Chapter 13: The Truth Part 4

A few days later, Roseanne and Lisa were standing before a crowd of the former's followers. Standing with them on the stage was Steven and his family. Normally, the women following Roseanne would be braying for Steven's blood but not after her revealing speech.

"In short, I lied about being molested and nearly ruined the lives of an entire family in the process." Roseanne continued. "I have absolutely no excuse. I took all of my pent up grievance against the patriarchy and projected it onto a man who's only crime was not looking where he was going." She turned to Steven's family. "I am sorry."

The crowd cheered loudly as Lisa smiled.

"I'll also be dropping the lawsuit." Roseanne added. "I know I can't completely take back the pain I've caused you and your family but I am truly sorry Steven.

"It's okay." Steven replied, still visibly shaking. "I'm just glad this whole mess is behind us."

"If it's not to much trouble." Beatrice asked. "Would you and your friends be interested in helping me with my book. It's a dictionary for famous women of history."

"That would be wonderful." Roseanne beamed.

"Well don't think that I'll forgive you just because you apologized!" Sarah shouted.

"What if I got each of my followers to send your family a Christmas gift?" Roseanne offered.

"...Maybe."

Zelda approached Lisa whilst still on her phone.

"I never thought I'd be thanking an 8 year old for saving my family." She muttered. "But thank you for saving my family Lisa."

"You're welcome Zelda." Lisa replied. "I'm sorry about your job though."

"Aww it sucked ass." Zelda beamed, smiling for the first time since Lisa met her. "Maybe now I can get a job at Tot Hopic."

"Lisa!" A voice called out from behind. "Lisa turned around to see a women pointing a camera at her. "Say cheese!"

Lisa gave the best smile she could as the picture as taken.

"Leaving Springfield was the best decision I ever made." She thought happily. Still, a part of her, a very tiny shard of her being felt homesick.
