Chapter 15: The Answer
"Silverstripe! Wake up!" Silverstripe wearily looked up to see Whitemist and Splashfur looking at him. He got to his feet.
"What? I was sleeping!" He protested. Splashfur meowed in embarrassment.
"You sleep in too long!" She meowed. "But that isn't the point, ShadowClan is going to attack RiverClan!" Silverstripe took a step back into his den.
"What, why?" Silverstripe meowed quietly. He thought about Jaypaw and Nightmist. My best friend and mate are going to battle? He thought. He glanced over to the nursery to see the kits running around. He couldn't let them battle.
"Where are they going to battle?" Silverstripe meowed.
"On the RiverClan and ShadowClan border." Whitemist meowed. Splashfur noticed how much Silverstripe looked at the nursery.
"Why do you look at the nursery so much?" She asked. Silverstripe hestated for a moment.
"Well," He began. "Nightmist just found out that she is-," Silverstripe stopped. He took a breath in and out slowly. "She found out she was carrying my kits." Whitemist and Splashfur looked at each other and then back at him. They looked excited.
"So your saying you're going to be a father?" Splashfur meowed fast. Silverstripe nodded. The two she-cat warriors started to squeal.
"Congratulations!" They meowed. "We are going to be aunts!" Silverstripe watched them do their thing. After a few moments of twisting and turning all over the place, they made their way to the back of the camp and started talking. Silverstripe chuckled. He started to make his way over to the border where the battle would begin. He sighed. After he was about half way there, he heard cats yowling and crying. Silverstripe was confused. Then he realized that there was only one thing that was happening. They already started the battle. Silverstripe ran as fast as he could to the sounds. As he barged through the bushes, he saw the most fierce battlefield ever. He looked around for Nightmist. He didn't see her. He gave a sigh of relief realizing she must be at the RiverClan camp. Then he looked for Jaypaw. He saw him fighting. Silverstripe noticed that Jaypaw wasn't just fighting, he was fighting three other cats head on. Without thinking, He yowled. Everyone stopped fighting and looked at him. Silverstripe just realized what he has done. He was just about to speak when new words flooded his head and unexpectedly said those.
"What is the meaning of this? Are you fighting just for fighting?" Silverstripe meowed firmly. "ShadowClan, why are you attacking RiverClan? Sure, they are fighting with ThunderClan but they haven't done anything to deserve this." ShadowClan shuffled their paws. "If ShadowClan wanted territory they would expand behind themselves, not toward ThunderClan." Silverstripe meowed. "Why does ThunderClan and their ally need to suffer?" Silverstripe looked around the battlefield. Then a ShadowClan cat meowed.
"What about the prophecy? I thought that would end the war?" Many cats meowed in agreement. Silverstripe didn't know what to say but more words flooded his head.
"What did the prophecy say about ending the war?"
"Between Rivers and Shadows is where you shall find the answer to end the war." The ShadowClan cat responded. Then he realized. "ShadowClan and RiverClan are the rivers and shadows in the prophecy. But between us is-" He stopped and looked at Silverstripe. "It is you? You are the answer to stop the war?" The ShadowClan cat meowed.
"Well I stopped this one and just gave a solution to ShadowClan getting more territory and ThunderClan keeping thiers. So yes, I'm the cat of the prophecy." The cats from both clans were shocked. After a bit of staring, both Clans left in peace with their dead and injured. Silverstripe turned around to head home when he saw the whole of WindClan watching him. They cleared a path for him and walked home in silence. No cat spoke on the journey home, not one. After everyone arrived, Silverstripe grabbed a squirrel from the prey pile and began to eat it. After he was done eating, he headed to his den and took a nap waiting for night to approach to see Nightmist and talk about the battle with her. He was done with the prophecy. No more waiting for the right moment, no more being scared of ruining the Clans, and especially no more restless nights worrying himself to sleep.
