Rixxa paced her campsite growling it had been a full week since she had cast her spell at the eclipse and now not only had she seemingly lost her power over light, but her spell seemed to have not worked at all.
"Why! Why is this happening? All I wanted was to find my brother and be happy again." She said aloud to herself. When she woke up after the spell she had found that her powers were gone she figured that was a side effect of the spell. But after three days her power had not returned. She only grew more frustrated not only had she didn't have any powers but none of the spells she tried worked. After a while she sat down in her tent and fussed with the end of her blanket. 'I guess that means he is dead, and the loss of my own powers are the repercussions for casting such a strong spell.' She thought to herself.
Tears streamed down her face as she laid down and pulled the blanket over her face content to just stay there and slowly die. Suddenly the sounds of ripping fabric pulled her from her sorrow as deep violet light surrounded and continued to rip the tent apart. The pieces that were no longer attached were floating in the air.
"What the hell is going on." She said as sorrow was replaced by fear. The out of control magic destroyed the rest of the tent, leaving her surrounded by just bits of fabric that were in the process of now unraveling themselves. 'Wait I'm doing this, if that is the case then not only is my brother alive but he must be Time. Which makes me Chaos' she thought as she began to get herself calmed down.
"Ok Rixxa think, your spell worked just north the way you have hoped. Pros your brother is alive. Cons you have no idea how to find him or what triggers your powers. And we have read that book cover to cover in the last week there is no spell to call us together. So I have to continue looking the way I have been. But if he is just as unstable all I have to do is look for changes in time." She said as she took a few calming breaths to steady herself. She already had to get a new tent. The last thing she needed was to be forced to replace all of her supplies.
Once she had herself settled she began to pack up her stuff so that it would not be destroyed. When she was done she picked up the spell book that held all the Time and Chaos spells flipping through them until she found one that she determined was the easiest and tried to cast it. Not only did the spell miss fire it drained most of her energy.
"Ok that didn't work, and now the trees are spinning, mayhaps I should do what I did with my old power and get control first." She chuckled to herself. She was a mix of both excitement and disappointment. She knew her brother was alive but she didn't get the power that she had wanted.
Back in the capital.
"HOW DID HE ESCAPE!" A man dressed in a fiery red robe yelled as he paces the length of the room.
"I'm not entirely sure one moment he was there being drained and then the next not only was he gone the same with the mouse he seemed to think we didn't know he still had. We don't know what happened, even the wind and water mage's say they can get their scurrying spells to work to" see" what happened. Or so they say." A man dressed in black robes replied with his voice steady. He had his own idea as to how the boy escaped.
"Well what are you still doing here, find that boy before he can tell anyone what is going on. We don't need a revolt, on our hands." The man in red replied. After a quick bow the man in black left, his thumb on his bottom lip in thought. 'That kind of magic is just supposed to be a myth. Though maybe not so much, maybe it is just that no one can be born with it. Time magic, I will have to look through the oldest books we have. We can use that on the next pair those bounty hunters bring back. If we can use the boy's new power to speed up how fast their magic comes back then we wouldn't have to wait as long. Or maybe…' he thought as he walked into his chambers and in a hidden room behind the bookshelf was his own private lab.
He only hid it after his last apprentice almost blew his arms off. With a quick flick of his wrist the bioluminescent plants he kept sprung to "life" normally there light would not be enough to see by except theses where grown by an Earth mage and therefore had a brighter light. After some time he summoned a page using the bell pull that was in his room.
"You called My Lord." A young girl said as he answered the door.
"Are you fast child?" He growled.
"Yes sir the fast in my year." She replied with a bit of pride.
"Good run this down to the man who lives in the garden house, the Earth mage there. No you do not have to wait for a reply. Then I want you to give this to the librarian again, you do not have to wait for a reply. Can you do that?" He asked. Getting a nod in response as he handed her two letters each with who they were to be given to written on the front. After having her repeat back what he had said he sent her on her way. Smiling he retreated back into his room for the night.
In the garden house
A sharp knock came from the door.
"Alright, I'm just wait a minute." A male voice called. Rubbing his pale grass green eyes he ran his fingers through his short raven hair as he walked to the door. 'Who is calling this time of night.' He thought as he opened the door to a young girl dressed in a page's uniform.
"This is for you sir, if you wish me to wait around for a reply I can if not then I will take my leave." The page said.
"No you're good here this is for you." The man said as he reached into a bowl of sweets that he kept for pages such as her. Handing it out to her he closed the door and opened the letter.
"Why can't you just ever invite me to a party or something, why must it alway be work?" the man said to the letter with a smirk as he threw the letter into the fireplace before lighting a fire. After waiting the newly built fire consume the note did he begin to collect everything he would need for his upcoming job.
