Chapter 9
Emmett's POV
After dinner with the family, we hung with everyone for a bit before heading out as both of the boys had school the next day. I headed back to my place, taking the highway to get home faster. We pulled onto my street, and I drove further down the road through the houses until I reached my house and turned down my driveway before coming to a stop in front of my two story home plus a basement. I turned to check on Brett and Bella, only to see they had both fallen asleep on the ride home. I smiled at them sleeping so peacefully in their seats, I got out of the car and went around to Bella's door and opened it for her, I leaned over her to unbuckle her seatbelt before gently shaking her awake.
"Bella…, Wake up baby. We are home" I whispered to her. She started moving around a bit before opening her eyes, while facing towards me. She finally opened her eyes completely, before smiling at me and then looking around to see where we were. She looked around confused at her location, "We are at my house, it's closer and I figured you guys could spend the night at my place, hope that was okay?" I said to her. She smiled at me and shook her head "Yea, that is okay. It's better than having to drive all the way back to my place all over again and besides, your place is closer to your parents. Guess we better get Brett inside and in bed." she said to me. I shook my head, before moving back a bit to help her out of the car. "Here are the keys, this one opens the front door. You go inside and I'll grab Brett and bring him in." I said to her as I handed her my keys.
I turned to watch her head towards the door but instead of moving, she just stopped in front and stared up at the house for a bit. I bought my house about 2 years ago, it was a three story house with 4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms and 2 half-bathrooms. It even had a nice sized inground pool and a large yard in the back, it was perfect for when my family came over to stay over or even visit. I moved back a bit to open Brett's door and got Brett out of his car seat. When I got him out of his seat, I picked him up in my arms before turning towards the house seeing Bella was standing there, holding the door open for me. "Do you have everything? " I asked her. She shook her head 'yes' towards me before smiling at me, I moved towards the door, going up the three steps in front of my door and placed my shoulder against the door before jerking my head to move forward into the house, following in behind her.
When we walked in, she stopped to look around to see the living-room to the right and the dinning-room and kitchen to the left of us. I moved forward towards the double staircase in front of us, "Come on, let's put Brett to sleep and then I can give you a tour of the house or we can just seat and talk for a bit, depending on how tired you are after we get Brett settled in to sleep properly." I said to her. She smiled at me, before shaking her head yes. I led her up the stairs, when we reached the top floor, I paused for a second in the hallway, "This floor has two bedrooms plus the master suite as well. On the main floor are two more bedrooms, though those are mainly for guests when I have them." I said to her. Turning to the right, heading towards the one of the bedrooms on this floor. "This is the one of the rooms on this floor with the other right across from it and the master bedroom which is towards the left of the staircase."
When we reached the door, she opened it and then I headed inside to lay him down on the bed. Bella came to stand on the side of me to take off his jacket and stuff, so he was able to sleep comfortably. She pulled the blanket back for me to lay him down properly and then placed them over him once he was in the bed properly. I moved back further so she could finish helping him settle in the bed, she gave him a goodnight kiss when she was done before turning towards me with a smile on her face. I held out my hand to her and she took it, I looked around the room we were in. It was a standard bedroom, and didn't have any extra items than the necessary ones. "The room will do for now, but we can check into making it a room more suitable to him, make it into a bedroom he will love, we aren't far from him, so hopefully he will like it." I said to her with a smile on my face.
She looked around the room herself, "It's good. Don't worry about it too much." she said to me. I turned towards the door, leading with her behind me to exit the room, closing it behind us,but leaving it ajar for some light from the hallway to go into the room just in case he woke in the middle of the night. "Does he still wake up at night? Don't want him to wake up and he is scared cause he doesn't recognize his location." I said to her as I led her down the hallway, coming to a stop outside the master suite. She gave me a big smile, before leaning in to kiss me on my cheek, "He will be okay, most nights he doesnt wake up. And especially after the exciting day he has had, I'm sure he is gonna just sleep through the rest of the night. If anything, we can keep our door open so if he wakes up, we should be able to hear him."she said to me.
I shook my head at her in agreement, "You said 'our door', does that mean it's okay to share the master bedroom together? I don't want you to do that if you are not ready for it or feel uncomfortable in any way. You sure?" I asked her. I really didn't want her to think I was expecting anything, for me, just having her close to me was amazing within itself. Didn't need much more than that to make a happy man, I had both her and Brett in my life now. I was complete in all ways I could think of right now. "I'm okay, I promise. Right now, I wanna take things slow in terms of us being intimate and more focus on us emotionally and mentally in terms of you and myself being a couple and as well as you, Brett and myself being a family. It's gonna take some getting used to. I promise I feel no pressure, and that if I do or when I'm ready for more, you will be the first one to know about how I'm feeling. I'm good, no worries." She said to me.
"Good, I want you to be able to tell me these things. I'm glad you feel you can, I never want you to feel that you can't tell me something." I smiled at her before leaning to place a light kiss on her lips, I started to lean back but she pulled me back by the front of my shirt, progressing our kiss further. I moved my hands to place them on the back of her waist, bringing her in closer to me and carrying on with our kissing for a few minutes before pulling away to finally catch some proper breaths. We're both breathing a little heavily but smiling at each other, and can tell if anyone saw us they would say we are smiling like fools, I pulled her in close to me, placing my chin on her head. "I'm really enjoying being in your arms. Just one day and I think it's already one of my favourite places to be." She said, tightening her arms around me before leaning back a bit from me to look at me. "Come on, let's get you in bed. Sure you are feeling tired as well after that big game you had and then everything else with the police and then our talk and then dinner with family. Let's go to sleep." She said to me, smiling at me with her eyes glowing with happiness.
I moved my hand forward to open the door and motioned for her to go first. She walked in and began to look around the room, my room was mainly decorated in white with accents of brown, tan and grey mixed in through the room. My mother had truly done her greatest work with my bedroom, perfectly making it into a place I truly enjoyed being in. She had made it so that the room even had a mini seating area to the side of the room and it even had a large picture behind the bed with colors of blues, browns and white. Another amazing thing about it was that in the master bathroom, it had a matching his and her sinks both with compartments and stuff for both sides, with both a bathtub and a shower as well.
She moved further into the room, checking it out. She smiled at me before heading further into the room, getting closer to the bed to get a better look around the room, "Your room looks amazing." She said. "Thanks, but can't really take the credit for it. My mom is one that decorated the place, she just took in account of my interests, my likes and dislikes. She did an amazing job creating the place. Room even has his and her sinks and a great bathtub, my mom went all out for the bathroom as she knows how a great soak can help after a practice or a game. I hope you love the master suite as much as I do and that you can feel comfortable around this house. I want you to feel like this is yours and Brett's home as well." I said to her. She turned back towards me with a large smile on her face, before moving towards me and placing her arms around my neck, I placed my arms around her waist and brought her in close to me.
"I'm sure that both Brett and myself will come to love this place as home. Don't worry." she said to me. I leaned in to kiss her forehead before turning her around to face towards the bed. "Through that on the right is the walk-in closet, it also has his and her aspect to it as well. And then through that door is the washroom." I said to her, turning us a bit and pointing to a door behind us. I moved away from her a bit, taking her bags with me and resting them in the mini seating area to the side of the room. "I'll leave your stuff here on the side, so you can do any of the stuff you may need. I obviously don't have any female clothes here for you but I can give a shirt and a pair of shorts to wear to bed, at least that way you can be comfortable while you sleep tonight." I said to her.
I moved to the walk-in closet and grabbed her a shirt and a pair of boxer shorts for her to sleep in for the night, moving towards her to hand her the clothes. "Here is something for you to wear tonight, you can go and change in the washroom and I will change in the closet." I said to her. I went to the closet after she had entered the washroom and closed the door behind her, as I changed out of my clothes and into a pair of my pajama pants, I looked around the closet to see where all my clothes were, there were his and her sides of the closet but I had kept a few of my things on Bella's side, that i didn't use often enough, deciding that I wouldn't have to move much of my clothes for Bella to fit her clothes here if she wanted to keep stuff here. I just hoped that she would want to do that, I smiled thinking about our stuff mixing and blending together to create one household. I couldn't wait until we were one family in one house, I knew it would probably take a bit of time but I hoped it would be soon.
I walked out of the closet once I was done putting on my pants, Bella walked out of the
washroom as I reached the right side of the bed. I moved to lay on the bed, with my back
against the headboard and Bella moved to the other side of the bed, coming to lay on the left side of the bed. I opened my arms for her to come to lay in them, she smiled at me and she came to lay in them with her back against my chest. I wanted to sit for a bit and talk about the night with my family. I turned towards her with a big smirk on my face "So how do you feel after having dinner with my family? Was it as terrible as you thought it was gonna be?" I asked her. She turned towards me, and she smiled at me, "It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Definity a lot better than I thought it would be, especially for Brett. I knew your parents were in love with him but wasn't sure about how everyone else would react to me, let alone him. Sure that your soulmate having a kid when we met wasn't the idea your family had in mind for us meeting for the first time. But i'm happy that things went well with everyone, especially your parents. They were my biggest concern." She said to me, she turned her body to the side so she was facing me more but I turned her a bit more so that she was completely chest to chest with me, and could make eye contact with each other, rewrapping my arms around her and bringing her closer to me.
"I can understand that, i'm just happy that you feel better now and that you had a good experience today and that Brett was able to get along with Anthony and with everyone else. I hope that you can get more opportunities to spend with and get to know them all, especially Rosalie, Alice and my mom." I said to her. She leaned her head back and tilted it to the side to see me better, "For sure, I think that I will for sure get along super well with them, hopefully I can get the chance to hang with your mom at least within the next few weeks. Think that would be great." she said to me. I smiled thinking about my mother and my Bella spending time together and becoming close together. Hopefully she also got close to Rosalie and Alice as well, but it seemed she would probably get along better with Rosalie, just hoped she and Alice would be okay. I knew how Alice could get like, just hoped she didn't rub Bella the wrong way.
"Hopefully Brett and Anthony can get together as well, they seemed like they really got along tonight. Maybe Brett, Anthony, Rosalie and you can all get together and have a play-date/Mom-date. Think that you ladies and the boys would get along really great." I said to her. She shook her head in agreement, "I think that they would be a great idea. Especially for the boys, I think it would be good for them to spend time together and get to know each other, hopefully they become really good friends as well." She said to me. I tightened my grip on her, moving my left hand to her lower back and my right around her shoulders to bring her closer to me, leaned forward to give her a kiss on her cheek. "What was that for?" she asked me with a smile on her face, I smiled back at her before moving my left hand to hold her chin and tilting her face upwards to kiss her on the lips, I tightened my grip on her again and deepened the kiss.
Our kiss started off slow and passionate before moving onwards,lifting her up a bit and bringing her up on lap, bringing her legs to bend and rest on the sides of me and deepened the kiss, sliding my hands the rest on her waist and keeping them there. I didn't want to overstep with Bella but I did want to enjoy kissing and holding her for sure, I would follow her lead going forward and just hope that everything we did going forward as a couple we could discuss as a couple. We sat there making out for a bit, getting more into it and getting more handsy with each other. She leaned back a bit from me, giving me three chaste kisses to cool our makeout session down before resting her forehead against my shoulder. I kissed the side of her forehead, smiling nervously at her. "Was it bad? I hope that it was good for you, cause it was for me. " I said to her. She leaned back so she could look me in the eyes, and smiled at me, "Everything that just happened was great. Promise." She said to me.
"Good."I smiled at her, sliding down with her still on me,leaning into her, for her to lay her back down and me lean over her, smiling at her. "Think it's time that we head to bed and try to get some sleep ourselves. What do you think?" I asked her. She smiled back at me, moving her hand to hold against my cheek, "Yea, we can do that. I'm just happy that we have each other now." she said to me. She leaned up and kissed me again, "Good, I am too. We ain't gonna lose each other either, promise." I said to her, leaning in and kissing her on the lips once again. I moved to lay on my side next to her, placing my left arm over her stomach and my right under her pillow. She turned on her side as well, to face towards me, leaning into me to have her face under my chin and being chest to chest. "Goodnight my Bella" I said to her. "Goodnight Emmett, thanks for the best day ever." She said to me. I kissed her forehead in reply, closed my eyes and fell asleep.
