Ashleigh and George decided to stay at the Burrow for the remainder of the holiday, until New Year's. They decided to sleep on the pull-out couch in the living room, since that's where the cribs were set up.
"No funny business", Molly said; staring at them as everyone went to bed.
"Mum!" George exclaimed. Ashleigh laughed and shook her head as she finished making up the sofa bed.
"Well there are other people staying here and we don't need to be hearing or walking in on that", Molly told him.
"Mum!" He exclaimed again, his face turning red. Everyone that was in earshot burst into fits of laughter, including Ashleigh.
"Awe, little Georgie is embarrassed", Fred said, walking into the living room.
"You would be too", George rounded on his twin.
"The difference is, Hermione and I aren't sleeping in the same bed", Fred told him.
"You're in the room by yourself, I betcha anything she's gonna sneak in there", George said.
"Who says we even do that?" Fred rebutted.
"All those times you two have forgotten to put a silencing charm on your room", George told him, Ashleigh nodded, standing behind George. Hermione and Fred blushed. "Your turn to be embarrassed".
"That's it", Fred said and tackled George, landing on the sofa bed. Unfortunately, they didn't notice that they took Ashleigh down with them and she was underneath both men while they fought.
"Guys!" Hermione yelled. By this point the twins were woken up, so Molly took them out of the room while the others broke up the fight. "You're gonna kill Ashleigh!" Hermione finally yelled, causing them both to stop.
"What?" They both asked.
"You guys landed on top of Ashleigh! You idiots, get up!" Hermione yelled at them. They both scrambled up and sure enough, Ashleigh was lying where they were just fighting. "How could you not notice there was another person underneath you?" Hermione asked as she ran to Ashleigh's aid. Ashleigh was unconscious and Hermione couldn't tell if she was breathing. She had two black eyes, a bloody nose, which looked broken and a swollen lip. "Ashleigh, can you hear me?" She grumbled, which told them that she was still breathing. She finally came to ten minutes later.
"What happened?" She asked.
"You were the twins' landing cushion", Hermione told her, glaring at the twins.
"I'm sorry Ashleigh, are you okay?" George asked, trying to help her.
"Get away from me", Ashleigh warned him. Hermione helped her up and into the kitchen to clean up.
"Oh my word", Molly said at the site of Ashleigh, coming to help her since she put the babies in their seats.
"Why is it always me?" She mumbled.
"Always you?" Molly asked.
"Yeah. Bad things always seem to happen to me. It doesn't matter what I do or how I feel, it's always me", Ashleigh told them as Hermione got a cloth to wipe the blood away.
"This might hurt, but your nose is broken. Hold still", Hermione told her. "Episkey", she said, pointing her wand at Ashleigh's nose. They heard it snap back into place and she let out a loud scream, which caused everyone to come into the kitchen.
"Everyone out", Molly told them. "Especially you two", she added, pointing at the twins.
"My chest hurts", Ashleigh told them.
"I'm sorry but you're gonna have to lift up your shirt so we can look", Molly told her. She nodded and lifted her shirt.
"Oh no", Hermione mumbled. "I think you've got broken ribs", Hermione told her as she saw how bruised her ribcage was. "I think it's off to St. Mungos", Hermione added. "Molly, can you watch the twins?" Molly nodded and Hermione apparated them to the hospital. They took her in right away to examine her.
"Where did they go?" George asked as he came back into the kitchen after hearing the crack of disapparation.
"St. Mungo's", Molly told them.
"Why?" George asked, worried.
"Hermione thinks she has some broken ribs. You broke her nose, two black eyes, swollen lip and now her ribs. You two are a menace. I can't believe you did that", Molly said.
"I only meant to tackle George mum", Fred told her.
"Yes, but if you had your eyes open properly, you would've seen that she was standing behind him", Molly scolded.
"I think my engagement is over before it really even started", George mumbled, upset with himself.
"Well, it's more Fred's fault than yours", Ginny told him.
"Yeah, but I continued the fight instead of stopping until Hermione said we were gonna kill her", George told her. He left the room and went upstairs to his old room, Fred following.
A couple hours later, Ashleigh and Hermione returned.
"So what's the verdict?" Molly asked.
"All of my ribs were broken, they gave me a potion to fix them, but it can take a couple days for the pain to go away. Luckily they didn't re-puncture my lung, as for all the bruising, I'm stuck with it until it heals naturally", Ashleigh told her, sitting on the sofa bed. "Thanks for watching the babies".
"You're welcome dear. You should know, they feel terrible, but especially George. I understand if you're mad, just don't let it ruin your relationship, you've been through too much for it to end like this", Molly said. She kissed Ashleigh's forehead and went upstairs.
"Are you gonna be okay down here or do you want me to stay with you?" Hermione asked.
"It doesn't matter, it's up to you", Ashleigh said as she laid down.
"I'll stay then. Let them stay up there alone and think about what they did", Hermione told her.
"Okay, thanks", Ashleigh mumbled, lying down. They both fell asleep rather quickly.
Ashleigh didn't know how long she had been asleep for, but she jolted awake. The babies' weren't crying but she felt as though someone was watching her. She sat up quickly, which was a bad idea. She winced and groaned at the pain and then saw movement in front of her.
"Are you okay?" The figure asked, sitting on the edge of the bed.
"Who's there?" She asked groggily before realizing. "George?" She asked.
"Yes", was all he said. "I'm really sorry. I didn't know you were standing right behind me when Fred tackled me. I should have been paying more attention. I'm sorry", he told her.
"George, we have two children now. You sure as hell can't be like that with them when they get older. You need to be more cautious", Ashleigh told him.
"I know. I'm sorry", he said again.
"I'll be okay. Just a lot of pain, a swollen lip and two massive black eyes that will be there for a while. The back of your head hit me in the face twice, which is the last thing I remember because the second one knocked me out. But someone, I'm guessing Fred, kneed me in the ribs".
"I'll be more cautious from now on. Trust me. It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt. And this was my wake-up call", George told her.
"Good", Ashleigh smiled slightly. "Hermione is sleeping with me tonight, so you're gonna have to bunk with Fred", she told him.
"Alright. Night love", he said, he leaned in for a kiss but she backed up.
"My lip", she told him.
"Right, sorry", he said and opted to kiss her forehead instead.
"Night", she called after him.
