Summary/Disclaimer: Time for another chapter of When Dusk Falls. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Destiny, Bungie and Microsoft do.
(Nessus.)
Whether it was by luck or stupid timing, the House of Dusk was saved by the Vex, their presence caused the Red Legion to be pulled backwards to stem the tide.
Raksil watched as a Dusk Ketch approached and slowly landed. A hatch opened as Maksor and Taksor left the craft with Sam between them.
"Glad to see Gaul had a crappier time wiping you out." Sam said and dusted off his hands. "He almost killed me." Sam said as Raksil approached the Kell.
"We thought you were killed at the Last City, my Kell." Raksil stated as Sam shook his head.
"I'm not easy to kill, Raksil." Sam stated before looking over the Dregs, Vandals, and Captains of the house. "Where's the rest of the house? We need every soldier if we're going to fight against Gaul and his army." Sam stated before the Archon looked at the House of Dusk ruler.
"Many are returning from salvage operations." Raksil stated which made Sam hum and rub at his armored chin. "What is our next move?" Raksil asked before Sam hummed.
"We need to regroup." Sam said to the Archon. "We can't stand against Gaul and the Red Legion in scattered groups. His men will wipe us out one by one. We can't stay on Nessus for the time being. Gaul obviously knows this is one of the spots we regroup at another planet." Sam ordered before Makor and Tikor walked away with the Kell.
Raksil sighed. Their Kell made a good point about how Nessus was compromised. The Red Legion would send more troops if they stayed. The House of Dusk had hundreds of soldiers. But they were not a frontline army.
Raksil remembered exactly that the House of Dusk was meant to salvage the rest of their species.
"Should I ask where we go next?" Raksil questioned the Kell who hummed. "Our fleet is scattered across the system. We only have a few Ketches on Nessus. This was supposed to be a siege." Raksil stated to Sam.
"We find a planet the Red Legion haven't ripped apart and make camp there." Sam responded and frowned. "I'm well aware we can't risk open war, Raksil. Gaul's attack on the city crippled us and the rest of the guardians. Nobody has the numbers to fight his empire head on." Sam added as he cracked his neck.
"Then your suggesting we slowly raid the Red Legion and wear them down?" Raksil questioned and got a nod from the Kell.
"Titan is a planet I've barely heard anyone stake claim on." Sam stated and put his hands behind his back. "We're heading to Titan, Raksil. Round up every soldier you can find and tell them to regroup at the camp. We're leaving." Sam said before walking away.
Sam knew a mass exodus of Dusk Forces wouldn't go unnoticed. Part of him also knew Titan wouldn't just be abandoned. They needed to find shelter, though.
Sam boarded a Skiff with 2 Vandals and 4 Dregs along with a Captain. The Skiff took off towards Ravager which awaited it's Kell.
Sam's Skiff landed aboard Ravager's hanger. They had a measly 5 ships against a Cabal Armada. There had to be something to even the odds.
"Prepare the fleet for departure and tell any Skiffs that do not dock to follow us." Sam ordered the Captain that nodded. He stepped out as the Fallen pack rushed to ready the ship.
Sam pondered what he could do to save the city and the house. Gaul would choose to destroy the House of Dusk. It had more firepower and soldiers then the city did. Sam needed to lay low and rebuild the house.
But he also had a duty as a Guardian to protect civilization.
"How many soldiers are not on Nessus?" Sam asked one of the Vandals. The Dusk soldier looked at his Wire Rifle.
"A few dozen or so, my Kell." The Vandal reported before Sam sighed.
"Tell them to move to Titan rather than rejoin us." Sam ordered and walked towards the throne room. "We're salvage Titan for fuel, weapons, and supplies. Tell Raksil I will be in my throne room if anyone needs me." Sam stated before walking through the hanger doors.
Sam knew the Hive and Vex would take advantage of Gaul's attack. They had been scattered to the wind by Guardians who now showed their soft underbelly to the enemy.
Sam would not reveal the House of Dusk the same way. They were strong, but to wage open war on Gaul? It would shred the house down to pulp. It couldn't be risked.
Sam knew the Guardians and House of Dusk would have their revenge on Gaul.
Sam walked to the throne room which was guarded by 2 Shrapnel Launcher wielding Captains. A pack of Wretches held their Arc Spears at the ready.
Sam sat on his throne, surrounded by his men. And alone with his thoughts.
Author notes
Phew. Another chapter done! I want to point out that Sam's story will be different in the Red War and such. Next chapter will be in 8-10 weeks and will show Sam plotting his next move. It will also show the House of Dusk relocating to Titan which will serve as their headquarters. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
