and released him. "You aren't human?" he said
"Yes, but I will not harm you. I want to help you. Come on." she said and the two rushed out of the room. "That creature, do you think it was an alien? Any more of them, do you think? Do you think the Earth's been invaded?"
"No, they are a different species, but they originate from earth. We need to find my friend; that message we heard that took the man away was about him."
"He's down here. How do we find him?" the man asked as Alyssa brought out her sonic pen and started scanning. "This device picks up heats signatures."
"You mean the thing was not warm-blooded?"
"No, he was not. They are cold-blooded, that's odd." Alyssa said as a heat signature was near them. She looked around and pressed a button on the wall, which lit up a room. The man looked through the glass and said, "oh, my God, no."
"What is it?"
"It's my son. It's Elliot. What've they done to him? He's in there." the man moved away from the door, and Alyssa looked through the door. Her face fell as she stared at the child. "We have to get him out. Elliot? Elliot, it's Dad." the man said, and Alyssa ripped around as the computer said, "Access denied. Unauthorized genetic imprint." Alyssa turned around and pointed her pen at the door; she let out a groan and whispered, "Deadlocked." she turned to the man
"I can't let him out, This device usually unlocks doors, but this one is an exception."
"That's my boy in there."
"I know; what's your name?"
"Mo,"
"Okay, Mo, I promise you we will not leave him here, but you see those signs," she said, pointing at the computer. "Those are monitors; they are his vital signs he's alive. We need to find one of them to release him."
"All right. We find weapons, get that creature from the lab and force it to release Elliot, yeah?"
"Yeah," Alyssa said, knowing she was lying, "Let's go." before they continued walking. As they walked forward and into a hallway, Alyssa walked over to the wall. She pressed a button, revealing two Silurians. Mo gasped "its alright, I think they are in stasis." Alyssa said,
"What are they?"
"Silurians. They lived on earth before you inhabited it." She said as she walked in and around and looked at what they were standing on and up. "Transportation," she said to Mo, who was following her gaze. He nodded and looked at a gun on the hip of one of the Silurians, "Even better. Weapons. Come on, now we can fight back." Mo said and took the weapon slowly, Alyssa following the lead, glancing down at the gun that was still on her hip. Before she switched off the lights.
"Which way now?"
"Door at the end," Alyssa said,
"Are you sure?"
"No," she said as the two of them walked forward and into a massive chamber with a bunch of Silurians.
"Wow," Mo said,
"Yeah." Alyssa said, "this is a whole civilization."
"We don't stand a chance," Mo said,
"We have a chance. We need to find the Doctor." Alyssa said before leaving the chamber. As they walked, Alyssa slowly grew pale; she brought her hand up to her head and whipped it, her hand coming back wet, as she suddenly felt frail and stumbled, "are you okay?"
"I don't know," She said as she let out a cough. "Did they go through the decontamination before I woke up?" Mo's face grew pale as he nodded,
"I'm dying; they destroyed the things keeping me alive we really need to find the Doctor," she said as she tried to walk some more and stumbled. Mo caught her and tossed her arm around his shoulder as he supported her, "We need to keep moving." she said, and they kept moving. Before they finally found a room and Mo placed Alyssa in a hiding place, "You're not authorized to do this." a male voice said,
"I am authorized to protect the safety of our species while they sleep." a woman's voice said,
"Oh, lovely place. Very gleaming." The Doctor said; Alyssa looked at Mo and whispered, "that's the Doctor." she pushed herself up to standing and lifted her gun as she stepped out of her hiding place, barely standing. She walked in, pointing the gun at the woman seeing the Doctor Amy and Nasreen in the room.
"Let them go," Alyssa said
"Alyssa. There's a girl to rely on." the Doctor said; Alyssa didn't glance at him as Mo snuck behind them,
"I don't want to shoot you, but I will; you are covered both ways," Alyssa said as Nasreen glanced behind them.
"Mo.," she said,
"Now let them go," Alyssa said, and the Silurian stocked towards her and disarmed her quickly,
"Don't you touch her!" The Doctor yelled as Alyssa fell to the floor, looking up at the Doctor who finally realized how she looked. Fear rushed through him as he remembered the decontamination they almost put him through; she was dying. "And you." the woman said, looking at Mo, who was quickly disarmed.
"All right, Restac, you've made your point."
"This is now a military tribunal. Go back to your laboratory, Malohkeh," he said, and the two hissed at each other.
"This isn't the way," Malohkeh said, glancing at Alyssa with a sad look on his face before leaving.
"Prepare them for execution," Restac said, and the five of them were chained to the pillars in the room. Alyssa barely standing, "Let her go, look at her. She's sick." Mo said, begging for Alyssa, who held her head against the wall and closed her eyes. As the Silurians stood, their weapons pointing at them. However, they did not fire. They made no comment on how Alyssa looked.
"Why are they waiting? What do you think they're going to do with us?" Nasreen asked. A screen appeared showing Rory, a woman, and Tony. "Who is the ape leader?" they didn't answer as they moved about the screen.
"Who speaks for the apes?" Restac tried again,
"I speak for the humans. Some of us, anyway." Rory said,
"Do you understand who we are?" Restac said,
"Sort of. A bit. Not really." Rory said,
"We have ape hostages," Restac said
"Doctor! Alyssa," Rory yelled as the three rushed forward,
"Mo! Mo, are you okay?" The woman said.
"I'm fine, love. I've found Elliot. I'm bringing him home." Mo said,
"Doctor did you find Alyssa? What's wrong with her," Rory said, as it was apparent they had seen her; as her eyes were still closed, she opened her eyes and smiled at them weakly. But neither her nor the Doctor answered,
"Tony Mack!" Nasreen called out,
"Having fun down there?" he asked,
"Not to interrupt, but just a quick reminder to stay calm." The Doctor said,
"Show me, Alaya. Show me, and release her immediately unharmed, or we kill your friends. One by one."
"No." The woman said,
"Ambrose," Rory said,
"Steady now, everyone." the Doctor said,
"Ambrose, stop it," Tony said,
"Get off me, Dad." She said as Tony tried to stop her, "We didn't start this."
"Let Rory deal with this, Ambrose, eh?" The Doctor said,
"We are not doing what you say anymore. Now, give me back my family." Ambrose said,
"No. Execute the weak one." and the weapons trained on Alyssa as she shouts of No came across the screen and in the room. As the Doctor struggled against his bonds. As Alyssa was uncuffed from the pillar and pushed into the center where she fell to the ground. "Don't do this!" The Doctor yelled, but Alyssa just smiled and looked up at Restac, "I'm already dying due to your scientist, I'm like him," gesturing to the Doctor, "just do it, you will be surprised at how I'm not easy to kill." she said,
"Fire," Restac said before the shout of stop rang through the room. Alyssa shut her eyes in short-lived relief. "you want to start a war while the rest of us sleep, Restac?" the man entering said,
"The apes are attacking us," Restac said,
"You're our protector, not our commander, Restac. Unchain them." the man said
"I do not recognize your authority at this time, Eldane."
"Well, then, you must shoot me." Eldane said, and Restac stalked towards Malohkeh.
"You woke him to undermine me," Restac said,
"We're not monsters. And neither are they." Malohkeh said,
"What is it about apes you love so much, hmm?"
"While you slept, they've evolved. I've seen it for myself."
"We used to hunt apes for sport. When we came underground, they bred and polluted this planet." Restac said
"Shush now, Restac. Go and play soldiers. I'll let you know if I need you." Eldane said,
"You'll need me, then we'll see," Restac said before she left. The Doctor as soon as he was unchained rushed to Alyssa still on the ground; he brought up her face to look at him, "I'm sorry I tried to stop him, but it was too late." Alyssa said,
"Shush, this isn't your fault." the Doctor said softly as he looked her over.
"No, it's mine." Malohkeh said, "I am so sorry, is there anything I can do to help her?"
"No, we just need to see if she can regenerate or not." the Doctor said as he looked at one of her hands and saw soft tendrils of Orange glow underneath her skin. He let out a sigh of relief as he kissed her head. He stood up as the video was turned back on. "Rory. Hello," he said to Rory and the others,
"Where's Alyssa?" Rory asked
"She's fine. Well, not entirely fine, but she will be fine. Look, here, she is." The Doctor said, and Alyssa waved her hand at the others.
"Oh, thank God," Rory said,
"No time to chat. Listen, you need to get down here. Go to the drill storeroom. There's a large patch of earth in the middle of the floor. The Silurians are going to send up transport discs to bring you back down using geothermal energy and gravity bubble technology. It's how they travel, and frankly, it's pretty cool. Bring Alaya. We hand her over; we can land this, after all. All going to work, promise. Got to dash. Hurry up." The Doctor said as the transmission ended, and the people around Alyssa were pushed away. She felt the regeneration process overtake her. Her features completely changed. Her hair grew longer and turned red, before it died down. She let out a sigh as she stood up, and the Doctor ran towards her and enveloped her in a hug, "Never do that to me again."
"Can't make any promises. Doc." She said as she looked down at her new body, "how do I look?"
"Beautiful like always. You're ginger," he said as he took a chunk of her hair, which was red. "I'm jealous you're ginger before me."
"You'll get over it, but right now, we have more pressing matters," Alyssa said; Eldane was sitting at the table with Nasreen and Amy. "I'd say you've got a fair bit to talk about." The Doctor said,
"How so?" Eldane said,
"You both want the planet. You both have a genuine claim to it." The Doctor said,
"Are you authorized to negotiate on behalf of humanity?" Eldane asked the Doctor
"Me? No. But they are." The Doctor said, gesturing to Amy and Nasreen.
"What?" Nasreen said
"No, we're not," Amy said,
"Course you too are, Amy Pond and Nasreen speaking for the planet. There couldn't have been two better ambassadors." Alyssa said,
"Is this what happens in the future? The planet gets shared? Is that what we need to do?" Amy said, getting up and walking over to the Doctor and Alyssa.
"Er, what are you talking about?" Nasreen said,
"We sort of travel through time," Alyssa said and watched as Nasreen's eyes went huge.
"Anything else? And how did you change how you looked." Nasreen said, and Alyssa scratched the back of her head. "Sorry, we didn't explain that it's a way me and the Doctor cheat death and about the time travel and this situation," Alyssa said as she looked at the Doctor.
"There are fixed points through time where things must always stay the way they are. This is not one of them. This is an opportunity—a temporal tipping point. Whatever happens today will change future events, create its own timeline, its own reality. The future pivots around you, here, now. So do good, for humanity, and for Earth." The Doctor said,
"Good luck," Alyssa said,
"Right. No pressure there, then." Amy said as she walked back to the table and sat down.
"You'll do fine, Amy," Alyssa said
"We can't share the planet. Nobody on the surface is going to go for this idea. It is just too big a leap." Nasreen said
"How confident are you about that?" Alyssa said, smiling at Nasreen as the Doctor said, "Come on. Be extraordinary."
"Oh…" Nasreen said but stopped herself as she sat back down at the table.
"Okay. Bringing things to order. The first meeting of representatives of the human race and Homo Reptilia is now in session."
"Silurians dear, call them what they are." She blinked as she realized she was British again, as the Doctor said
"Ha! Never said that before. That's fab. Carry on." He said before he took Alyssa's hand and walked over to Mo. "Now, Mo. Let's go and get your son. Oh, you know, humans and their predecessors shooting the breeze. Never thought I'd see it." he said as the three of them plus Malohkeh left the room. They made their way back to the hallway where Elliot was.
"Elliot. There you are." The Doctor said as Malohkeh opened the door containing Elliot.
"If you've harmed him in any way," Mo said,
"Oh, he's fine. The only person he harmed is me, well not harmed, killed." Alyssa said as she stared at Malohkeh, who flinched.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know you weren't human." Malohkeh turned to Mo, "of course not. I only store the young."
"But why?" The Doctor said, and Alyssa just crossed her arms,
"I took samples of the young, slowed their lifecycles to a millionth of their normal rate so I could study how they grew, what they needed, how they lived on the surface."
"You know it's not that fun being a test subject. Take it from someone who knows how it feels," Alyssa said, making Malohkeh flinch again. The Doctor put his hand on Alyssa's shoulder. Alyssa met his eyes, and he shook his head, and Alyssa let out a sigh as her body relaxed a bit.
"You've been down here working by yourself, all alone?" The Doctor said,
"My family, through the millennia, and for the last three hundred years, just me." Malohkeh said before turning to Mo, "I never meant to harm your child."
"Malohkeh, I rather love you." The Doctor said, and Alyssa made a sound of disagreement. "Well, I would if you hadn't killed her, but you didn't know." as Malohkeh pressed a button behind him.
"It's safe. We can wake him." Malohkeh said as the door opened; he walked in and unhooked Elliot before gesturing for Mo to step in. "Come," he said, and Mo instantly walked forward. He watched as Elliot blinked, and Mo said, "Elliot? Ell, it's Dad."
"Dad," Elliot said, and the two hugged,
"You're safe now," Mo said, and
"Where are we?" Elliot said,
"Well, I've got to be honest with you, son. We're in the centre of the Earth, and there are lizardmen." Mo said, and Alyssa let out a laugh as Elliot looked at the three of them; she waved at him, "Hi." Malohkeh said,
"Wow." Elliot said before the Doctor walked forward, and "Elliot. I'm sorry. I took my eye off you." he said, and he held his hand out to Elliot.
"It's okay. I forgive you." Elliot said, and the three started walking back down the hallway, Malohkeh staying behind. "You go on, Doctor. I'll catch up," he said, and the Doctor nodded.
They walked back into the room where Amy, Nasreen, and Eldane were in as Nasreen said, "Okay. Now I'm starting to see it." Nasreen said after Eldane told them the benefits they could give humans if they gave them space.
"Oh yeah." Amy said, and the Doctor and Alyssa clapped as they walked further in the room, "Well done both of you." Alyssa said,
"Not bad for a first session. More similarities than differences." The Doctor said before a sound came from behind them, which made all four of them look behind them.
"The transport has returned. Your friends are here." Eldane said, and Alyssa winced as she remembered what happened next. They waited for a while before Rory appeared and walked into the room. "Here they are." the Doctor said as Ambrose came in, and Elliot ran forward to her. "Mum!" he shouted,
"Rory!" Amy said but didn't move as Tony came in carrying a body.
"Something's wrong." The Doctor said as the three walked farther into the room,
"Doctor, what's he carrying?" Amy asked,
"No. Don't do this. Tell me you didn't do this." The Doctor said as Tony laid the body on the floor. The Doctor walked forward and removed the blanket from the body's face showing the Silurian Alaya. "What did you do?" the Doctor said, looking at Tony,
"It was me. I did it." Ambrose said as Alyssa took a step forward and looked at Alaya.
"Mum?" Elliot said as he broke away from Ambrose.
"I just wanted you back," she said, but Elliot brushed her arms away and walked back to his father. The Doctor turned around and walked to Eldane.
"I'm sorry. I didn't know. You have to believe me, they're better than this." The Doctor said,
"This is our planet!" Ambrose said; Alyssa walked over to Eldane and said, "ignore her. There has now been death on both sides; for me to change my face in that Golden mist, I had to die. Both sides had casualties. You have children, don't you? Wouldn't you do anything to get them back?" Alyssa said, and Eldane looked off to the side as the Doctor s
"We had a chance here." The Doctor said, turning around to face Ambrose.
"Leave us alone," Ambrose said, as Alyssa continued staring at Eldane,
"In future, when you talk about this, you tell people there was a chance, but you were so much less than the best of humanity." the Doctor said as he walked over to Ambrose. Soldiers began to surround them as Restac walked back in.
"My sister." She said before she noticed the body on the ground, and she walked forward and removed the blanket that the Doctor placed back over her. She made a sound of mourning before covering her face again. "And you want us to trust these apes, Doctor?"
"One woman. She was scared for her family. She is not typical." The Doctor said,
"I think she is," Restac said, standing and facing Ambrose,
"No, she's not, and you aren't typical for your whole race either Restac, you can be better than this. All of you can," Alyssa said, and the Doctor nodded.
"One person let us down, but there is a whole race of dazzling, peaceful human beings up there. You were building something here. Come on. An alliance could work." the Doctor said,
"It's too late for that, Doctor," Ambrose said,
"Why?" The Doctor said, as Alyssa closed her eyes and let out a breath,
"Our drill is set to start burrowing again in fifteen minutes."
"What?" Nasreen said,
"What choice did I have? They had Elliot." Tony said,
"You could've waited to see whether or not they harmed Elliot; you assumed the worse of them. You assumed they would harm Elliot," Alyssa said, gesturing to Elliot. "He's fine. You assumed the worse of them and wonder why they assume the worse of you." Alyssa said, rounding on Tony, who had the decency to look guilty.
"Don't do this. Don't call their bluff." The Doctor said,
"Let us go back. And you promise to never come to the surface ever again. We'll walk away, leave you alone." Ambrose said
"They have every right to the planet as you do, Ambrose. And you have no authority to make that decision on whether or not there will be peace for the whole human race." Alyssa said. She looked at Restac, who was staring at Ambrose.
"Execute her." She said Alyssa ran forward and grabbed Ambrose and made her duck as gun blasts fired above them. "Everybody, back to the lab. Run." The Doctor said he brought out his screwdriver as everyone, but Alyssa and the Doctor ran out of the room.
"Execute all the apes," Restac said, as the Doctor activated his sonic and all the weapons exploded. "This is a deadly weapon. Stay back." The Doctor said. Alyssa grabbed the Doctor as he continued blowing up the guns and pulled him out of the way just as a tongue lashed out to strike him and missed. They started running out of the room, following behind the others. They reached Rory, and the Doctor stopped and pushed Alyssa to keep going. "Take everyone to the lab. I'll cover you."
"No, I'm not leaving you," Alyssa said,
"Yes, you are now go!" the Doctor said
"I hate you!" Alyssa said as she began leading the others to the lab, hearing the Doctor call out, "No, you don't!" they made their way to the Lab. After a couple seconds, the Doctor ran in and closed the door's behind him. "Elliot, you and your dad keep your eyes on that screen. Let me know if we get company. Amy, keep reminding me how much time we haven't got." The Doctor said as he tossed her the pocket watch.
"Okay. Um, er, twelve minutes till drill impact." Amy said as Alyssa walked over to Tony, who was looking sweaty. The Doctor doing the same thing. "Show me what's wrong with you," she said, and Tony exposed green veins on his chest. Alyssa brought out her pen and began scanning it. As the Doctor leaned over her reading the scans from it as well.
"Tony, what happened?" Nasreen said,
"Alaya's sting. She said there's no cure. I'm dying, aren't I?" Tony said as Alyssa turned around and pushed the results on the screen behind her.
"No, not dying, mutating," Alyssa said as she watched the results
"How can I stop it?"
"Decontamination program. Might work. Don't know. Eldane, can you run the program on Tony?" The Doctor said, and Eldane started to take Tony to decontaminate him.
"Doctor, shedload of those creatures coming our way. We're surrounded in here." Mo said, and Alyssa ran a hand over her face.
"So, the question is, how do we stop the drill given we can't get there in time? Plus, also, how do we get out, given that we're surrounded? Nasreen, how do you feel about an energy pulse channeled up through the tunnels to the base of the drill?" The Doctor said as he and Alyssa walked over to her.
"To blow up my life's work?" Nasreen said,
"Can't think of a better option, sorry," Alyssa said,
"Yes. Sorry. No nice way of putting that." The Doctor said as well,
"Right, well, you're going to have to do it before the drill hits the city, in er," Nasreen said, looking at Amy for the time left.
"Eleven minutes forty seconds," Amy said,
"Yes. Squeaky bum time." the Doctor said as he walked over to the controls.
"Yes, but the explosion is going to cave in all the surrounding tunnels, so we have to be out and on the surface by then," Nasreen said,
"But we can't get past Restac's troops," Rory said,
"Right problems keep arising," Alyssa said; she turned to Eldane. "Do you know of anything that can help us?" Eldane nodded,
"Toxic Fumigation. An emergency failsafe meant to protect my species from infection. A warning signal to occupy cryo-chambers, after that, citywide fumigation by toxic gas. Then the city shuts down." Eldane said, and Alyssa nodded
"Not the best option, but it might work," Alyssa said
"You could end up killing your own people," Amy said,
"Only those foolish enough to follow Restac." Eldane said; Alyssa let out a sigh as she looked at the Doctor.
"Eldane, are you sure about this?" The Doctor said,
"My priority is my race's survival. The Earth isn't ready for us to return yet." Eldane said
"No, but it can be, and it should be," Alyssa said, and the Doctor looked at her as if he was thinking the same thing.
"Ten minutes, Doctor. Alyssa," Amy said,
"it should be." the Doctor said before walking around as he continued, "So, here's a deal. Everybody listening. Eldane, you activate shutdown. We'll amend the system, set your alarm for a thousand years' time. A thousand years to sort the planet out. To be ready. Pass it on. As legend, or prophecy, or religion, but somehow make it known. This planet is to be shared." As Eldane got to work on the controls.
"Yeah. I get you." Elliot said
"Nine minutes, seven seconds," Amy said, and the Doctor pointed at Alyssa, who was still at the controls. She looked down and got to work.
"Energy pulse. Timed, primed, and set. Before we go, energy barricade. Can you handle that, Doc?" Alyssa said, and the Doctor walked over and used his screwdriver to turn off the barricade.
"Fumigation pre-launching." Eldane said,
"Okay," Alyssa said,
"There's not much time for us to get from here to the surface, Doctor, Alyssa."
"You wanna bet?" Alyssa said, looking at Rory.
"super-squeaky bum time. Get ready to run for your lives. Now."
"But, the decontamination program on your friend hasn't started yet." Eldane said; Alyssa and the Doctor looked at Tony as Alyssa racked her brain on what to do.
"Well, go. All of you go." Tony said,
"No, we're not leaving you here," Ambrose said,
"Granddad," Elliot said as he rushed over to him and hugged him,
"Eight minutes ten seconds," Amy said,
"Now you look after your mum. You mustn't blame her. She only did what she thought was right." Tony said to Elliot after they broke apart,
"I'm not going to see you again, am I?" Elliot said
"I'll be here, always. I love you, boy." Before he took Elliot in a hug before pushing him to Ambrose, Tony said, "You be sure he gets home safe."
"This is my fault," Ambrose said close to tears,
"No, I can't go back up there. I'd be a freak show. The technology down here's my only hope." Tony said, before hugging her,
"I love you, Dad," Ambrose said,
"Go. Go." Tony said, gesturing to everyone, as Eldane started the Toxic fumigation. The light turned off as an alarm sounded. "Toxic fumigation initiated." A computer voice said and continued saying as Amy rushed over to the screen and said, "They're going. We're clear."
"Okay, everyone follow Nasreen. Look for a blue box. Get ready to run." The Doctor said as he opened the door.
"Return to cryo-chambers." The computer voice said, as the Doctor and Alyssa turned around and walked to Eldane,
"I'm sorry." the Doctor said,
"I thought for a moment, our race and the humans." Eldane said
"Yeah, me too."
"Doctor, We've got less than six minutes," Amy said,
"Go. Go! I'm right behind you. Let's go." The Doctor said before looking at Alyssa, "you go too." pushing her away towards the others. "I hate you," She said
"No, you don't." The Doctor said as Alyssa ran out with the others. They ran for a while before Alyssa stopped and looked behind her, "That man will kill me out of stress." she said before she rushed back. "Doctor!" she yelled, "We really need to go!" The Doctor looked at her and let out a sigh before turning back to Nasreen, "thank you, Doctor." Nasreen said,
"The pleasure was all mine." The Doctor said and hugged her before breaking away and grabbing Alyssa's hand. They ran off to find the Tardis. "Come and Find us!" Nasreen shouted from behind them. They rushed, passed Rory and Amy, "Other way, guys." Alyssa said as they all ran to get to the Tardis.
"Toxic fumigation is about to commence. Immediate evacuation." The Computer said as they rejoined the others. "Come on." The Doctor said as they continued running till they finally got to the room with the Tardis in it.
"No questions, just get in. And yes, I know, it's big. Ambrose, sickbay up the stairs, left, then left again. Get yourself fixed up. Come on. Five minutes and counting." The Doctor said as he unlocked the Tardis before he turned around and paused. "Not here," he said as a crack was glowing. "Not now. It's getting wider."
"The crack on my bedroom wall," Amy said,
"And the Byzantium. All through the universe, rips in the continuum." The Doctor said as he walked over to it and kneeled in front of it. A headache ripped through her, "Doctor!" She said, panic feeling her voice as she remembered what happened next. He turned around. "Restac.." she started before she disappeared. "Is coming." she finished from where she had jumped. She fell to her knees as she realized that Rory was probably just killed, and she completely forgot about it.
Author's Note: I know it's been awhile since I have published anything for this story. I had to decide how to have Alyssa regenerate, I just knew I wanted her to regenerate here. The Next Alyssa was a decision I made a long time ago. and she is now portrayed as Sophie Turner, when she was still ginger!
