A/N:
Alright, this is it. The last of the Taiyou to Tsuki. It was definitely a journey.
I couldn't help but write a little flash forward for them. Anyways, enjoy this last little bit.
Epilogue
Five years later.
She wheeled the suitcase down the hallway, coming to a stop in front of their apartment front door. Quickly she pressed a sequence of numbers, unlocking the door efficiently and entered in rolling the suitcase with. She reached over to the right side of the wall, flicking on the lights just as her husband entered carrying their three-year daughter in his arms. The little silver-haired toddler toyed with the silver strands of her papa's hair — which was neatly pulled into a high ponytail.
"I'll get her ready for bed," Sesshomaru said as he leaned over to his wife and gave her a soft kiss on the lips.
"Alright, I'll check in with you once I find that purple elephant," Aya replied with a smile and then seeing her daughter's eyes light up at the mention of the stuffed animal her smile widened.
"Yes! Purple! Elllfant," the girl exclaimed.
"Yes Himari, I will get you your purple elephant. Now be a good girl for papa while he gets you ready for bed ok?"
"Hai," Himari replied happily.
Sesshomaru then walked further into the apartment, disappearing with their little treasure down the hall. Aya reached for the suitcase, unlocking it quickly as she began to scour it's contents for the missing purple stuffed animal. She was paused from her rummaging by the ring of her cell phone. Aya reached into her purse and fished out her cell phone, and with a swipe of her finger she accepted the call.
"Moshi, moshi."
"Hey Aya-chan, you're finally back in Tokyo. How was the vacation?" Kagome said.
"It was great, spent most of the time at the beach building sandcastles with Himari. It was just what we needed after Sessh's stressful business merger."
"We're good. Haru-chan has finally succeeded in persuading Inu to have another cat, named him Maru because it reminds him of uncle Sesshomaru — dont tell your husband."
Aya giggled into the phone at the thought of Sesshomaru finding out his oldest nephew compared him to a cute white fluffy cat.
"Don't worry, I won't tell him but Haru might when he sees us on Friday. I mean we're still down for the big family reunion at the Higurashi-Nomura's right?"
"Yes, of course. Inuyasha and I are hosting. Sango-chan and Yoshiro-chan are already looking forward to playing with Himari-chan. Haru-chan is excited to see uncle Sesshomaru. My mother and Jiichan will also be attending but Souta is still attending classes."
"Oh, that's great. Have my parents gotten back to you? I spoke with my mother before we got on the plane, but she hasn't mentioned anything."
"Yeah, I spoke with her an hour ago. They are both coming, Hayao and Nanami. But Chiyo-sama will be absent, apparently there's some housing problem in Ōsaka, so she won't be attending."
"Well alright. Listen let's catch up tomorrow. We just got home and I gotta get Himari to bed. It's way past her bedtime."
"Yeah, of course. I'll talk to you later."
"Goodnight."
Aya set her phone on the coffee table and returned to rummage through the remainder of their luggage. After a few more minutes, she emerged victorious, finally collecting the stuffed animal from one of the hidden side pockets. She rose to her feet and made her way down the hall and towards her daughter's bedroom. Already washed and dressed in her pyjamas, Himari was placed in her bed. Aya leaned against the doorframe momentarily, just taking in the sight of her husband and daughter. Sesshomaru gently pulled up the covers, bringing them up over Himari making sure she was tucked in just right.
"Time to sleep," he said, his voice laced with gentleness and warmth.
"Haaai," Himari yawned out.
"Good night Himari," Sesshomaru said and he leaned down pressing a soft kiss to his daughter's forehead.
"Night papa," she said softly as she closed her green eyes.
Sesshomaru stood and smiled at his wife as he walked past her and out the door. Aya took a step forward, holding the purple stuffed animal and she gently placed it next to her daughter. Himari instantly reached for it, her tiny hands wrapping themselves around the elephant bringing it closer for a snuggle.
"Mama," Himari mumbled, eyes closed as she snuggled into the purple stuffed elephant.
Aya smiled as she observed her little one for a moment longer, taking in her features — the shiny silver hair just like her papa, and her currently closed forest green eyes. She reached over to the white nightstand and flicked off the lamp.
"Sweet dreams Himari-chan," Aya said softly, pressing a gentle kiss to her daughter's forehead.
Then she made her way out the door, leaving the door slightly parted before making her way down the hall towards the master bedroom. She smiled as she took in the sight of her husband, completely admiring his physique, as he stripped out of his travel clothes and threw them in the laundry hamper.
"Kagome says hi and we're all set for Friday," Aya said suddenly as she walked over to her nightstand and dropped of her watch before making her way towards him.
"Ah, good," he replied as he removed the last of his clothes and then he stepped from the walk-in closet to their master bathroom.
"Also get ready. Haru has been missing his uncle Sesshomaru," Aya commented as she began to strip out of her clothes as well.
Sesshomaru reached into the towel cabinet for clean towels, pulling out two of them and setting them on the counter. Then he glanced over at his wife, halting his movements as he was taking in the sight of her removing her clothing piece by piece.
"It's only been three weeks," he said with a chuckle.
"True, but right now you're his favourite person in the whole world because you are so much stronger than his daddy. I think seeing you spar with Inuyasha totally shocked him but in a good way, he even started taking kendo lessons," Aya said.
"He's a good kid," Sesshomaru stayed as he opened the glass door to their shower and turned it on, setting the correct temperature right away.
"Yeah, but just wait when we have our son. He will be like your little mini-me," Aya replied happily as she finished undressing.
He glanced back to his wife, a puzzled look on his face. As far as he knew, they had a daughter, not a son unless...
"Our son?"
She walked over to him completely naked and unabashed.
"Well, use your nose. Aren't you an inu daiyoukai?" She teased as she took his hand and placed it onto her abdomen.
Sesshomaru sniffed the air slightly, taking a deeper whiff of his wife's scent and a smile slowly spread across his face.
"I love you," he said, his hands remaining on her belly as he nearly pierced her eyes with his golden hues.
"I love you too," she replied as she gently reached over to him, caressing his face with her hand.
She paused her ministrations as he brought her closer to him.
"Thank you for everything," he whispered softly as he wrapped his arms around her small frame, taking another whiff of her scent, letting it envelop him completely.
A/N: Soooo epilogue. couldn't resist giving Kagome and Inuyasha a set of twins (Sango and Yoshiro) named after our favourite taijiya and Kagome's late father. Hope you enjoyed the ending. ^^
