Chapter 11
Broadway
Broadway's POV
"Hi!" Alex toddled into the kitchen.
"Heya, Alex. What're you doing?" I asked.
"Uncle Lexington is gone and I'm bored." He said.
"Why don't we do something?" I said.
"Ok." Alex nodded.
"Let's make soup." I looked in the kitchen.
"Soup?" Alex repeated.
"Yeah, we'll make soup then… we'll make cookies or something." I thought.
"Double chocolate?" He looked at me.
"Sure, whatever you want." I got out some vegetables.
We started cooking. I taught him how to peel carrots and potatoes. He got through it without any nicks. I boiled the water. Then we chopped up the carrots and potatoes and put in the water. I added some diced tomatoes and onions. We let it simmer while I browned the meat. The soup was coming together. We seasoned the broth and put the meat in. Then it had to simmer some more.
Alex got out the ingredients for the cookies. I read the recipe out loud and we followed it. Soon we had the dough. Then we put them on the pan. Alex had fun making little balls. I put the pan in the oven. Angela came in from patrol.
"What're you here?" She asked.
"We made cookies!" Alex smiled.
"They're in the oven. The soup should be done." I tasted it.
"I helped make soup too." He added.
"Really?" Angela smiled.
"Yeah." He nodded.
I dished up some soup for us. After we ate, the oven beeped and the cookies were done. I got them out. Alex took one and ate it in front of the TV. Angela helped me with the rest of them.
