Chapter 15

Cara was getting use to being stuck where she was the past couple of days. She even had access to clothes and showers with Spike agreeing to help her while she was there. Cara went back into Spike's place wearing women's t-shirt, jacket, and jeans. Luckily, she had her money on her which she wasn't sure where it came from.

Spike looked up at her walking towards him. "I still don't understand why you won't tell me anything," he looked at her.

"I'm not about to screw everything up," she answered him.

"How would you?"

"Even if I wanted to, it would change everything. I can tell you that Dru never loved you from the moment she made you who you were. If she truly loved you, she wouldn't have cheated on you or left you," She looked at him.

"I'm starting to see that," Spike took a step towards her.

"Do you honestly think you can change?" Cara asked.

"I know what I'm capable of pet," Spike answered her.

"Vampires usually have some sort of gift like Dru can obviously see the future. Maybe with you, it's having human emotion, some of those traits must have stuck with you when you turned," Cara said guessing.

"You seem to know a lot," he sat next to her.

"I was more of a bookworm than just a slayer. This is only a theory for vampires sit may not be completely accurate. I know it's an unusual combo besides my only hobby was martial arts," she explained.

He was impressed with her intelligence listening to her explain things. She was different and wasn't like any woman he had met so far. "So what is your job normally?" He asked her.

"Detective for the police department. If you really want to know then you can figure it out. I will say vampires have good ways of tracking scent."

Spike stood up getting closer to her finding any familiar scent on her. "Standing there looking at me isn't going to work," Cara advised him.

She pulled him in a hug catching him off guard slowly wrapping his arms around her. The feeling of holding someone was something he had been longing for. He closed his eyes a moment holding her. Then a familiar scent came to him noticing it was his own. Spike pulled back to look at her beginning to figure it out without her telling him. Tears formed in his eyes a little with the surprised looked on his face.

"I don't think this would mess with anything if you figured it out. Me saying it would be a complete disaster," Cara explained.

"I can't believe it's you," he said surprised.

"This shouldn't stop you from living your life. I'm stuck here due to some idiot with a spell book. You can change Spike, you already started when you started to fall in love with Buffy even without a soul." Cara explained.

The door opened and Buffy had let herself in. "Spike? Are you crying?" She asked him a little confused. Buffy noticed Cara standing next to him.

"You must by Buffy," Cara said seeing her.

"You are?"

"A friend of Spike's, I know this sounds crazy but something put me here. I'm not from this time." Cara explained.

"Time travel?" She asked her.

"Possibly about six years ahead of schedule."

"She is telling the truth," Spike confirmed that with her. Buffy looked at Spike then back at her.

"You may not see it now, but he is capable of changing. Vampires have their certain abilities, I believe his is being able to feel human emotion among other things. He's not like the others," Cara explained.

"How can that be possible? He's just a vampire a thing." Buffy was confused.

"He's not I've seen it, it's up to you if you want to believe it or not." Buffy stood there thinking a moment about what she said. She noticed something about her that was different than most.

"Are you a slayer?" She asked her.

"Yeah, I'm one of the oldest living being thirty. Most don't go past twenty-five, looks like you did your very fortunate," Cara said nicely.

"How did you figure it out?" Buffy asked curiously.

"Well it started when I was young when I broke things reconizing my own strength. I read a book about it and it seemed to match the qualities. I didn't fully learn until a little later in life than I should."

"It's nice to finally run into one well besides Faith, shes a little crazy," Buffy said thinking a moment.

"I've learned, it's not about how much better you are than people. It's about saving the world by kicking their ass and getting the hell out of there." Cara said sitting on the bed.

"I was almost started to worry about why I didn't see Spike around lately," Buffy replied.

"I found her wandering the graveyard," Spike looked at Buffy.

"Wait a second, you tried to go after me. Do you have a chip in your head?" Cara asked him.

"That's because I wasn't really trying to physically hurt you," Spike answered her.

"Unless you got lucky and got a slight malfunction. You were also in vamp phase too," Cara said guessing.

"I have to go I got to help Dawn," Buffy said leaving.

"If I don't see you again see ya," Cara replied. Buffy smiled back at her a little before leaving.

"You should help her," Cara looked at him.

"What about you?" Spike asked her.

"There is no guarantee that I will be here Spike. You need to help her," Cara told him.

He left leaving her there helping Buffy hoping she would still be there when he got back. Spike only wished that she could stay with him for his sake. Cara laid down on the bed taking a nap for a bit. Spike did come back seeing her napping on the bed relieved she was still there. He knelt beside her seeing her asleep on his bed. "As much as I want you to stay, it can't happen. I'll be waiting for the day that I see you again," Spike said as she slept.

Then all of a sudden things started to change putting her back to her time. She ended up in Angel's office on the floor. Cara got up seeing everyone looking at her. "Ok this is awkward," she stood there.

"Thank god, we got you back" Spike pulled her into a hug. Cara hugged him back still feeling slightly confused.

"How long was I gone?" She asked everyone.

"Eight hours," Angel answered her.

"It was three days there," Cara said trying to remember.

"I was worry love, you just disappeared," Spike kissed her lips. She pulled back to look at him.

"Eight hours?"

"It seemed someone had gotten a hold of a book in here not thinking it was a spell book and that's how you disappeared." Wes explained.

"Angel you need a safe for those," Cara looked at him.

"I have one and they are locked away," he assured her.

"Now we can try to figure out how to kill Drake now, that guy kinda creeps me out," Cara admitted.

"We were thinking he may have something to do with that letter," Angel looked at her.

"Well, if he starts sending flowers and candy then Spike will kill him," Cara looked at him.

"Just trying to figure out how pet." Spike's hand was still in hers holding it, Cara could tell he had missed her.

"There's got to be something that can take him out. He is a different species," Cara replied.

"I have suggested a few things like burning, holy water," Wes replied.

Cara sat on the couch trying to figure out what they could do. "Wait a second, I'm not completely knowledgeable about genetics as much as I should be but if we could figure out his DNA maybe we can find someone who is smart enough to create a virus. That could tell us what weaknesses he has and what can be used against him." Cara explained.

"Sounds like a plan," Angel said agreeing with the idea. He stepped out of the office leaving them there.

"I may know someone with that kind of knowledge," Wes said getting on the phone calling around.

"Good call love," Spike sat next to her kissing her briefly on the cheek.

"Hey thanks," Derek came in tossing her the keys.

"You didn't wreck it ot anything?" Cara questioned him.

"Treated it like a baby," Derek replied.

"Is it my hell cat clean? I am going to make you clean it if it isn't." Cara's tone was firm.

"What car is it?" Spike looked at her

"Dodge hell cat seven hundred forty eight horsepower, it's a fast car," she answered him.

"So what are we doing tonight?" Derek wondered.

"Patrolling until Wes can come up with a solution on the other guy. Why don't have anyone else to bug?" Derek rolled his eyes at her.

They got up heading out to the graveyard with Derek tagging along. Spike and Derek talked some while Cara was roaming around looking for any vampires around. She continued to walk going out of their view into the wooded area. Drake appeared in front of her causing her to stop.

"Not you again," she hesitated.

His eyes met hers staring at her a moment remembering the woman he fell in love with decades ago. His hand started to slowly reach for her until he heard Derek calling her. She looked back the other direction then turned her head to look and Drake was gone.

Cara stepped out of the woods walking back into the graveyard. "Where did you wander off to?" Spike asked her.

"Woods," she answered him. A random vampire came their direction. Derek grabbed the stake from her fighting him off and staking him while he withered to nothing.

"Derek, we got another one coming," Cara said sensing another one.

"Where at?"

"Behind you." Spike was impressed for him not being a slayer how good of a fighter he actually was.

Cara used Spike's shoulder for an arm rest while his arm was around her. They watched her brother fight off another vampire along with killing him. After a while, all of them went back to Angel's apartment. They sat around on the couch while Angel was on the phone watching the television. Cara rested her head on Spike's chest cuddled with him.

"Thanks for doing my job," she looked at Derek.

"I didn't mind it." Derek shrugged.

"It really worried me when you were gone," Spike looked at her.

"Well I figured that you were probably panicking."

"I never realized what it would be like without you until that happened." He held her close to him .

Cara's phone had started to ring, she picked it up looking at it. "Hello?" She got up taking it into the other room. The phone conversation was all about why she wasn't out much or about the guys that were out at the bar. The conversation felt like it took forever while her friend did most of the talking. Finally, her friend was done talking as she walked out to the front.

"Was that mom?" Derek asked.

"No, just a friend that wasted about thirty minutes of my life," Cara answered him. Her phone beeped and she was assigned to go to a drug dealer house.

Angel was still out of the room and Cara had to go to a drug house. "Gotta go to a drug house," Cara said grabbing her gun making sure it was loaded.

Spike left with her going to this place outside the city. The place looked abandoned but there were complaints of disturbances coming from there. The cab dropped them off near by having them walk the rest of the way. The front door was locked but the police had a search warrant. Spike was able to easily pick the lock with something he had in his pocket. He got the door to open going inside noticing how dark and musty the place looked.

"Can't tell if it is dust or coke." She coughed some.

"More so dust," Spike answered her.

They kept walking around seeing some light in the house. "Not sure what was heard in here," she said shining her flash light around.

Something started growling causing them to stop. It was another one of those animal demons they have ran into before. Cara had a little bit of a different hand gun that did more damage. It came charging at them, Cara jumped up in the air side kicking it causing it to fall to the ground. She pulled out her gun aiming right at where the great is pulling the trigger. The bullet went directly in but she needed to shoot it one more time. Cara pulled the trigger again shooting at the same spot hitting it causing a bright light and it turned to ashes.

"Not bad," Spike looked at her

"It works." Cara put her gun in her pocket.

Spike followed her while they kept walking around. They saw a couple of random vampires they both ended up fighting off. One was still fighting Cara, Spike tossed her a sharp stick he found on the ground. She caught it punching the vampire staking it. They walked around investigating every part of it not finding anything else.

Cara made the call to the department not finding anything. Both her and Spike knew the truth telling the police otherwise. They headed back taking a cab to Angel's near home. He gave her a key to get in just in case he was gone. Spike opened the door noticing her brother had left. The lights were off and Angel must have been out. They went into the guest room shutting the door locking it.

"Nothing special but a couple of vampires and one those animal things," Cara said taking her shoes off.

Spike had is jacket off along with his shirt coming up to her. The bed moved a little while he sat down next to her. Her hand rubbed along his face as his attention was on hers. He grabbed her hand kissing it holding it in his. Spike leaned in kissing her lips. Her arms wrapped around his neck while he lifted her up setting her on top of him. Spike felt his need growing wanting her tugging at her clothes. They both stripped down to nothing allowing their bodies to be close to one another.

He was on top riding her at a steady pace grabbing the top blanket behind him covering them up. She could see the love in his eyes when she looked at him. The way he made love was very gentle and loving towards her. They would kiss as he continued to thrust in her deeply. Every moment, they were intimate was always one of many of his best moments he has had with her. "I love you," he said breathing heavily.

He made sure her needs were met as they made love. When they finished, as usual he held her close to him. "You sure you're not going to get sick of this?" Cara asked curiously.

"Never love, I'll always want you. No other woman compares to you," he kissed her cheek.

"That's because you didn't look hard enough," Cara said giving him trouble.

Spike could handle her smart remarks and attitude. Anything that she would say or do didn't seem to phase him much. " You trying to piss me off?" Spike wondered.

"I'd rather be pissed off than pissed on." Spike kind of laughed at that. "Thank my brother for the humor."

"Watch your self slayer," Spike looked at her.

"What are you going to do try to kick my ass or bite me?"

"Fight you no, you mean biting you like this." Spike moved down to her neck placing a kiss instead. That kiss alone gave her goosebumps as he held her. Something about it made her want him again. Cara leaned in kissing his lips deeply catching him off guard.

Spike pulled back to look at her. His hand brushed along her cheek feeling every emotion he had in that moment. He pulled her close feeling her warmth up against him. "Don't leave me," Cara looked a him.

"Never." They kissed making it another night of love making until they went to sleep. The next morning they would awake in each other's arms. He would leave kisses on her neck waking her up to get her up for the day. Both of them wished they could lay like this for the rest of the day not having to get up. Eventually, they got out of bed, Cara got up getting ready for work.

Both of them made it to the office, seeing police surrounding a dead body. Someone had came in and were murdered looking like the rest of the bodies she had seen. In this case Cara had to be in charge while Angel had everyone go home due to the circumstances.

"Someone must have came here and they were followed." Angel said coming up to them.

"How long have they been here?" Cara questioned him.

"Since seven this morning." Angel answered her.

"You think he know's she works here?" Spike looked at Angel.

"I don't know."

"Has anyone giving these guys any direction? There is usually someone telling them what to do here."

"No, I called the police and they just shown up with their guys." Angel looked back at them.

"I'll take care of it." Cara walked their direction starting to shout orders. "You need to be out of here at a certain time and we need to get this cleaned up." She replied.

Spike looked back her direction hearing her talking to them. It interested him that she could be sweet one minute and bossy making sure the job is done one minute. He knew being a cop was being tough which fit her description.

"Need me to do anything else?" She asked Angel.

"No you're good, he assured her.

"Spike?"

"You're fine love." He looked at her with love in his eyes.

"Ok shit it together people," Cara said going back to what she was doing. Spike snickered at that a little hearing her. At this moment, he felt like he was completely lovesick over her just watching her.
