Ch 15

Yoh's POV

It was already dark when Yoh finally decided to go back home. Since he didn't have his phone with him, he didn't actually know what time it was. Yoh had spent the whole day walking around town, trying to forget the fact that Haruna and Fumi were acting all lovey-dovey on their date at the beach.

It hadn't worked. Yoh was at the moment standing at the edge of the same beach that Fumi and Haruna had decided to go to for their date. Thanks to his sister, Yoh even knew exactly where Fumi and Haruna had decided to meet up- the ice-cream parlor.

Am I a masochist? Yoh thought to himself, chuckling bitterly as he headed towards the ice cream parlor. Of course he knew that Fumi and Haruna had probably gone home already, but there was something that was pulling him forward.

As Yoh came in sight of the ice-cream parlor, he was greatly surprised to see a figure sitting down by the door, huddling with their head down.

Yoh's heart skipped a beat as he recognized who it was. No, it can't be…

"Haruna?"

Haruna's POV

4 hours. Haruna had waited 4 hours out in the chilly day for Fumi. 4 hours of standing, 4 hours of the customers of the ice-cream parlor whispering and laughing amongst themselves as they noticed that the girl they had seen as they entered the shop was still there when they came out. 4 hours of being worried that something had happened to Fumi but still afraid to move from her spot in case she missed him. It was so cold but she had refused to enter the warmth of the ice cream parlor for the same reason. Now, she wasn't doing so good. She felt her nose running, her throat hurt, and she was getting dizzy. It didn't help that she hadn't eaten in hours. When her legs became like jelly, she let herself slide down to sit on the ground, her back to the wall. She placed her head down, trying to stop the world from spinning.

Haruna stayed like that for a while trying to gather enough strength so she can go home, charge her phone, and call Fumi to make sure he was okay. As she was just about to stand up, she heard a familiar voice calling her name tentatively.

Haruna snapped her head up too fast, causing her to become extremely dizzy. She groaned softly, as she closed her eyes and covered her face with her hands. It wasn't even a moment later that she felt someone crouch in front of her, taking her hands off her face.

"Haruna, are you okay?! Are you hurt?! Why are you here? Where's Fumi?"

When Haruna was sure that she wouldn't puke, she opened her eyes and came face to face with Yoh's worried, frantic face. Her heart started to pick up speed, especially when Yoh suddenly cradled her face.

"Yoh! What are you doing here?" Suddenly, Haruna's eyes widened. "Did Fumi send you here? Where is he?"

"Fumi?" Yoh asked, sounding confused. He dropped his hands from Haruna's face and Haruna felt a sense of disappointment. She already missed the warmth of his hands. "I haven't seen him since yesterday. I thought he was with you."

"No, he didn't show up and I'm so worried! My phone died so I have no way to contact him. What if something happened to him?! What if he was in an accident?! I have to go to his house and make sure he is okay!".

With that, Haruna stood up, almost knocking Yoh over in the process. The dizziness became too much though and she almost crashed to the floor. Luckily, Yoh was there to catch her.

"Haruna! You are in no condition to go anywhere except home. I'll go to Fumi's house after I drop you off in your house, okay?".

Haruna nodded, relieved. However, her relief turned into confusion a she saw Yoh crouch in front of her, his back turned to her.

"Um, Yoh what are you doing?" Haruna asked.

"Hop on. You're too weak to walk. I'll carry you to your house."

Haruna vehemently tried to refuse, arguing that she was too heavy and that she already felt better. However, Yoh wasn't taking no for an answer.

As a result, Haruna found herself clutching on to Yoh's shirt, with her face red and her heart beating fast as he carried her. Soon, Haruna found herself nodding off to sleep. It had been a long day for her. Slowly, her head began to lower itself to Yoh's shoulder, where she then buried herself deeper. Unbidden, a happy sigh escaped her as the smell of cinnamon enveloped her once again, just like in the movie theater.

As she fell deeper into unconsciousness, she suddenly felt a light, warm pressure on her temple. A kiss? Haruna thought blearily, but she was too tired to ponder on it any further as sleep dragged her away.
