Chapter 14: Sonic Rainboom
In a field, Rainbow Dash is giving Fluttershy a lesson with cheering with (Y/N) helping her out as well.
Rainbow Dash: Now, what have we learned?
Fluttershy: Lots of control.
Rainbow Dash: Good.
Fluttershy: Screaming and hollering.
Rainbow Dash: Yes and most importantly?
Fluttershy: Passion!
(Y/N): Alright then Fluttershy, give us a big cheer!
Fluttershy then takes a deep breath in. . . and she cheered in a really soft tone.
Fluttershy: Yay.
Rainbow Dash: Ugh. You're gonna cheer for me like that? Louder.
(Y/N): Come on, Dash she's trying. Try it again Fluttershy.
Fluttershy: Yay.
Rainbow Dash: Louder!
This made Fluttershy flinch as she decides to try once again.
Fluttershy: Yay.
Rainbow Dash: Louder!
Fluttershy then takes a huge deep breath in and then. . .
Fluttershy: Yaaay.
It was still in the same soft tone that she did before.
Rainbow Dash facehooved and fell backwards while (Y/N) just nervously chuckles.
Fluttershy: Too loud?
(Y/N) then walks up to Fluttershy and puts a hoof around her.
(Y/N): Don't worry Fluttershy. You may not be the most enthusiastic pony we know, but you'll definitely get the cheer that Dash wants soon.
Fluttershy blushes at that and smiles at (Y/N)'s motivation.
Rainbow Dash: *sighs* Whatever.
Rainbow Dash then flies back up into the air.
Rainbow Dash: I'm going to go start practicing my stunts, and (Y/N), keep teaching Fluttershy how to get a proper cheer going.
(Y/N): You got it. Now Fluttershy, when you cheer, you've got to give some confidence inside your voice okay?
Fluttershy gulps and nods at that.
(Y/N): Here, let's try together as Rainbow Dash is practicing her stunts.
Rainbow Dash flies onto a cloud to get ready as both (Y/N) and Fluttershy look at her from below.
Fluttershy: Yay.
(Y/N): Go Dash!
Rainbow Dash takes a deep breath and then jumps off of the cloud like a diving board and takes off flying with confidence in her eyes.
Rainbow Dash: And now, phase one of my routine.
Rainbow Dash then maneuvers herself in a zig-zag pace past a few trees and zooms past (Y/N) and Fluttershy as they were cheering her on.
Fluttershy: Wooo.
(Y/N): Nice! Keep it up!
Rainbow Dash: Phase two.
Rainbow Dash then flies in a circular motion around a few clouds to make them spin like globes and both Fluttershy and (Y/N) got dizzy a little from looking at that before regaining their composure to look at her and cheer for her once again.
Fluttershy: Way to go.
(Y/N): Bring it home, Dash!
Rainbow Dash: Here we go. Phase three. The Sonic Rainboom.
Rainbow Dash then flies up into the air and did a few loops before flying straight towards Fluttershy and (Y/N). She was significantly gaining speed and she continued to fly downwards. Fluttershy could only gaze in suspense and (Y/N) had a huge smile to see Rainbow Dash finish her performance with a Sonic Rainboom. Tears formed in Rainbow Dash's eyes as she continues to attempt to break the sound barrier with her speed. She had almost made it, but suddenly the sound barrier won and threw Rainbow Dash in the opposite direction. As Rainbow Dash screamed, Fluttershy placed a hoof on her mouth.
Fluttershy: Oh dear. Will she be okay?
(Y/N) then glowed his horn to try and sense where Rainbow Dash is headed and he could tell where she was going to end up.
(Y/N): Don't worry. She'll be fine. And I also think it's about time we meet up with our friends.
(Y/N) then teleported both of them to where Rainbow Dash was flying off to.
While Rainbow Dash was practicing her stunts with Fluttershy and (Y/N), the rest of the Mane 7 were helping Twilight clean up the library which was a mess thanks to Twilight who was studying non-stop for a week. Twilight sighs as they all just finish up putting the last book on the shelf.
Twilight Sparkle: Last one. Thank you so much for helping me clean up all these books, guys. It was a crazy week of studying.
(Y/N) then teleported into the library along with Fluttershy.
Twilight Sparkle: Oh, (Y/N). Fluttershy. What a surprise. If you two came to help me clean up the library, you're a little late for that.
(Y/N): Actually, I'm in here for a different reason Twilight.
Twilight Sparkle: Huh, what is it?
A scream was then heard as (Y/N) flies up at the window and holds his hooves out to catch Rainbow Dash as she crashes into him and onto a bookshelf as only a few books came off of the shelf. Everypony gasped at what just happened.
Rainbow Dash: Hehe. Sorry about that ladies.
Rainbow Dash then heard muffled yells as she looked below and she blushes to see that she was sitting on (Y/N)'s face. She quickly flew off of him as he regained his breath.
(Y/N): *deep inhale* You really need to work on that last one, Dash.
Rainbow Dash: *nervous chuckle* Sorry about that (Y/N).
(Y/N): Don't worry, I'm fine.
Twilight Sparkle: So what were you three up to that made Rainbow Dash fly into here?
Rainbow Dash: We've been practicing my stunts and to be honest, "that" was a feeble performance.
Fluttershy: Actually, it wasn't all bad. I particularly liked it when you made the clouds spin.
Rainbow Dash: Ugh. I'm not talking about my performance, I'm talking about yours. That feeble cheering!
(Y/N): Don't be so hard on her Dash. She's at least trying to get better. Aren't you, Fluttershy?
Fluttershy: Yes I am.
Rainbow Dash: Well, I guess since we're here, I might as well tell you all this. I really wish you guys could come to Cloudsdale to see me compete in the Best Young Flyer Competition.
Twilight Sparkle: What's that?
Pinkie Pie: It's where all the greatest Pegasus flyers get together and show off their different flying styles! Some are fast!
Pinkie then ran around the library making car sounds before stopping.
Pinkie Pie: And some are graceful.
Pinkie then did a little ballerina twirl.
Applejack: Golly. I'd love to see you strut yer stuff in that competition.
Rainbow Dash: Yeah. I wish you guys could be there. Fluttershy's a great support, but her cheering isn't exactly inspirational while (Y/N) does a way better job at it.
Fluttershy felt a little down at that statement, but (Y/N) pats her on the back a little to make her feel better.
Pinkie Pie: Ooh! I'd love to see you make a sonic rainboom! It's like, the most coolest thing ever! Even though I've never actually seen it, but I mean come on! It's a sonic rainboom! How not cool could it possibly not be?!
Twilight Sparkle: What's a sonic rainboom?
Pinkie Pie: You really need to get out more. The sonic rainboom is legendary! When a Pegasus like Rainbow Dash gets going sooo fast. . . Boom! A sonic boom and a rainbow can happen all at once!
Applejack: And Rainbow Dash here's the only pony to ever pull it off!
(Y/N): I'm actually quite curious to see it myself.
Rainbow Dash: It was a long time ago. . . I was just a filly.
Pinkie Pie: Yeah, but you're gonna do it again, right?
Rainbow Dash hesitated for a moment at that.
Rainbow Dash: Are. . . you kidding? I'm the greatest flyer to ever come out of Cloudsdale! I could do sonic rainbooms in my sleep.
Twilight Sparkle: Wow. If you pull that off, you'll win the crown for sure!
Rainbow Dash: The grand prize is an entire day with the Wonderbolts. A whole day of flying with my lifelong heroes. . . It'll be a dream come true!
Fluttershy: Yay.
Rainbow Dash: I'm gonna go rest up. Don't wanna over prepare myself, y'know. Hehe.
Rainbow Dash then turns to Fluttershy.
Rainbow Dash: You, on the other hand, better keep practicing. I need a cheering section to match my spectacular performance.
Rainbow Dash then looks at (Y/N).
Rainbow Dash: Say (Y/N), will you come to Cloudsdale with me to support me. Your cheering on the other hand will definitely be a lot of help.
(Y/N): You kidding? Of course I will. Besides, I've never been up in Cloudsdale before so maybe you can give me a little tour.
Rainbow Dash: Sure thing (Y/N). I'll meet you there.
Rainbow Dash then flies out of the window as Fluttershy looks back at the group.
Fluttershy: She's practiced that move a hundred times, and she's never even come close to doing it. I don't know if I can cheer loud enough to help her.
(Y/N): Don't worry Fluttershy, you'll definitely get it eventually. Just keep practicing it like Rainbow Dash and said, and I'm sure you'll make her happy.
Fluttershy: Thank you (Y/N). I'll see you in Cloudsdale.
Fluttershy then flies out of the window as (Y/N) waves at her. He then turns back to the group and get's a conflicted look on his face.
(Y/N): This will definitely be a problem though since over half of us aren't Pegasi or Alicorns.
Rarity: Indeed, well Twilight go on.
Twilight Sparkle: Go on what?
Rarity: Find a spell that will get us wingless ponies into Cloudsdale. Didn't you see how nervous she was?
Applejack: Nervous? Have you spit yer bit or somethin'? She was tootin' her own horn louder than the brass section of a marching band!
Rarity: Oh, puh-lease. I have put on enough fashion shows to recognize stage fright when I see it. We've got to find a way to be there for her. Now go on!
Twilight Sparkle: Sounds like we need a flight spell, but which book was it again?
Pinkie Pie: I got it!
Pinkie pulls the book that Twilight needed out of nowhere and it's to her.
Pinkie Pie: Check out page twenty-seven.
Applejack: How'd you do that?
(Y/N) shakes his head slowly at Applejack.
(Y/N): I wouldn't question it.
Twilight Sparkle: Here it is! A spell that will allow Earth ponies to fly for three days.
She then gets a serious look on her face when looking at the spell.
Twilight Sparkle: It looks really difficult. . . I'm not sure I can do it.
Rarity: Well, (Y/N). Can you do it?
(Y/N) then takes a look at the spell that was in the book and had the same serious look that Twilight had.
(Y/N): Hmm. . . I don't know. I'm not as experienced with spells like these.
Rarity: You two have got to try though!
Twilight Sparkle: Okay. . . But who's gonna volunteer to be the test subject?
Rarity: I will! For Rainbow Dash, I will go first.
(Y/N): Well. . . here goes nothing.
Both Twilight and (Y/N) look at each other and nodded as they glowed their horns and pointed them at Rarity who stood bravely as the magic took her in it's ethereal embrace while both (Y/N) and Twilight grunted from the pressure they were feeling at the intensity of the spell. Finally, a spark of light ignited which created a pulse that knocked Twilight and (Y/N) away to the ground. When they all looked up they gasped happily at what they saw next.
Twilight Sparkle: I think it worked!
Rarity now has wings, but they weren't Pegasus wings, they were instead butterfly-like wings.
Rarity: It worked! I'm actually flying! Is there a mirror around? I would love to see my new wings!
Pinkie then zooms and reappears with a mirror in front of Rarity who gasped before smiling brightly.
Rarity: They're gorgeous!
Pinkie Pie: So pretty!
Applejack: And dandy!
Twilight Sparkle: And too much effort.
Everypony then turned to both (Y/N) and Twilight when she said that.
Twilight Sparkle: Listen everypony, I want to be there for Rainbow Dash as much as any of you but. . .
(Y/N): That spell was way too much for even both of us to handle so we can't put wings on all of you, we'll have to find a different alternative. Twilight is there another spell that can allow non-Pegasus ponies to walk on clouds in Cloudsdale.
Twilight then heard that last part and perked up at that.
Twilight Sparkle: (Y/N), say that last part again.
(Y/N): "Walk on clouds in Cloudsdale?"
Twilight Sparkle: That's it! A cloud walking spell! We can use that spell to walk on the clouds in Cloudsdale.
(Y/N): That's great, but how are you all going to get there without flight?
Pinkie Pie: Oooh! Don't worry, we can use the hot air balloon I used for the Running of the Leaves awhile back.
(Y/N): Well then, you girls get prepared with that, I'm going to go and meet up with Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy and go with them to Cloudsdale.
Twilight Sparkle: Okay then, we'll see you there (Y/N).
(Y/N) then flies out of the library to meet up with the two Pegasi.
(Y/N) flew and arrived at Rainbow Dash's house and he saw both her and Fluttershy preparing to leave.
(Y/N): Hey girls.
Fluttershy: Hello (Y/N).
Rainbow Dash: So you ready to come and see what a cloud city is like?
(Y/N): Yep and there is something I should tell you, our friends are looking for a spell so that they can come to Cloudsdale to support you.
Rainbow Dash: Really? They are?
(Y/N): Yep, Twilight currently trying to figure one out, so well leave it her in order for all of them to figure out a way to get to Cloudsdale.
Rainbow Dash: That's great to hear. Anyways, (Y/N) follow me.
And with that, the three flew off out of Ponyville to Cloudsdale.
As they all flew into the sky, they eventually arrived at the mobile cloud city known as Cloudsdale.
Rainbow Dash: There it is, (Y/N). Cloudsdale, mine and Fluttershy's hometown.
(Y/N): Wow! Normally I would see clouds so large back on Earth, but this is just simply amazing. A real cloud city.
Fluttershy: It's always nice to come back here every once in awhile.
Rainbow Dash: Just wait till you land and see the city (Y/N).
Rainbow Dash then looks at Fluttershy.
Rainbow Dash: Also, you've got to learn to be assertive, Fluttershy. Don't be afraid to speak up.
Fluttershy: Okay, Rainbow Dash.
(Y/N): Don't worry Fluttershy. I believe that you can speak up for yourself.
Fluttershy smiled a little at that.
The three then land in Cloudsdale and looked around the area while some ponies were surprised to see (Y/N), the male alicorn and the Hero of Ponyville with their own eyes.
(Y/N): Wow! This is amazing! I'm actually on a large cloud that's actually a real life city.
Rainbow Dash: What's the sky like back on Earth, (Y/N)?
(Y/N): Nothing compared to this. Clouds would just zoom by everyday and some are small and some are large. Nothing could live on a cloud like this back on Earth.
Fluttershy: So nopony moves the clouds in the sky on Earth?
(Y/N): Nope, they just move on their own.
?: Well, well, well. What do we have here?
A voice was heard as three Pegasus stallions land in front of (Y/N), Rainbow Dash, and Fluttershy. The first Pegasus stallion is named Dumb-Bell and he has a dark grayish brown coat, a light amberish gray mane and tail, moderate azure eyes and his Cutie Mark is a dumbbell with six weights. The second Pegasus is named Hoops and he has a light gamboge coat, a grayish tangelo mane and tail and a Cutie Mark which is three basketballs. The third Pegasus stallion is named Score and he has a Persian bluish gray coat, reddish brownish gray mane and tail and his Cutie Mark is Three American footballs.
Hoops: It's our old friend Rainbow Crash!
Dumb-Bell: Get kicked outta any flight schools lately?
The three of them then laugh at that taunt.
Rainbow Dash: I didn't get kicked out.
Dumb-Bell: Face it, Rainbow Crash. Flight school had too many rules, and not enough naptimes for you.
Hoops: Huh, ask her about the sonic rainboom.
Dumb-Bell: That's nothing but an old mare's tale. You don't have the skills to try something like that.
Fluttershy: Now wait just a minute!
The boy bullies then gave their attention to Fluttershy.
Fluttershy: Oh, I'm sorry. I'm trying to be more assertive. Anyhow. . . She is going to do a sonic rainboom!
Dumb-Bell: No she's not, 'cause there's no such thing!
(Y/N): Actually, if were talking Rainbow Dash here, there is a such thing as a sonic rainboom. It takes extreme skill and practice to pull off.
The Boy Bullies then looked at (Y/N) and laughed at him.
Dumb-Bell: And who is this new loser that you have with you?
(Y/N) smirked at that.
(Y/N): Pop quiz hotshot, the loser you just called is an alicorn stallion that's fought Nightmare Moon and is known to be the Hero of Ponyville. What do you say to that?
The three boys then noticed that (Y/N) is an alicorn which made them go wide eyed for a second, but they regained their composure to try and retort to that.
Score: I would say what makes you so cool? Other than being an alicorn.
(Y/N): I don't need to be cool to impress others and talk down to others just to make myself look better, unlike you three who pick on my friends for no reason. Maybe you three are actually bullying just to compensate for something really small.
The three boy bullies jaw dropped at that as Rainbow Dash laughed and Fluttershy giggled quietly.
(Y/N): What's the matter? Cat got your tongue? I can't hear your answer with your mouths hanging down like that?
The boys didn't know how to respond to that as they growled and walked away. However,
Dumb-Bell turns back to face the group one more time.
Dumb-Bell: We'll be at the Cloudiseum to see your sonic rainboom. That is if you can do it, Rainbow Crash.
After the boy bullies left, Rainbow Dash turned to (Y/N) with an impressed smile on her face.
Rainbow Dash: That was great (Y/N)! You totally messed with their feathers.
(Y/N): Hey, if there's one thing that I hate, it's my friends getting picked on. Also great job on being assertive Fluttershy, you were great as well.
Fluttershy blushed a little at that compliment with a smile before shaking it away.
Rainbow Dash then had a conflicted look on her face.
Rainbow Dash: (Y/N). . . do you really think I can do a sonic rainboom?
(Y/N) then turned to Rainbow Dash confused.
(Y/N): Of course, Dash. Why wouldn't I? I know you can do it.
Rainbow Dash: Well. . . I'm starting to feel like I can't do it.
Fluttershy: But Rainbow Dash, just because you've failed the sonic rainboom a hundred thousand times in practice doesn't mean you won't be able to do it in front of an entire stadium, full of impatient, supercritical sports fan ponies.
(Y/N) caught on to what Fluttershy just said as he facehooved and Rainbow Dash started panicking.
Rainbow Dash: Aaaaaah! What do I do?! Everypony's gonna see me fail! The Wonderbolts will never let a loser like me join. Princess Celestia will probably banish me to the Everfree Forest! My life is ruined!
(Y/N): Rainbow Dash! Get a grip and pull it together!
(Y/N) grabbed Rainbow Dash by the shoulders and shook her a bit to stop and he gave her an extremely serious look.
(Y/N): Nopony like you on my watch is going to fail! This is my friend Rainbow Dash I'm talking about here! She's the most competitive and awesome flyer in Equestria! If anything she's more than capable of performing a sonic rainboom! I'm not letting you doubt yourself like this, do you understand me?!
Rainbow Dash looked at (Y/N) straight in the eyes and could see the extreme seriousness he had as she took a couple of deep breaths and got the same serious look he did as she flew a little in the air.
Rainbow Dash: Yeah, your right (Y/N). I can do this!
(Y/N): That's the spirit!
Fluttershy: Rare. . .
Rainbow Dash: Rare? What's rare?
Fluttershy: Rarity?
Fluttershy pointed behind Rainbow Dash and she looked to see Rarity with her beautiful wings and she jaw dropped.
Rainbow Dash: Rarity?! Are you flying?!
Rarity: I most certainly am! Aren't my wings smashing?! Twilight made them for me. I just adore them! Why so shocked? We couldn't leave our favorite flyer without a big cheering section!
Rainbow Dash: We? Wait you mean. . .
The rest of the Mane 7 then appeared in a hot air balloon which surprised Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy before they both smile.
Rainbow Dash: I can't believe it!
Fluttershy: It's incredible!
Rainbow Dash: This is so cool! You guys made it!
(Y/N): See, I told you they were coming.
Pinkie Pie: Sure did!
Pinkie then jumped out of the hot air balloon which worried Rainbow Dash as she thought Pinkie was going to fall through the clouds.
Rainbow Dash: Wait!
However, Pinkie instead landed on the cloud and was able to walk on them like any Pegasus pony while the other mares in the hot air balloon got out and was able to stand on the clouds while Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy were surprised to see this.
Rainbow Dash: How'd you do that? Only Pegasus ponies can walk on clouds.
Pinkie Pie: Haha. Pretty cool, huh?
Twilight Sparkle: (Y/N) and I found a spell that makes temporary wings, but it was too difficult to do more than once. So I found an easier spell that lets the rest of us walk on clouds.
Applejack: And we came to cheer ya to victory!
Rainbow Dash: To be honest, I was starting to get just the teeniest, tiniest bit nervous. But I feel a lot better now thanks to (Y/N) and now that you guys are here. Hey, we've got some time before the competition. Why don't Fluttershy and I show you around Cloudsdale?
Everypony cheered and agreed to this idea.
The Mane 7 are now walking across the clouds in Cloudsdale and checking out the cloud city.
Rainbow Dash: Here it is: the greatest city in the sky!
Everypony marveled in the wonder as they look around Cloudsdale which was made up of entire collections of various large clouds that had buildings on it. However, Rarity was too busy admiring her own reflection in a store window which (Y/N) and Rainbow Dash noticed.
Rainbow Dash: Uhh. . . Some of the greatest Pegasi in history came from Cloudsdale!
Rarity was so busy admiring herself in the mirror that she didn't notice that her friends continued walking off until a few seconds later.
Rarity: Oh, wait for me.
As Rarity goes to catch up with her friends, three construction Pegasus stallions who are working on a cloud suddenly stopped what they were doing and looked at Rarity in awe while one of the workers who was holding a jackhammer let go of it and it fell off the cloud and down to the ground below.
Steam Roller: Those wings are gorgeous!
Rarity: Why thank you!
Twilight Sparkle: Be careful with those wings, Rarity. They're made from gossamer and morning dew, and they're incredibly delicate.
Rarity: Don't worry, Twilight. I'm sure they can't get worn out from too much attention.
Applejack: Since we're up here, I'd sure like to get a look at where the weather's made.
Rainbow Dash: Great idea! C'mon everypony. To the weather factory!
The Mane 7 arrived at Cloudsdale's Weather Factory and were allowed to look around and they all wore white work shirts with a matching hard hat for safety protocols.
They all entered a warehouse of the factory where the workers are working on snowflakes.
Rainbow Dash: This is where they make the snowflakes. Each one is hoofmade. As you can see, it's a delicate operation.
Rarity: *gasps* Ooh, the snowflakes look even better from up here.
However, Rarity's wings caused a powerful wind to go through the warehouse and making all the snowflakes fly around which makes all the workers scramble to catch them.
Rainbow Dash: We better move on before Rarity ruins winter and causes a drought.
The Mane 7 minus Rarity then arrive at the rainbow part of the factory to see the rainbow pools which are being mixed by some Pegasus workers.
Rainbow Dash: And here's where they make the rainbows!
(Y/N): Is this where you also got your mane dyed into a rainbow?
A few of the mares chuckle at (Y/N)'s joke while Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes and smirked.
Rainbow Dash: Oh, ha ha. For your information, my mane and tail isn't dyed, it's one hundred percent natural and twenty percent cooler that way.
Pinkie then got a little curious with a rainbow pool and she sticks her hoof in it and takes it out with some rainbow liquid on it which she licks and then she suddenly reacts as her face goes different colors from blue to green to red and lastly to yellow before her face turns back to normal.
Pinkie Pie: *pants* Spicyyyy!
This causes (Y/N) to get curious from the rainbow liquid as well.
(Y/N): There's no way it's that bad.
(Y/N) then sticks his hoof in the rainbow pool as well and licked it off. . . and the same thing happened to him with his face going through different colors of the rainbow before his face turns back to normal and he fans his tongue.
(Y/N): HOT! I think I may need some water now!
The rest of the girls laughed at (Y/N)'s reaction.
Rainbow Dash: Yeah, rainbows aren't really known for their flavor.
?: Whoa!
Everypony heard and looked to see Rarity flying around while being admired by the boy bullies from earlier who were interested in her wings.
(Y/N): Oh, not these jerks again.
Twilight Sparkle: You know those guys?
Rainbow Dash: Those guys. . . are Dumb-Bell, Hoops, and Score. Three jerks from mine and Fluttershy's childhoods that love to pick on people who aren't on their level. We kinda ran into them early before you guys came along.
Dumb-Bell: Where'd you get those amazing wings? I want a pair.
Rarity: Hmm. . . yeah, I guess I could see that.
The boy bullies then noticed Rainbow Dash again.
Dumb-Bell: Oh hey look, it's Rainbow Crash again.
Hoops: Hehehe. Yeah! Rainbow. . . Umm. . . Eyah. . . Crash!
Rainbow Dash: Rarity! What are you doing talking to these guys?
Rarity: Oh they were just admiring my wings Rainbow Dash.
Dumb-Bell: Yeah, you should forget the sonic rainboom and just get yourself some wings like these!
(Y/N) then steps in to defend Rainbow Dash as he had a not so happy look on his face.
(Y/N): For your information pal, Rainbow Dash already has wings and she can use those legendary wings to make tons of sonic rainbooms.
Dumb-Bell: Oh, please. You believe in that lame sonic rainboom stuff as well? Get real, she can never do a sonic rainboom. You're as lame as she is.
(Y/N): I'd like to hear you say that to my face!
(Y/N) said this as his eyes glowed (F/C) a little as the boy bullies notice with slightly scared looks and they didn't want to know what (Y/N) could do as an alicorn so they walked off and Rainbow Dash looked down.
Fluttershy: Uhh. . . C'mon, everypony. Why don't we go see how clouds are made?
Fluttershy then goes up to Rainbow Dash to reassure her.
Fluttershy: Don't listen to them. You're gonna win that competition for sure!
However, Rainbow Dash was not motivated by this.
Rainbow Dash: Are you kidding? I can't do the sonic rainboom, and just look at these boring, plain old feathered wings. I'm doomed!
(Y/N): Rainbow, don't listen to those jerks. I definitely believe that you make a sonic rainboom. You have the skill to do it.
Rainbow Dash: Thanks. . . I guess.
As Rainbow Dash followed the other girls, (Y/N) and Fluttershy looked at each other with worried looks for Rainbow Dash.
The Mane 7 came to the warehouse where clouds are being made in cloud-making machines with giant purple funnels pumping out clouds of all types while the workers were making sure there were no blockages while adding some water to the machines to be vaporized and condensed into clouds.
Things were looking fine until some workers stopped what they were doing and went to admire Rarity and her wings.
Rarity: What, these old things? Go ahead, everypony. Photos are encouraged.
The rest of the Mane 7 frowned at Rarity's boasting as Rainbow Dash was feeling a bit down and both (Y/N) and Twilight approached her.
(Y/N): Rarity! Stop showing off those ridiculous wings already! Your not helping!
Twilight Sparkle: Exactly, we're supposed to be helping Rainbow Dash relax, remember? Put your wings away and stop showing off!
Rarity: Oh, pfft. How can you ask me to put away perfection?
Rarity then fluttered her wings towards the sun, casting a myriad display of colors as the sunlight shined through her wings.
The workers all awed at the tiny little performance while (Y/N) sees Rainbow Dash kneeling and looking super nervous.
(Y/N): You okay Rainbow Dash? You don't look so good.
Rainbow Dash: *pants* Of course! Why wouldn't I be okay? Everyone's so in love with Rarity's wings that they won't even notice when I totally blow it in the Best Young Flyer's Competition.
Rainbowshine: Hey! There's an idea! YOU should enter the competition!
Foggy Fleece: Yeah! I could watch you fly all day long!
Rarity: There really isn't anypony who uses their wings quite like me. Perhaps I should compete.
Rainbow Dash: WHAT?!
The workers followed Rarity as they continue to admire the fashionista while the rest of the Mane 7 approach Rainbow Dash.
Rainbow Dash: What am I gonna DO?! I'll never win the competition now. . .
(Y/N) could feel Rainbow Dash's pain as he back and forth between her and Rarity and he soon got a determined look and talked to Twilight.
(Y/N): I'm going to and try to divert Rarity from boasting about those stupid wings. I'll be right back.
Twilight Sparkle: Okay, do you want me to come with you?
(Y/N): Don't worry I'll be fine on my own. I just want Rainbow Dash to stay positive and prepared.
Twilight nods as (Y/N) flies off after the crowd that was following Rarity.
(Y/N) looked around to find Rarity which wasn't too hard as he saw a large crowd around her admiring her wings and the crowd looked to have gotten a little bigger which (Y/N) rolls his eyes at and he flies up to Rarity.
(Y/N): Rarity, can we chat for a second?
Rarity: Oh, well of course (Y/N).
Rarity then shooed away the crowd.
Rarity: Go on now. There will be plenty of pictures for you to take of my fantastic performance at the competition.
The crowds then leaves until it was just (Y/N) and Rarity together.
Rarity: So what is it (Y/N)? Have you come to admire my wings as well?
(Y/N) facehooves and shakes his head slowly at that.
(Y/N): Ugh! Yes and no. Look Rarity, I know they're really amazing wings and would agree that they do look beautiful on you.
Rarity: Why thank you, (Y/N). They will look even more beautiful at my performance in the competition.
(Y/N): That's the thing though. Don't compete.
Rarity got a confused look at that.
Rarity: Why do say that darling?
(Y/N): Have you not noticed that Rainbow Dash has been losing confidence ever since you've been showing those wings?
Rarity: Oh, I'm sure she's just a tad bit tired darling.
(Y/N): No she's not. She's been so stressed out that she thinks she can't even do any of her own tricks. And another thing, those wings are temporary and fragile remember? If those things come off during the competition, who knows what would happen to you? We didn't even give you a cloud walking spell.
Rarity: Oh please (Y/N). Thank you for being worried about me, but I will be fine and with these wings that are so beautiful, I am destined to win with such grace.
(Y/N): But Rarity you can't-
Rarity: Sorry (Y/N), but if you must excuse me, I must prepare for my performance in the competition. Wish me luck.
Rarity then flies off leaving a conflicted (Y/N).
(Y/N): *sigh* Rarity is in denial. I have to help Rainbow Dash somehow.
Later on, (Y/N) was flying towards the Cloudeseum where the Best Young Flyer's Competition is going to happen soon and everypony is gathering there to witness the competition.
(Y/N) entered the Cloudeseum and looked around for Rainbow Dash and went to the are where all the competitors are waiting and (Y/N) eventually found Rainbow Dash hiding behind a pillar and she is shaking like a leaf.
(Y/N): Dash.
Rainbow Dash heard (Y/N)'s voice as she turns to face him.
Rainbow Dash: Oh. . . hey (Y/N).
(Y/N): Do you still think that do can't do it?
Rainbow Dash: No, I know that I can't do it.
(Y/N) was surprised to hear that and he shakes his head vigorously.
(Y/N): What? No! You can definitely do Rainbow. You said it yourself, you're the best flyer in all of Equestria.
Rainbow Dash: I can't (Y/N)! I just can't! I can't do a sonic rainboom! I don't know if I even did it in the first place.
Rainbow Dash was so worried that she looked down to hide her tears and (Y/N) definitely didn't want to see Rainbow Dash cry so he went up to her and makes her look at him.
(Y/N): Rainbow Dash, listen to me! If you could never do a sonic rainboom, I wouldn't even be here right now with you! I wouldn't even be supporting you right now, but you know why I am?! Because you said it yourself that you did the sonic rainboom as a filly and you said that you wanted me to support you in all of this, so that's what I'm going to do! You are one the bestest friends I've ever had in my life Rainbow Dash, and I'm here to give you all of the support that you want! You are not Rainbow Crash, you are Rainbow Dash! The Pegasus I definitely know is the fastest and most awesomest flyer in Equestria!
Rainbow Dash was surprised to hear all of that as she sniffed and wiped her face to keep herself from crying.
Rainbow Dash: You think so?
(Y/N): I know so! So go out there and show all of us what Rainbow Dash is made of!
Rainbow Dash then no longer had a sad look on her face as that face instantly turned into one of extreme confidence.
Rainbow Dash: Yeah, you're right! I can do this! I know I can do this!
(Y/N): That's the Rainbow Dash we all know and love.
Rainbow Dash blushes at that and she walks up to (Y/N).
Rainbow Dash: (Y/N). . .
(Y/N): Yeah?
Rainbow Dash then did something completely unexpected to (Y/N) and she gives him a kiss on the cheek which makes him give her a surprised look while blushing.
Rainbow Dash: There, that's for motivating me. See ya!
Rainbow Dash then rushes off to get ready while (Y/N) just smiles that he was able to get Rainbow Dash back to her normal confident self.
(Y/N) flies into the Cloudeseum and found his friends sitting on a cloud together like everypony else as they wait for the competition to begin and he sees Pinkie with a huge number one foam finger on her left hoof so he flies down to sit alongside them.
(Y/N): Hey everypony, I'm here.
Applejack: So did Rarity get out her ego?
(Y/N): *sighs* Nope. However, I did meet Rainbow Dash and she was really nervous so I gave her some words of encouragement.
Twilight Sparkle: That's good to hear.
Fluttershy: Um (Y/N), do you think both Rainbow Dash and Rarity will be alright?
(Y/N): We can only hope for the best.
(Y/N) then hears laughter and he looks below to see the boy bullies which made him frown.
(Y/N): Oh, give me a break.
(Y/N) felt really annoyed by the boy bullies until Fluttershy put a hoof on his shoulder.
Fluttershy: It's okay (Y/N). We should just ignore them for now.
(Y/N) nods at that as the announcer of the competition whose name is Madden appeared to gain everypony's attention.
Madden: Fillies and gentlecolts! Please rise and join me in welcoming our beloved Princess Celestia!
Princess Celestia then appears from the sky with two royal guards and she landed on a special cloud reserved for her. She then waves to the crowd as they cheer for her before she notices (Y/N) with the rest of his friends and she waves to him and he winks back at the princess which she notices and giggles with a slight blush on her face.
Madden: Please welcome our celebrity judges for the Best Young Flyer Competition: the Wonderbolts!
A group of six Wonderbolt ponies flew and did a few tricks and finished off with a firework which everypony cheered to before three of the Wonderbolts land on a cloud to watch the competition.
Madden: And now, let's find out who will take the prize as this year's best young flyer!
The Best Young Flyer's Competition went on with several Pegasus competitors performing their own stunts and talents which some of the Mane 6 admired.
Twilight Sparkle: I loved number seven. Doing fifteen barrel rolls in a row can't be easy.
Fluttershy: My favorite is number ten. She just looked like such a nice pony.
Applejack: Hmm. . . Wonder how come we haven't seen Rainbow Dash or Rarity yet. The competition's almost over.
(Y/N): Beats me, maybe they decided to go last.
Madden: And now, our final competitor for the day, contestant number fifteen!
Rainbow Dash then finally appears with a confident look on her face which made (Y/N) smile.
Madden: And apparently contestant number four. . .
Rarity then appears wearing a dress of sorts and some makeup which made (Y/N) facehoof.
(Y/N): (Thoughts) *sarcastically* Of course she would wear something like that, why not?
Rarity: Good luck, Rainbow Dash. Just do your best. I hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty of changing our music. That "rock and roll" doesn't really match my wings.
Rainbow Dash got a confused look at that.
Rainbow Dash: Wait what?
Classical music begins to play and Rarity starts her performance by doing some ballerina moves while Rainbow Dash takes a deep breath.
Rainbow Dash: C'mon, Rainbow Dash. You can do this. (Y/N) believes in you so you can't let him down. Just remember the routine.
Rainbow Dash then looked at a line of clouds in front of her.
Rainbow Dash: Okay, phase one.
Rainbow Dash begins to maneuver through the line of clouds accurately like a rocket while Rarity did a ballerina twirl.
Rainbow Dash: Time for phase two.
Rainbow Dash then shot upward towards a cloud and began to spin around the cloud, making the cloud spin as well and she does this to a few more clouds.
Fluttershy: Look! Phase two is working.
(Y/N): Come on Dash, bring it home with phase three.
Rarity finishes her little dance performance and get's ready for her final performance.
Rarity: And now for my grand finale. I will fly right up to the sun and beam my beautiful wings over the whole city of Cloudsdale! *gasps and squeals* They'll be talking about it for years!
Rarity then flies upward towards the sun which Rainbow Dash notices.
Rainbow Dash: Okay, you can do this Rainbow Dash. *deep breath* It's time for phase three. . . the sonic rainboom. Wings, don't fail me now!
Rarity arrived at the beam of the sun, panting, and sweating heavily.
Rarity: Look upon me Equestria for I am Rarity!
Rarity then spreads her wings out and the sun beamed through with colors, presenting many shiny shades to appear everywhere which made the crowd awe at her.
Then suddenly as she was posing, Rarity's temporary wings burned up and disintegrated, leaving her without wings!
Rarity opened her eyes and looked to see her wings are gone and she got a worried look and could only say one thing.
Rarity: Uh oh. . .
Rarity then began to plummet down at a rapid speed while screaming along the way and everypony was shocked and horrified by what is happening.
Twilight Sparkle: Oh no! Her wings evaporated into thin air!
The three Wonderbolts who are judging the competition quickly went into action and flew after Rarity to save her, but her flailing hooves knock them out cold.
Rainbow Dash who is flying upwards hears the screaming and looks back down to see Rarity falling and screaming with three Wonderbolts unconscious which shocks her, but she then got a serious look on her face as she flies down to save the falling ponies at a high speed.
Rainbow Dash: Hold on, Rarity! I'm coming!
Fluttershy covered her eyes with her hooves out of fear while (Y/N) had a determined look on his face.
Fluttershy: I can't look.
(Y/N): Come on! Come on! Come on! You can do it Dash!
Rainbow Dash flies down faster and faster and a cone started to form around her which narrowed to a sharper cone and then, within moments, she broke the sound barrier and made a loud sonic boom which erupted with a circle of rainbow colors while she was leaving a trail of a vibrant rainbow.
She did it. . . Rainbow Dash made a Sonic Rainboom!
Everypony back up in the Cloudeseum saw this and their eyes widen and jaw dropped while both (Y/N) and Fluttershy cheered loudly for Rainbow Dash.
(Y/N): SONIC RAINBOOM! RAINBOW DASH DID IT!
Fluttershy: A SONIC RAINBOOM! SHE DID IT! SHE DID IT! WOOO!
Rainbow Dash makes it in time to grab Rarity and the Wonderbolts before they hit the ground and flew back up with them and arched over the Cloudiseum, creating a rainbow overhead.
Rainbow Dash then came up from the bottom of the Cloudiseum and a few Pegasus ponies came to the aid by taking the Wonderbolts and Rarity from Rainbow Dash as she lands on the Cloudiseum.
The crowd went wild and cheered for Rainbow Dash as she looks to her friends cheering for her.
Fluttershy: A SONIC RAINBOOM! WOOO! YEAH!
Rainbow Dash then looked to Rarity with tears of joy in her eyes.
Rainbow Dash: I did it. I did it!
Rarity: You sure did. Oh thank you Rainbow Dash. You saved my life!
Rainbow Dash: Oh yeah. I did that too. Ha, BEST DAY EVER!
(Y/N) then flies to Rainbow Dash with a huge smile on his face.
(Y/N): You did it Dash! I knew all this time that you could do it!
Rainbow Dash: Yeah, you were right (Y/N).
Rainbow Dash then hugs (Y/N) which he returns.
Rainbow Dash: If it wasn't for you, I may not have had any confidence to even do the sonic rainboom. Thanks.
(Y/N): No problem Dash. You're one of my best friends and I care very much about you.
Rainbow Dash and (Y/N) break the hug as Rainbow Dash had a tiny blush on her face from that.
Rainbow Dash: (Thoughts) Wow! (Y/N)'s just so awesome! He makes my heart beat fast every time I around him! He's the best guy I've ever met!
A little later in the Cloudiseum, Rarity who is now back in her normal attire is sitting in the hot air balloon with her friends gathering around her.
Rarity: I want to apologize to all of you for getting so carried away with my. . . beautiful wings. I guess I just lost my head.
Everypony accepts her apology and she then turns to (Y/N).
Rarity: (Y/N), I'm sorry that I didn't listen to your warning. You were right about me that I shouldn't have been involved in the competition. Can you forgive me?
(Y/N): Of course Rarity. We all make mistakes and we all learn from them. I'm just glad that your okay.
Rarity smiles at that before turning to Rainbow Dash.
Rarity: And I'm especially sorry that I was so thoughtless as to jump into the contest at the last minute after you had worked so hard to win it. Can you ever ever forgive me?
Rainbow Dash: Aw, it's okay. Everything turned out all right, right? I just wish I could have met the Wonderbolts when they were awake.
(Y/N) then takes a look behind Rainbow Dash and smiles.
(Y/N): Then why don't you turn around?
Rainbow Dash then turns around to see the three Wonderbolts that she saved and she gasped.
Spitfire: So you're the little pony who saved our lives. We really wanted to meet you, and say thanks.
Rainbow Dash: Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh!
(Y/N) smirks and rolls his eyes at Rainbow Dash's fangirling.
Everypony then turns around to see Princess Celestia approach you all along with her royal guards.
Twilight Sparkle: Princess.
(Y/N): Hello Princess Celestia.
The Mane 7 all bow to Princess Celestia.
Princess Celestia: Hello Twilight Sparkle, hello (Y/N), and hello to your friends too.
Rarity: Princess Celestia, I am sorry I ruined the competition. Rainbow Dash here really is the best flyer in Equestria.
Princess Celestia: I know she is, my dear. That's why, for her incredible act of bravery and her spectacular sonic rainboom, I'm presenting the grand prize for Best Young Flyer to this year's winner, Miss Rainbow Dash!
Princess Celestia then places the winner's crown on Rainbow Dash's head as the crowd cheers while Rainbow Dash couldn't stop saying "oh my gosh" over and over again.
While Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and (Y/N) carried Rainbow Dash around, Princess Celestia approached Twilight and Rarity.
Princess Celestia: So Twilight Sparkle, did you learn anything about friendship from this experience?
Twilight Sparkle: I did Princess, but I think Rarity learned even more than me.
Rarity: I certainly did. I learned how important it is to keep your hooves on the ground, and be there for your friends.
Princess Celestia: Excellent. Well done Rarity.
Rainbow Dash: This really is the best day ever!
The boy bullies then approach Rainbow Dash with guilty looks on their faces.
Dumb-Bell: Hey, Rainbow Crash.
Hoops: Dash!
Dumb-Bell: Oh! Uhh. . . Sorry. Rainbow Dash. Uhh, we just wanted to congratulate you on winning the competition.
Hoops: That sonic rainboom was awesome!
Rainbow Dash: Heh, thanks guys.
Dumb-Bell: Uhh, we're really sorry we gave you such a hard time before.
Rainbow Dash: Aww, that's okay. Don't worry about it.
Dumb-Bell: Hey. Do you want to hang out with us? Maybe you could show us how you did that incredible trick!
Rainbow Dash: Sorry boys.
Rainbow Dash then flies up to two waiting Wonderbolt members.
Rainbow Dash: I've got plans.
(Y/N) looks up at Rainbow Dash with the Wonderbolts with a smile on his face.
(Y/N): (Thoughts) Rainbow Dash is, can, and will be the greatest flyer in Equestria. I'm sure of it.
