Okay I am back...I don't really have anything to say. I lost motivation and went on hiatus but after some thinking and I have returned. I. Am. Here.
All jokes aside I've been on a rezero high and that isn't ending any time soon and I lost motivation for this story however...since this is a cross over I have two sources to draw inspiration from. 2020 Adventure really got me inspired to get back into it especially with some of the more recent fights. Agumon's dark digivolution being one of the primary reasons along side his true digivolving into war greymon. I don't care what anyone says that fight with the incomplete Machindramon vs DonDevimon was what I always wanted in a digimon fight. That was a true monster vs monster and the animation of it all was beautiful. Well my Izuku freaking out aside. Here's a chapter. I'm going to see if I can get this story back on track. I need to pound overhaul into the dust and then do the sports festival. I hope you enjoy this chapter.
Marcus looked over the video footage before him. Erika had returned from her scouting of the Yakuza base what she brought back with her was less than pleasing. Aside from the obvious, the runaway little girl who had spotted Wormmon, Erika also acquired some information from the Yakuza's database. The information she showed him however made even the battle-hardened Marcus sick to his stomach. He had seen death before, he had delivered it many times and came close to receiving it just as much, however, what he saw was nothing short of cruel and sadistic torture.
There were a few things that could get under his skin. He had learned to contain himself well during his long life of fighting, yet the sights of children suffering never stopped triggering a reaction. He could feel his anger bubbling, threatening to consume him as he restrained himself storming the Yakuza right now and reducing it to nothing more than a heap of ash…if even that. Marcus took some deep breaths as he tried to keep his calm. "What you're seeing is no longer possible, the kid is safe," Marcus repeated to himself. His rage had once overtaken him before and it had almost cost him his partner. He didn't think it was possible to feel such rage in a long time but that just goes to show, despite his long life, he didn't see everything.
Overhaul was the name of the monster…no…not a monster. Marcus had seen monsters that had more humanity than that man. He abused a little girl as if she was some sort of tool. Marcus watched the clip again as he saw Overhaul harvest her body like some sort of mine and rather than leave her to die he would heal her and revive her at the last second. Marcus would give it to Eri…to even be standing now was a testament to the girl's mental strength. Any lesser person might have tried to kill themselves at a moment's notice after being released…or perhaps she thought even death couldn't save her. Regardless…Marcus would see about sending Overhaul to hell himself so the Yakuza could never get the chance to harm her again.
"So he used her to make quirk erasing bullets," Marcus summarized. That statement is what this ultimately boiled down to but it didn't show the suffering one person had to go through in the process. "I can't imagine the police or heroes would have an easy time handling this," He added. He would often leave the real-world problem to the 'real' world heroes. However this in his opinion was starting to feel like it was too much for them. A world built on quirks could not adequately fight against a force that had the literal counter for them.
This problem was a gamble that would only escalate in his eyes. He didn't know how many of those bullets were made, even if they were prototypes they would still be a risk involved. A hero who got shot would have their career ended almost immediately if the bullet itself didn't kill them. The 'better' the hero, the bigger the loss the society would take if they got shot. There were also reports of the Trigger, a drug enhancement to quirks, being used by the Yakuza. Not only would the heroes run the risk of being crippled, but their opponents' quirks could easily be augmented to even more dangerous levels of power. In other words, you couldn't send newbie or low-level heroes to deal with them.
"Looks like we'll have to get involved after all," Marcus thought, there was no one else who could this without suffering much loss. The question was how. The problem with humans was that they didn't reincarnate when killed…at least not to his knowledge. The Yakuza would be easy to kill with his power, but that wasn't Hudie or DATs way of dealing with things. Looks like they were going to do it the fun way then, erase their memories and drop them in random parts of the world. No way was he leaving any of them in Japan. The memory erasure was not a 100% guarantee after all.
"What about the original boss?" Marcus asked. He was concerned about the old man. People like Overhaul don't just ascend to power like that. Something had to have gone down between the successor and the predecessor.
"While I don't know the details exactly, the old man was recently bedridden," Erika explained as she scrolled through all the data she collected. "However the circumstances are very suspicious if you ask me, he was in perfect health one day, then the next he's in intensive care. There are no reports or incidents that I could find to explain it so I suspect some foul play…but you already knew that" Erika said.
"I'm trying to restrain myself from just nuking the building with ShineGreymon Burst mode," Marcus growled. "How's the kid doing right now?" He asked her. Erika looked up.
"She's currently with Kitty and Wiz," Erika answered with a smile. "She's very fond of Kitty in particular. Eri hasn't let her go since she arrived."
"I can only imagine," Marcus laughed.
Kitty had to admit she was very scared right now. Not because she was afraid of being hurt or anything, quite the contrary she would be happy if she was the one endanger. Kitty was scared because she was hoping she wouldn't mess up her attempts at comforting Eri. She was currently in her Digimon form. She had thought the smaller, white cat form would be more comforting to the girl. Humans loved small furry animals, right? However, she misunderstood just how the girl had reacted. Eri had pulled her into a hug, thinking her like a stuffed animal or maybe a regular cat. It was fine at first but she was starting to feel uncomfortable now but she didn't want to say anything.
"Eri…would you like something to eat or drink?" Wiz asked. Eri started blanking him, not knowing what to say, Kitty however mouthed 'just bring her something filling'. The cat Digimon didn't believe Eri had been properly taken care of, at the very least they didn't think she was fed more than the bare minimum. Wiz returned with some freshly cut fruits and some water for the little girl. "Here you go," Wiz whispered as he offered an apple slice to her. Eri took the apple slice. She stared at it curiously before she took a bite of it. "How is it?" Wiz asked.
"It's…tasty," Eri answered as she took another. Kitty felt a wave of pleasure release from Eri. The kid was feeling calm and safe with them. There may still be the underlying fear of Overhaul hovering over her but she was feeling relieved now. The cat merely smiled to herself as she started to nuzzle Eri and purred contently in her arms. She caught Wiz staring but she just ignored him.
"Oh come on you can do better than that,"
"Save me, save me, SAAAVVVEEE MEEEEE!"
"You call that a rescue attempt,"
"You're not All might,"
"Put your back into it,"
"Wait are you even wearing clothes…put me down…put me down now,"
Izuku had hope for Sayo and his classmates would get along. However, he forgot the most important fact about cyber sleuth she was not a people person per se. She was also not entirely supportive of the whole hero school idea. So when the normally proud girl was put in the spot of a training dummy for his classmates…she was not going to like it. She would play the role of a good hostage stand-in, but she wasn't going to be happy about it and she was going to make it known. Surprising Mr. Aizawa didn't say anything about her behavior but Izuku just hoped Sayo didn't take things too far.
"Don't you ever shut up!" Jiro practically screamed at the girl. She was starting to get annoyed by this girl, unfortunately for her Sayo was finding her annoyance of her amusing.
"Not until 3," Sayo answered coyly. So far she was getting mixed reactions from everyone as well as a general idea on how their quirks worked from seeing it up front. Some of them she had to admit she was rather impressed by but at the same time, she was just left baffled by society as a whole.
She saw one kid whose quirk was just a really above average strength tail. That was it; he had a tail that was functionally another limb with nothing special like shooting laser or stingers. He literally just hit stuff with it. The only thing separating him from Izuku and Sayo physically was the tail. Don't get her wrong, she knew he probably trained hard and was probably a good fighter of the Gi was anything to go by, but what confused her was how such a small difference had affected Izuku. A lot of people had quirks that were purely cosmetic after all; nothing really useful could be used outside some very creative thinking on their part. Yet Izuku was bullied because he didn't have a quirk. It was just strange to her.
"You are so lucky you're playing the victim," Jiro growled. She really didn't like this girl. How was she even friends with Ochaco, Izuku, and Ilda anyway?
"Playing…believe me pretending to be helpless like this isn't easy, besides…I can't just behave…then it will be too easy for you all," Sayo answered. She had mentored Izuku for a few months alongside Marcus; she knew very well how to handle some situations better than most, given her own experience in the field. Life was always more complicated than what the school prepared them for. Sometimes you had to deal with children who would fight you in an attempt to try and get to their loved ones, but human children were bigger so she assumed they would struggle more, much less if it was someone older.
Safe to say Izuku could feel those hopes for Sayo getting along with his class be dashed. He knew she meant well but he was sure the others were not going to like her when this was over. Thankfully the exercise was just about over…and Sayo had pissed off almost everyone in Class 1A.
"Alright, you all are dismissed. I'll give you your results tomorrow," Aizawa said as he looked at the book he had kept their notes in. However, he still had one other matter to deal with. "Sayo, a word," He told his assistant as the other students all left.
"I take it, you're going to scold me for my behavior," Sayo voiced. She knew she had grated several of the students' nerves and she was aware he knew as well. He didn't say anything during the exercise but she figured he was waiting till after to tell her. She was surprised because she thought she was really pushing the levels of obnoxiousness she was allowed.
"So you are aware of it," Aizawa said simply. He hadn't even met her gaze still focusing on the results from his class. "You acted like quite the brat out there," He noted. The girl didn't seem all that worried by the statement. She was actually pretty pleased with herself if he was honest. Aizawa was no fool; he had been keeping notes not just on his students but on Sayo as well. "I'm inclined to believe you were acting out to vent your frustration," He theorized. "Simply put you acted like a big baby because things didn't go your way," He then paused for a second before turning to show her his notes.
Sayo took the book and glanced at the criteria. Aizawa had already written in pen what the rubric for the session was supposed to be. However, she then noticed a last minute addition to the plan that had been added in less legible writing. She smiled as she handed it back at him. "So you did understand the method to my madness," Sayo said.
"Admittedly I almost didn't see it; I would have written you off as just another trouble student before I noticed the pattern," Aizawa said. "You were acting like a brat on purpose. You wanted them to get angry," He said. "You didn't even behave the same way twice. You were a brat overall but you changed your approach with the different groups." He noted. "In the real world the hostages and victims aren't always the most cooperative and how you handle such people can make the job easy or nearly impossible." He repeated. Initially, he would have just recorded the speed, efficiency, and over collateral damage but thanks to Sayo he was also able to see their people skills as well. He would admit some of them would definitely need work if they were to go into the field.
"So, is that all you wanted to say?" Sayo asked. "That I did a good job and was the greatest teaching assistant you ever had," Sayo said with a giggle. Aizawa merely rolled his eyes at this statement.
"Don't get ahead of yourself," He told her. "I'll admit you brought up some good points." He told her. "But that's just it…they were too good," He noted. "It's almost as if you've done all this before," He explained as he eyed her suspiciously. "So tell me…where did you learn all this?" He asked.
"Same place as you…experience," Sayo answered.
"Where did you get this experience?" Aizawa asked. "Are you a vigilante?"
"Ha…I assure you I am nothing more than a cyber sleuth," Sayo said dismissively. "That's the only job for me," She answered. "If you are that curious then you should know that I sometimes have to deal with lost pets, they aren't always easy to work with and I've earned my fair share of injuries from working on the job," She explained.
"I wouldn't say it's the same thing as dealing with people," Aizawa noted.
"Perhaps…but I've also had to do jobs for people who were not always so cooperative. Sometimes a client had expectations of me that were above my areas of expertise and acted irrationally when I explained it would be better for someone else more suited to take the job. Sometimes I was judged because my appearance gave them an impression that didn't match my actual abilities. The point is unlike your students, I've dealt with strangers before so I know there is some variety." Sayo explained.
"Alright…I'll accept that excuse," Aizawa said. "I would like one thing to point out one thing though," The pro hero said. "That behavior of yours might have some good intentions, but they won't see it that way," He noted.
"I thought students didn't come here to make friends," Sayo shot back. He was the one who threatened to expel students because they threatened a training exercise like a game right. So why was he so worried if she was playing brat for his class.
"They don't, but it's still nice to have some people you can trust," Aizawa answered. "Besides…you aren't a hero so I don't expect much from you but keep on this path and you'll just end up alone. Heroes at least have a reason to be alone. What's your excuse?" He asked her. He didn't really care all that much for Sayo personally, she wasn't his problem, but if she was to assist in later classes then he at least wanted her to get along with his class.
"Believe me, I'm never alone," Sayo answered. "But…I'll try to get along…if they give me a reason to think it will be worthwhile," She told him as they walked to the door.
"Fair enough," Aizawa said as he left. Honestly, he really wasn't paid enough for this. Besides...didn't she have therapy with Hound Dog.
Okay it's been a while but I got a serious question. How would you all scale Sayo to the 1A at this point in the story. I'm under the assumption that she can beat most of them since the My hero Academia world is on a rather low power scale compared to others like Digimon and I was just wondering how she'd measure up given her tendency to fight monster and training alongside Marcus. As it stands I've talked with my discord group and they all agree that given her feats so far...she should be above most of the others due to her experience and constant training via cases but what do the rest of you think.
Now I'm not saying Sayo can beat Todoroki but I think she can reasonably fight most of the others in both year 1 courses. There is also her digital nature and digisoul to consider but if any of you interested in knowing more you can PM me, I just really want to make sure I write her properly for the story. So far I've only gotten some positive reviews so I'd like to make sure I don't butcher her later.
Well that's all for now and stay safe.
