The house they'd taken refuge was durable enough for them to get a good night of sleep, without any worries of any intruders. A constant banging woke Clementine up from her sleep.

Seeing the others asleep, and seeing Kate and Bonnie watching the window, she got up and looked out the window next to the door, wiping it from the fog. The banging was from the constant raindrops coming from the sky, which was full of dark clouds.

"Looks like it's going to rain.. It'll give us a chance to refill some water bottles. Cmon," Kate told her as they grabbed the water bottles they had in their collection, as they headed outside under the porch, so they wouldn't get very wet.

"Are we going to wait until the rain stops to leave?" Asked Clem. While she always knew that there was a threat, she didn't really know if moving in rain was a good idea or not.

Kate hesitated for a bit while holding a bottle under the rain.

"I don't know, to be honest. We'll have to wait until the others are up. It's a group decision." since the rain was falling at a steady rate, they decided to leave them out and head back in. The others were already awake, getting their bearings.

"See anything out there?" Asked Lee, as he grabbed his pistol from a nearby counter and put it on his person.

"Nothing. I'd expect to see maybe a walker or two, but it's been quiet." replied Bonnie.

"We did make quite a show at Atlanta. I'm guessing they're all there." added Amanda.

"We shouldn't stay near the city, that's the plan. We get back on that truck, and keep driving north." said Carter. He didn't know if the others knew, but being around weapons and walkers made him nervous, and not able to fully perform.

"We haven't changed plans, we established that a while ago." replied Dalvin, who didn't really trust Carter, despite being part of the group. Claire did her best to help the group, her little sister, Cassie, didn't really talk, but he felt like he was a thorn in the side sometimes.

"Then let's go!"

"You have a five star hotel waiting for us down the road? If you hadn't been in that farm, with your thumb up your ass, you would know how to do this shit." growled Emile, not liking the way he was just telling people to do things.

"Hey, drop it. We have enough on our hands, and with you two going at it? That's not making things easier at all." said Mika, stepping in between them.

"She's right. We ain't gonna get far if we all want to kill each other. What we can do, for a first step, is getting out of the metropolitan area. Less urbanization." added Coach. He seemed to know his way around Atlanta and Georgia without the need for a map, a valuable asset.

"Pack everything up. The longer we stay, the more dangerous it gets." Lee helped everyone get their stuff packed again, which was not alot. The truck still had enough gas, but it wouldn't last.

"How long do you think that'll last?" Asked Cristy, as she threw some of the weapons in the back. She didn't think she'd be accepted in Lee's group after everything that had happened. But she was grateful and didn't plan to let any of them down at any time.

"I don't know.. Max? About 100 miles. That is, if we stop to siphon gas from any cars along the way, that could increase to more miles." said Mike, as he checked the engine to make sure nothing broke down on the way.

"Over there.. There's something." Amanda pointed out towards the woods, seeing some of the leaves ruffle. Several walkers came out of them.

"Time to go." They all got on, as Mikaela stepped on the accelerator, rounding back towards the freeway, in order to drive out.

Clementine leaned her head against the window, feeling the vibrations of the truck as they drove down the road. Seeing several ruined cars on the side meant to her that many others tried to the same thing. Leave, but it was too late for them.

A loud, snapping noise sounded from the engine, then a loud roar, almost like some sort of animal.

"Damn it.." Mika slowed down and pulled over on the side of the road. Georgia was known to be hot, and humid, but during this period, it was cold enough to see each others breath. Mike opened the hood as he and Dalvin looked over what could possibly be wrong.

After some struggle, Mike pulled his head out of the engine.

"Alternator is fried."

"Is it fixable?" Asked Zoe.

"It is, if we had the tools, and about half a day, which we don't have. If it was another part, screw it, we could go on without it. But this part? Is what gives the battery power to start the engine. Ain't going no where like this."

"What now? Can't we salvage a spare one from one of the cars?" Asked Claire, who started to get paranoid about being in the open road, with barely any protection.

As everyone noticed that it might take a while to repair it, Cass and Carter wandered off on their own for a bit, much to Claire's disapproval.

"We could. Me and Dalvin will go check one of them out. Rest of you keep an eye out? Don't wanna get surprised."

Lee stood next to the truck, when Amanda called him over aside.

"Everything fine?"

"Compared to everything else? I guess. But I can't stop thinking about.. What happened in Atlanta. They.. Killed Brendon.. He wasn't.. I..-"

"I understand how you feel. We would have done something at the moment, but you saw what happened afterwards," he replied, referring to the horde that attacked minutes afterwards.

"Cal, Kenny.. They were part of us. And because of them, they're both dead. I know losses are.. A daily thing now but they could have been prevented."

"I know that. You're safe with us. Trust me." She nodded slightly and walked off a few feet away to herself. Lee sighed and quickly rubbed his face with his hands, almost like trying to wake himself up.

"What was that about?" Asked Kate, who had slightly heard their conversation.

"Just telling me that.. Everything that happened in the last few days could have been prevented."

"Everything could have. I know she's different since Brendon died. They were pretty close, since they were together along with Cal, and Lake. Let's hope it doesn't give her a negative mindset. That would crush her."

Lee walked over and gave Clem a hug, something they hadn't done in a while.

"Everything fine?"

"Yeah. Will they fix the truck?"

"I don't know. Hopefully, so we can keep moving. Try to stay in sight with the others."

He got on his knees when he suddenly heard a sharp, high pitched scream come from deep inside the woods.

"Coach, weapons! Emile, you're with me." Lee ordered, as Coach threw him a rifle. Emile caught up, as they ran into the woods, trying to pinpoint the scream.

"The trees are messing up the sound. Could be anywhere." said Lee, who was frantically looking for the source.

"Over there!" exclaimed Emile, pointing to Carter and Emile, who were being swarmed by walkers. They quickly stepped in and helped dispatch of them, narrowly saving them.

"Why the hell did you wander off?!" Exclaimed Emile, who got frustrated at seeing that some people still didn't see the dangers of the world, yet they still expose themselves.

"We didn't.. Expect to find any of them here. It was quiet, nothing around."

"That's how they are! First, you don't see, or hear them," he replied, counting the reasons why on his fingers. "Then, before you know it, they're already tearing your flesh out!"

"We can talk about this back at the truck. At least we'll all be there, nothing can catch us by surprise." Lee told him, as they all started to walk back towards the road. Carter strayed behind a little, feeling guilt for putting himself and Cass at danger.

Mike finished putting in the new part best he could, which was a struggle since he didn't have most of the tools necessary to properly install it.

"Okay.." He said, taking a deep breath. "It should work, I can't guarantee it'll drive us to wherever we want, but.. It's better then being on foot." They all got back in the truck and continued to drive down the road.

Leaving behind the city, was for the best. In the beginning, they thought Atlanta was the solution, but it ended up being a hazard. Clementine sat in the back. She had taken off her hat, and was contemplating it.

It was in better condition then she thought, it had a few cuts and stains on it. She thought maybe she could try to clean it.

"Here, this might help." Mika handed her a old, dry rag that was behind one of the seats, while it wasn't clean, it wasn't dirtier then the hat, so it would work.

After some time, they drove into a small town, off the highway. There were several burnt cars, and destroyed buildings, and some Corpses on the ground, otherwise, it looked safe.

"Let's make sure these buildings are clear. We'll meet back here. Anything comes up just call out." Lee said, as they all gathered their equipment and went on their ways, to make sure nothing jumped on them.

Lee and Dalvin entered what appeared to be a grocery store, but from a house. Most of the shelves were knocked over on the windows, maybe trying to keep the walkers out, but it didn't work.

"There could be some food we can salvage from all this crap. I'll take the bodies out, take a look." Lee told him. One of the bodies, which had a knife through its neck, was still moving, reaching out for him. He quickly pulled out the knife and killed it, brining it around the back alley.

On a building a few yards away, Mika and Zoey tried to open the door, but it was barred from the inside. Zoey tried to look through the window, but it was too humid on the inside to see anything.

"Hold on.. Maybe I can.. Force... The lock.." Mika said, as she struggled with the doorknob, trying to force it open with a pocket knife. It took some time, but it came loose after several tries.

"Over there." Zoey pointed with her knife towards a body slouched over on a chair. She silently went over and stabbed it in the head, as it fell to the ground. Mika glared at it for a bit, noticing there was something off.

"What is it?"

"The people... Back at Atlanta.. The ones that wanted a deal with Lanius.. They were wearing this same uniform," she pointed out.

"Oh.. I mean, it could be anything. You saw how bad it got back there. This place looks clear, let's tell the rest."

After some time, they all reunited at the truck, pooling in whatever they could find useful.

"I still don't think we should stick around here. It looks.. I don't know, it looks like a good spot for looters, or worse." said Carter.

"It's better then being out in the open road. We should just set up camp for the afternoon, we'll figure out something to-" Dalvin's words were cut short as a bullet hit Cass in the abdomen, with enough force to knock her to the ground.

"Cover, now!" They all spread out in the area, narrowly avoiding the rain of bullets, coming form across the road, in the woods. Carter pulled Cass to the side, leaving a pool of blood, as he tried to fight them off and keep her alive.

Bonnie threw Lee another round for the rifle, as he reached for it, a bullet nearly hit him in the hand, he could feel the heat of the projectile momentarily.

"Okay.. Stay alert, keep your head down, I'm gonna go help Carter." He told Clem, as she crouched behind a ruined wall, providing cover from the bullets.

Most of the group was spread out, returning the fire, no one could be seen from the other side, almost as if ghosts were firing at them.

" Clementine? Hold on.." Lakela began to run towards her, but she wasn't fast enough, as a bullet hit her in the shoulder, causing her to stumble.

"No!" Clem began to run towards her, but she instantly put her hand up to stop her, as another bullet hit her in the chest. The pressure and pain caused her to fall to the ground, much to Clem's horror.

Back with Carter, Cass was unconscious, and was faintly breathing. Lee gave her some surgical tape to cover the wound and try to stop the bleeding while returning fire.

He glanced back to make sure Clementine was alright, and saw Lake's lifeless body on the asphalt. His expression instantly changed, becoming shocked at what was happening.

"Son of a bitch.." He saw one of them slowly advance towards the truck, he went to meet him and shot him in the neck, causing him to choke on his blood.

"Lee! To your left!" Yelled Kate, from the building that she was taking cover. Lee looked in that direction and saw a large group of walkers closing in on them.

"Fuck.." The firefight seemed to go one forever, several of their men fell, but walkers kept appearing.

"We gotta run! Or we're all gonna die!" exclaimed Emile, who was almost out of bullets.

"Okay... Okay... Clementine, go-" One of them had thrown a grenade directly at them, sending them flying in several directions.

Clementine's arm was aching, alot as she got up, her vision was blurry, all she could hear and see was gunshots and walkers.

" Clementine?! Clementine?! If you can hear me, run! I'll catch up!" yelled Lee, from a distance away. She didn't know what to do, to run, or hide, or fight back, but she always knew to do what he said.

She ditched them and began to run down the road and into the woods, stumbling upon several walkers, almost at the edge of the small town, she kept running aimlessly until she couldn't hear the gunshots anymore. She hoped for the best, but always knew the worst could happen. She hid behind some large rocks, hoping to maybe see someone friendly.

Back at the confrontation, walkers began to overrun them, two enemies in one.

"We all gotta run, they're everywhere!" Exclaimed Cristy, who began to throw objects at them, to make up for lack of bullets for her weapon.

"Go, Go now!" Everyone spread out, while Carter was carrying Cass, who had already lost alot of blood. Lee was running towards one direction when Claire pulled him by the arm.

"What?"

"I need to get to my dad, they wont-"

"Unless you want to die, go and join them," said Coach, who was already frightened enough.

"We'll find them. Right now, we have to go!" Said Lee, as the trio ran out of the area, the other members of the group had to run in different directions, separating them all.

Several hours passed, they still kept getting away, as much as they could. The group was shattered, they were all in different directions, vulnerable.

Zoe collapsed to the ground on her knees, exhausted from running.

"This.. Is.. Enough.. For now." She panted, as she rested against a tree, holding her pistol in hand.

"You really think the walkers are gonna catch up to us, right here, after all we've been running today? I don't think so," added Mike, who had a large cut across his face from hitting a tree branch.

"It's not the walkers, it's those maniacs who were shooting at us from the woods. They're the ones we should be worried about," replied Kate.

Zoe got up, still struggling to catch her breath.

"Alright.. We have to find the others.. They're out there."

"Let's keep going down this way. Keep a eye out," Said Kate, as she was the last one to walk down, meaning she would be in the back to watch for any surprises.

Somewhere else, Mika just walked along the woods, narrowly watching her surroundings. She could see a figure, hiding behind a few trees. She held the rifle close, and quickly ran over to see who, or what it was.

"Clementine?!" She said, in a surprised tone.

"You're.. Alive?"

"Barely. I saw you run off in this direction, but.. I never expected to actually find you.. Or anyone, to be honest."

"Lee.. Is he..?"

"Alive. At least he was the last time I saw him. Look, we're alone right now, and with what's out there, we're in the middle of it."

"Okay.. And go where? There's.. No where to go." said Clem, hopelessly.

Mika rubbed her temples, as if trying to remember or think of something.

"Just follow me, and stay close, we'll figure it out." The pair began the trek towards the outside of the woods, which took quite a while, the sun began to set, which meant they had been on the move for several hours.

They popped out of the woods, alongside a road, and a gas station on the other side.

"Okay.. It's getting dark, we're gonna clear that gas station, and rest for a few hours. Deal?" Mika asked Clementine.

"As long as we're not out here.. It's cold too.." she said, aiming at the road with her weapon, not seeing anything around.

They ran across to the gas station. The gas lines were either empty or somehow not functioning. There was a car parked there, but the keys were missing, and the windshield had been smashed with something, and there were some traces of dry blood at the bottom.

They slowly opened the main door, which made a creaking sound. There was alot of garbage and debris on the floor, but no walkers. They went into the back room and saw one of them, chained to a metal pipe. Once they dispatched him, they closed in that room and returned to the main room.

"So, is this safe?" Clem asked, as she took a seat on a stool that was around.

"It's safer then out there. I'll block off some of the windows with the shelves, you can.. Uh... Bring something strong to put between the doors," She said, as she began to pull the shelves towards the windows.

Clementine brought a metal tube, as they lodged it between the door handles, making it difficult for anything to open or get by it.

" Okay. Find somewhere comfortable for now. I'll keep a eye out." Said Mika, who took a seat on the desk, looking towards the road they came from.

Clementine layed down next to her, on the inside of the desk. While she felt sad because they were separated from the others, she felt glad she wasn't alone, Mika's been with them since Savannah, so she grew attached to her. She kept thinking about alot of things as she drifted off to sleep.

Somewhere else, Lee, Cristy, Dalvin, Emile, and Coach had taken refuge inside a abandoned building, after fleeing the scene.

"Are you all ready to go?" Asked Lee, who was already packing Whatever stuff they had.

"Look, I know you want to find Clementine, but in the shit show we're in right now, it's not a good idea to head out there," added Cristy, who wanted to prevent another casualty.

"I sent her off, alone, who knows what might be out there, she could be hurt, she-"

Dalvin pulled him by the arm.

"Hey, calm down. We wanna get through this, we gotta keep a level head. We're all worried, but we can't just go out there like that."

"The man's right. We'll all go out looking for the others, we gotta keep a low profile," added Coach, who feared for their safety. Lee just nodded as he looked through the window, towards the woods.
