ERIKA knelt in the tree line; her eyes narrowing at the gate outside the HYDRA facility. "There is no way of us getting past those guards without them notifying anyone we are here," Dum Dum explained as he handed the binoculars to Gabe.
"We need a distraction," Steve pointed out making a smirk form on Erika's face.
"I have an idea," she spoke causing everyone's heads turn to look at her.
In a blink of an eye, a wave of gold ran over Erika's body and suddenly, she was no longer there but a young blonde girl who looked no older than 5 stood in her place. "Christ on a cracker!" Dum Dum exclaimed as he jumped away from the disguised Erika.
She started laughing with her voice much higher to match her disguise. "Wait for my signal," she informed the others as she stood up and slowly began making her way down the hill.
Once she was on the road but still out of view of the guards, she began to fake cry before rushing towards the guards. "Help me! I'm lost!" she cried out in French as fake fat tears streamed down her cheeks.
She noticed one of the guards pointed his gun at her before realised she was only a little lost girl and lower his gun. This caused her to almost smirk as she knew she had them fooled.
"Please! I'm lost," Erika started sobbing as she stumbled to her knees in front of the gate.
One of the guards rushed towards her and helped her to her feet. "Where are your mother and father?" he asked as he knelt down to reach her eyes.
With her head pointed down towards the ground, her eyes to the side to see her teammates now hiding, waiting for her signal before attacking. "I don't know," she cried out as she began to sob so hard that her body was shaking.
The guard kneeling in front of her had grabbed her shoulders to try and comfort her. "We will help you find them," he informed her with a small smile which she responded back with a nod, but her eyes weren't looking at him but at her teammates that she could see over his shoulder.
Erika threw her head back before knocking her forehead hard into the guard's; knocking him unconscious. Before the other guards could react, two gunshots ran through the air and they fell to the ground, dead. A wave of gold ran over Erika again and she was now her normal self with her cloak disappearing into a gold mist.
"Nicely done," Steve commented as he made his way down to Erika.
She gave him a small smile with a small shrug of her shoulders. With their weapons at the ready, the Howling Commandos began making their way to the facility. Steve led the group with Erika at the back. Unlike the others, Erika held a sword and a shield in her hands which made her feel like her old self again. They managed the reach the edge of the facility without encountering any HYDRA soldiers. "What's the plan, Captain?" Dum Dum asked as they all knelt together to formulate a plan.
"We can either go in gun blazing or we sneak in and attack from the inside," Steve suggested; wanting to hear his team's opinion.
This caused a large grin to form on Dum Dum's face before remarking; "Gun blazing sounds like a plan."
"We could do both," Erika pointed out before she continued explaining her plan; "I can attack from the inside while the rest of you attack from the outside."
Several male voices began talking together. Although you could barely understand what they were saying, they were all saying the same thing. That Erika shouldn't go in alone.
"Boys!" her voice rang over the top of theirs which cause them all to fall silent.
"I will be fine. I'm pretty much a one-woman army," she informed them with a sly grin.
"How will you get in?" Bucky asked making Erika tilt her head to the right with a raised brow.
"Through the roof," she answered that it was obvious causing Dum Dum to scoff loudly.
"And how will you get to the roof?" he asked the princess who gave him a sly grin.
"Just watch," was all Erika said before standing up and slowly making her way down the hill towards the facility.
Her feet made no noise as she slowly made her way around the soldiers circling outside the facility; using vehicles and stacked boxes to hide behind to avoid detection. It wasn't long until she reached the vacant side of the building. She bent her knees and launched herself up to the roof. It was an easy feat for the Asgardian as she landed on the roof with a small thump. She turned her head to where the Howling Commandos were looking up at her with dropped jaws. She flicked her hair over her shoulder before saluting them with a large smirk.
"That's one hell of a woman," Dum Dum commented as they all stare at the princess with awestruck eyes.
Erika found the roof access door and broke the handle with a simple pull. She threw the broken handle off the side and pushed the door open with her shoulder; her sword gripped tightly in her hand. The princess slowly made her way through the hallways; ready to attack anyone who crossed her path. After a few moments, she could hear gunfire from outside meaning it was time for her to attack. Erika managed to sneak up on a soldier and used her sword to sash their back, causing them to fell to the floor.
She heard a shout and in what felt like slow motion, she saw a bullet travelling towards her which she leaned out of the way of. The second bullet was blocked by her arm reaching up and the bullet hit her bracelet with a small spark and the metal glowed.
Gaining momentum, she slid onto her knees and swung her sword to slash one of the soldier's knees. Erika stopped herself by pulling herself into a lunge then fully standing on her feet. Her hair was whipped out of her face as she tilted her head back. A soldier came running towards her and as he pointed his gun in her face, she gripped the barrel and crushed it in her hand, rendering the weapon useless. Placing her weight onto one foot, she used her another foot to kick the soldier in the chest which caused him to fly off his feet and hit the column behind him.
Erika's head whipped around when she heard a shout but before she could attack the soldier running towards her, a bullet pierced the soldier's chest. She looked over her shoulder to see Bucky standing behind with a gun pointed towards the soldier. "Nice shot," she commented with a grin.
However, her grin disappeared before she pushed Bucky to the side and used her bracelet to block the bullet that would have pierced Bucky through his heart. A dagger materialised in her hand which she threw towards the soldier with prefect aim as it landed in the soldier's chest. "Thanks," he breathed into her ear from beside her.
The two smiled at each other as they stared into each other eyes. "You two done staring?" the voice of Gabe causing the two to broke eye contact and look towards their teammate.
Gabe gave them a cheeky grin before walking towards where the others were gathered. "Nice work everyone," Steve commented once Bucky and Erika had joined the others.
"One down. Several more to go," Erika sing-song as they began making their way out of the now-empty facility.
Erika couldn't help but smile as they walked. She felt like herself again and it was the best feeling in the world.
