Beacon sparring room, day
(Dominic vs Pyrrha)
Dominic and Pyrrha were surprisingly on equal footing. Apparently her semblance let's her throw around Dominic like a ragdoll. But since her armor was mostly metal, he could do the same thing. Dominic landed the finishing hit, a smash attack from behind.
"We have time for one more match. Would anyone like to volunteer?" Goodwitch asked.
Mercury raised his hand. "I'm sure we can find an opponent for you, Mr. Black."
"Nah. I want to fight him." he said, pointing at Dominic.
"Mr. Maciel has just finished a fight, you'll have to find someone else."
"It's fine. Let him fight me." Dominic said. He saw this guy with Cinder the first time they met, and based on her temperature alone he knew something was up. Mercury entered the arena.
Dominic started by slashing at his legs. The attack didn't even faze Mercury, who responded by using his "legs" to shoot at Dominic. Dominic defended by using part of the ground as a shield.
Meanwhile, in Ozpin's office
Ozpin was going over the security footage from that night at the docks. Specifically Dominic and Gregory's attacks.
He saw how both the siblings were able to control heat so effortlessly, albeit in different ways.
It looked like Dominic could expel heat without overheating himself. But where did he get the heat? He also appeared to manipulate stone somehow.
Gregory on the other hand seemed to be able to absorb heat and create ice without getting cold. But where did the heat go?
Their weapons were also a bit odd. They didn't operate on Dust, yet they can create elemental attacks. Curious.
There were two possible reasons they were able to do this. 1: They had high-tech weaponized suits. 2: Or they could use magic.
Despite the impossibility, the second one seemed more likely. But how did they get magic in the first place? All the mages were wiped out since before humanity existed, and they weren't Maidens either.
Back to the fight
Dominic was preparing a new attack, he surrounded Mercury with ash. He then used that ash to electrocute Mercury.
VOLCANIC FLASH
After that attack, Mercury surrendered. This didn't sit well with Dominic. He would remember to send his scout to spy on Cinder's team.
Once class ended, Dominic's scout heard Mercury say to Emerald "Learning is so much fun." After the scout reported back, Dominic was approached by Ozpin.
Ozpin's office, afternoon
"I want you to tell me what exactly you and your brother are doing with magic." Ozpin said to Dominic. He would never admit this, but the reincarnate was afraid of the answer.
"I'll tell you, for a price." Dominic said with a coy smile.
"What do you want?"
"Nothing big. It's just, i'd enjoy performing at the dance. I have a feeling that even you would like it. Give me the stage, i'll tell you anything you want to know."
Cinder's team dorm
Dominic's spy made it into Cinder's dorm by following Mercury.
"And finally, Dominic Maciel." Mercury said to Cinder.
"Oh, the guy that defeated the Invincible Girl." Cinder replied. Dominic and Pyrrha have fought in the past, but Pyrrha only won a handful of times.
"He's powerful, but I wouldn't say he's also invincible."
"Do tell."
"He has brutal strength, don't get me wrong. He just broadcasts his attacks, that makes things easier for observant opponents. He leaves a gap between making his attacks and launching them."
The scout went back to Dominic without anyone noticing.
