December 28th 2018

Jay bounced excitedly as he stared at the road that went past his family's junkyard. Today was when his annual sleepover with all of his friends takes place... and he has three new friends that would be joining him this time! A grin crossed his features at that thought, excitement dancing in his eyes even as a familiar minivan pulled up. "Drake!" Jay waved frantically, drawing the teen with blonde hair towards him.

"Hey Jay...long time no see. Do you know if Jones is going to make it to the sleepover?" Drake fist-bumped him, casually bringing up their other friend.

Jay nodded enthusiastically, before informing him of some pretty big news. "Yeah... oh guess what? While I've been away at boarding school I made some new friends there and I invited them as well. You'll love them. Trust me on this."

"Hey! If you say we'll like these new friends of yours, we'll like them. Just quick question... why did you went to boarding school instead of New Ninjago City Mid-Town High this year anyways?" Another blonde, one with buzz cut hair and happened to be rather tall and skinny darted into the junkyard as a tow truck drove slowly past.

Jay shrugged, before hugging his friend. "Oh it was my folks idea. Apparently I'm adopted and my biological mother went to this particular school so they wanted me to get closer to her via going there myse...KAI!" Jay shoot off like lightning at the sight of two bats, one of which was carrying an overnight bag, flew into the junkyard.

The two bats landed on the snow covered ground, changing into their human forms to reveal that it was Ray and Kai. Grinning, the younger vampire slugged Jay in the arm, before casually dropping an arm around his shoulders. "Nya says thank you for the sleepover." Jay blinked, confused on why his crush, by the way he totally was not blushing at the mention of her name, was thanking him for a sleepover that she wasn't even invited to.

Ray noticed Jay's confusion, and blush at the mention of his young daughter which he decided to ignore for now, and stepped forward, his fangs flashing in the light. "Since Kai was invited to a sleepover, my Maya told Nya that she could host a sleepover while Kai is gone. Pixal Borg had already arrived when we left, and I'm pretty sure I saw the Chen limousine on its way over."

"Ah...that makes more sense." Jay nodded, unaware of how frozen his oldest friends were at the moment.

Just then a ghostly ride zoomed into the junkyard. Skidding to a halt, the back door banged open as Cole jumped out, overnight bag in hand. "Bye Dad! You don't have to stay! See you tomorrow afternoon!"

Kai jumped onto that. quickly pointing a finger at Ray. "Cole's got a point... see you later Dad." Kai began the process of pushing his father out of the yard.

"Why are you pushing Mr. Smith?" Zane stepped out of a random portal that appeared out of nowhere.

Everyone stopped either their internal panic at the sight of monsters, or attempts to get parental figures out of the yard to turn to stare at him. "Uh... Z? What's up with the portal...?" Jay spoke slowly, not sure what to think about the random portal.

"My younger brother, Echo, has been watching quite a bit of Transformers lately. Father decided to attempt to make a ground bridge himself to satisfy his curiosity. Nothing to it really."

They decided not to say anything about that, instead turning back to getting the lingering parents, that weren't Ed and Edna, out of the yard and internally panicking over the presence of the teen monsters.

Jay checked for what felt like the millionth time that the cupcakes his parents had ordered for the sleepover were probably hidden so that Cole wouldn't eat them all, even as Ed paid the pizza delivery boy for delivering the three large pizzas that they had ordered for the sleepover. Turning to face his friends, he was a bit concerned to see that they still weren't mingling, Drake and Jones were glaring daggers at his new friends, while his new friends were attempting to get the cards for Sushi Go to shuffle so as to deal them out.

Kai turned to face the two human teens, holding the deck up for them to see. "You two sure you don't want to play?"

"Positive. You're not gonna eat us...vampire!" Drake spat out the last word, glaring at them.

Kai blinked, confusion crossing his brow for five seconds, before shaking his head and dealing the cards. "Okay... I'll just deal the four of us then..."

Jay sighed as he walked over to sit at the table, scooting his pile of cards closer to himself. This was not going well so far... "Dinner is served!" Ed dropped the three pizzas off on the table, yanking their tops off so as to fill the air with their scent.

Cole and Jones, both of whom were basically bottomless pits, both lunged for the pizza. Jones started slightly, staring at Cole in a mixture of horror and surprise. "Wait... I thought ghosts don't eat at all? Why are you reaching for the pizza?"

Cole shook his head as he lifted up a thick slice. "Whatcha talkin' about? We eat all the time and pizza happens to be one of my favorite dishes."

"Really... I thought that it was anything with cake in its name?" Kai sniped as he snagged a slice for himself.

Drake cautiously grabbed a slice, taking a small bite before realizing that it was the garlic chicken ranch pizza Kai was eating, not the cheese or pepperoni. "Ah...isn't garlic poisonous to vampires?"

"One vampire with a deadly allergy to the stuff and now all vampires supposedly can't eat the stuff!" Kai whined, with his friends mouthing what he said word for word.

Drake and Jones both paled at that, more concerned with the vampire than the ghost and yeti as they were, suddenly wondering how they were supposed to protect themselves from Kai if garlic apparently didn't affect him like they thought it did.

...

"Boys! Time for bed!" Edna hollered into the crowded bedroom where the five teens where trying to spread out sleeping bags.

"I'm not sleeping in the same room as those things." Drake pointed an accusing finger at the three new to the group, who were of course too busy wondering where Cole put it all as he shoved his twelfth cupcake down his throat.

Jones nodded nervously, not entirely sure how to handle this at all. Jay nibbled his bottom lip for a minute, before grabbing his sleeping bag and tossing it on the floor. "What if I slept between you? Would that help?"

"Sure...whatever. I still can't believe that you invited the freaks over." Drake grumbled as he collapsed into his sleeping bag.

Jay sighed as he wiggled into his own bag, staring up at the ceiling. It only took seconds for Jones and Drake to fall asleep, though with how uptight they've been all evening and into the night, he wasn't too surprised about that. Cole and Zane dozed off in their own sleeping bags on the other side of Jay, Cole's snoring quickly filling the air. Jay was debating having his parents just cancel the sleepover next year when Kai rolled over to face him.

"I...don't think your friends really like me, well, us. Mostly me though." Kai frowned as he spoke, his fangs glistening in the dim lighting, reminding Jay that he was a vampire and not a human.

Jay shook his head, before turning his attention back to the ceiling. "My fault. I should have warned them more about you...about me. They still don't know that I'm only half human."

"Eesh. Maybe you shouldn't bother telling them. At least wait to see if they'll warm up to the rest of us." Kai suggested, right before he passed out.

Jay sighed, before tucking his hand behind his head. What he thought would be a wonderful night full of fun had turned into a very awkward night where his two oldest friends refused to do anything with his new ones. Sleep was all they could do to salvage this mess by now...

A/N: Done! Hmm, yeah. Never invite humans and monsters to the same sleepover. Just...never. Oh well! Time for reviews and nothing said about this being a day late!
