Jack and Jill IV
Chapter 29
Jack had nothing to report and by now everyone was tired so they retreated to their bedrooms.
Kate checked his urine bag as she got Rick undressed and saw that it need to be changed. She had done this many times by now so it wasn't any big deal any longer. Till a new thought hit her. She delayed pulling his catheter out. "You can feel this now, can't you?"
"Yes." He was finding that having it removed and the new one go in was indeed very uncomfortable. There was even a touch of residual pain at the tip that eventually went away.
"Shit! …I'll try to be careful." Kate kept an eye on what she was doing and an eye on his face for any signs of pain. She had it out and threw it and the urine bag in the trash. "Trash! What are we going to do with the trash if or when they stop coming to get it?" The bins got dragged all the way to the front gate that was now chained shut.
"We can discuss that tomorrow," Rick said. He watched Kate strap a new bag to his leg and got out a new catheter.
"I'm sorry, I'm really sorry." She just knew this was going to hurt. Thankfully or maybe unfortunately junior wasn't awake so no sex tonight. Certainly not after she inserted this thing. "Okay here we go." Kate pinched the tip and began inserting the catheter. It was pre-lubricated so it slid right in. She tried not to make a mess, but did a little.
"There, all set. Let me wash my hands and I'll get you into bed." Kate left him and didn't hear or see anything. Except when she came back she was stunned to find Rick already in bed. Naked but in bed.
"You did this?" She watched him grin. "WHAT IF YOU HAD FALLEN AND BROKEN SOMETHING!?" she yelled at him. She was furious. He had taken a needless chance and she was pissed as hell.
"The closest hospital is probably in Panama City. GODDAMN IT!" Kate wiped away her tears that had started. She was angry, she was hurting, she was a lot of things at the moment. "I don't ever want you doing something stupid like that again. ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME?" Kate screamed at him.
"I just wanted to surprise you." He thought it was a good surprise. Rick wanted to prove that he was getting better. Granted it had been a bit of a struggle but he had made it.
"Surprise! I happen to hate surprises. Especially bad ones like this." Kate wiped away more tears.
"I'm fine, nothing happened. I don't see the problem." He really had just wanted to prove to her and himself that he was getting better.
"PROBLEM! I LOVE YOU! THAT'S THE PROBLEM!" Kate fell as she sat down in his wheelchair. "Because I love you." She was full on crying now. "I was…pretty sure…I was never going to love anyone after my mom died." She initially had trouble getting the words out. "Then Dad killed himself and everything went to hell. Love wasn't even a dream." Kate wiped the tears away and managed to mostly stop crying.
"Kate." Rick started to move across the bed to try and reach her.
"And if you move another inch I'll break something for you!" Kate threatened and saw him move away from her and back into bed.
"What am I going to do with you?" The old controlling Kate Beckett was gone and she really didn't want her back. The Kate Beckett she had turned herself into was one screwed-up mess with a police record now.
"There's probably a warrant for my arrest out right now. I haven't even tried to contact my PO. GOD can this get any worse?" Kate put her head in her hands and bent over. Maybe she should just go back to crying.
"Call Madam Secretary in the morning. She has connections. You have a job, Kate," Rick assured her. He was doing his best to calm her. He watched her sit back upright and still looked ready to go back to crying.
"Come to bed, love. I'll let you sit on my face." It was too late for intercourse so that just left oral sex. Rick watched her smile and snort out a laugh.
"I'll just have to clean your face afterwards." More work for her.
"But it'll be fun. I promise to give you at least two orgasms," Rick smiled and licked his lips. "Now strip and get up here. I suddenly have a need to taste you."
Kate wiped away the last of her tears and smiled tremulously. She stood up, took her clothes off, and got into bed then sat on him followed by leaning down to kiss him.
"I happen to love you very much too, you know," Rick told her which had her smiling into his lips. "Now be a good girl and crawl up here so I can taste you. I just might even press a finger in your ass just as you come. Maybe your screams will wake everyone up and get them running to find out what happened."
That had Kate laughing. She knew she was vocal during sex. Always had been and he just might get her to scream. She did as he said, crawled up his body, and lowered herself down to him; she moaned at the first touch of his tongue.
He clearly wanted her. He just lacked the muscles to actually fuck her so this would have to do for now. And she did love him. She wasn't sure just how she had reached this point, but she had.
oOo
The President was up early, though truth be told he hadn't actually gotten much sleep even if he had tried. He had gotten word about the number of ships entering orbit and it was worse than he or his advisers had thought. But it was what it was.
Then his phone rang. "Yes?"
"Here they come, Mr. President. Radar shows multiple targets leaving a large number of ships. Too early to say just where but we'll know soon," he was told.
"Thank you." He hung up the phone and dialed a different number. "Here they come. We stick to the plan for now. We'll adjust as necessary."
"We're ready, Mr. President. We still have satellite coverage so orders will start going out immediately." He ended the call on his end to start making sure Phase One was started.
oOo
Kate was making pancakes and since she had two really big guys she was making a lot of them. Rick sat there and watched her while drinking some ice water.
Jayne and Alexis walked in together and a moment later Storm joined them. "Those are ready and the maple syrup is…there." She knew she had gotten out two bottles. "Butter is in the fridge and if you want powdered sugar that's in the pantry," Kate told all of them.
Just as Storm and Jayne took all she had made so far Jack and Jill appeared. "The Amplitur have started their attack. There are sixteen thousand six hundred sixty drop ships presently headed down to land," Jack reported.
Storm whistled and Jayne groaned loudly. "This is using only one hundred ships with an average of twenty-four combat troops per drop ship. This is possibly only a fraction of the total number of troops they have available," Jack added. "So three hundred ninety thousand eight hundred troops just on this trip."
"SHIT!" Kate just ruined two pancakes by burning them so into the trash they went and she stopped to listen.
"Where are they landing?" Rick inquired.
"Still analyzing. What you call North America and South America have sunshine. Europe, Russia, and China are still in the dark. They may be next given this number of ships," Jack speculated.
"So we might be right," Rick said. "I hope we're ready."
Kate went back to cooking since she didn't need to make that many for her, Alexis, and Rick so she was done fairly quickly.
Everyone was finally eating. "They are starting their final descent. It would appear Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas for the United States are the target.
"Brazil, Chile and Argentina appear to be the targets for South America," Jack stated as he continued to monitor what the local radar could show.
"What are we doing?" Rick queried while mostly Storm and Jayne were eating as fast as they could in case anyone came their way.
"So far they are launching a large number of AWACS, a lot of KC-135s, KC-130s. Your aircraft carriers have not yet launched anything that I can monitor," Jack said.
"That's it?" Jayne didn't understand. "So what's the plan here? Let them attack us?"
"Perhaps, yes." Storm suddenly had an idea but was willing to wait to see if he was right or not. That had everyone staring at him. "Just wait."
oOo
The President wasn't good at waiting. He still didn't like the idea that civilians had Jack and Jill but he couldn't do anything out of it. Hell he didn't even know where they are right now, but he knew someone that might know.
"Elizabeth, where are Jack and Jill now?" he inquired.
"One hour outside Panama City. They bought a self-sustaining farm to wait out the war. Knowing Storm it's heavily guarded already even if he did leave everything behind in New York City. I don't know exactly where but if we need to know we can find out."
"Not right now, thank you, Elizabeth." And he ended his call.
She sat there wondering if she should warn them that a team of Seals or Marines might be showing up to take Jack and Jill. But she decided not to.
oOo
"They have landed and all drop ships are retreating to their ships. Likely to get reinforcements," Jack told them all.
"And what are we doing?" Kate was nervous. "Should we just be sitting here? What if one of them landed near here?"
"Nothing has changed," Jack announced.
"WHAT!?" Kate yelled.
"Wait for it." Storm tried to calm her and them. "I have an idea but we're about to see." He endured with ease all the eyes being on him.
"WOW!" Jack was impressed now. "I am monitoring hundreds of jets being deployed. Land-based and carrier-based. Interesting. Several are already supersonic."
Now everyone looked at Storm for an explanation. "Think about it. Thousands of troops that they want to land but like we would do landing on a Japanese held island. You go back for reinforcements and land in the same place," Storm said with a glint in his eye.
"They know exactly where they're going to go and don't have to guess." Rick was smiling since he got it now.
"Devious." Kate got it now.
"It's working." Jack was watching the radar returns and heavily armed F-15s, F-16s, F-18s, and even SAIA 90s from Argentina started shooting down unarmed drop ships filled with combat troops.
"I'm reading CH-53s being launched. Now UH-60 Black Hawks are being launched. This is a lot to cover." Jack had targets all over the place. He was monitoring a lot from North America to South America.
"One thousand and sixty-two drop ships have been destroyed so far. Another four hundred sixty-seven are falling uncontrolled. Roughly half or all of the fighters ordinance have been expended so far," Jack informed them.
oOo
"All surviving drop ships have landed. All of your fighters are retreating. All helicopters are inbound to drop ship sites. …Correction, I have new launching of fighters from all locations. Very interesting. All are going supersonic after launching."
oOo
"I have another one thousand forty-two drop ships have been destroyed and another five hundred sixteen are falling uncontrolled. Troop transport helicopters have all landed. This is very interesting." Jack had never seen anything like this before.
oOo
"Now what are these?" Suddenly something was erupting from the sea and flying inland. "LACMs, very interesting."
"LACMs?" Kate whispered and looked at Storm.
"Land-attack cruise missiles." Storm answered while smiling.
"We still haven't even shot down half of what they sent," Rick reminded them.
"Maybe we don't have to before they stop," Storm offered.
"You people are fast. The first group of fighters are launching little by little. Wait! I've got something else. …I have two F-15s launching from Japan, another two are launching from the United States. Two from Germany and two from the United Kingdom." These launches he didn't at first understand.
Jack provided information to all of them. "None of them are going to any of the landing sites. They are all going up reaching thirty thousand feet and still going.
"You can attack ships in orbit?" Jack looked at everyone but Jill. "Your radar is following and the F-15s are headed back down toward the planet. Your missiles have struck their targets. I cannot analyze just how much damage has been done from here."
"Now what happens?" Kate queried.
"I have B-52s being launched from a lot of places now. Searching… All of them are armed with AGM-86 Cruise Missiles. Land attack missiles." Jack was even more impressed.
"Those helicopters didn't hold troops, they held spotters for the cruise missiles," Storm said. "Save for any Apaches or Cobras. Are they attacking at all?"
"Negative," Jack replied based on what he could find.
"Waiting for the cruise missiles to arrive first, I'm betting," Storm offered.
"The next round of reinforcements are on their way down," Jack disclosed.
"Jeez, does it never stop?" Kate had heard enough already.
Storm shook his head. "This is just the start. Russia, China, and maybe Africa are going to get the same when the sun reaches them. Over eight hundred thousand troops means they'll get attacked as well." Storm could see it coming.
"What you need to worry about is someone afraid they're losing so they drop a nuke somewhere and the air sends that radiation anywhere the wind blows it." Storm could see it. "If not China, India might."
"Bite me! I need a drink." Kate decided now was a good time to raid her stash of vodka.
oOo
Kate was sipping her vodka even if it was just after breakfast. "I have a total of six thousand three hundred fifty-six drop ships destroyed and another one thousand two hundred twenty-four drop ships damaged that crashed some on land and others into the ocean. There have been no new drop ship launches.
"I am reading a large flight of cruise missiles inbound. Now I'm reading the launching of a few attack helicopters and Argentina is launching a number of A-4AR Fightinghawks with no air support. Only twelve are detected. Searching. …Argentina only has thirty-six of these ground attack fighters.
"I'm finding a United States Aircraft Carrier in the area is presently launching 8 F/A-18s. Searching… They are equipped with older infrared bombs."
"Spotters for the cruise missiles are using or will be using lasers to highlight where they want those bombs to go," Storm explained.
"I'm reading a large number of helicopters being launched from Brazil. Based on the capacity of these helicopters I can estimate twenty-one thousand combat troops in total. I'm also finding two divisions from Brazil are underway on the ground. Eight UH-1 attack helicopters are assigned to join them. Also eight Dassault Rafale have been assigned for support." Jack was looking all over the place and trying to prioritize what to tell them and when.
oOo
"Cruise missiles are landing, the Argentine A-4s are ten minutes out and it will be about two plus hours for the Brazil ground forces arrive. The F/A-18s are fifteen minutes out. I can not find any information on damages to the enemy ground forces.
"I am finding radio calls indicating that the enemy ground forces are on the move and have split into three groups. There is talk that there are only those two divisions between them and Brazil and nothing between them and Chili. Argentina has not yet sent any ground forces.
"One division is coming from the West Coast, another from the south, and two from the east converging on the ground troops in the United States. Eighteen attack helicopters are assigned to the West Coast, twelve for the south, and twenty-two for the east. F-16s are presently being launched from all the close airbases in South Carolina and Nevada. Correction, Arizona, and Texas are now included.
"Twenty-two CF-18 ground attack fighters are flying in from Canada. Additional KC-135s are being launched at this time as well.
"My mistake, F-16s are being launched from Alabama, Colorado, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and South Dakota. All of the F-15s are presently on the ground or will be shortly.
"Neither the Amplitur nor the Weave have seen anything like this in our past. Our ability to take a planet has always taken years. You people might do it in days." Jack was impressed.
"Then the Weave fleet shows up followed by possibly a second for the Amplitur," Storm pointed out.
"I have another twelve F-15s starting to fly above 30,000 feet. The last time they did this they fired missiles at the Amplitur fleet. They are not used to being attacked like this," Jack admitted.
"Now we just need to get Russia, China, India, and whoever else to do the same. It's not over yet," Storm commented.
"So maybe we go home sooner than we thought?" Alexis questioned as Storm shook his head.
"Not until we're very sure it is safe. Not just safe from the Amplitur but from riots." Storm stated. "This is just day number one for us. We're hurting them but we haven't won yet. And Jack has stated that only one hundred ships of two hundred twelve are involved so far.
"Plan A is starting to fail so what is plan B?" Storm wondered.
