When the Peacekeepers return it is morning. Peeta and I are forced to walk through the square and to the train station. Everyone is gathered in the square like it is on Reaping Day. Peeta's father or family is nowhere in sight. Everyone stares at us as we walk by. No one dares to do anything about it. We've been caught. Most likely we are heading to our deaths.
When we arrive at the train station we are uncuffed and led onto the train that transported us to three Games. Once we are on the train it starts moving and it's like nothing happened. No Peacekeepers guard us and we are not told to do anything. We find Effie waiting for us in the dining car.
"Effie!" I say as I hug her and sit down. Peeta does the same.
"You two have really done it this time," Effie says sadly.
"What are you doing here?" I ask.
"I was asked, well more like forced, to escort you back to the Capitol," she answers.
"How much trouble are we in?" Peeta asks.
Effie just puts her head down. "President Snow has been searching for you since you disappeared. He is really mad. I can just assume it's not good."
"Do you know anything about Daisy?" I ask hopefully.
"Daisy? Isn't she with you?" Effie replies.
"No. Snow has her," Peeta says.
"I don't know," Effie says sadly. "All I know is that you were to be arrested wherever you were found but to not be harmed, and I was supposed to escort you back." She gets up as she begins to cry and leaves the room. Peeta and I stay to eat the lunch that has been laid out for us. We haven't eaten since yesterday morning so we have no trouble finishing many helpings.
In the late afternoon Peeta and I finally turned on the tv. Just as we were expecting, Peeta and I had made the national news. Our arrest was shown many times and then Caesar Flickerman even did an exclusive about it. The Caesar that used to adore us and fall at our feet and gave Peeta and I nicknames was no longer. Now he talked about the crimes and treason we had committed and called us dangerous. We were no longer the Star Crossed Lovers or the Girl on Fore and the Baker's Boy. We were simply Katniss and Peeta Mellark, a danger to everyone in Panem.
When it came time for bed Peeta and I realized the one precaution they were taking to keep us on the train. We were locked into our bedroom. Really neither of us cared because all we wanted to do was sleep after not sleeping last night. We layed down and waited until the motion of the train rocked us to sleep. Tomorrow we will be in the Capitol. All I can think about is how I need to get Daisy back.
