Hello everyone! I hope you've had a good week, I have two announcements to make actually!
1: I think I'm going to have this one updating on Saturdays and the Brother's Promise updating on Sundays. I can't promise it will always be consistent. But those are the days I'm aiming for.
2: This story and a brother's promise have a instagram page! It's under the name miniguard26 so if you would like to see art for the characters and the fnaf characters that's where you can find it! I even have tentative plans to start doing some short comics using my ocs and the fnaf characters so, I'd you are interested go ahead and check it out! It's still in the early stages but I have a few posts up already!
So, those are my announcements, I have been meaning to talk about the insta page for a bit now but kept forgetting.
Anyways...onto the reviews...
PK - SPRINGTRAP HUG MEH: Thank you for understanding! Also as for the Puppet hiding in G.F? I have not heard of that before so it likely won't be implemented here.
TU4QU0I53T4IAN6L3: You are correct! it was Acid who braided Foxy's wiring. (pretty sure he has a few screws loose in his own head, but ya know...) as for the toys not being hostile? Well I was thinking and logically they are made for children, so, a child would take more priority in the situation. And we shall see how the situation impacted Fritz going forward, I hope to also go into more about each of the children in the future as well. And yes, my intention is to make Enix more buddy with the toys like how Leo is more buddy with the originals. I'm glad you are looking forward to it!
Fantom Knight: I'm glad you thought it was funny! And that you thought the conversation was sweet, it is nice to have sweet moments as well amongst all the angst and stuff. And yes, in Fnaf always suspect purple guy first.
SilentAmbiance: I'm so glad you loved the chapter! And yes, I will do my best to ensure that happens! Also at their cores? Yes they are kind, but as you said programming so, hopefully that can be dealt with soon! And YES, my goodness Enix is SO much better with kids then Leo. Leo...is intimidated by a lot of things. Kids included...and yup! You got his name right, Acid it is. I'm glad you thought so, and sorry for the typo! I try my best to edit the chapters before I post them, but some things slip through the cracks. And thank you!
Luckyshot8: Tragically, I do not remember this, and I couldn't find it when I was looking through the chapters. But if he did, at the moment Leo was very concerned for his safety, his offence takes back seat to his safety in those times. But otherwise? Yes he would be very offended.I own nothing but my characters and ideas
Chapter 29
Of Roommates and Owners
"The * * Enix!" the newer guard jerked back suddenly at the sight of Leo in the doorframe. He slowly raised his hands in surrender.
"Uh...sorry?" he offered, and the smaller guard huffed and hobbled over to his chair again.
Enix watched as he sat down with another huff and adjusted the sleeve of Jamie's shirt, the Bonnie head was on the ground next to him.
The newer guard tilted his head and came in, "you alright there?" Had something happened when he had been dealing with the toys?
"This is weird." The guard admitted gazing at the wall in front of him, Enix frowned.
"Weird?" He asked, leaning back against the wall behind him and crossing his arms.
"I...I should be the one who is out there...dealing with them. I'm the head guard...that's MY job..." he frowned, "I hated last night...hearing all those noises but knowing I would be unable to help." He muttered, crossing his arms, only to grunt and have to put them back on the arms of the chair again.
"...were...you concerned for me?" Enix asked slowly with a bit of a smile. Leo stiffened up and glared at him.
"Oh please, if anything I was concerned that I would have to get used to another stupid guard." He grumbled turning away. Enix chuckled and patted his shoulder making Leo jump.
"Well, thanks for the concern boss. But I wouldn't be too worried about being useless. We all have times that we need help, and right now you need mine...including this whole eating issue you seem to have." He added with a raised eyebrow. The older guard growled, tensing up and taking a breath.
"I don't know what you are talking about." Enix just chuckled at that and patted his shoulder.
"Don't worry about it, Jamie and I have every intention of helping you." At that Leo opened his mouth to argue that he didn't need help, but then Enix frowned, pulled up his hand and sniffed it before pushing it away from his face.
"Ugh...Leo when have you last gone home and showered?" He asked looking at him like he was crazy. The guard paused and looked to the side.
"...it was...a while ago..." He muttered looking to the side.
"No, it was never. Leo lives here, with us." the animatronic voice made them jump and look at the door, there stood Foxy, looking unsteady on his feet.
"Foxy! You aren't supposed to be up yet!" The newer guard protested, but the animatronic fox just shrugged.
"I was tired of layin down lad, I've spent most of ma days sittin and layin down." He muttered before entering the room more. Enix pursed his lips before nodding with a breath. "By the way, Fritz said ta thank ya." he said, eye flickering up to the guard.
"Oh, well tell him thanks from me." Enix said, straightening and smiling. Leo however frowned.
"Wait...did you say Fritz?" He asked brow furrowing, however that's when Enix paused.
"Hold up a second..." he looked at Leo and then at Foxy, "did you say that Leo lived here? Not like...worked here all the time live here...but actually live here?" He asked, making Leo wince and send a glare up to the fox. He caught it and winced in return.
"Erm...no?"
"What do you mean you're homeless!?" Enix demanded whipping toward the guard. They were now in the dining room. The bots were sitting on stage, and Leo was sure that he had seen the toys peeking in from their room. The cleaners were due to arrive soon. Jack had called in and said that they were going to be late.
"Er...I wouldn't exactly say...homeless...I mean..." he motioned around from where he sat. "This is my home…?" He heard a soft aww from Chica, but Enix didn't seem so enamored by that concept.
"A restaurant cannot be your home Leo. You are not an animatronic and you are very much alive." The taller guard argued, more empowered by his height over Leo.
"Well I don't exactly have many choices now do I?" The older guard snapped in return, his eyes flickering to the side as he felt his hackles rise. "Look, I am not a charity project for you and Jamie, I am not a sorrowful shelter dog that you need to feed and take care of." He turned to look at him, eyes narrowing, "I am perfectly fine on my own."
"But you AREN'T LEO! And it's frightening that you can't see that! Your arms are as thin as twigs and not in the petite way! Your hair is stringy and unhealthy! You have the darkest circles beneath your eyes that I have ever seen! I thought it was just because you took drugs, but now it's clearly because you have been avoiding eating! For * sake man! There are people here who care about your wellbeing!" Enix barked motioning, the bots turned to look at him wide eyed while Leo tensed his shoulders rising.
"Stop." He muttered his eyes drifting to the ground.
"No! I won't, because someone needs to be frank with you! You. Are. Not. Okay." He loudly emphasized each word leaning forward.
"I am fine..." that was muttered weaker than it had been before, and Enix seemed encouraged by the minimal progress.
"No. You aren't." He said just as firm, but in a softer tone. "And that is okay." He continued, and there was silence for a few moments.
"I...I'm not going to rely on people." The guard finally muttered his hands curling as much into a fist as they could. Enix waited quietly for him to continue, and as expected, Leo took a breath and continued, filling up the silence. "I…I'm not..." He took a breath and looked to the side, "I'm a criminal...I'm a bad guy. I was in jail...I never...hurt anyone...but I sold drugs to so many people...I don't...I don't even know where I came from...I just..." he trailed taking another breath, "I'm not...worth all this attention." He let out a bit of a laugh, "you all...act like I'm some genius...who figured out how to befriend the animatronics...but I didn't...it just...kinda happened. I'm not some miracle worker, I don't know how it happened...it just...did..." he muttered shrugging helplessly.
"Well, believe it or not, you aren't as bad as you might think you are. I haven't been here long, but I can already tell that you care deeply for all the animatronics, and that you would defend them till your last breath." the newer guard came over and took a breath. "Now, let me help you like how you have helped them. I want you to come and live with me." Leo opened his mouth to protest, but Enix raised a hand, "until you can get on your feet that is." The older guard still looked hesitant, but Enix raised an eyebrow. "That way, you can shower regularly." He added, and Leo took a breath looking to the side and then back to him.
"Fine. But only for a little bit alright?" Enix nodded and beamed a smile.
"Perfect! Let's head to my place now...also see if we can't find some clothes for you..." He raised an eyebrow at the sight of Jamie's clothes on him, "probably ones your size as well..." he trailed and Leo looked up at him with narrowed eyes, but before he could respond, Chica stepped forward.
"Wait...does this mean you won't be living with us anymore?" She asked, and Leo looked up at her after a moment.
"Erm...no, not really, but I'm here every day and night, so nothing will really change." He shrugged, but Bonnie then frowned and crossed his arms.
"But what if something happens to you and we don't know about it huh? We would have to deal with having a new guard, and you do realize how frustrating that would be." He griped, and Leo raised an eyebrow.
"Pretty sure Enix won't let me out of his sight, so I doubt anything will happen." He assured and Enix nodded.
"Yup, I'm not going to be head guard here. Too much pressure." He took a breath, "he will be fine, maybe even better. At the rate he is going it will not end well." He told them pointedly, and for a moment they glanced at each other and shifted.
"You'll still be here a lot right?" Chica asked, and Leo nodded.
"Of course."
Leo did not expect anything lavish. Afterall, Enix worked the same job as him, and the older guard was pretty sure his compatriot wasn't getting paid for the times that he was working the dayshift.
Which was pretty much every day.
However, he didn't expect the place to be as small as it was. Leo wasn't sure where he got the assumption, but for some reason he had always assumed that apartment living was nice, and one would have plenty of room.
Enix did not have that.
There was one bedroom, and the main living room/kitchen was barely bigger than the office. There was no laundry in the apartment, and he was informed that it was a floor below them.
Leo didn't really care seeing how he didn't really have any clothes.
Whatever happened to his backpack anyways?
"So, you'll be sleeping on the couch...and well, I mean, make yourself at home I guess?" Enix shrugged, and the older guard looked around and took a breath.
"Er, yeah, thanks…" he trailed before hobbling to the couch and sitting down.
It was strange, sitting in a home. The last time Leo had anything that was close to a bed, it was when he was in prison. And that had been an unfortunate time all around.
But now he sat here, looking around at the home around him. It was small, and clearly only supposed to be for one person...but Leo still thought it was quite nice.
Certainly nicer then the alley he sometimes still slept in...when he did sleep that is.
Leo had never really desired comfort. He had conclued a long time ago that a comfortable life was not one he would be living, and he was at peace with it. But here he sat in a indoor place, with a promised shower, and something other then pizza boxes under him and...well it was really nice.
With a breath he laid back on the couch and gazed up at the ceiling fan. Maybe staying with Enix wouldn't be so bad after all.
Leo had never felt so clean in his life, the shower had been substantially nicer then he ever remembered it being.
Currently Enix was helping him rewrap his busted up limbs, and wincing as he did.
"Leo...these are really bad, are you sure they are even healing properly?" He asked looking up at him, Leo paused and gazed down at the arm that rested in Enix's hands.
"I mean...it hurts all the time, I just figured thats normal. I can't really clench my hand anymore...or move it..." he bit his lip, "but the body is supposed to take awhile to heal right?"
"Not when it looks like you got run over by a semi. And your leg doesn't look much better." He took a breath and rubbed his face, "I wish Jerald had a x-ray machine..." At that Leo paused.
"What does he need a x-ray machine for?" He asked warily, the man who had treated him last had been nice, and the visit was short.
That didn't mean he wanted to go back.
"Because I don't even know how much more your bones are broken! Don't you have broken ribs as well?" He demanded, and Leo shifted in his spot before wincing a bit.
"I mean...yeah, but if I don't think about them they don't hurt as much." He pointed out with his already rewrapped fingers.
"Leo! This is what I was talking about! You can't just go up against these animatronics without a properly healed body! I'm honestly surprised you aren't dead!" He argued and the older guard tensed up automatically.
"Yeah, well I've always had a high pain tolerance." He shrugged looking out the small window that overlooked the street below them. "Don't ask me why cause I donno." He admitted and Enix just sighed.
"Sure, a high pain tolerance is good, but not when it is coupled with complete ignorance on how to care for your own body!" He barked, and Leo hunched his back a bit with a hard breath.
"Is this what it is going to be like while I live here? You yelling at me all the time? Cause if so, then thanks, and no thanks." He huffed and looked up at him from under his bangs. "I got enough of that in prison."
Enix pressed his lips together and took a hard breath.
"No. It's not. But we do need to start getting you into better condition. Or you may have a shallow grave outiside of Freddy's soon enough." He said firmly, and the older guard, too tired to put up a fight just nodded with a breath and slumped back against the couch.
After swearing up and down that he would go with Enix to get a x-ray tomorrow. The younger guard finally relented and brought Leo back to the resturant, it was already open, and they would've gotten there earlier but Enix had insisted upon getting hm clothes that at least somewhat resembled his uniform.
When he had been trying on the different clothes in the store, Leo had been very tense, he had watched Enix closely, watched where his eyes went and how he behaved. He was ready and waiting for the guard to say something about his weight. Especially when Leo realized that with his casts he couldn't button up one of the shirts.
However...surprisingly, the younger guard didn't say a word, besides griping about how many buttons there were.
The outfit they had found looked...professional enough, it was a purple top, and some black slacks...along with a belt. Luckily the older guard had been able to keep his shoes all this time, so all he needed was socks.
He hated the fact that Enix had to pay for him. But there was no way he was able to pay for it on his own. Between the hospital bills and his expensive addiction...it was practically impossible.
Enix had reminded him of that when Leo started to protest, he had also added that Jamie probably wanted his clothes back as well. So finally the older guard relented.
They couldn't actually get a proper size for him due to his height and waist side, so once again Leo had to roll up his pants and sleeves. Though that was also due to the casts he had on as well.
They then proceeded to ride once again on the cursed motercycle, and because of his condition, Leo had to sit in front of Enix again. It was one of the few times that he thanked the maker that he was so small, otherwise it would've been very uncomfortable.
Then of course Enix just had to stop by the McDonalds and pick up breakfast. He proceeded to have Leo carry it, which was awful and uncomfortable. For one the bag was hot...and * it smelled so good.
They had an argument about whether or not to get Leo something, when the older guard finally threatened to walk to the restaurant, Enix relented and only bought something for himself.
The * did get extra fries though.
When they finally did arrive at work, there were a lot of fancy cars in the parking lot, and it made Leo's stomach do a backflip.
None of their regular customers had cars that nice, and there wasn't any nice neighborhoods in this town.
Was it the lawyers…
This was the absolute worst time for them to be showing up. The toys were still unpredictable and Leo never knew what the Puppet was planning. Not to mention Foxy was once again damaged.
Right, he had almost forgotten how much he was going to kill Acid for that.
That guy only had a fourth of his marbles, he should be nowhere near those animatronics.
But reguardless of Acid's inevitable funeral, as Leo hobbled into the pizzeria with Enix holding the door. He bore witness to the sight he dreaded.
Four men in suits along with none other then Carl. Leo had only seen the man a few times since the incident, but still. It was a few times too many.
John was there too, trying his best to look a bit more professional then usual. He had his hair combed back, and was wearing a suit that was clearly about a decade or two old.
They were all sitting at a table, and their appearances were drawing the attention of the other patrons. None of them dared to look too long, but they spared occasional glances and hunched over whispering to their table partners.
It wasn't everyday that people this fancy walked inside of a Freddy's.
John seemed to be pleading with them, clasping his hands before him, his brow sheened in sweat. Whatever he was doing, it certainly wasn't going well.
"Uh oh...men in suits is never a good thing." Enix mumbled as he came up next to Leo, letting the door close behind him.
The guard let out a hard breath and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Yeah...this is my doing...actually." He mumbled and took another breath, "I'd completely forgotten about it."
Enix looked over at him and frowned, "what? What happened?"
Leo spared up a glance at him and took a deep breath, "it...was a bit before you arrived. You know the families that were arguing on Wednesday?" At the nod Leo took a breath, "yeah, well, Carl and I got into it one of those Wednesdays...and well...I got angry...and I nearly had Freddy and the others attack the man..." he trailed off quietly, and Enix blinked gazing down at him.
"...wow." At that Leo nodded, and looked to the side.
"Yeah, and now he is suing the company."
"Leo! Why don't you come over and say hello to our friends?" John's voice made them both look over, Leo tensed as the men turned to look at him.
"Uh, sure thing boss!" He called back, and hobbled over, biting back a swear and wishing he had asked Enix to buy him a pack. "Hello gentlemen." He greeted before taking a seat next to John. They nodded in greeting, but Carl was barely supressing a grin. Leo resisted the urge to flip him off.
"You are Leo Byrd correct?" The oldest man in the middle asked, and Leo nodded adjusting in his seat.
"Yessir."
Getting all formal now aren't we?
Leo nearly scowled at his head companion, he had been so quiet lately he had hoped that he was gone…
Guess he was wrong.
"And you recieved the paperwork?" The man asked again, looking up at him, Leo nodded again.
"Yes, it's in my office now." The man merely nodded and turned back to his folder. He wrote something down that Leo wished he could see.
"Do you understand and agree with the charges that Mister Anderson has filed against you?" He asked, and Leo paused wetting his lips.
"Well, I understand them, but I can't say I agree with them." He countered, and this caused everyone to look at him. He swallowed and offered a small smile before taking a breath.
"Explain." The man ordered, and Leo took another breath, this one deeper. Then he looked up at them and felt himself relaxing as he slipped into a familiar persona.
"I just don't agree with the charges. It says that I threatened mister Anderson with Freddy and the other two animatronics. But sir, you must understand how impossible that would be." He shrugged, "they are machines, animatronics, how would it be possible for them to defend me?" Motioning to the stage, he caused their attention to drift there and watch as the three animatronics jerked around in a very stiff movement. "At the time of the incident, the animatronics were being worked on, so we had our staff members in the suits." He fibbed keeping a straight face, the men looked at each other and then back at him.
"So, someone was in the suit?" The youngest man asked, he sat on the left to Leo. The older guard nodded, but before he could speak he was cut off by John.
"That's what I was saying. The situation was a pure misunderstanding." He sighed, "it was a mistake on my part. We have these things called, springlock suits. They double as animatronics and wearable suits. I shouldn't have had anyone in them, but the stage animatronics were being repaired...and we are so financially strapped right now, we can't afford to have them decomissioned for a day." He sighed and rubbed his face, "Mister Anderson was never in any actual danger, anyone inside those suits is barely able to move at all. Let alone cause any bodily harm."
"Maybe! But he still threatened me! Twice! I have every right to drive this place into the ground!" Carl barked getting to his feet, Leo took a breath and looked up to him.
"Oh really? And then what is your daughter going to think about you getting rid of the place that hold the animatronics she loves? I've seen her drawings, we have them hanging up on the walls behind you. You know how much she loves them, are you willing to take that away from her? Just because a midget gave you an empty threat?" He put his hand on the table, not able to touch it fully because of the casts. "I do my job. There have been no missing children since I have been here. I have lasted a long time, I formally apologize for the incident, but I will go to court if I have to prove my point to you." He didn't know if this would even hold any water to it, was this how things worked? Was he just wasting his breath…?
"Well then." The older guard tensed at Carl's tone, the man smirked at him, "I'll see you in cour-"
"Hold up Anderson." One of the men, the most serious looking one who was on Leo's right. He picked up his stack of papers and aligned them by stamping the bottom on the table repeatedly and then setting the papers down. "You must think of this economically. Yes, everyone in this town is aware of your position, but if you want to continue to have the favor of the town, shutting down the entertainment of this place would disappoint not only your daughter, but many of the resident's children." He turned to look up at a startled Carl.
"However, I know that you won't give up, which is why the Fazbear company is willing to countersue." He got up and adjusted his tie, as Leo's brow furrowed in confusion. John next to him however paled.
"Wh...what are you talking about Alder!?" Carl demanded looking just as confused. The man, Alder merely raised an eyebrow.
"I am talking about counter suing you." He explained calmly, and Carl looked at him and then everything confused.
"On what grounds!? And since when do you speak for the Fazbear company?! I thought you were my financial advisor?" The rich man demanded, and Leo felt like he was watching one of those late night soap operas, with confusing twists all around.
"I am your financial advisor, but as of this morning I am also the CEO of Fazbear corporations." He explained, and Leo couldn't help but slowly raise his hand, he attracted the attention of Alder.
"Um...excuse my incompetence...but...I'm lost…?" John let out a breath next to him and Leo spared a glance at his boss. He was pale and fidgeting.
"I didn't think...the deal would go through..." He mumbled and Alder merely nodded in return.
"It did. George signed the papers mere minutes before we all got here. It seems he did not believe you all would survive to the end of the year. He was hoping that the toys would bring in more foot traffic but it seems that they have not. Foxy's attraction has seemed to, but not enough to be satisfactory." He adjusted his tie with a breath, "so he turned ownership of the company over to me." The man then turned to look at Carl who now looked a bit paler, "and this branch seems to be one of the last ones on it's feet, if you think I'm going to let you sue the guard responsible for the increased reassurance of the public, well, then you are most certainly wrong." At that Leo blinked, reassurance of the public…? When did that happen? What could he have possibly done to reassure the public?
"You can't do this! I'll sue you too! A...and you're fired!" Carl barked, but the man seemed unfazed.
One of the other men, the middle aged one stood up and took a breath, "sir, I suggest we leave now and rethink our plan before you do something that might end with us in a worse situation." He advised, and Carl looked like he was about to blow, before he stormed out of the building. The other three men left and that left all the employees and guests sitting in awkward silence.
The guests soon started talking about the incident, but the employees stayed still gazing at their new boss.
It was strange, overall the man was very calm and well, to be frank, thin. He looked like a bean pole, the only thing about him that didn't entirely seem professional was his curled black hair. Also he was pale, even paler then Jamie.
"I'm sorry...I'm afraid I don't understand." John confessed after a few moments of silence, "it's just...sir, for us this literally came out of nowhere." He continued, and the man nodded after a moment putting his hands in his pockets.
"Yes, I can understand the confusion. I wish George had informed you all about it all. But it seems he was so used to keeping his financial issues under the rug." He took a breath and turned to face them completely. "To be frank, a year is generous, it was unlikely you all would be surviving past the next few months. This is one of the last establishments in the country and corporate is barely hanging on as it is." He took a breath and looked around the building. "This place will need to be redone, remodeled. We now have to focus on gaining profit." There was silence for a few long moments.
"And how can we do that sir? It's not like we are a very expensive place as it is. I mean..." John leaned in after glancing around. "It's not like we serve expensive pizza either."
Leo wasn't sure what the whispering was for...he was pretty sure everyone knew their pizza was terrible.
There was a reason That they had a lot of leftover pizza at the end of the night.
Alder looked around for a few moments before pulling out a blackberry. Then without another word he turned and walked toward John's office.
The manager seemed to get the message and rushed after him, the door shut and the remaining employees stood there awkwardly for a moment.
"Well, that solves that problem..." Enix muttered with a breath, and Leo could only nod stupidly as he took a deep breath.
"Yeah...am I the only one who is still kinda confused?" He asked glancing up at Enix. The younger guard shook his head.
"No, I'm confused too." At that Leo nodded with a breath.
"Right...okay...I guess we get started with the day then?" Enix just nodded in response.
The day went smooth enough, up until Foxy malfunctioned in the middle of his show, nearly impaling a parent with his hook. And from that point on things just seemed to get more hectic.
Jamie came in late that day, when asked about it all the guards were told that he had some family issues that he was having to work through.
Leo suspected that it had something to do with Jeremy being back in town.
There was another fight in the toy room that Enix had to go and break up. Someone was complaining that they got the wrong order and John had to be involved in sorting things out while the patron yelled at Jamie for bringing him something he didn't want.
Leo was about ready to punch the man but Enix removed him forcibly from the room.
Then there was a malfunction with the oven, and Leo would later swear he saw Chica wince at the sound of the cooks yelling about it in the kitchen.
He would have to ask her about that later.
Another set of kids threw a tantrum and this one Leo had to break up, because Enix had been occupied with the kitchen emergency and Jamie was dealing with a few bratty kids who had somehow found their way into parts and service.
Leo couldn't help but wince at the thought of children being in the room where so many people died…
This of course was all in front of their new boss, who had decided to spend the entire day observing the employees.
Leo hated being judged, and that's exactly what was happening.
Once again the evening guard failed to show up, leaving Leo and Enix to once again cover his shift. At that point John had called in Joey and Acid. The two of them came and proceeded to work on Foxy.
Well thankfully Acid didn't, he ran off to who knows where.
By time they arrived, evening had settled and it was past dinner time. So the rush seemed to be over. There were a few customers here and there, still eating or coming in for a late dinner, but otherwise it was quiet.
Several kids had come up and asked why the cove was closed, and Leo had to tell them that the fox was sick each time.
Alder was still there, he was once again talking with John, and multiple times Leo was tempted to go over and eavesdrop, but there were too many witnesses.
So currently he was sitting at one of the tables near the stage, his body aching and his broken limbs angrily pulsing at each beat of his heart. He dreamed of his cigarettes, the sweet relief that they brought. This day had been varying levels of stressful. He just wanted it to be done, but it was nowhere near over.
There was still the night to be dealt with.
He just wished the toys would just calm down. Maybe he was being impatient, but c'mon what else did the guards have to prove?
Leo was about ready to just rest his eyes for a moment, that was all.
But that is when a child decided to give the most annoying squeal as the animatronics started up their show again. The guard stiffened up and huffed a breath. He couldn't even go to his office, they would terrorize him there as well. Stupid Balloon Boy, breaking the door.
Right...the door, he should probably get that fixed before tonight.
There were very few places where he would be left in peace during the day, and so Leo went to one of his least favorite places in the building.
Parts and service.
After making sure no one followed him he ducked inside the room and leant against the wall, sliding down it with a breath. Finally, no children, no Jamie, no Enix. Just...silence.
Well, that was until a static noise filled the room and reminded him of the other being wanting peace and quiet.
His eyes snapped open and he turned to look at Mangle. She was gazing at him ears drooped as she hovered over a spare Chica suit. She had one for the arms of the suit in her endoskeleton hand.
"Er...as you were…?" He questioned more then said, he didn't even know what she was doing. Was she trying to repair herself?
She looked at him before back down at the suit and then made a forlorn static noise. She then moved, her entire broken body shuffling, and Leo couldn't help but tense as he noticed she was shuffling toward him.
"H...hey there...careful alright? There are kids in the building. I...I can leave if you want me too..." he stammered. But she just shuffled over silently, and Leo had a feeling that whatever was about to happen he wouldn't be able to stop her.
The sight was kind of sad really. The way she was forced to walk looked terribly broken and painful, honestly out of all the toys Leo felt the most for her. How painful was it? To have your body torn apart and put back together forcibly? He knew she could feel pain, all the animatronics could.
Finally she was a mere few inches from him, gazing down at him with those pain filled yellow eyes. One of them was on the endoskeleton, the other was on her normal head.
"It...hurts...doesn't it?" He asked after a moment, she didn't respond just continued to stare down at him. Not that he would be able to understand her if she did respond.
He took a breath, "I assume that if I have gotten this far you aren't planning on killing me in this moment..." He trailed, and she failed to respond once again.
The guard nodded, mostly to himself and slumped back against the wall, "ya know, unlike the originals. I don't dislike you guys. Honestly I just want some peace. Is that too much to ask? I mean...I am working with dangerous haunted animatronics. Maybe that is too much to ask. I just...I don't want this to be the rest of my life. Constantly fighting against you guys. I just want...to...be friends with you guys..." he trailed off, biting the inside of his cheek at how pathetic it sounded.
There was a soft static noise to his left and he looked up a the animatronic responsible. She was staring at him a moment her ears drooped. Before she looked away, and very slowly lowered her head onto his lap. He went rigid a moment his breath locked in his lungs as he waited for her to do something...but nothing. After a moment or two he slowly placed a hand atop her head. She gave a garbled growl and he flinched away taking a deep breath.
"Did that hurt…? S...sorry." Leo swallowed the lump in his throat and very gingerly laid his hand atop her head. There were a few moments of extremely tense silence, where he wasn't sure if she was going to eat his hand or not.
But when she didn't respond he relaxed a bit and used his thumb to slightly start to stroke the plastic of her head. The guard doubted she could feel it, and honestly this whole interaction felt strange. Why was she so nice in comparison to the other animatronics? Was it truly because he was busted up? Was that it? That seemed far to simple for the murder animatronic before him.
Honestly, Mangle's behavior was so strange, it didn't particularly make sense, she hadn't once actively tried to attack him, she had actually saved him, listened to him, and now was actively wanting attention from him.
She was acting...well, she was acting like some of the street dogs that Leo had encountered over the years.
There was silence for a long moment as he sat there uselessly stroking the plastic exoskeleton of this dangerous animatronic. But it felt nice, peaceful even. She didn't move, and besides making occasional static noises, she remained quiet.
"We'll get someone to fix you. I promise." He whispered stroking her head more.
I hope you guys liked it!Another Mangle and Leo moment there at the end, and a new owner of the buisness huh? How do you guys think that will play out? Also, you think that they will be able to fix Mangle and the toys programming? What about the guards living together? You think it will go well or end in disaster?
Also, bonus question, I have been trying to think of nicknames for the toys so it will be easier to distinguish between them and the originals, I am open to suggestions, I can't promise all suggestions will be used but I am interested in your guys ideas! Thanks a bunch!
I'd love to hear what you think!
Thank you to new and old followers alike! Your support is so much appreciated!
