Chapter 12: A Heated Journey
Lava Ridge main path
(5 minutes after entering the Lava Ridge Zone)
A trail of dust is coming out from the main path into the lava filled area of the Digital Island. As it gets closer you can faintly hear the sound of a-
"GOOD LORD IT IS BOILING IN THAT AREA!" Scream/yelled Seth as he is sweating buckets down his body on his mad sprint out of the lava zone.
As he returns to normal temperature back inside of the Phantom Ruins zone he begins to guzzle down all the water he can to replenish the water lost from the river of sweat that came out of him.
Right as he was finishing up his 5th bottle of water, Biyomon and Agumon finally catch up to their Tamer and friend.
"Finally we found you, we thought something horrible had happened to you when you suddenly disappeared from behind us. To think you got that fast though." Biyomon pants slightly at the speed she had to use to try and catch up with Seth.
Agumon nods in agreement, "Yeah, you can definitely see the results of his training here, but you can also probably attribute it to one main factor Biyo."
Biyomon tilts her head in confusion as she looks towards the orange dinosaur, "What's that Agu?"
Agumon holds a single claw in the air as if he was a professor giving an answer to a students question, "The need for water after such a heat wave of experience would make most people run like that."
Biyomon thinks on it briefly before answering, "You know that doesn't sound quite right, but I can't argue with what Seth is going through right now."
As they both look to their Tamer again, Seth finishes his 6th bottle of water before a loud burp is heard followed by a sigh of relief.
Wiping his head with a towel from his Digivice storage, "Ugh, that helps, but seriously, how can you guys walk through that place no problem? I was cooking after only 3 minutes in there?"
Agumon raises his claw first followed after by Biyomon with an 'it's so obvious' tone to their answers, "Fire breathing dinosaur as a rookie and champion who is a dragon type." "Fire breathing bird who turns into a bird literally made of flames."
Seth blank stares at them for a minute. Before face palming as he remembers which particular Digimon he is speaking with.
Dragging his hand down his face he sighs with exasperation, "But the fact remains that I need some new gear or something to survive the heat in that place for longer than 5 minutes."
Agumon speaks up, "Didn't you last only thr-"
"5 Minutes!" Seth cuts him off with a glare promising no dinner if he argues.
Agumon gulps at the look and nods his head quickly.
Biyomon thinks then looks at the Digivice, "Isn't there any heat resistance gear for humans in there? After all it has had food, training gear, spare clothes, and even some weapons for you to use. Maybe you missed heat resistance gear while you were looking?"
Seth begins to look through the equipment list again, "I'm telling you Biyomon I checked it twice before we went in there and I didn't find any-..."
Seth pauses as he looks at a file he missed earlier, opening it he sees it is labeled Survival Gear Where he sees fatigues for forest lands, white patterned clothes for snow, heat regulating gear for snow or dessert lands, and even frost blessed gear for super hot zones to keep the wearer cold.
His eye twitches as he reads a text from Sorcerymon,
Sorcerymon: Figured you might need this for the Lava Zone, good luck! :)
Seth lets out a long frustrated/angry yell as he screams out, "SSSSSSOOOOORRRRCCCCCEEERRRRYYYYYMOOOOOOOOOOONNNN!"
Holy Angel Palace Courtyard
The Tamers and their partners were hard at work mastering their card combos and trying to use the new Digivolution secret Klein discovered a few nights ago.
Even Leomon was training some new Champion level soldiers before everyone in the courtyard heard an echoing yell/scream that sounded like the head wizards name.
Leomon deadpans and looks at where the voice came from before looking at the castle, "Old friend, who have you been playing tricks on now?"
Shaking his head he commands all training to resume so that they don't lose their flow.
Holy Angel Palace Throne Room
Seraphimon was hard at work looking at troop movements with his Ultimate and Mega level commanders who had been able to make it from the front lines via holo vids, as they all suddenly heard the yell of anger and frustration aimed at the head wizard Digimon.
One of the generals facepalms as he hears it and looks to Seraphimon, "My lord, Apologies for this question but did Sir Sorcerymon find another poor soul to torture with his tricks again?"
Not looking up from the map Seraphimon nods and simply says, "Correct, at least he is focused on someone else instead of the Tamers that we need to work with us for the war."
Everyone else nods and goes back to the plans they have for moving against the 7 Sins army.
Holy Angel Palace Sorcerymon's Room
Sorcerymon had just finished sending the survival supplies and the text when he hears his name being called out in a very pissed off voice from far away.
Chuckling he goes back to his coffee and continues to scan for the crests energy signatures while keeping an eye out for movements from the enemy forces in the islands different zones.
As he turns back to the scanners he misses a small blip that appears and disappears in the Lava Ridge zone area.
Lava Ridge main path
After cleaning out their ears from the nearly rock shattering scream Agumon and Biyomon look at a panting Seth as he is putting on a ring and cloak that are frost blessed to keep his temperature at a better more tolerable level for him to survive the Lava ridge zones crazy hot climate.
Biyomon asks a simple question, "You done now? Got that out of your system?"
Seth simply nods as he finishes his preparations for the journey ahead. "Yeah I'm ready when you two are."
Both Digimon look to each other before nodding at Seth and they all head into the Lava filled zone.
As they enter again Seth braces himself for the intense heat, only to feel like normal as his body is surrounded by a light blue glow showing the frost blessing is active in full force.
Nodding to himself Seth breathes a sigh of relief as he looks at his two friends with a small smile on his face.
Both Digimon nod with their own smiles as they go down the path through the magma filled tundra. Between the rivers of lava and the volcanoes in the distance Seth is amazed at how this zone is so hot, so different in terms of geography and layout of the land that it is hard to believe that this place is literally next to a graveyard just barely 2 blocks back the way they came.
But considering it is similar to having different files right next to each other in your folder device in your computers works it makes sense.
Not that I can complain too much, Seth thinks to himself while Agumon is sniffing and looking around as Biyomon flies around above them to keep an eye on the skies for enemies. After all if this is compared to earth, then I would have had to go through airport security with these two to go from one place to the next depending on which country each location would be in.
Stopping to think on that, he suddenly sees memories of his family going with him on such trips around the world. And now I'm missing my trips with my family every summer.
Sighing out loud, Biyomon sees Seth looking a bit glum as he walks while Agumon turns around hearing Seth's loud sigh and goes back to check on him.
Biyomon lands next to Seth and Agumon as she asks, "What's wrong Seth?"
Agumon follows up with the classic question, "You doing okay?"
Seth looks at them both and notices their concerned expressions, "Yeah I am, I'm just… well, thinking about my family back home in the human world I guess. It feels like I haven't seen them in years, but I know it's only been a few weeks since I last saw them in person."
Looking at each other for a brief moment the two Digimon look back to him, "Why did you say in person?" Biyomon asks.
Seth looks a bit sad as he looks up at the red tinted sky from all the lava around them, "I was invited to go on a trip with them just 3 days before this whole situation happened, but I declined cause I was so excited for my new job, and the new update rumors for the Digimon Terminal game that Jennai created. I feel like a bad son right now."
Agumon comes up to Seth's side and pats his arm in comfort, "Aw don't you worry, just cause you might seem like a jerk to them"
Seth slumps his shoulders,
"Might seem like a game has more importance for you than they do"
Seth gets a gloom cloud over his head, while Biyomon is trying to motion with her wing over her neck in a 'cut it out!' type manner,
"And that they play second rate to your job, doesn't mean they love you any less. Right?… Seth?"
Looking at his Tamer, Agumon sees the psychological damage he has wrought. Seth is now curled up in the Fetal position as a rain cloud of depression is hanging over him as he mutters to himself about priorities, loved ones, and what is truly more important in life.
Agumon sweat drops heavily seeing what he has done, right as he is slapped on the back of his head so hard by Biyomon that he creates a trench for 5feet before stopping against a boulder.
While the blunt lizard is taking an impromptu nap, Biyomon comes up next to her still muttering Tamer and looks to the skies above trying to find a solution for his depression.
That's when she figures it out, "You know Seth, you have your family in both worlds right now."
Seth clears up slightly and looks to Biyomon with a sad confused face, "How do you mean?"
Biyomon continues, "Well you have your human family waiting for you back home right?"
Seth nods a little less sad thinking of it like that, "Correct."
Biyomon nods sagely, "And you have your digital family here, an annoying brother as you said in a few 'heroic' speeches during combat." Seth scratches his cheek in embarrassment from those times he was corny and honest as hell during combat against evil Digimon. "And a new sister to help you out of the funk caused by the same annoying lizard brother I just mentioned. Me!"
As she proudly points her own thumb claw towards her chest in pride. Seth chuckles a little as the gloom cloud clears and joins her line of sight towards the sky, seeing a tint of blue through the red colored sky knowing that his hope of getting home is still there and as real as the sky is up above them.
"Heh you really are like a sister, my human sister would point out similar things to me when I was down in the dumps to help me get out of depressions when things got hard. And now here you are doing her job for her. Thanks Biyo I appreciate having you guys with me so much."
Biyomon smiles proudly with a tint of blush on her feathers at his honest feelings towards her and their makeshift family. Hugging his leg in her own form of appreciation as he pats her head in a caring fashion.
Then they are both hugged from behind by a now awake Agumon with a large bump on his head, "Awwww my brother and friend building trust without me, thanks for leaving me out of this needed soulful journey, but it's fine I care for you guys too."
Seth and Biyo both look to each other for a moment before hugging Agumon back and all of them chuckling to each other in a friendly manner.
Just before they hear a loud roar in the distance from a few miles up the path. They all get serious and looks towards the volcano in the distance with fresh determination and friendship in their hearts as they make their way through the rest of this zone.
Meanwhile in the Lava Ridge Volcanic range
We see a wild Greymon, covered in gashes and burns, be thrown off the mountain side after a brutal battle that turns him into data and reforms into his Digi-egg form. The other champions are shivering in fear at the new contender for the mountain territory that just wiped out the last boss of this zone.
The new lord of this zone roars out in victory scaring the scales off the other dragon type Champions and Rookies who call this place home. He finishes his roar of and looks to the main path leading through his new territory and readies himself and his (hesitant) new minions for any travelers coming through.
