Harvest Festival

Allura looked at the assembled people below the balcony. It was the first time they could celebrate the traditional Harvest Festival on Arus again. Ever since Zarkon had destroyed everything, they hadn't celebrated this time of the year. This time had always been special to her. She had loved being allowed out of the castle when she was still a child to join the people of Arus in celebrating the year's harvest.

She finished her speech, which she hoped would inspire her people to keep going. To rise from the despair that Zarkon had placed over the planet until the Voltron Force had arrived. When she turned to the four men that were her teammates, she smiled.

"Are you ready to join the festivities in the village?" she asked excitedly.

"You bet we are, Princess," replied Lance, "I have a hot date for the dance already."

"I have a date too. Jenlie from the grocer's in town is meeting me down there," added Hunk.

"That's great," exclaimed Allura, happy for her friends.

"I will meet with some of the teens from the village. We want to go around as a group," stated Pidge.

Allura looked at Keith.

"Well, looks like it's up to me to keep you company," he grinned, knowing she wouldn't mind that.

While he might pretend when Nanny and Coran were around that it was all business, she knew that he liked her as more than a friend and a person he had to protect. But the stupid rules didn't allow them to show it openly.

"Well, Keith, then we will have to have fun on our own."

The group separated, with Allura and Keith going into their rooms to change into something less formal, as they planned to simply mingle with the people.

The festival was fun. Allura kept close to Keith, using any justification to hold onto him that Nanny couldn't blame her for later. Though both also had to stop a lot to talk to some people that approached them, as both had gained a lot of fame and prestige on Arus. It included drinking several kinds of alcohol, which especially Allura wasn't used to. Still, as Keith managed to keep the overall amounts tolerable, she could go on, even if she became very giggly the more time passed. Keith himself felt the effect of the different kinds of alcohol as well but was more used to drinking.

When a highlight of the Harvest Festival started, the dance, both Keith and Allura forgot much about acting proper and behaved like all the other couples in love. They danced together and enjoyed the music. And Allura insisted in joining another tradition of the festival. A woman that wanted to show a man her love would kiss him at the end of the Flower Shower, a fast-paced dance. Keith was surprised by her action but immediately returned the kiss, deciding that harvest was now his favourite time of the year on Arus.
