Kagome's P.O.V.
Sango emerged from within one of the nearby storage units, wearing her demon slayer uniform. Miroku watched her in awe, her long black ponytail swaying as she walked towards him. "Miroku, let's go inside to see if we can force Naraku out. Inuyasha did say he could smell him all over this castle." Miroku gave her a simple nod in agreement. "Kirara, you stay here with Shippo and Kagome." The cat demon mewled, the twin tails dancing with one another.
"Naraku has got to be behind this." Miroku stated. I noticed his right hand- the one with the wind tunnel in it- make a fist. "These bodies were here when we arrived, I swear it on my life, Kagome. This is definitely one of his setups." Miroku looked me in my eyes, and I knew he was telling the truth. Miroku and I have a mutual respect for each other. I know he would never deceive me- we're friends before anything, even if we were kinda on different sides now that I had agreed to help Koga.
"I believe you Miroku," I bowed my head in a bit of shame as Inuyasha and Koga continued their brawl. "I just...I don't know why I thought Inuyasha would do something so terrible. I know what type of person he is. The Inuyasha I know would never slaughter people needlessly… Ugh, what was I thinking?" I bit my lip guiltily.
Sango looked at me and smiled at me softly. "We get it, Kagome. We know Inuyasha broke your heart needlessly, so we know that it might have been a little hard for you to believe that he isn't totally a bad person… But, he didn't do this." She carefully put on her demon slayer's mask in preparation. "And like Shippo said, he definitely still has feelings for you. He's been all mopey since you left. Even with him being a complete idiot sometimes, he would never intentionally make you more upset with him."
I smiled, albeit a bit sadly. "Thanks, you guys."
Miroku gently placed a hand on my shoulder to comfort me. Oh, how I missed that lecher. "No need to thank us. Sango and I are going to head inside the castle to try and get to the bottom of who's behind this." I nodded in understanding. "Kagome, we need you to get Inuyasha and Koga to stop fighting. Pummelling each other is no good when they have a greater, common enemy to face."
"I'll try my best, Miroku." I know that both of them loved me, but could I really stop them from fighting? The rivalry between the two of them had always burned hot. Now that I had been dumped only to end up with Koga… I'm sure that only added gasoline to the fire. Together, Sango and Miroku headed towards the castle. Sango took Hiraikotsu off of her back before throwing it into the castle to spring any trap that could possibly be waiting for them. When they made it inside without anything popping off, I returned my attention back to the fight in front of me. I bit my lip nervously, not knowing what to do.
Koga managed to punch Inuyasha square in the jaw, and I winced at the sight of the impact. I had never seen a full fledged fight between the two of them, as I've always managed to stop them or there was something to be settled with a greater enemy first, but with Koga so upset and Inuyasha's jealousy, I knew that this was something way more serious. I also thought they would never be so evenly matched. Sure, Koga has jewel shards and was light on his feet, but Inuyasha has quite the formidable sword… Yet here he was, getting beaten like a rag doll.
Inuyasha spit out the blood filling his mouth before wiping his mouth with his sleeve. "Heh. That's all you got, wolf?" Koga growled lowly.
"That's more than enough to deal with the likes of you." Koga smirked, the power in his right arm materializing in white waves. He held up his fist. Inuyasha leaped forward to slash him with Tetsusaiga, and Koga rushed him. Right before they collided head on, Koga sidestepped ever so slightly, his blow hitting Inuyasha's arm instead of Tetsusaiga. Both of them came to a halt with Inuyasha grimacing.
"I'm afraid I scratched you in passing," Koga grinned, casting a smug look in Inuyasha's direction. The hanyou held his sword low, his face in a scowl. His right arm hung limp. The previous exchange with Koga had completely broken his arm. "It's time to finish this, mutt." Koga's face slowly began to fill with rage as he started his assault of punches and kicks at Inuyasha. With his right arm broken, he could only draw half of Tetsusaiga's power. The hanyou watched Koga's every move carefully, often choosing to dodge than blocking the attacks with his sword. They continued to fight, Koga being given the upper hand in the situation. His rage coupled with his new found jewel shard and frightening speed left Inuyasha with no choice but to be on the defensive. The hanyou was pushed back with every move.
"Koga, stop! Inuyasha didn't kill them!"
Koga didn't let up, his blood boiling with rage. How could she defend such a monster? Koga glanced over at her, and the sight of her expression almost made him melt. How was she showing mercy for him when he toyed with her feelings so carelessly? Inuyasha leapt back a few feet, halting the pack leader's combo. Koga quickly stirred up a cyclone, circling Inuyasha and becoming so fast he was invisible. The scent of his comrades' blood, hearing Inuyasha speak so unfondly of what he and Kaggome shared only fueled his hunger for revenge. Inuyasha couldn't keep up. When he was the most confused, Koga sprung from the cyclone and kicked Inuyasha square in the chin from underneath. The half demon was sent flying, the force from the kick so strong that he was unable to regain control of his body before he hit the ground with a heavy thud and a groan. Koga couldn't bear to look at Kagome's face as she looked on in horror, holding a terrified Shippo in her arms. If he looked at her, he would surely end up sparing Inuyasha.
"Please, believe me!" He heard Kagome running towards him, desperation in her voice. He had to end this quickly before she made him change his mind.
Kagome was too good for this world. Maybe so much so that she was naive. There was no room for mercy in this era. Koga turned to Inuyasha, who lay motionless in the rubble created from the impact of his harsh landing, completely unable to defend himself.
"It's over." The wolf demon tribe leader held up his charged fist once again, his eyes set on the half demon. He leapt up into the air before landing a deadly blow into Inuyasha's stomach, an impact so powerful that the whole area lit up.
I squeezed my eyes shut, and covered my ears with my hands. Even that didn't stop me from hearing Inuyasha screaming in pain. I tried my hardest to make Koga understand, but yet he still continued the fight. After a few moments of him screaming in agony, the light disappeared and he grew quiet.
Koga removed his fist from Inuyasha's guts, staring down at his expressionless face in disgust. "That murder's finally dead, Kagome." He said to himself. Tears began to well up in my eyes before I started to run over to them in a panic.
"Koga, how could you?!" I screamed, my footsteps heavy and desperate. Maybe I still did love Inuyasha. If I didn't, the loss of him would have hurt so bad as it did now. Before I could get to Koga and Inuyasha, a fierce wind whipped up. I covered my face with my forearms, grunting a bit at all the force. When it finally ended, I looked at Koga. His victorious expression was now gone, and was replaced by one of confusion. I looked at what his gaze was fixated on and I too was shaken up. His comrades- the slaughtered wolf demons, began to get up and collect their weapons. It was just like the one who came with the jewel shard- their wounds were frothing and their eyes were soulless.
"My brothers were all dead, how do they rise again?" Koga said, shocked. Not even a moment later, they began to attack him. Their assault was completely mindless and Koga countered them easily, but they came one after another. He drop kicked one before leaping off of his falling body to avoid a swing from another. He kept knocking them down, but they kept getting up, like zombies. I noticed Koga starting to get tired so I readied an arrow to help him when they stopped suddenly.
A woman with jet black hair emerged from the castle entrance. Her hair was in a neat bun, with bangs like Sango's and a feathered accessory, and she wore a purple and white kimono with a golden sash at her waist. Her fan was open, shielding her mouth as she took slow steps towards Koga, who watched her every move.
"You've done well, wolf boy."
