Stefan, Damon, Elowen and Elena all walking into the library at the boarding house.
"Okay, let's say that Mikael followed Elena in here," Stefan said as he turned to face everyone else.
"And you what?" Elena asked. "Vervained him?"
"No, we vervained him," Damon corrected. "The guy's an Original. To make it realistic."
"Okay, fine. We vervained him," Stefan continued. "And in the process, discovered that he had a dagger."
"Which he planned to use on Rebekah," Elowen added. "But instead…"
"We drove it through his heart," Stefan finished.
Elena crossed her arms. "And what happens when he asks to see Mikael's body?"
"Good point!" Damon pointed at Stefan. "You, my brother, have been compelled to do what Klaus says. The idea is to lure him back here and kill him. Last thing we need is you getting tripped up and tongue tied."
Stefan shrugged. "Well, don't look at me. I'm just in charge of getting him back here."
"Klaus is smart," Elowen told them all. "If we tell him that Mikael is dead, he'll want proof."
Mikael came into the room. "Then I shall be dead."
"What if he wants to see you in person?" Elena questioned.
"Well, that means our plan is working. Klaus will absolutely want to see my body. You lure him here, and I will kill him."
"With what?" Stefan asked. "Those daggers won't work on him."
"Well, I'm in possession of a stake fashioned from the wood of the ancient white oak tree. The one that left these ashes when it burned."
"Where is it?"
Mikael had a dagger in his hand and he was dipping it in the white oak tree ashes. "Not here. The knowing of its location is my insurance policy."
"Against what?"
"You leaving this in my heart. You see, a vampire can't dagger an Original without dying, so, it falls onto you." Mikael handed the dagger over to Elowen, who took it in her hands.
"Wait, you want her to actually dagger you?" Elena asked in surprise.
"It makes sense," Elowen replied. "Stefan won't be able to lie about Mikael being dead if he's still standing." She gripped the dagger and stood in front of Mikael. "Ready?"
Mikael nodded and Elowen lifted the dagger and stabbed Mikael through the heart.
About an hour later, Stefan was on the phone with Klaus. He handed the phone over to Rebekah after awhile and she talked for a moment before hanging up the line. She turned to everyone else.
"He bought it. He's coming home."
"Now, was that easy or what?" Damon asked.
Elowen got down on her knees and took hold of the dagger. "Let's just get this over with."
xxxx
"God, I spent all this time letting Marisol try to get through to Stefan that I basically have nothing to wear to homecoming."
Elowen pulled a dress out of her closet and held it up to her body. Caroline was sitting on her bed watching her.
"Don't worry, your best friend is here to save the day! I have plenty of dresses that you can wear hiding out in my closet. I'm not letting this stop you. You're going to homecoming and that's that."
Elowen laughed and came over to sit next to Caroline. "God, what would I do without you?"
"You'd fail miserably."
There was a knock at Elowen's door and both her and Caroline's smiles slipped off of their faces when they saw Toby standing there. Nobody had really talked to him since the night of the bonfire. Who had even invited him in? He hadn't been in the house since being turned into a hybrid, so someone had to have let him in.
"Hey," he greeted meekly. "Eliana said I could come in. She told me I could find you up here."
Caroline cleared her throat and stood up. "I'll go see what Josiah's doing."
She walked past Toby and left him alone with Elowen. Toby slowly closed the door once she was gone.
"What's up?" Elowen asked. Toby walked over to her with his hands in his pockets.
"I'm not here for small talk. This has been eating me alive ever since I became a hybrid and I just, I need to tell you before it drives me insane."
Elowen furrowed her eyebrows and got up from her bed. She came to stand in front of Toby. "Sire bond aside, you're still my best friend. What's wrong?"
Toby stared at her for a few moments before taking his hands from his pockets, grabbing Elowen's face, closing the gap and kissing her. Elowen made a sound of protest and pulled back. Toby quickly tugged her back in and planted his lips on her again. This time, Elowen let him kiss her. His tongue immediately slipped into Elowen's mouth and he passionately made out with her with what felt like forever. Elowen's mind had gone hazy from the intensity of his kisses. They took her breath away and for second, she forgot all about Stefan and Damon. The kiss got more and more fervent, but at the same time, sloppier and sloppier. He broke away from Elowen's mouth and started trailing wet kisses down her neck. Elowen breathed heavily and felt Toby pushing her backwards onto her bed. It wasn't until her back landed onto the mattress and Toby's lips were on hers again did her brain finally catch up with her. She placed her hands firmly on his chest and pushed him away. He tried leaning back down when Elowen crawled out from under him. It took a minute for her to catch her breath.
"What the hell was that?"
Toby was panting as he pushed himself into a sitting position. He swallowed. "Before, when I was just a werewolf, I was able to keep my feelings for you at bay. I was able to push it to the back of my head and forget they were there, but ever since I became a vampire, I can't stop thinking about you. You're in my head 24/7 and I can't get rid of you. I was able to accept that you just saw me as a friend, but now I can't. And the jealousy. I was able to ignore it, but now whenever I see you with Damon, all I want to do is rip his head off. I mean, if you thought I couldn't stand him before, you should feel what I feel when I see him now. He doesn't deserve you, Elle."
"Your emotions are heightened now that you're a vampire," Elowen explained as she pushed herself farther up her bed and away from Toby.
"Damn right they are. I'm in love with you, I'll admit it, but now I'm so head over heels it hurts. Please, just, please…"
Elowen shook her head. "Toby, I can't."
"But, we were so happy when we were together. Remember? Elle, please."
"I'm sorry. You know I don't love you like that."
"Maybe you could learn to!" Toby tried moving up the bed towards Elowen, but she tucked her legs under her to stop him from touching her in any way.
"Toby, listen to me. As time goes by, you'll be able to control your emotions and then you'll be able to deal with them easier." She sighed. The last thing she wanted to do was hurt him, but she didn't know how else to say it. "You're my best friend. You have been since we were 6, and my best friend would understand his boundaries and not cross that line. The last thing I want to do is lose you, but I can't force myself to love you the way you want me to, and if you can't accept that anymore, then maybe we shouldn't be friends."
Toby faltered and started backing away from Elowen. The thought of losing her crushed him and now he was torn. He wanted her more than anything, but at what cost? Her? He stood back up and didn't say anything. The silence was deafening and Elowen just wanted him to say something. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door and Caroline peeked her head back in the room.
"Homecoming isn't going to wait for you, Elle. Did you want to see the dresses I have or not?"
Toby tore his eyes away from Elowen and looked at Caroline. He cleared his throat. "I'll, um, I'll go, so you can get ready. I'll just… see you later."
Caroline and Elowen watched as Toby squeezed past Caroline and headed for the stairs. Caroline turned to Elowen.
"Are you okay?"
Elowen held a finger up to her lips. She got up from her bed and walked over to her window. She peered through the blinds and watched as Toby got into his car and she didn't speak until he was gone.
"You heard all of that?"
Caroline nodded. "Yeah. Poor guy. I understand what he's going through. When I first turned, my feelings for Josiah magnified and I couldn't get him out of my head for the longest time."
Elowen crossed her arms. "Do you think he'll come around?"
"If he loves you as much as he says he does, he'll come around. He won't be able to stand the idea of not having you in his life."
Elowen sighed. "So, how about those dresses?"
xxxx
After picking out a dress, Elowen had headed over to the boarding house. Her, Elena and Damon were all in Damon's room preparing weapons for later that night.
"We can't trust Rebekah to not turn on us," Elena said as she picked up an empty grenade.
Damon was over in the bathroom, mixing wolfsbane in the sink. "Oh, really? 'Cause these Original vampires are usually so reliable."
"I think she'll stick to the plan," Elowen spoke up from next to Damon, using the other sink for vervain. She looked up in the mirror and saw the look Damon was giving her. "What? I really think Marisol got to her. I trust her."
"Rebekah may be mad at Klaus now, but he is her brother," Elena pointed out as she came into the bathroom.
"Her lying, mama killing, dagger happy brother," Damon countered. "Wolfsbane is ready."
"So's the vervain," Elowen announced. She took one of the empty grenades from Elena and started filling it up.
"There are too many things that can go wrong with this plan," Elena told them. "Too many people that can make it go wrong."
"Well, I am formulating a secret contingency plan," Damon said as a matter of factly as he filled another grenade with wolfsbane.
"Really? What is it?"
"Well, if I told you, then it wouldn't be a secret."
Damon pointed to his ear as Stefan came around the corner.
"I need to borrow a tie," he said nonchalantly.
Damon rolled his eyes. "You have your own ties."
"Hm. I'm 162 years old and I'm going to a homecoming dance. I need better ties."
Elena hummed. "You could not go."
"I'm compelled to protect you, Elowen and especially Marisol, and if I look at your track record at high school dances, it's pretty tragic. With my luck you'll go and get yourself murdered by the homecoming queen."
Stefan left as Elena picked up a wolfsbane grenade. Damon quickly slapped her hand.
"Ah! No!"
"I know how to do it! Alaric taught me! Why does Elowen get to help and I can't?"
Damon took the grenade away from her. "Elena, if this thing blows up in our faces, just remember, only one of us heals quickly. Alaric is Elowen's dad. Of course she knows what she's doing."
Stefan returned with a few ties. He watched them fill up the grenades. "Please tell me you have a better plan than wolfsbane and vervain grenades?"
"Nevermind you, brother," Damon told him. "The less you know, the better."
"My freedom from Klaus rests entirely upon you two executing your plan perfectly, so excuse me if I'm a bit cynical."
Elowen sighed loudly. "You're the one that we should be worried about. If Klaus asks you one wrong question, the whole thing falls apart."
"You do have reason to worry, but if I look back in our history of epic plan failures, it's usually because one of us let out humanity get in the way. Upon taking odds on how this thing goes down, it's certainly not gonna be me who screws it up, and we all know Elowen's absolutely amazing at separating her emotions, so it won't be her, either, which leaves you two. I'll see you at homecoming. I can't wait."
xxxx
Elowen slowly climbed the steps to Stefan's room and found Rebekah getting ready for the dance. She was standing in front of a mirror, wearing the red dress Elowen had picked out for her.
"Getting a head start, huh?"
Rebekah looked at her through the mirror. "Embarrassing truth? This is my first high school dance."
"Ever?"
"I never really had time for high school before. Nik and I were always moving around, running. Anyway, I didn't want to leave anything to chance. Have you heard anymore from him?"
"No, but I'm sure that when he does return, he'll do it with flair."
Rebekah turned away from the mirror to face Elowen. "And Damon and my father are all set with their plan?"
"Yes."
"Don't tell me. I don't want to know. I just… I want to go to the dance and leave the rest to Mikael."
Elowen sighed when she saw Rebekah's face. "I know it's really hard, so thank you for helping us get Klaus back into town."
"Just be careful. I've been running for a thousand years for a reason. Mikael is not a good person and he definitely can't be trusted. No one in my family can."
"Even Kol?"
"Even Kol, despite the fact that he tried to save Marisol."
Rebekah sniffled and tried to blink away the tears that were forming in her eyes. Elowen frowned.
"Are you okay?"
"I've spent my whole life loving and hating my brother with equal measure. I never thought that I'd be the one to help drive a stake through his heart. No tears, I don't want to ruin my makeup." Rebekah turned back around to the mirror and smoothed her hands down her dress. "How do I look?"
Elowen gave a small smile. "You look amazing, but you're missing one thing." She took the necklace Stefan had given her out of her pocket and showed it to Rebekah.
"My mother's necklace," Rebekah breathed in surprise.
"You should wear it tonight. May I?"
Rebekah nodded and moved her hair out of the way. Elowen reached around her neck and put the necklace on. Rebekah touched it when it was secure.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome. Well, I'll leave you two it."
Elowen turned and left the room. As she walked down the steps, Elena passed her. She didn't think anything of it. When she reached the bottom, something in her told her to turn back, so she did. She made it to Stefan's room just as Elena plunged a dagger through Rebekah's back.
"No! Rebekah!"
Rebekah looked up at Elowen running towards her in the mirror as her skin turned grey and she fell to the floor. Elowen reached Rebekah and had her hands on the dagger with the intention of removing it when Damon sped into the room and pushed her against the wall.
"Damon, let me go! Let me go! How could you? I told you we could trust her!"
"I'm sorry, Elowen," Elena said from next to Rebekah's body. "I couldn't leave anything to chance."
In a fit of anger, a burst of energy was sent through the room, knocking both Damon and Elena off of their feet. Elowen kicked Damon out of the way and stormed out of the room.
xxxx
Elowen had gone back to Caroline's, where they found out the gym at the high school had flooded. Tyler swooped in and saved the day by moving the dance to his place. It only made Elowen slightly nervous. She might run into Toby there.
Her, Josiah, Caroline and Bonnie all entered Tyler's house and found it already bustling with people. Most of them Elowen didn't even recognize.
"How did he plan a better party than me so fast?" Caroline asked as she looked around. "What? Is that a band outside?"
"Who are all these people?" Bonnie voiced the question they'd all been asking themselves.
"This is weird! Where is Tyler?"
Elowen had broken off from them and wandered outside. She stopped just behind Stefan as Klaus took the stage.
"Good evening everyone! I wanna thank you for being here with me to celebrate! It's been a long time coming."
Stefan sensed her presence and turned around.
"I'm surprised you're here," he said. "It sounded like you and Damon got into it earlier. What was the big fight about?"
"Nothing that concerns you."
Elowen looked up and saw Klaus weaving his way through the crowd towards them. Stefan looked over his shoulder and saw him coming. Klaus stopped in front of the both of them.
"Walk with me." It wasn't a question, more like an order, and so Stefan and Elowen did as they were told.
"Quite the homecoming," Stefan commented as they walked through the crowd of people.
"I've been planning my father's funeral for a thousand years. Granted, in no version of it were any of these people invited, but you get the idea."
"So, what now? Stop running?"
"Hm. Now, I reunite my family."
Elowen suddenly gasped and her hand shot out to tightly grip Stefan's bicep. She closed her eyes and held onto her stomach.
"Everything alright there, love?" Klaus asked, glancing over at her.
"Marisol. She's trying to come out," Elowen gasped.
"Why not let her?"
"Here? Are you crazy? She's only trying because you mentioned your family."
"Ah yes, Kol. I forgot, she fancied him."
"She fancied you, too, you know."
Klaus clenched his jaw and quickly changed the subject. "Mikael is gone. Bygones will be bygones once I wake up my family." The homecoming queen passed by them and Klaus noticed. "Seems the homecoming queen still walks among the living, which leads me to believe Rebekah isn't here. Where is she?"
Stefan shrugged. "I have no idea. I thought she was coming with Matt."
"Oh, be honest now, Stefan. Where is my sister?"
"I said, I have no idea. How would you like me to take you to your father?"
"Well, it wouldn't be a party without the guest of honor, would it? Bring him to me."
"Alright. Perhaps there's something in it for me? My freedom from your compulsion?"
"Oh, you want your freedom? Well, once he is dead and his weapon destroyed, you'll have your freedom. It'll be my pleasure to give it back."
"And me?" Elowen asked. Klaus turned his attention to her. "You have your hybrids. You don't need me anymore."
Klaus contemplated this. "I think about it, love. How's that?"
"It's better than nothing."
Klaus clapped them both on the shoulders. "Well, then, enjoy the party."
xxxx
Stefan had left and Elowen didn't really care where he went. She was walking through the party when she saw Toby several feet away and she froze. She prayed he wouldn't notice her, but of course he did. He started for her when Klaus came up behind him and grabbed him by the shoulder. He led him off somewhere and she gave a sigh of relief.
"My mom would seriously freak if she saw all these people here," Tyler said the second Klaus showed up with Toby.
"Your mother won't be a problem," Klaus replied. "I compelled her to go to church and pray for your friends."
Both Toby and Tyler furrowed their eyebrows.
"What are you talking about?" Toby asked.
"I want you to look around. There is Bonnie, there is Elena and Matt and there's the pretty little girl you call the love of your life-"
"You'd never hurt Elowen or Elena. You and I both know that."
"Hmm. Epic dance was wrecked tonight and who came through with the party? You two. What pals you are. But, who are all these other people here?"
Toby and Tyler looked around. Tyler shrugged.
"I have no idea. I've never seen half of these people in my life."
"That's because I've invited a few dozen friends of my own." Klaus turned and pointed out a girl standing in the crowd. "That's my friend Mindy. Picked her up along the way in Kansas. Did you know that there's an entire bloodline of werewolves in the heartland? That's Tony from North Dakota and let's not forget the Seattle contingent."
"Are those people all hybrids?"
"Well, they also love a good party, and they, like you two, were sired by me. They wish to serve their master. So, if anyone should so much as make a move against me, they may feel obligated to retaliate. You're free to warn your friends."
xxxx
Toby came up behind Elowen and grabbed her arm before she could react.
"Wha- Toby? Let me go!"
She struggled in his grip the entire way upstairs and he didn't let her go until they were safely in his bedroom.
"What are you up to with Klaus?" He asked, well, more like demanded.
Elowen scoffed. "You come barging into my house this morning declaring your love for me and now you want to grill me about Klaus?" She shook her head. "I'm out of here."
"He's onto you, Elle," Toby said quickly before she could leave. "Whatever you think you're about to pull off, he's two steps ahead of you! I'm trying to warn you!"
"I don't need your help! Especially not with Klaus, because you're sired to him now and you can't be trusted."
"What happened to 'sire bond aside, you're still my best friend'?"
"That was before you started second guessing me because Klaus planted a seed in your head. I tried to give you a chance. My real best friend would be standing right by my side while we took down Klaus, but whoever this is in front of me would never do that. He would put Klaus's needs above everyone else's. Once upon a time, you would've done anything for me-"
"And I still would!"
"No, you wouldn't! Not if it includes harming Klaus. Your desire to please him outweighs your love for me by a longshot. I'm sorry, but I can't let you ruin this."
Toby furrowed his eyebrows when suddenly, a piercing, high frequency noise shot through his ears. He covered his ears and screamed. Elowen watched with a pained expression on her face, but she stepped forward and injected a syringe that had both vervain and wolfsbane into his neck once he was brought down to his knees. He fell over and onto his side, unconscious. Elowen backed up towards the door, opened it, and then left.
She went back outside when someone put their hand over her mouth and grabbed her. She didn't know what was going on until she was dragged to the front of the house. One of the other hybrids was holding tightly onto Elena, except Elowen knew it wasn't Elena. Bringing in Katherine must've been Damon's big idea, and boy was it a good one. Standing in front of the door was Mikael. If someone had just told her she was going to be used as bait, she would've went without really thinking about it. Perhaps Damon wasn't aware.
"Hello, Niklaus," Mikael greeted as Klaus must've arrived.
"Hello, Mikael," Klaus replied. "Why don't you come in? Oh, that's right. I forgot, you can't."
"Or you can come outside if you want."
"Or I could watch my hybrids tear your limb from limb."
A group of hybrids gathered behind Mikael on the front lawn.
"They can't kill me."
"True. But, it'll make a hell of a party game. All I have to do is rub these two fingers together and they'll pounce." Klaus lifted his fingers as if the snap them.
"The big bad wolf. You haven't change. Still hiding behind your playthings like a coward. You only forget, they may be sired by you, but they're still part vampire, and they can be compelled by me."
The one Klaus said was named Mindy walked out from the side of the door and shoved Katherine into Mikael's arms. The one named Tony did the same with Elowen.
"Come out and face me, Niklaus, or they both die."
"Go ahead. Kill them."
"No, Klaus," Katherine said fearfully. "He'll do it."
"If she dies, this lot will be the last of your abominations."
"I don't need them. I just need to be rid of you."
"To what end, Niklaus? So you can live forever, with no one at your side? Nobody cares about you anymore, boy! What do you have other than those whose loyalty you forced? No one. No one."
Klaus eyes started watering as his father continued talking. Elowen started struggling in Mikael's grip, but only because it wasn't Elowen anymore.
"Nik!" Marisol cried. Her own eyes were filled with tears of fright. "Nik, please!"
Klaus took a step forward. Mikael observed this with interest.
"Ah, so you care more about this Marisol girl than the doppelganger? Yes, I'm aware of the little girl you created solely to kill."
Klaus stared at Marisol before looking at Mikael. "I'm calling your bluff, father. Kill them both."
"Nik! Please, I don't want to die again. Not like this." Tears were streaming down her face now. "I'm scared," she whimpered.
"Come outside and face me, you little coward, and I won't have to kill either of them," Mikael spat.
"My whole life you've underestimated me. If you kill them, you lose your leverage, so go ahead," Klaus said after a beat. "Go on. Kill them. Come on, old man. Kill them! Kill them!"
Mikael laughed in his face. "Your impulse, Niklaus. It has and will forever be the one thing that keeps you from truly being great." Mikael took a dagger out of his jacket pocket and stabbed Katherine in the side with it. He laughed again at Klaus's shocked face. "You have time to save the other. How about it, Niklaus?"
Suddenly, Damon rushed up behind Klaus, twisted him around and stabbed him in the side with the white oak stake in the stomach. He screamed in pain as Katherine got up off the ground.
"Katherine," Mikael snarled through clenched teeth as she took two wolfsbane grenades from her jacket pockets.
She smirked as she pulled the pins. "Kaboom." She threw them at the hybrids, where they exploded in their faces. Inside, Damon was getting ready to stake Klaus in the heart when Stefan sped out of nowhere and knocked Damon over. He held him down so he couldn't do anything else.
"What are you doing?!" Damon hissed as he struggled against Stefan's grip. Klaus quickly grabbed the stake, as it was just laying on the ground, jumped out of the door, knocked Mikael off of his feet and drove the stake through his heart. He burst into flames and burned as he died.
Marisol was standing off to the side, watching with tear streaked cheeks as Klaus walked into the house without sparing her a glance. A fresh wave of tears hit her as she ran off, down the front lawn.
"What the hell did you do?" Damon asked in disbelief on the ground.
"He's earned his freedom," Klaus said, stopping just behind the two of them. Stefan let go of Damon and faced him.
"Thank you, my friend. You no longer have to do as I say. You're free."
Stefan blinked as Klaus finished compelling him and looked down where Damon was, but he was gone.
xxxx
Klaus walked into the big mansion he had been planning on renovating for his family and immediately knew he wasn't alone. He carefully crept through the house until he came to the bedroom he'd claimed as his. It was the only one that had a bed in it and he was surprised to find Marisol sitting on the edge of it. She looked disheveled and like a complete mess, with tears dried on her face.
"Which one are you?" He asked as he walked farther into the room. Marisol looked up at him with empty eyes.
"Who do you think?"
"Marisol." Klaus had stopped in the middle of the bedroom, a few feet away from the bed. He hadn't gotten a moment alone with her ever since he'd found out she was coming back. She always made appearances with somebody else in the room. "How did you get here?"
"I drove. Elowen taught me how to use a car. It wasn't that hard to figure it out."
"And how did you find me?"
"You know how."
"That's right. Your power. I forgot."
"Did you forget about me, too? After it was all done?"
"Why are you here, love?" Klaus asked instead, dodging her question. Marisol carefully stood up from the bed and crossed the room so she was standing in front of him.
"I have some things I want to say to you."
Klaus crossed his arms. "Alright. You have the floor."
"You lied to me. You took my life from me, and you were just going to let me die again tonight. Do I mean that little to you? Did I mean nothing? Because you meant everything to me. You and Elijah. When I was alive, all I wanted from you was for you to like me. I would've done anything for you, Nik! I died for you! All you've wanted your whole life was for someone to love you and be loyal and I would've done that and everything in between! I would've gladly become a vampire for you! But no, you had to go ahead and sacrifice me in a ritual you knew wouldn't work!" Tears were starting to build up in Marisol's eyes again. "And then Kol. When I found those coffins, you gave me permission to undagger one member of your family of my choosing so I would have a friend, because you wouldn't allow me to play with the kids in the village, and then you took him from me! You limited everything about my life. You didn't let me truly live. I've done more in the short months I've been here in 2010 than I ever did in the 18 years of my life.
"I've been able to experience what it's like to have friends, and maybe even a family, even if they're all just tolerating me because I'm in Elowen's body. She has so many people who love her and you robbed me of being able to know what that felt like. And you want to know what makes me the most angry? I would do it all over again. Being with you made me feel a way that I'll never forget, and Kol made me feel like I mattered, and Elijah always made sure I got what I wanted. I wouldn't change a thing." Marisol took a shaky deep breath. "All I ever wanted was for you to look at me, and I would've been the happiest girl on earth."
Marisol stared at Klaus's unreadable face for a moment. A few tears had fallen down her face as she tried her hardest not to cry again. Finally, she bowed her head and turned around.
"I never forgot you," Klaus said lowly before she could take a step. "I don't have many regrets, but you were one of them. There was a short moment where I thought that maybe I should just take you and run. I never told Elijah because I knew he would've fully endorsed it, and then I'd be out of a chance to break the curse."
"Was breaking the curse really that much more important to you?" Marisol asked quietly as she turned back around. "Was it worth sacrificing everything else about life? Family? Friends? People you could trust?" She paused. "... Love?" She whispered. "Have you ever experienced love?"
"I never had the opportunity to do much, sweetheart. I was running from my father. If I stopped even for a second, he would've caught up and killed me."
Klaus tentatively raised one of his hands to wipe at her tears.
"You do the same to others. Katherine, Rose Marie, Trevor. Do you enjoy knowing that you are becoming the person you hate the most?"
This sentence hit Klaus like a ton of bricks. It suddenly felt like there was a weight on his chest as he looked down at Marisol. They looked at each other in silence for a long moment. Marisol swallowed as she slowly got on her tiptoes and pressed her lips to Klaus's. The kiss was short and sweet and hesitant, but Marisol quickly pulled back when she realized what she'd done. She pushed Klaus away hastily and started walking backwards.
"I shouldn't have done that. I shouldn't have-" She turned around and only got a few steps away when Klaus sped in front of her. She gasped loudly and stopped in her tracks to stop from running into him. He grabbed onto her face with both of his hands and kissed her again, this time with certainty and passion. He walked her backwards into a nearby wall and kissed her hard. Marisol's breath was completely knocked out of her. He kissed down her neck as Marisol panted heavily. She wasn't sure what this new feeling she was having throughout her body, as she'd never got the chance to know what arousal was, let alone what it felt like, but she decided that she liked it.
Klaus's lips attached to hers again and he swiftly lifted her into his arms and sped them over to the bed in the room.
xxxx
Marisol woke up to Klaus lightly shaking her awake.
"Come on, love. It's time to wake up."
Marisol groaned and opened her eyes. Klaus was already fully clothed and he had her dress in one of his hands. He placed it in her lap when she sat up.
"What is it?" She asked groggily.
"It's time to wake up the family."
Marisol's eyes lit up. "Kol?"
"Ouch, love. You're already thinking of someone else after the night we had together?"
Marisol furrowed her eyebrows as she slipped the dress over her head and stood up. "Sorry. Is that a bad thing?"
"Yes. Come along now."

Marisol found herself and Klaus walking through various moving trucks as he tried calling Rebekah.
"Rebekah, where are you? Pick up the phone, darling. Daddy is dead. It's time for a reunion."
Marisol opened her mouth to tell Klaus that Rebekah was daggered and sitting in Damon's basement when Elowen's loud voice rang out in her head.
Don't, she said. He doesn't need to know.
Marisol furrowed her eyebrows, but stayed quiet. As soon as Klaus ended his call with Rebekah, his phone rang.
"Stefan! Miss me already?"
"I'm just calling to thank you for my freedom," Stefan replied.
"Oh, I like to believe I am a man of my word, more or less."
"Thing is, it came at too high of a price. You took everything from me, Klaus."
"Let bygones be bygones, trust me. Resentment gets old."
Klaus walked past another batch of moving trucks with Marisol still trailing behind him. He reached the one he was looking for and grabbed the bottom to open it.
"You know what never gets old? Revenge."
The back of the moving truck slid open to reveal that it was empty. Marisol warily backed away at the deadly scowl that came across Klaus's face.
"No," he growled.
"What's the matter, Klaus? Missing something?"
"What are you doing?"
"Just enjoying my freedom."
"I will kill you and everyone you've ever met!"
Marisol flinched at the volume of his voice.
"You do that and you'll never see your family again. I wonder, Klaus, as someone who has been one step ahead for a thousand years… were you prepared for this?"

Author's Note: You know, I forgot that I left out the scene where Mikael shows up last chapter, so as I was reading this one over to proof read it I was so confused when Mikael was suddenly there lol. Also, throughout the Marisol plot line, I was trying to be as realistic as possible with how Klaus felt about her, and what he would do in response. I wasn't sure about having them sleep together at the time I wrote this, and I'm honestly still not sure? I'm only leaving it in because if I write it out, then I'd have to rewrite at least the next two chapters, and I don't wanna do that. I don't really like love triangle plot lines, which is why I didn't write one out with Stefan/Elowen/Damon, so the love triangle I sort of wrote out with Marisol/Kol/Klaus wasn't one of my fave things to do, but I still hope it's well received and that I did a good job with it. As for Toby expressing his feelings for Elowen, I felt like that was a scene that had to happen eventually after his emotions became heightened, so I hope that I didn't mess it up. I also wanted a funny scene where Damon teaches Marisol how to drive, but I wasn't able to fit it in which made me sad lol, which is why I went with the next best option, with Elowen teaching her instead. That's all I wanted to say in regards to this episode, so I hope you enjoyed!
