Hello, my lovely readers. Caroline finds herself under Esther's spell, will she figure it out, or are her feelings for Klaus all too real? On with the show.
Chapter 12: You've Put a Spell On Me, and, Now, I'm Yoooouuurrrsss!
The morning after an eventful Halloween night; Caroline Forbes laid in Klaus Mikaelson's bed. Her heart beat a happy tune. A smile lit up her face and could tell the whole story of her emotional turn-around when it came to the Original Hybrid. Of course, her smile began to dim, slowly. After the initial fifteen minutes of waiting for Klaus to return to bed, Caroline sat up, and looked around. If he intended to leave her in his room; he shouldn't expect her to not become nosy. Slipping off the side of the bed, Caroline wrapped a sheet around her and began an informal tour. Klaus had a lot of nice, expensive things. Now, that they were together, she wondered how expensive things he would be giving her. Not that she was with him for gifts. No, being with Klaus was a gift itself. Just the thought of him made her want to break out in song.
Picking up one of his many necklaces, Caroline held it up to her own neck. She began to sing, "You made me love you," to the mirror. Unclasping the necklace, she slid it around her throat, allowing the pendant to fall on her chest. Yes. Now, she definitely felt connected to him. Of course, Caroline wished Klaus would get his ass back up here, so they could continue connecting in another way. However, it looked like whoever had arrived at his door was just important enough to keep him busy.
A buzzing sound filled the air. Eyes darting in the direction of the buzzing, Caroline made her way over to her purse. Hand going down, she tugged it open and removed her cell phone. Bonnie's name was in the screen. Swiping her finger across the screen, Caroline found that Bonnie had texted Caroline to remind the vampire of their informal school session local.
Since Klaus blew up the high school, and none if the neighboring schools had extra room, the Mystic Falls School Board agreed to allow students to "learn from home," or the local library; if they did not have their own technology. So, for today's session, the gang was meeting at Bonnie's with their laptops and books. They would probably be rotating whose house they went to based on who was worried about electricity bills. Come to think of it, shouldn't Stefan had offered first? Well, then they would have to deal with Damon...
Snapping out of her thoughts, Caroline realized Klaus was still not back. Fine. She needed to take a shower, and using his sounded like fun. Maybe he would remember that she was there, and come up to join her...
Caroline went into the bathroom. She turned on the shower. Hot water came out immediately. When had that ever happened at her house? Never. Yup. Being Klaus' girl would afford Caroline a whole new world of luxury. She let the sheet fall to the floor and climbed in. Looking around, she found a bottle of shampoo that smelled like Klaus. Sniffing the shampoo, she closed her eyes and pretended he was massaging the shampoo into her locks.
By the time Caroline was finished showering, she felt sure she would find Klaus lying on his bed with a big smile and no clothes. But she did not find a happy hybrid in the bedroom. Frowning, Caroline opened his drawers, removed a long-sleeved button-down shirt and pulled it on. Opening s new drawer, she grabbed a pair of boxers. No way was she leaving without clean clothes. She would laundry these garments, and bring them back the next time she stayed the night. Okay. She just wanted to wear his clothes. Opening his closet, she pulled out a belt and fastened it around her waist before admiring her fashion statement. Cute.
With a smile, Caroline closed the closet door. Going back into the bathroom, she gathered the sheet and the bottle of shampoo. Not like he'd miss it. Going back into his bedroom, she shoved the bottle into her bag and the sheet in the laundry basket. She bent over to gather her Miss Mystic gown and sash before rising to go.
On her way down the stairs, Caroline could hear voices coming from the great room. Klaus' and a stranger's. Curiosity overwhelmed her. Sneaking over to the doorway, she ease-dropped. "And you truly expect me to believe this fabulous tale?" Klaus said. Caroline moved to see him uncorking his tumbler of scotch and pouring himself a drink. His eyes flicked to where Caroline stood, but his expression did not reflect seeing her.
If Klaus was pretending Caroline must not there, then that must mean that whoever than he was talking to was a foe, not a friend. She moved just inside the doorway. This person was going to learn that you did not mess with Klaus Mikaelson, or his baby vamp girlfriend. "Hello," the man turned to Caroline with a smile. "Didn't know you had company." His eyes shifted to Klaus as the stranger moved closer to Caroline.
"Yes. Just a dalliance. You've been lovely, sweetheart. Good-bye." Klaus smirked at Caroline, wiggling his fingers around his glass.
The other man shook his head. "No, honey. Don't go. Tell me: What's your name?" His dark eyes searched Caroline's.
"Caroline Forbes." Caroline retorted, coolly. She could see Klaus biting back a curse into his glass as the other man smiled at her. "And you are?"
"Marcel Gerard." Marcel held a hand. "Klaus' son."
For a moment, Caroline could only stare at Marcel. "Did you say...'son?'" she chocked out. Her eyes darted to Klaus. He could have kids? Seriously! Why would he not tell her that? And how many did he have? A thousand year's worth of baby-making time? Was she pregnant, now? Her hand went out to clutch the doorframe.
Marcel took her arm, helping her to a chair. "Don't worry, Caroline, I'm adopted. And we vamps can't procreate." He patted her shoulder.
"Thank God!" Caroline exhaled. Klaus' and Marcel's brows rose at her comment. "Not like 'Thank God, I'll never have a baby. Just... I have a plan. Plans. Things to do...before kids...and you're grown...so I don't have to be hands-on..." Her eyes rose to Klaus who let out a sudden Hissing nose between his teeth.
"Nothing to worry about on that front, Caroline, because, you and I a causal thing. Bit of fun. And all that. Don't you have friends to play with?" Klaus' eyes bored into Caroline's and she felt hurt by his words. "Say 'Good-bye' to Marcel then."
Stiffening, Caroline got to her feet with as much dignity as she could muster. "Good-bye, Marcel. And hood luck with your father." The last part came out in a snarl, directed at Klaus. She shouldered her bag and stormed out of the room
Caroline could hear Marcel speaking to Klaus as she headed to the door. "I like her. She's feisty."
"Oh, you have no idea. Now, we have matters to discuss. Like how long you intend on staying in town." Caroline did not hear Marcel's answer because she slammed the front door closed behind her. At least she had school to concentrate on. And she did not have to worry about aby Originals, and their tactless behavior.

Less than twenty minutes later, Caroline arrived on Bonnie's doorstep. Lifting a finger, Caroline ran the doorbell. And less than a minute later, Bonnie answered. With a smile, Caroline entered the house. She found Kol and Rebekah Mikaelson already there. Smile freezing on her lips; Caroline turned to Bonnie. "What are THEY doing HERE?"
Smirking back at Caroline, Rebekah pursed her lips. "I have a better question? What is it that you are wearing?"
Kol looked up from his laptop. He leaned his chin on his knee. "I believe this outfit came from the House of Klaus Mikaleson, don't you, sister?"
"Right down to the accessory!" Rebekah let put laugh that made Caroline see red.
Bonnie came to stand in front of Caroline. "They are in some of our classes... And they offered to let us use Klaus' place for our next session."
Caroline looked at Kol and Rebekah who smirked at her from the floor. "Did you ask Klaus, first?"
"Did you?" Rebekah inquired. "He usually doesn't let his one-night-stands borrow his things."
A growl came out of Caroline and it was a very good thing that someone hit the doorbell, because Caroline was about to hit an Original. Turning, Caroline made her way over to the door. "Hi, Elena! You will never believe who Bonnie is letting study with us..." Moving out of the way, Caroline allowed the doppelganger to enter the living room.
Elena's eyes narrowed and she folded her arms over her chest. Now, this was the reaction Caroline felt was appropriate for the occasion. "What is she doing here?" Elena snapped, glaring at Rebekah.
Rebekah rolled her eyes. "Still struggling with sharing. I thought you had to as a sibling. I know I did." She flicked a dirty look Kol's way.
Kol grinned. "Caroline is sharing Klaus' underpants, as we speak!"
"Kol, don't look up my friend's...shirt..." Bonnie's brows rose.
Snickering, Kol shot his head. "I'm not, darling. I'm looking up Nik's shirt!"
Now, Elena turned to stare at Caroline with a frown. "Why are you wearing Klaus'...everything?" She shook her head at Caroline. "Geez, you even smell like him!" Placing her fingers to her nose, she pinched it and backed over to stand beside Kol.
Becoming defiant, Caroline raised her head. "If you have to know, I slept with Klaus after the festival!"
"You what?" Bonnie and Elena cried, with twin looks of shock. "Caroline, how could you? Klaus is a monster!" Elena added, with a hurt look.
"The same way you sniff around Damon Salvatore, dear." Rebekah gave Elena a knowing look. Elena's jaw dropped, and she night have started yelling at Rebekah, but the doorbell rang, again.
"What happened between me and Klaus us not anyone else's business!" Caroline snapped, staring at Elena, whose attention returned to her old friend.
"And Tyler's!" Rebekah added with a snort.
"Oh, no!" Bonnie moaned. She turned to look at Caroline who had turned to find Tyler and Matt coming into the room.
"What happened between you and Klaus?" Matt asked, moving to sit with Elena.
Caroline rolled her eyes. "Everyone is going to know soon, anyway, because of Rebekah's big mouth!"
"My big mouth!" Rebekah shook her head. "I didn't make you do it!"
"What?" Matt dropped his textbook on Kol's foot. "You did Klaus?" Matt asked Caroline.
"Yes!" Caroline cried, annoyed. A pair of arms slammed around her body, hugging tightly.
Tyler shook Caroline. "I am so happy for you! Both of you! Klaus is going to be in such a good mood! Should I send him some kind of congrats note before our trip to Italy?"
"You're going to Italy?" Matt just kept looking more, and more confused.
Nodding, Tyler turned, one arm still wrapped around Caroline. "Yup. Klaus is sending me, and some of the other hybrids to Italy. He wants us to dig something up. You know, just typical sire bond work. Plus, first-class tickets!" He shrugged. "I'm sure it's nothing bad."
Kol, Rebekah, and Elena scoffed before giving each other dark looks. "It's Klaus. Of course, it is something bad!" Elena said.
Before anyone else could insult Klaus, the doorbell rang, again. Bonnie opened it. "Hi."
"Hey, Bonnie." Stefan walked in. "Am I late?"
"No! You're just in time to play Judge Caroline's Life Choices!" Caroline snapped.
Stefan looked confused. Then he spotted Rebekah. "Hey!" he called with a smile hw reserved for all things Elena Gilbert-related. Elena glared and Rebekah preened. "What's going on with Caroline?"
"What is going on with you?" Caroline retorted, folding her arms over her chest.
Brows rising, Stefan turned to focus on Caroline. His eyes widened. "You slept with Klaus!" he blurted.
Caroline growled. "Judgy!"
"He did kill, like, a lot of people!" Matt volunteered.
"We've all killed people, Matt!" Caroline snapped.
"I haven't!" Elena, Matt, and Bonnie said.
Caroline rolled her eyes. "Yet..." she muttered. "Whatever! If none of you can support me, and my decisions, then I'm leaving!" She turned, opened the door and headed down the sidewalk, feeling very much alone. She didn't even get to tell them about Klaus' strange behavior this morning, or about Marcel. Kol and Rebekah might have been able to enlighten her on the topic of Klaus' son. But she would stand there and listen to them tell her about what s bad person she was.
Phone beginning to buzzing her purse, Caroline found something to distract herself with. Maybe one of her friends were texting to say: Sorry. She opened her purse and pulled out her phone. Klaus. He'd texted:
Please, let me make for this morning, tonight.
-K
With a smile, Caroline moved to text him back when a car horn went off. "Caroline!" Bonnie called, pulling over. The witch pushed the passenger seat open and Caroline got in. "I wanted to tell you I'm sorry, for not having your back. You're not the only one having complicated feelings for a Mikaelson. I think I like Kol." Green eyes on Caroline, Bonnie's lips rose in a shy smile.
"Yeah?" Caroline grinned. "Looks at us, having feelings for brothers. Oh, so many double dates." She giggled until someone came to knock on the back window.
"Bonnie, let me in, darling! She's coming!" Kol shouted, looking behind him.
Bonnie popped the backseat lock and Kol jumped in with Monica under one arm. "Monica wanted to give Auntie Bekah a haircut, with a blowtorch-"
"Kol Mikaelson!" Rebekah screamed, running down the street, hair on fire.
"Drive, Bonnie! Satan's Beauty Shop Disaster is gaining on us!" Kol shouted, staring out the back window. Monica giggled.
Caroline felt blessed that she had offered she and Klaus' doll to a charity. Oh, no. What if it was possessed, too? Well, she'd Google any doll-related disasters, other Monica's, after she figured our what to wear for her date with Klaus, tonight.
