Chapter 14: Oh, Sanpun.
Usagi's POV
"Sanpun Mamo" The now worried mother whispered to her infant, she was sitting on the bathroom floor leaning against the wall clutching her baby to her chest. "Sanpun... Sanpun... Sanpun" Usagi repeated in soft breaths trying to soothe her nerves. A pregnancy test sat on the bathroom counter, the timer on her phone counting down from three minutes. She can't be pregnant, she shouldn't be pregnant just the idea of it sent chills throughout her entire body. "Three seconds... two... one..." Usagi said watching the countdown on her phone as the timer beeped, "Usako I'm home! Where are you?" Mamoru called out causing Usagi to scramble to her feet with Chibi Mamo. Her hands hurriedly tossed the pregnancy test into the bathroom drawer not able to see the results due to her rush.
"Here" Usagi announced breathlessly walking towards the entrance to the apartment, Chibi Mamo gripped at Usagi's blouse babbling out to the sound of his father's voice. "What were you doing in there?" Mamoru asked curiously as he approached the pair setting down his work bag, "I was about to give Mamo a bath" Usagi made up a lie on the spot returning the kiss she received from her partner. "I'll do it" Mamoru eagerly volunteered, these days he was taking any opportunity to spend with his family his new position only giving him limited amounts of time with them.
With a quick handoff of the baby she watched the pair disappear into the bathroom, "Usa, his soap is in the drawer?" Mamoru called out from the bathroom earning a yelp from Usagi. He was going to find the test. For the second time that night she scrambled on her feet, "I'll find it" she called back. The drawer swinging open as she snatched the test when his eyes were focused on the infant in his arms, the test secure in her pocket as she retrieved the baby soap handing it over to the man lying in the filled tub. "Are you okay Usako? You look pale" He asked as she was about to leave the room, "Are you still feeling sick?" a follow up question was posed. "I'm fine Mamo-chan" Was all she could reply as her legs carried her out of the bathroom.
Usagi slouched into the comfort of her bed, Luna making comforting caresses to her smooth porcelain skin with her fuzzy tail "You need to know Usagi, for Mamo's sake" the feline reminded "This won't go away if you avoid the results"
All that could come out was a nod, she checked the door that led to the bathroom making sure it was still shut hearing Mamoru discuss with Chibi Mamo the medical procedures he had to perform today.
She sat back down on the bed, Luna peered over as she pulled out the test from her pocket.

"No" Usagi whimpered, "What does that mean Usagi?" Luna asked curiously.
"I'm pregnant"
"Do you guys ever wrap it up?" Rei asked, the girls all sat at their booth in the now festively decorated arcade. "I'm on birth control" Usagi cried covering her face in her hands.
"That's only ninety-one percent effective Usagi-chan" Ami said wrapping her hand around her friends arm comfortingly. "How was I supposed to know this baby was going to be the other nine percent?" the blonde reached to hold Ami's hand needing some kind of comfort.
"Mamoru must have strong swimmers. What are you going to do?" Minako asked as she looked past Usagi's shoulder seeing Mamoru sat at the counter with Chibi Mamo. "I think I have no other choice but... uh getting rid of the baby before Mamoru finds out" Usagi wanted to throw up at the end of that sentence feeling so repulsed and heartbroken at her conclusion.
"He'll never forgive you if he finds out Usagi" Makoto interrupted, "You need to talk with him about it" she advised. "It's Usagi's choice what she wants to do with her body, Mamoru has no say" Rei intervened with a huff.
"It's his baby" Makoto argued back, "He should have a say in what happens to his baby" she whispered realizing their voices were getting too loud.
Usagi ducked her head into Ami's shoulder, "Chibi Mamo is too young for them to have to deal with another baby" Minako brought up a good point. "They barely have things settled out as it is, another baby will just make things even more difficult" she said.
Usagi groaned, "you guys are seriously not helping" she cried out. "I've been thinking about all of that, that's all I've been thinking about. Mamoru just got a new position at the hospital and it was like pulling teeth trying to get him to take it. If I tell him this he will give it up, this will be a problem he doesn't need" she said, "Who has a problem?" Mamoru asked as he joined their booth with the very hungry baby who was already reaching for his mother.
"Motoki, he doesn't know if he's going to the Christmas Eve party tomorrow!" Minako blurted out Usagi praising her bullshitting ability. "I almost forgot about the party, Motoki's going why wouldn't he?" Mamoru hummed handing the baby over to Usagi who grabbed a pre-pumped bottle from his baby bag to feed him.
"We know you can't go Mr. Big shot doctor" Minako teased rolling her eyes at him, "He already feels bad he won't be there" Usagi warned. "Anyways when do you two plan on having another baby?" Minako asked bluntly. Usagi choked at the question her face burning a bright red.
Mamoru smiled at the thought, "Usagi said she wants another one when Mamoru turns two but I'd want another when he's one. I'd also prefer to be married before we have another one, do things right" he said with a shrug earning 'Awes' from the girls except from Usagi who felt such deep shame, this was her fault she ruined their future plans.
Ami noticed the change in Usagi's expression and gave her a sad smile, "It will be okay" she whispered into the blonde's ear.
Narrator's POV
"Merry Christmas Eve Mamo!" Usagi cheered to the baby who had woken up with a smile on his face, "let's go wake papa up for work" she said as she watched the infant stretch in his crib with a yawn coming out of his tiny mouth.
Usagi set the baby down on the sleeping man's chest as she returned to the bedroom with him. Chibi Mamo tiredly tugging at the raven hair that fell against Mamoru's forehead. Mamoru stirred awake, "Hello little man" he said huskily as he peeked at the baby with one eye open.
"Merry Christmas Eve my Mamo's" Usagi cheered leaning down to press a kiss to both boys cheeks. "Merry Christmas Eve" Mamoru said a sad expression taking over his face, "I wish I could be with you two today" he played with the button nose of the miniature version of himself.
"You'll be home tonight" Usagi tried to cheer him up, "and tomorrow you'll be here, even though it's with my parents as well" she tried to joke which earned a nervous chuckle in response. "Thanks for reminding me about that Usako" Mamoru teased covering his face with one of his arms.
"They love you" Usagi comforted lifting Chibi Mamo from his chest. "You need to get ready for work" she said, "I'll make your coffee, remember your lunch bag baka!" She reminded with narrowed eyes displaying her seriousness. "Your father does not love me!" He called out as she disappeared with their son from their bedroom.
As he stepped into the hospital he scowled at the Christmas decor, it just reminded him that today he wouldn't be with his son watching his eyes light up like a Christmas tree at the sight of the holiday party. He wouldn't be with his bunny getting to kiss her under the mistletoe he was certain Minako made sure to hang everywhere.
"Merry Christmas Eve Dr. Chiba" Kobayashi greeted following him into his new much larger office as was his usual routine. Mamoru grunted the same greeting in return, "Not in the Christmas mood huh?" The nurse asked him.
"Not in the working mood, not today at least" Mamoru explained staring at the picture of Chibi Mamo in Santa's arms. "I understand must be tough to be apart on a special day" Kobayashi spoke as he saw where his superior was staring. "I used to hate Christmas" Mamoru explained as he slumped in his chair placing his glasses on, "but this Christmas is different, even if it is just Christmas Eve it's special for me. Our first holiday spent together as a family" he was unsure why he was spilling his guts to the male.
"Your son is too young to remember this, Miss Tsukino adores you regardless. You'll be able to smother them with your presence tonight and tomorrow" Kobayashi gave him a grin as he finished his sentence.
"Thanks Kobayashi, for the talk" Mamoru returned the grin.
Usagi usually fell asleep on the couch waiting for him so when he returned home that's what he expected was waiting for him. He was surprised as he walked through the door seeing both her and Mamo awake "what are you two doing up? It's almost three in the morning" He spoke checking his watch. "I stayed up, Mamo just woke up right now" Usagi explained giving him a megawatt smile as they stood in front of the Christmas tree in the corner of the living room.
"I guess he wanted to celebrate with you too, Merry Christmas officially" Usagi cooed as she looked at the now hyper baby who was kicking his legs out unable to keep his attention off the lit tree. Mamoru hurried over embracing them in a tight hug, "I've missed you two terribly" he sighed out.
"We've missed you too Papa" Usagi said, "but you're here now" she handed over the baby to him.
Luna approached weaving her way through the legs of both adults, "Merry Christmas Luna" Mamoru said watching the cat pounce onto Usagi's shoulders. "Merry Christmas Mamoru" Luna returned, her tail smacked the back of Usagi's head giving her a knowing look that read 'You need to tell him'
Chibi Mamoru was easy to put back to sleep, but Usagi and her big Mamoru were caught up in enjoying their only time privately together.
"I have something to tell you Mamo-chan" Usagi whispered once she saw Luna give her another stern look, "I didn't want to ruin your night" she frowned now fidgeting with his fingers in her hand.
"You could never ruin my night Usako, but I have to admit this doesn't sound good" Mamoru felt uneasy thinking she was going to announce her disinterest in him or something equally terrible.
Usagi stood going over to the Christmas tree picking up a small wrapped gift labeled with Mamoru's name. "Open" She instructed as she placed it in his hands.
Her heart began to pound in her chest as she watched him unwrap the present, his hands began to shake as he saw the pregnancy test inside the box. "Usako" He said looking up at her with widened eyes, "We're pregnant?" He asked. Mamoru was silent for a while just staring at the positive test, his mind was flooded as he continued to keep his lips pursed together with a unreadable expression.
"Why would this ruin my night Usa?" He asked suddenly looking at her. "Because this completely messes up our plans, our life" Usagi started, she began crying with a guilt ridden expression. "I'm sorry Mamo-chan, it's my fault" She apologized. "This will ruin everything, I'll take care of it if you think it's the right idea" She offered, maybe he was angry with her? Hated her already?
Standing up dropping the box to the floor he tackled her into a bone crushing hug. "We're pregnant Usako!" He cheered pressing his forehead against hers his eyes closed as tears slipped past them, he began crying too but out of utter joy. "Another baby, how could that ever be bad news?" Mamoru asked with the biggest smile she has ever seen.
"Mamo is so young still, he's going on five months. Barely five months Mamoru, we can't deal with another baby. He's so clingy as it is" Usagi was cradled in Mamoru's hold as she spoke, "Mamoru will be a year old by the time this baby comes Usako, this is our baby. Many people before us have done this even single parents have done this. We can handle anything together like you always tell me" he emphasized
"Our baby."
"This is the best Christmas present I could ever get" Mamoru cupped her cheeks letting the tears continue to spill from both their eyes. "Please give our baby a chance, give us a chance" He begged looking into her baby blue eyes with hope.
"Our baby" Usagi repeated his previous statement with a slow nod, Mamoru chuckled still wearing the big smile before he pulled her into a passionate kiss.
"Our little bunhead in the oven" He teased.
Short but sweet! I had to rush this chapter because I wanted it out in time, I have some exams and homework to do today but I wanted you to have something to read :)
The next chapter will be juicy . Mamoru faces Kenji. Will they tell them their news?
