This chapter contains some very sad/shocking news for Sierra... And, some satisfying results of a certain somebody, whose going to get what he deserve.
The Next Day: Hosu General Hospital...
The four teens, dressed in light-blue hospital gowns, were in solemn. They all had wrappings on their bodies, showing the wounds they received from their fight with the Hero Killer: Stain.
...None of them got a wink of sleep. Even Sierra, who was undergoing electrolyte imbalance, once they hooked her up with an I.V. of electrolytes, was unable to fall asleep.
Not after reliving what they just went through, last night.
"Did you sleep, Midoriya-kun?" Todoroki asked. His voice a bit more gruff and slightly rocky, from not getting any sleep.
The dark-green/black-haired teen shook his head.
"I couldn't sleep, at all." He whispered. His forest-green eyes staring up at the wall.
Todoroki let out a soft sigh.
"...Yeah... Me neither."
Across from Izuku, Sierra sat on her bed, pulling her knees up to rest her chin on them.
"I doubt any of us could sleep... Not after what happened," she replied.
To her left, Iida, with both his arms wrapped, his left in a cast, held in the same sling and folded over his chest, sat crossed-legged on his own bed. Dead silent.
"Just thinking about it... It made the experience, somewhat, amazing." Izuku commented.
Todoroki, sitting on the edge of his bed to face Izuku, nodded his head.
"It really was." The younger fifteen year-old agreed.
"After everything that happened in the alley, it felt like a miracle that we all are alive... -He stared down at his bandaged leg, then over at his sister.- Though, he purposely didn't take the chance to finish us off when he had the chances to do so."
Todoroki stared down at his left-forearm... It's the same bandage that Sierra used, during the fight.
The doctors found, after checking the wound, that the bandage had kept the wound sterile. And, thanks to her pressure points to slow the bleeding and wound closing at a faster rate, found no reason to replace the bandage with one of their own.
The younger fifteen year-old turned to the second oldest in the group.
"While we were spared, I'm still impressed with you, Iida-kun." He commented, honesty in his tone. "He tried to murder you, on those few moments, but you stood tall and helped us take him down."
...Iida shook his head.
"That's not true." He replied, before looking down at his injured arms. "...I was-..."
He didn't seem to be able to find the confidence to tell them how he was feeling. But, Izuku, Todoroki and Sierra can tell, through his tone of voice and gloom expression, on what he was truly feeling.
Then, their hospital room door opened.
Gran Torino stood behind the door... With the Pro Hero, Manual, at his right.
"So. You youngins decided to wake up, finally." The elderly-male grumbled, walking into the room.
Izuku beamed at the retired Pro Hero.
"Gran Torino!"
...Tenya, seeing his intern, was nervous and uncomfortable at seeing the pro he lied and abandoned.
"Manual..." He whispered.
Sierra had a soft-smile on her face at seeing the Jet Hero.
...Izuku told her on what he went through, during his care with the seventy-five year-old senior.
"Baka!" Gran Torino yelled at the oldest fifteen year-old, using his wooden cane to help him walk towards his student. "After a stunt you pulled, last night, I have enough lungs in my air to yell at you for hours, without stopping to take a breath!"
Izuku's face was mixed with guilt, fear and skittish.
"I-I know," he quivered. "A-And I'm sor-"
"But, I'm not going to do that." Gran Torino cut him off. "Even if I do, I'm not going to start. -He turned to the door.-Somebody wishes to speak to you four."
A larger figure came into the room... That being a very tall male, wearing a black-suit, a Dalmatian-styled tie... And, the person has the face, the fur-coat coloring, of a beagle.
"This is Hosu's Chief of Police: Kenji Tsuragamae."
Izuku and Sierra were taken aback at meeting with the chief of police.
...Instinctually, and reading his reputation, Sierra has great respect for the Dog Quirk User.
Izuku, just as much of respect and feeling honor to be in his presence, couldn't believe that the Chief, himself, came to them.
Todoroki and Iida stood out of their beds.
Sierra, using the I.V. pole, got to her feet, too.
Her brother, with his injured leg, forced himself to do the same, but only got to sitting in front of him when Kenji held up a hand and assured him that he was okay.
"Please, Pup, stay seated. Woof!"
...The boys were all taken aback that he, actually, let out a 'woof', after his sentence.
With all four of them facing him, the chief started the conversation.
"You four our the U.A. Students that brought down the Hero Killer. Is that right?" He asked, hoping to get more information on each of them from their profile at their school.
"We are." Todoroki confirmed.
"Very good. Woof!" The Chief commented... Then, his gaze became serious. He got straight to the point. "The Hero Killer, Stain, sustained some serious injuries: Some severe burns, several broken bones, first degree frostbite on a broken-hand and some uncontrolled muscle spasms. Right now, he's in the hospital, under heavy guard. Woof!"
Both Izuku and Sierra were greatly relieved by the news of their uncle's condition... Though, that meant, there was a chance that they couldn't go see him.
"I'm positive that there's an important lesson you four know, but I'll give you a recap. Just in case." The Dog Quirk User warned, before he got to it. "When Quirks became the norm, the police force sought out to maintain the status quo. Back then, it was decided that we wouldn't use Quirks as weapons. And that's where heroes came in; they can do what we couldn't. If they were licensed, of course. Woof!"
Sierra's eyes narrowed at the debriefing... Beneath her, she can sense Night Thorn, from within her shadow, watching and listening. Biding his time to wait, until it was the appropriate time to come out.
"It would be impossible for the police to condone the use of deadly Quirks. After all, we're here to stop such harm from being done. The only reason that Pros can use their powers now, is because the strict Code of Ethics that the early heroes chose to abide by... Which is why it's against the law to allow uncertified people to use their Quirks to cause injuries. -His brown-eyes narrowed at the four.- Whether you were up against the Hero Killer, or not... None of you had the authority to harm the villai-"
"Excuse me." Sierra called up, raising a hand up. "Pardon me for interrupting you, Sir, but I need to bring this up."
Kenji raised a brow at the fourteen year-old... His heart went out to her. His paternal, animal instinct imprinting her as a pack member.
...Yet, as a higher-rank predator and alpha of his work, he has to maintain his status as an alpha and not allow instinctual emotions get in the way of his job.
He raised a hand up at the girl.
"I heard about you interning at the Night Flower Hero Agency, and under the tutelage of Night Thorn, himself, Pup. However, just because you work under the guidance of an underground agency, doesn't mean you have the right to conduct the action of Vigilante. Even if Zodiac Law gives us special permission and rules of our own to follow, we still need to abide by the Laws of Ethics."
Sierra nodded her head.
"I know that," she replied. "What I'm trying to tell you, is that we were giving permission to engage combat with the Stain."
Both of his brow rose. Clearly, surprised.
"...You were? -He cocked his head to the side.- I failed to see how you four were given permission, when you four weren't interning in the same agency and all came into contact with Stain at different timing. If you would, please enlighten us on how it is that you say that you four were given permission to harm the villain. Woof!"
The fourteen year-old nodded her head.
"As you are aware, students interning with heroes, are under the guardianship of that hero. And, whatever rules and/or code they follow, are the same rules and codes that the student must follow." She started off, slowly pushing the I.V. to follow her away from her bed. "And, with there being many types of heroes, not all follow the same moral than most heroes would go by... And, it just so happens, as you are already know, my guardian is Night Thorn. An Underground Hero... However, unlike Izuku, Tenya and Todoroki's heroes... Night Thorn is, also, a Legalized Bounty Hunter."
...
...From the way Kenji's eyes grew from the news, along with Manual and Gran Torino, told the teens that they didn't know that piece of information. And while Todoroki and Tenya don't truly know the perks that Legalized Bounty Hunters are given, Izuku immediately grasped on to what his sister was doing in order to spare them from punishment.
"A Legalized Bounty Hunter?" Kenji repeated, hoping that he heard right.
From underneath her, Sierra's shadow began to move and take a different form of shape.
...
...Before the heroes, Chief of Police and the teenagers... Night Thorn made his appearance.
"That is correct." The Shadow Weaver Hero confirmed, tugging the back of his robe to rid away any wrinkles that his clothes may or may not reveal, wanting to be as presentable as possible.
He extended his black-hand forward to a surprised Kenji, a taken aback Manual and a cautious Gran Torino.
"Greetings, Kenji Tsuragamae."
He was still flabbergasted that he didn't detect the shorter-figure, but did reached out and shook hands with the wolf-skulled figure.
"Night Thorn, I presume?" He replied.
A firm nod came from the Shadow Weaver Hero.
"At your service, and here to help clear up any issue that is being placed on my charges, as of last night."
The three boys were dumbfounded that he put the plural on charge, reminding them that he did tell Sierra to inform them that he would take temporary guardianship over them during their battle with Stain.
The Dog Quirk User gave him a raised brow.
"And I take it that you did, in fact, told Sierra Aizawa to fight Stain?"
Night Thorn chuckled.
"I did. -It was immediate, without any hesitation.- I, even, informed her and gave her the order to inform her classmates, Izuku Midoriya, Tenya Iida and Shōto Todoroki, that I would take temporary guardianship over them and to give them the same orders to engage combat with Stain."
Kenji folded his arms over his chest.
"Your testimony and confirming to admitting such an action, is more than enough to excuse Sierra Aizawa from punishment. -He lowered his snout. Closing his eyes.- However, while you chose to take guardianship over the other three students, in an act to prevent the Act of Vigilante to take effect, they engaged combat with Stain, before you took up the role to be responsible for them. -He shook his head.- I'm afraid that isn't enough to excuse them of any form of punishment for breaking the Law of Ethics, along with sparing their supervisors: Endeavor, Manual and Gran Torino, from receiving severe punishment for the gross abuse of your powers. Woof!"
Todoroki grew angry and was about to demand of his and Izuku's actions to not be justifiable to be excused, for saving Native and Iida's lives from being brutally murdered by Stain.
...
...
...When a chuckle, coming from the wolf-skulled hero, cut him off.
"While I do agree that their supervisors will be facing punishment, for leaving their charges and/or letting them out of their sights to their own devices, I believe the testimony from Native has something else to say about the boys for receiving punishment, when they didn't break the law... For it was Stain, who used his Quirk, first, and used deadly weaponry on them, before any of the boys laid a single attack on him with their own Quirks."
The Dog Quirk User let out a "Hmph?". His ears slightly picked up.
"I beg your pardon? Woof!"
Sierra beamed up at the Chief of Police.
"It's the truth, Sir." She said. "While people are forbidden from using their Quirks to inflict injuries on others. Under Article Fifty-Six, Section Twenty-Seven, Paragraph Three, it clearly stated and I quote: 'Usage of Quirks, without license, can be overruled, if a person is forced to defend themselves against individuals who use their Quirks in the act of assault, including to severely wound or even cause life-threatening, first'."
"And while the boys did use their Quirks, without permission from their supervisors, Native was very confident in his answer to say that they used their Quirks to distract and stall the villain when waiting for the other pros to come to their aid, as Shōto Todoroki informed when he arrived to help, until Sierra came and was instructed, from me, to inform them that I gave them permission to use their Quirks to injure and/or wound the Hero Killer. And, as a Legalized Bounty Hunter, I have the right to give such permission and authority to those who are under my care. Including to minors of any kind, who are in the legal age know and understand the difference between right and wrong."
...
...
...Both Manual and Gran Torino were at a loss for words from the news.
Todoroki and Iida, both apparently not having to know that rule, are speechless. Izuku, however, recalling reading such article with his sister, immediately felt relieved that his sister found a loophole.
...
...Kenji... Was impressed... And stumped.
"Is that so..." He muttered.
Sierra nodded her head... She relaxed when she felt Adahy lay his hand on her right-shoulder.
'"Iida's Quirk only gave him a boost of speed, but never laid a hit on Stain, until after Stain's Quirk wore off and saved Todoroki from having his arm sliced off his body from Stain's sword. And while Izuku did make physical contact when he found Iida and Native, with his Quirk, also, giving him a boost of speed, he was only able to disarm his weapon and didn't land an attack way after Night Thorn gave his blessings to fight. As for Todoroki. While he did use his fire that could have injured the villain to some extent, he was using it as a diversion to force him to move and then would use ice to try and restrain Stain."
Kenji rubbed the fur on his chin... He appeared to be at a loss to how a fourteen year-old could describe the details to strengthen her case to confirm what Native had told him and his men. Let alone, be able to use one of the Laws of Ethics to avoid punishment.
...He let out a huff... Followed by a chuckle.
"...If you weren't interning on becoming a hero, you would make a great lawyer on laws. Woof!"
His comment made her beam at the Dog Quirk User... But, she can tell there was still a problem.
"But, I'm afraid that Izuku Midoriya, Tenya Iida and Shōto Todoroki still used such force and their Quirks are more hazardous to cause serious injury on the villain, even if it were self-defense. Woof!"
She let out a tiring sigh. She had expected him to bring that up... Luckily, she has one more trick up her sleeve.
"Well, then I guess I have one more important piece of information I need to tell you. In all honesty, you should be expecting this." She replied... A stoic, tired expression took over her calm, polite feature. "...Like Izuku Midoriya, who happens to be my god-brother, both Tenya Iida and Shōto Todoroki are part of my pack."
Iida doubled back in shock to the news.
He didn't think she would state such a claim of him being her pack... Not after he went behind her back to seek out vengeance towards Stain.
Todoroki, also surprised by the news, was very confused.
'How does being a member of her pack is supposed to help us avoid being punished?' He wondered.
Instead of being staggered by the girl's claim, Kenji narrowed his eyes on the girl.
"Explain. Woof!" He used a stern tone.
For her to tell him something as serious as to reveal that the two boys are part of her pack, is a major deal... In the very least, a major deal in Animal Quirk Users Society.
Sierra glared back at the dog. Not out of anger or disrespect, but to show him her strength and how serious she is with him.
"As you are aware, like many others had heard and/or seen the news, Tenya Iida is the younger-brother of Turbo Hero: Ingenium. -She got straight to the point.- My brother, Jeremy Mūa, a Quirk Healer and one of the best doctors in this hospital, was the one doctor who helped healed Ingenium from his severe injuries. -Her gaze lowered... Her eyes, clouded with anguish.- ...But, in exchange on healing his most serious injuries, my brother's Quirk constrains him to undergo half of the damage and heal from the very injuries his patient is recovering from... Which included, having to take Ingenium's place to being paralyzed."
The Chief of Police's eyes flashed her his condolence for her brother's sacrifice, in exchange for saving Ingenium's life and to continue his career as a hero.
Manual was amazed to realize he was in the presence of the sibling of the doctor that saved Ingenium. He nodded his head to the girl.
She nodded back at the pro hero, before revealing another shocking revelation.
"On that very day, Tenya revealed to wanting to call me his own sister... And, before we crossed paths, was when he made me an oath on 'repaying a debt' for my 'brother's sacrifice'."
...
...
.. Right before the adults and her classmates, as she uses her I.V. pole to get down to her knees... She bowed to the Chief of Police.
She stares down at the floor, her wrapped forehead nearly touching the tile-ground.
"...The fault of Iida-kun, for leaving his supervisor and going after the Hero Killer... Is, truly, mine to uphold."
Iida stumbled a bit from the announcement. And, immediately, went on the offensive.
"What?! No!" He cried out, slightly limping when making his way to the girl on the floor. "That's not true, Sierra! It's not your fault that I went after the Hero Killer! It's mine! -He kneeled beside the girl, wincing at the protest of his sore body.-Please, get up! Stop speaking such nonsense! -He turned to Kenji and the adults.- She had nothing to do with it! It's my fault, the entire time! I am the one who must be punished! Not her!"
As if he didn't say anything, Sierra looked up at Kenji.
"You know why I must take responsibility for his actions, Ivor (Yew, Bow, Warrior)." She said, using his Animal Name to tell him how serious it is within Zodiac Law. "I had every moment and/or opportunity to talk to him, to confront him about his sudden change of behavior, during time at school and before leaving for our interning. Instead, I chose to give him space, as any human would do, and waited for him to text either me, my god-brother and another fellow classmate of ours... And, clearly, the results of my choice of action, proved to being the wrong decision."
Shōto, Tenya and Manual were a bit surprised by the name she called the Chief of Police by, while Izuku stared, sadly, at his sister for convincing the adults that she must be punished for their friend's hasty act of revenge. And though Sorahiko that well familiar with the laws and society that Animal Quirk Users live by, didn't have any part to argue that she shouldn't blame herself to what occurred last night in the alley.
...A low grumble left Kenji... He shook his head.
"...Sōdesu ka (Is that so)... -He gave her a clear, stern, look.- In that case, Sierra Arashi, you're to be held responsible for Tenya Iida's action. -He looked up at Night Thorn, who didn't show much response to the verdict.- Meaning, Night Thorn, that you're to receive such punishment, in place of Manual. Woof!"
Iida's eyes widened at the announcement... He sneered in disbelief that his friend... The one he called 'sister', was taking the fall for him.
...An unjustifiable verdict, that he knew he has to pay for. Not Izuku. Not Shōta. And, sure as hell, not Sierra. Him. Him, and he, alone, has to be the one to accept the consequences that his actions lead him and his friends to suffer.
When they expected a negative response to the Shadow Weaver Hero... They were taken back by his casual chuckle.
"I don't mind on taking the punishment... However, Detective Tsuragamae, I'm afraid you're, also, thinking as a human, when you should know that Zodiac Law will prevent you from punishing either me, or my charge... Since she, already, atoned for Tenya Iida's misguided action, when she joined in the confrontation with the Hero Killer."
That, nobody in the room, excluding Sierra, was expected to hear.
"Arf?" Kenji replied.
...Raising her head from the floor, being helped back to her feet by her supervisor, Sierra beamed up at the confused, yet intrigued Chief of Police of Hosu.
"Article Fifteen, Section Thirty-One, Paragraph Seven." She recited. "The sins of a pack-mate of an Animal Quirk User, that is tied to the Animal Quirk User, falls upon the Animal Quirk User to rectify and commence penance. And, depending on the course of action that they choose to follow as curable to the mistake the individual that the Animal Quirk User is taking punishment for, should be enough to make amends, are spared from any form of punishment that would be punishable by the authority."
"And while Izuku Midoriya and Shōto Todoroki were there to intervene, my charge joining the fight to protect her pack-mates and Native, alone, should be one good reason to spare her from punishment. And, at the same time, keep visual on Tenya Iida, to ensure his safety from Stain's attempt to take his life... And, by law, make certain that he doesn't use deadly force to carry out his act of revenge. -He patted her on top of her head.- And, by those two strong, powerful reasons, is enough as penance for repairing the sins of Tenya Iida's Act of Vigilante and spare the both of them, along with Manual and myself, from receiving severe punishment."
...
...The adults were completely speechless.
Iida and Todoroki, having no knowledge on laws like Izuku and/or Sierra, were very much astonished to her claims.
...As Izuku, with immense pride in his chest, beamed at his sister.
...When he realized that she had, in fact, fixed her classmate's mistake and paid the debt... Kenji nodded his head.
"...Anata ga tadashīdesu (You are right)." He grunted, followed by a small-snort... Part of his lips lifted up, flashing the girl a smile. "It seems you're able to escape punishment, let alone succeed at protect your pack-mates, their supervisors and your own supervisor from receiving punishment, Pup... Although, -He turned to Todoroki, who was confused by on what was going on.- I can't say the same for Endeavor and/or his own son; you have yet to claim that he refers to you as kin, and his Quirk is more of a hazardous to seriously wound Stain, which he sustained severe burns, when using his Fire Quirk. So, I must say that I fail to see how you would claim the boy being of your pack, besides being your friend. Woof!"
...
...
...Sierra looked over to Izuku.
...
...
...
...The fifteen year-old looked at his sister.
...
...
...
...Then, they looked over towards the curious, confused Fire/Ice Quirk User.
...
...
...
...They looked back to each other... And, in unison, nodded.
...
...
...Sierra had this serious, solemn look. Her god-brother had the same expression on his face, as they stared at the Chief of Police of Hosu.
"...Izuku and I didn't know it at the time, until we learned that he was our classmate on the first day as U.A. students, but for over eight years, we've been helping Todoroki and had him in our care... Since we've started gathering evidence and information on the many violations his father, Endeavor, had caused and made, throughout his entire career as a hero."
...
Everyone, except for Night Thorn and Izuku, were all frozen in disbelief by her announcement.
Shōto didn't know how to react, as Izuku pushed himself to stand.
"It's true, Sir." He confirmed... His Forest-green eyes flashing with such determination, with a hint of rage. "Sis and I had been keeping track to every hero's performances, since we could remembered, and had been informing law enforcements, through letters, on what kind of destructions and/or violations they broke when they would misuse their Quirks. From collateral damages, to mass destruction and even civilian casualties."
Sierra, using her I.V. pole as leverage, walked to stand beside her brothers.
"For a total of ten years, we've had over forty-two Pro Heroes and seventy-three lesser rank heroes their licenses revoked and relieved from duty, until they went to get their licenses back. Detective Tsukauchi has a list to prove such actions had taken place, if you wish to see hard evidence, besides the fact that we would give him the gathered information Izuku said I collected, from news reporters, to social media. Even, hearing witnesses and other peoples' statements and testimonies."
Kenji, Manual and Gran Torino looked at one another, before staring back at the teenagers.
Manual had a clear look of concern and cautiousness.
"And you two are saying that Endeavour is one of those heroes that misuses their Quirks?"
Both nodded their heads, neither hesitating.
"In just a single year, he, alone, caused twelve times more destruction than over thirty lesser heroes had made in their first four years as heroes." Izuku revealed.
"And though that would equivalent to six Pro Heroes making mistake in almost nine years, combined, it's still high for a single Pro Hero to achieve, on their own." Sierra added in her calculation, growling low. "If he wasn't the Number Two Pro Hero in all of Japan and didn't have connection to avoid punishment, everyone would know how far he is from being close to being mighty as All Might."
Shōto was very impressed that two of his classmates had found ways to keep tabs on his old man's progress as a Pro Hero... Even more to them despising him than thinking he was great, like most people would.
Iida apparently was in-between to believing the two, but wondering if they could be mistaken.
"Are two certain?" He asked. "Many would disagree with you, if you were to tell them; the news had only talked about all the good things Endeavour has done for there community. I don't even recall ever hearing anything negative about the Number Two Pro Hero. They would, even, disregard your findings and come to term that you're trying to damage the credibility of a great hero."
"And you would be right, Ten." Sierra agreed. "Anyone who would believe the news and not truly know the kind of person Endeavor really is, wouldn't even look at all the evidence Izu and I had gathered."
"But, if you know the right people who were involved, personally, during his actions as 'hero'... Then, they would tell you the exact opposite on who he really is." Izuku pointed out.
He looked over his shoulder to stare at Todoroki, who kept his head down and clenching at his bandaged arm.
The god-siblings weren't trying to open wounds of his own, to what he underwent in his childhood with Endeavor ruling over the Todoroki Residence. And whatever relationship he has with his father, better or worse since the Sports Festival and during his internship, they don't attend to steer him to what he wants to view the Flame Hero.
"These are some serious allegations you two are telling us." Kenji stated, giving them serious looks. "If such evidence are true and you two had taken matters to have other heroes to be held responsible for their actions and be more cautious when performing their duties as heroes, why hadn't you two give all the informations and evidence you gathered to the police and have him be held accountable for his errors? Woof!"
Night Thorn, staying in his spot, stared at the Dog Quirk User. He detected a slight hint of concern and worry in his tone. Even if he doesn't show it, he can tell he has issues to hearing that Endeavor isn't heroic as many view him to be.
Sierra glared down at the floor, as Izuku looked to his left, rubbing the back of his head.
"Well, there are a couple things that prevents us from going forward." He answered, sighing out with deep disappointment.
"One reason, is the testimonies and claims of the many witnesses and/or civilians that got involved in the crossfire of his duty." Sierra started. "We were able to get a little over seventeen years of past performances that Endeavor had participated in, and are still digging a bit further for more of his actions... But, with so much time had passed, leaves us with some issues of the police to take any statement we've gathered."
"Many of the witnesses, who gave out statement and/or information, had either died through certain events, related and/or non-related to being the cause by Endeavor, himself. While there are still certain amount of people who still remember certain events and answer with the same testimony to being the truth, others had been bribed, by either him or at least his agency, to reduct their own complaint and make his mistakes be innocent than it was." Izuku informed, pulling out his phone and quickly getting on to the file that he and his sister had been working on for a little over ten years.
"...And, there's the fact that, due to my Quirk and special connections to animals, many wouldn't take my notes that the animals, themselves, had told me, that they continued to recite and tell other animals about. Even with other Animal Quirk Users, who can understand animals and hear the same stories, wouldn't be able to vouch for me and would only be witnesses to hearsay." Sierra added in.
"Our second reason, is the timing. While we were able to gather a little over seventeen years of his progress, the judge would either want to know more into Endeavor's history or state, because on how long certain events took place, would be harder to prove. Plus, would no longer have any values, under the law, to take actions to. Unless, it could've been involved with unsolved deaths/cases to civilians, other heroes or even villains."
"And the last reason we've never brought our report to Detective Tsukauchi, is because we don't have anybody close to Endeavor to verify or confirm such allegations are true." Sierra revealed. "We don't want to force his family to tell us and with his-... Wife, whom we speculated to being bought and forced to be in an illegal Quirk Marriage at the age of eighteen, being placed in a mental hospital for being accused to going crazy and attacking one of her children, we didn't want to risk getting anybody within the Todoroki Residence to being hurt by Endeavor; he might turn on his own children, even if they didn't tell anybody about his past bribery, threats or abuse."
...
...
...The room went silent.
...
...The air grown thick and heavy, barely able to breathe within the negative vibes circling them.
...
...
...A low rumble of a growl left Kenji's chest. His eyes closed, add he folded his arms over his chest.
...
...
...Clearly, hearing the two's announcement about the Number Two Pro Hero being an abuser and breaking multiple laws for many years, really got him agitated and frustrated.
...A deep groan of a sigh left the Dog Quirk User.
"Whether you two do speak the truth about Endeavor or not, which you sound to me to be telling the truth, it does put us at a problem. -He opens his eyes.- You four would've ended up in trouble, unless word about students taking on the Hero Killer didn't go public."
Sierra glared at the Chief of Police... A sudden loud snarl left her chest, as she morphed to her wolf-form.
"Don't. You. Dare." She barked, body slightly trembling from soreness.
Izuku panicked, kneeling to the white-wolf.
"Sis!" He cried, slight hint of a scolding in his voice, wrapping his arms around her neck.
She did lowered her voice, but the growling continued. Her ears folded back, as Kenji gave out a warning bark of his own. Growling low at the wolf.
Besides Night Thorn, everyone was taken back and on high alert at her usage of her Quirk.
"You're going to have Endeavor take the credit, when he wasn't even there when the Nomu swooped in and tried to kidnap my brother and I. -Her tail rose up high, claws digging slightly into the tiles... It was taking every ounce of willpower to not trigger one of her elemental abilities, and let loose her anger.- He even attempted, contemplated, to use his Fire Quirk to attack Stain, while we were within his range and mercy. If not for Gran Torino, he probably would've burnt us, severely injure us in the process."
The senior hero turned to Kenji, nodding his head.
"The girl is right, Kenji." He confirmed. "Endeavor had a fist full of fire and was just about to shoot it towards Hero Killer and the kids, if I hadn't called out for him to stop. Manual, Native and the five other heroes can vouch that they'd witnessed his near attempt on child endangerment and inflicting injuries towards minors."
"Plus, Sir, even if we used different time periods to when the Hero Killer was taken down, many civilians and other heroes would counterproduct the timing to where Endeavor was at and everyone will be wondering why the news would lie to the public." Manual pointed out.
Normally, he wouldn't have cared on who would know where the Flame Hero was seen and would still follow suit with the idea... But, to hear that he tried to harm two of the four children to had taken down Stain, while they were in a hostage situation, and needed another hero to prevent him from attacking, made him instantly change his mind.
"This is truly atrocious," he growled. "...But now, we're completely at a loss on to say which hero had brought Stain down."
Everyone ended up stumped and at a loss from the news. And, because they can't say that a non-Pro Hero brought down Stain, made the situation much more grievous.
...
...Then, Sierra had an immediate thought.
She morphed back to get human-form.
"What about Night Thorn?"
Everyone turned to her.
Night Thorn remained silent, holding the chin of his wolf-skull with his right-hand, apparently thinking.
The pro heroes, Kenji, Iida and Todoroki were quite curious to her suggestion, while Izuku, with his quick thinking, got on board to her suggestion.
"It can work!" He cried, beaming up at the Chief of Police and the two pro heroes. "The Night Flower Hero Agency are one of the best Underground Agency in all of Japan, and are known for their unparalleled stealth. Even one or all of them, with or without Night Thorn there, being spotted in the area, they're known to vanish and be at another area within a short amount of time."
"Not only that, but he did, actually, knock Stain out and didn't risk either of us getting hurt when we were within his grasp." Sierra reminded. "And, he did instructed the four of us to engage combat, when he took over temporary guardianship over Izu, Ten and Shō. So, if there was even a chance that somebody were to hear or figure out that students had fought the Hero Killer, which should be mentioned if brought up for interview and so long our names and/or identities aren't given, so long as they hear that he was there and had instructed us to take such course of action, then it should be fine. Even more so, since he's a Legalized Bounty Hunter. And nobody has an issue with near-death villains and the condition of their health, if it was a Legalized Bounty Hunter that allowed such force to take them down."
...
...
...
The Chief of Police of Hosu chuckled.
"...You two... Would be great defense attorney of Quirk Law, if you weren't going to become heroes. Woof!"
Hearing his comment, made both god-siblings beam up at him... Telling them that he was going to take Sierra's suggestion.
He turned to the Shadow Weaver Hero.
"Night Thorn. Will you be willing to go along with the plan?"
The Shadow Weaver Hero, lifting his head from his hand... Chuckled, as he went over to stand beside Sierra.
"I'd much rather tell a half-lie that I took down the Hero Killer, than give Endeavor the praises he does not deserve to gain for almost burning my charge and her god-brother. -He laid a hand on top of her head.- Let's do it."
Kenji nodded his head in approval and gratitude. Then, he turned to the teenagers.
"I know that it isn't fair that none of you will be receive any credit, even if we're to mention that students aided Night Thorn on taking down Stain. But-... -He lowered the top-half of his body. Bowing to them in thanks.- Let me be the first, to show my deepest appreciation and gratitude, for your services. Woof!"
Todoroki, not showing much emotion and no longer feeling they were being punished for using their Quirks to save Native and Iida from death, let out a deep sigh of relief.
"You know... You could've told us that in the beginning."
Izuku beamed at the younger fifteen year-old, before turning back and watching Iida walk towards Manual and bow.
"I'm sorry, for all the trouble I caused." He apologized.
...
...Manual, with a watery-smile on his face, firmly but gently landed a chop on top of the teenager's head.
"You should be," the adult replied. "...But, I'm really glad that you're all right. Just, don't do that, again. Your brother would go ballistic, if he finds out you pulled something like that."
Izuku turned to Gran Torino, and bowed to him. Also, wanting to apologize.
"I'm sorry, too."
...The elderly hero let out a deep sigh.
"I swear, Kid. You're becoming too much like him." He grumbled... As a smile came on his face. "But, what matters is that you all learn from your mistakes and made it out, alive. That, and thanks to you, your sister and your logical argument, we won't have to deal with the punishments for you youngins getting us in trouble... Well, almost all of us."
Both god-siblings were confused by the elderly hero's words, as Kenji lifted himself up and stared at the two.
"Since you two made claims of Endeavor violating the Laws of Ethics, which I'm to assume you still have evidence to such claims, and were almost injured when he was about to use his Quirk on the Hero Killer, he will still be receiving punishment for allowing his son to take off and will be asked certain questions... Which will lead to extreme measures, to have him charged and indicted, if the evidence you two provide are to be enough to have him held accountable. Woof!"
Izuku, Sierra and even Todoroki were very much stunned by the news they were given.
Though, the siblings had a look of worry.
"We may have gathered a lot of info on his history, but they may still not be enough to have him be charged for breaking the Laws of Ethics." Izuku responded, scrolling through the notes and info he and his sister saved.
"And, without somebody personally close to Endeavor to confirm certain allegations and what kind of person he is, will either get a slap on the wrist or just only have to pay some fines for minor damages towards properties he caused last night." Sierra reminded, growling low.
Tenya, feeling just as frustrated to hear the two reluctance to admitting they won't be able to prove their case, turned his head to stare at Todoroki.
In silence, the two stared at each other... Until, nodding at the second-oldest, Shōto spoke.
"I'll give my testimony, to back up their claim and case."
Izuku and Sierra, with eyes wide in shock, turned to stare at the Fire/Ice Quirk User.
While they were excited and happy that he was going to speak up and tell others what kind of monster Endeavor really is, they didn't want him to push himself to tell Kenji and there other officers about the abuse he, his siblings and mother went through, if he isn't ready or even comfortable to admit he was abused.
"Are you sure, Todoroki-kun?" Izuku asked, cautiously.
The younger-boy nodded his head.
"Very sure," he said. "Honestly, I never expected anybody outside of my family to figure out how much of a dirtbag my old man really is, let alone look in through his history and try to hold him accountable for all the wrong things he's done to reach to the title he gained. -He nodded his head to the siblings.- And it's thanks to you two, Midoriya-kun and Sierra, that I was able to find the strength to embrace my heritage and become a stronger person than I started out as. And it's because of you two, that I want to get justice for not just for myself or my siblings and mother, but also all those innocent civilians he wronged. -He turned to Kenji.- Is there a place where we can talk? Where my father won't be able to hear or find us, if he were to find out what I'm going to say?"
Manual and Kenji turned to each other... Both having serious, blank looks on their faces, before turning back to the Fire/Ice Quirk User.
"...Follow us." Kenji said, showing the way through the door when Manual pulled it back. "We'll take this conversation to a vacant room, so none of the staff members will risk interfering with the interview. Woof!"
Nodding his head in agreement, Shōto walked out of the room and followed the Chief of Police to find a room to talk.
Manual went over to Izuku and Sierra.
"If it'll be all right, Midoriya-kun, may we borrow your phone and look through all the info you and Aizawa-chan gathered on Endeavor?"
They didn't need to ask twice or hesitate on giving the police the information they held on for so long, never knowing when the right moment would come for them to show all the flaws the Flame Hero caused in most of his career and lifetime after graduating U.A.
Izuku handed the Pro Hero his phone.
"If you want to hear more to our investigation from another, whose been looking in past history records and/or reports that we can't get into, I have Detective Tsukauchi's number on my contact list." He informed, as he showed the hero how to operate his phone.
Manual beamed down at the two.
"I'll give him an immediate call, and have him in our conversation." He informed the two, before leaving the hospital room to follow Kenji and Todoroki.
Gran Torino watches the god-siblings' expression, seeing the clear sign of relief and abundant of hope that all of their hard work on gathering the truth about Endeavor. He let out a tiring sigh... While, on the inside, he was very much happy... Even proud, of them both.
'They put in so much time and effort to have their voices to be heard, all for the sake to have people to see how much of a brute Todoroki-kun truly is.' He thought, not sounding in the least worry or in the bit sorry for the Flame Hero. 'Although, they do know, given the certain amount of time had passed, he won't be held accountable for all his past mistakes they'd gathered and stated that he caused... But, surely, with the Chief of Police taking an interest and with the combine help from Toshi's friend and his own son's testimony... Who knows? Maybe, it'll be enough.'
Night Thorn, being silent the entire time, slowly kneeled down on the floor. He gently brought her attention from her brother towards him, getting her to look her in the eyes.
"...You've done well, White Wolf." He whispered, patting her on the head, again. "You and your friends. -He looked over at Izuku, then Iida, and then back at her.- You four stood up against one of Japan's most wanted S-Ranked Villains and, even with the odds against you and gaining injuries and taking such risks, you took him down and succeeded. High schoolers, who already endured fighting villains in barely your first week of high school, defeated the Hero Killer, himself... And while nobody outside of this room and/or who hadn't been there to witness the truth will ever know what went on, those of us who knows and had been there will always remember the true hero of last night will be."
He leaned forward and nuzzled his wolf-skull snout on the top-side of Sierra's wrapped up head... A low rumble left his throat.
"...You young ones, have done us all proud."
In response, the fourteen year-old let out a slight yip and leaned in, wrapping her left-arm around his chest to give him a one-arm hug. She kept her grip on the I.V. pole to remain standing, as she nuzzled her face against his jawline and throat.
"...Arigatō." She whispered, letting out a small-purr when his hand stroke her hair. "If you hadn't stepped in to take the credit-..."
She didn't need to finish that last part; to be reminded on what the Chief of Police of Hosu almost decided to do, still made her and even Izuku sick to their stomachs that he could've be given the credit... And, for the fact that he almost tried to burn, not just their crazed uncle, but also themselves.
*Knock! Knock*
"Shitsurei shimasu (Excuse me)!"
Everyone turned and saw a male doctor, a clipboard in hand, opening the door and entering... Revealing to being Jeremy Mūa's friend and colleague, Kota.
He gave them a wave, beaming at Izuku and Sierra.
"Sorry to barge in, but we gotten your guys' test results." He informed, looking down at the papers on his clipboard.
The three teenagers gotten worried.
Kota turned to Sierra.
"Ra Ra," he started. "If you and your supervisor can please come with me to discuss it, in private."
Immediately, Izuku gotten worried.
"W-Wait," he slightly quivered. "What's going on? Is there something wrong with Sis? Why can't I come?"
Kota gave him a sad-smile.
"It's not that you can't come, Izuku-kun. It's just mandatory standards that we follow." The doctor explained. "We just want to discuss with her in private about her physics. -He leaned in a bit, putting his left-hand over his cheek... Whispering low.- ...Her personal physics."
...
...Getting at what he was saying, Izuku's eyes widened.
Iida, also hearing the doctor's words... But, thinking he was talking about something else, blushed... Then, immediately, sided with the doctor.
"You best go with the doctor, Sierra-chan!" He cried... In the back of his mind, he wishes that he can move one of his hands to form his usual chopping moments. "Midoriya-kun and I shall wait for our reports to come in!"
Night Thorn, staring at the doctor, as he slowly got to his feet, gently gave his charge a gentle push on her shoulder to move.
"We best check on those results, White Wolf." He stated, getting them to follow the doctor out of the room.
Right before they left, Sierra turned to stare at her brother... There was a hint of worry and sadness in her greenish-grey eyes.
...
...
...But, she gave him her best smile.
"Izu," she said. "The others may still be worried about the text you've sent them, last night. You can use my phone to call them, and tell them that we're okay."
Realizing that he's forgotten about the others and had given his phone to Kenji and Manual to read all their gatherings on Endeavor, Izuku nodded his head.
"Right," he replied. "I'll see you soon, by the time you get back from your test results. And, Sis? -He gave her a thumbs up... Flashing her his smile.- ...It'll be fine. No matter how it's going to turn out, Recovery Girl and her colleagues will figure out the cure... I know it."
...Sierra gave him a nod... A small-smile on her face... Then, with her I.V. pole in tow, followed Night Thorn and Kota out of the room.
He still had a smile on his face, staring at the door where he last saw his god-sister.
...
...In his heart, he didn't like that look on her face. Especially, the way her eyes told him something that he doesn't know, that she apparently seems to know what's going on and didn't want to tell him what it was.
...
...
...
...Just like, when she didn't tell him on what was going on... With Arsenius.
"Midoriya-kun?"
Iida's voice brought him out from his train of thoughts.
"Is something wrong?"
Shaking his head, Izuku beamed at Iida's.
"Everything's fine," he assured. "Just-... Can't help but worry for Sis, is all."
Gran Torino watches his charge make his way towards Sierra's bed, where he knew he'll find his sister's costume and her phone in the fake-fur's hidden pocket.
...
...
...His eyes narrowed at the boy, seeing the clear sign of fear and worry in his forest-green eyes.
...
...
...The same look, he would have... When he would worry for Nana's wellbeing and safety.
"And so, he turned to the dude and said, 'That's not my wife! That's my dog!'." Kota recited, laughing at the funniest moment he saw on television.
...
...Unfortunately for him, neither Night Thorn nor Sierra found that amusing.
"...I fail to see how that would be considered funny," the Shadow Weaver Hero commented. "To me, it just sounds stupid."
Kota turned to the Pro Hero, still having that smile on his face.
"That's the idea," he replied. "The show is meant to be stupid, but bring out a humorous feeling to the viewing audience. Plus, a lot of their jokes are, actually, hilarious."
Night Thorn looked down at his charge, who shrugged her shoulders. Also, not getting how Kota found the show so funny.
At least he wasn't the only one who feels left in the dark.
Seeing neither of them understanding his sense of humor, Kota quickly gave up and continued to lead them to the room to talk in.
...A few doors down, they reached their destination.
He turned to the two, beaming.
"Well, here we are." He announced, grabbing the handle to pull it back. "Oh! And Ra Ra, we have a surprise visitor... And, just to give you a heads up, he can't stand to see you."
Sierra's eyes widened at the emphasize when he said 'can't stand', making her feel nervous on who she would know he's referring to.
Night Thorn was confused to her sudden nervousness.
"Is this supposed to be a joke of some sort?" He asked the young doctor.
Kota snickered at the girl.
"You know this was bound to happen, Little Sis." He lightly scolded, slowly pulling the door back. "And when he heard that you, Izuku and two other friends are here, he couldn't sit still and demanded to see you."
The Shadow Weaver Hero gave him a blank look. He folded his arms over his chest.
"Now I'm completely positive, to believe that you are making this of a joke."
Kota snickered at his response.
"Oh, it is, and I'm on a roll."
Behind the door, a grumble of annoyance could be heard from within the room.
"Enough with the puns, already, Ko!"
...Sierra let out a nervous whimper to that tone of voice.
Kota chuckled at the voice.
"All right, Moo." He sighed out, before opening the door and letting the three of them enter the office of their boss.
...There, in a wheelchair, in a hospital gown and having a very deep scowl on his slight freckled face, is Jeremy Mūa.
The head of the hospital, being a middle-aged man with thin-grey hair and a slight baldness on top, pinched the bridge of his nose, pushing up his glasses.
"For reals, Tsuchi-san." He muttered underneath his breadth. "While many of us appreciate your sense of humor and giving us the joy of laughter in a hostile working facility, these are one of those situations that isn't the appropriate time to be coming up with jokes."
...
...The smile on Kota's face, as if somebody got a wet rag and wiped his face clean, completely left his face.
He let out a deep sigh.
"...Right..." He sighed out.
Sierra felt her brother staring at her the entire time they came in and still staring at her, as she and Night Thorn went to take their seats... With the girl sitting in the second chair in the middle of the room, in-between her supervisor and her brother.
She kept her grip on the I.V. pole, as she finally mustered the courage to face her older-brother.
...
...She flashed him a nervous smile.
"H-Hey, Moo." She greeted, with a slight quiver in her tone. "You're starting to look a lot bet-"
"Why?"
Just one word completely cut her off from starting a light conversation with her brother... And to have her drop the facade she attempted to fool her brother to not see her true emotions.
Both his hands clenched into tight fists on the armrests of his wheelchair.
His grayish-blue eyes showed deep anger and disappointment... But, also, pure sadness and fear. If his tears weren't enough to show what he's feeling right now.
Sierra swallowed at the dark look on his face, as he slightly hunched over in his seat.
"Moo-"
"Why didn't you tell us?!" He cried out.
She flinched from his yelling, even when she was expecting it to happen.
...The fourteen year-old knew what he was talking about.
She lowered her head, unable to try and say something to cheer him up. Let alone, soothe his fears and assure him that she's all right.
Night Thorn, resting a hand on her shoulder, stared at the head doctor.
"I assume that you're one of the colleagues working with Recovery Girl?" He assumed.
The older-doctor nodded his head.
"The Miracle Healer, as I am known to the public." He introduced himself, as he looked down at his papers. "...Although, I have to say, this form of injury and the chemical compound of the poison, is definitely at the top of my list as being the most problematic to not be able to figure out."
He then stared down at the girl... Sadness towards her, flashed in his yellow-eyes.
"And, that you happen to be a family member to one of our greatest staff workers, makes this even more painful to tell you what's going on with your body right now. -He turned to Kota.- If you would be so kind as to help, Tsuchi-san."
The younger-doctor came over to stand beside the head doctor... And, when the lights turned off, the head doctor's eyes glowed a bright whitish-blue color, as he stared at the wall, which was a whiteboard, behind Night Thorn and the two half-siblings.
Kota was given the papers and headed for the whiteboard. In both hands, the reports and x-rays of Sierra's condition.
The two half-siblings and Night Thorn turned their seats to stare at the whiteboard.
"I read the reports when it was first documented... When you were brought in, from that burning motel." He started, instructing Kota which one of the x-ray pictures to pull out and, with a magnet, stuck it on the wall. "As you can see here, this is what it looks like, when you had your last physical examine, a few days after you turned fourteen to send U.A. that you're healthy enough to take the Entrance Exams."
...It showed the full view of the muscles of her back, with the faint structure of her spine and veins being present.
...
...Only, instead of red, like the muscle should be... It was a dark-purple. Like a deep bruise.
Even when he blinked, the bright lights continued to remain on, as three head doctor instructed Kota to pull out the next x-ray picture.
"This is a picture on what your back was, when Recovery Girl was examining you, during the Sports Festival."
Like the first picture, the structure of her back muscle, spine and vein was shown.
...
...
...But, the color of the dark-purple... Was pure-black.
Jeremy stared at the screen, as he reached over with his right-hand to grab for her left.
...
...The tightening of his hand was more than enough to tell her how much he was truly scared at the sight of her back's condition, and seemed ready to jump out from his wheelchair on what her back looks like right now.
...
...
...And, when the third x-ray picture came up, he literally almost jumped right out and, probably, would've forced himself to walk to head for the nearest trashcan when he saw what the image showed him and the others.
"...This, is the condition of your back, last night."
...
...
...The muscle of her back... It was completely wrong.
On some of the areas, mostly at the shoulders and behind the stomach... They look as if acid had eaten away parts of the muscles, leaving hole-like wounds. They even see very few blood-vessels, veins... Parts of the bone from the ribcage, being exposed.
Sierra, seeing the imagery difference between the three pictures... She didn't really say much. She didn't even know what to say.
...It was really too much for her to comprehend what she was seeing that's going on within her body.
"As you can see, it appears that the poison in your back is finally causing the damages Recovery Girl had informed you, during the Sports Festival." The doctor pointed out, bringing out a laser pen and having a red-light move towards the third imagery. "We're very much taken back when we saw these. -He circled at the hole-like wounds.- In all my years in medical school, I've never encountered a poison that could cause such an effect to the muscle like acid to what would best be compared to as a flesh eating disease. -He turned to the girl.- Be honest with us, Child: Have you've noticed a lack of sense of feeling through your back?"
The fourteen year-old pushed her mind to think, to recall the last time she felt any numbness coming from her back.
...
...
...Then, to her horror, she realized the last time she was able to feel anything from her backside.
"...Two days ago," she answered. "I was training with Nasha and Nobu... When, the poison triggered... And, when I-..."
She cut herself off from continuing... Her stomach, without warning started to do flips.
She laid a hand over her mouth, as her right coiled around her midsection.
Jeremy's greyish-blue eyes widened at her actions, as she got to her feet and quickly went towards his boss' trashcan and emptied her stomach of its stomach acid and whatever liquid she was able to keep down.
"Ra Ra!" He cried, wheeling towards his sister to be beside her, as she started to dry-heave when she vomited three small cups of liquids out of her system.
Kota, thinking fast, left the room to get some water for her.
The head doctor deactivating his Quirk, kneeled in front of the girl and helped pushed back her hair to not get in front of her face.
...His yellow-eyes widened, when she lifted her head... And saw the trail of blood clinging to the skin of her lips and chin.
"This is just as I was worried about." He said, grabbing her by her arms to help guide her to lay down on the ground.
As Kota came back to the room, a paper cup in one hand and a bottle water in the other, the head doctor handed him the trashcan.
"Take this to the lab, Tsuchi-san." He ordered, pulling out his stethoscope. "And don't tell anybody, except my fellow colleagues, that it's from her."
Nodding his head, the younger-doctor took the trashcan, looking away and tying the top of the plastic-bag to conceal as much of the smell as possible, and took off running for the research lab to deliver them a new sample from their patient.
He laid the stethoscope over her chest, ignoring the slight shiver when she felt the cold-metal touching her chest when he pulled up her shirt.
...
...
...
*Thum-* Ba-dump~! Thump *Thump-Thu-* Ba-dump~! Ba-dump~! *Thump-Thump-Th-* Thump! Thump! Ba-dump~! Ba-dump~!
Bang!
Sierra gasped at the force, her chest slightly raising from her heart slamming against her chest. Coughing, as small splatter of blood rose from her lips.
...
...
...The doctor lowered his head, removing his stethoscope from his ears to lay back around his neck.
"...It's just as I feared."
Night Thorn remained in his seat... His head, also, lowered... He, too, knows what the doctor was going to tell the them.
Jeremy, horrified at what he saw, turned to his boss. Angry tears ran down his face.
"What's going on?!" He demanded, holding tightly to the armrest of his chair. "Nao (Straight, Center)-san! What the hell is wrong with my baby sister?!"
His boss could only give him a look of sympathy and grief, before he could even bring himself to say it.
"Her condition is getting worse... And, I'm afraid her reports and this last x-ray, clearly shows the gravity of her ailment."
Turning his Quirk back on, he went over to the whiteboard and placed it on the fourth magnet... When he took a step back, they all saw a serious, disturbing sight on the image.
...It was her stomach... With three large, dark, hole-like spots inside of it... Mixed in with some signs of burns.
Masaru (Victory, Excellence) Nao didn't need to see the looks on their faces; he, too, along with his colleagues, reacted very poorly to what they saw on the screen.
"It's very severe. The poison had caused these burns and hole-marks in her stomach... Resulting, in our best conclusion, to a very severe case of stomach ulcer. -He turned to the girl.- ...And, I'm sorry to tell you this, Child, but... From how the rapid results of your condition worsening... At best estimation, you'll probably have a few months left, before the poison reaches its maximum state. And when that happens-..."
He didn't need to say anymore to what would happen.
Sierra, sitting on the ground, pulled her legs to rest against her chest, staring down at her arms... Over and over, her mind processed what the doctor just told her and her brother.
...Jeremy slumped in his wheelchair... His tears dripping down from his widened eyes.
...
...Night Thorn stared down at his charge... His own heart going out to the girl.
'...I'm so sorry, my charge... I'm so sorry...'
Sierra remained quiet, even as she and Night Thorn left Masaru's office... After saying her goodbye to her brother and giving him a big hug... Who, after collecting himself, told her what their blood-grandmother tried to do, while she was away.
...And, he actually prevented her to leave, until she made him a promise, a Special Promise, that, if she goes through another fit from the poison in public, she'll tell Shōta about her condition.
It just amazes her that he didn't try to make her quit her dreams and leave U.A., in his attempt on believing it'll buy Recovery Girl and her colleagues some extra time to finding a cure for his sister.
...It was possible, he didn't want to take away what's left of her dream and leave her with nothing to bring her what little happiness she'll have left in this world. Plus, if she was going to end up dying and this is what she wanted, best give her the chance to experience what her god-brother and classmates get to have.
Of course, he's going to tell Joshua and Mikyla the dreadful news about their sister's health... Though, she doesn't know if they'll tell Inko right now, or at a later time, about her condition.
...She knew, eventually, that she'll have to tell Izuku the news.
Night Thorn knew trying to say something comforting or anything that's directly to the grievous news to beat health, won't do her any good and will make him feel worse.
...He had his Brothers and Sisters-in-Arms hear the news the doctor give them, through his shadows, so they can contact Recovery Girl on the serious change in Sierra's condition her colleague just learnt.
...The only thing he can do for her, is lay a hand on top of her head and run his fingers through her wavy/curly-hair.
"...However the outcomes turns out, you mustn't give up hope." He said, keeping his eyes ahead of them. "So long as they keep searching for the answer, no matter how deep within the dark it lies, and you keep hanging on to give them that hope to continue looking, they'll find the antidote and free you from this fate of yours."
...
...She didn't say anything to his words... But, her reaching a hand out and grasping on to his robe with her right, told him of her silent display of gratitude.
...
...
...Then, they turned the corner... And found a shocking sight before them.
"What the hell is the meaning of this?! Let me through, so that I can take Shōto back to my agency and continue to groom him to become the greatest hero!"
It was Endeavor, himself, making a commotion outside of her and friends' hospital room. Standing before the Flame Hero, in front of the door, both Kenji and Manual stood.
...Both glaring at the Number Two Pro Hero. Their arms folded over their chests.
Neither were going to move aside to let him in.
"...Endeavor." Kenji growled out... Then, to stun the hero, grabbed for her right-arm. "You're going to have to come with me. Woof!"
He glared at the Dog Quirk User, almost as if offended that he dare to touch him with his hand-paw.
"'Go with you'?" He repeated, sneering at the Animal Quirk User. "To where, Mutt?"
Kenji glared at the hero that, purposely, mocked him by calling him an insulting name.
Manual stepped up... His angry face remaining firm.
"Endeavor, you are being charged for attempted assault over two minors." He informed. "...And, after that issue is settled, you'll also be charged and questioned, for many past offense of the Law of Ethics... And, committing the act of illegal action, of Quirk Marriage."
Hearing the last two words, Endeavor reacted and yanked his arm from Kenji's grip.
...
...He gave them a deep scowl, as his flames slightly rose and started to go wild.
"...Did Shōto tell you that?" He growled.
His hands clenched into tight fist. His fire seemed to grow slightly larger.
Instinctually, dogs aren't a big fan of fire and high intense heat when the temperature is normal or slightly higher in the warm seasons. But, Kenji remained firm in his place.
"Your pup didn't bring up the topic of your choice of finding a mate, but both he and his older-brother, Natsuo, through the phone, did confirmed that you have forced and bought an eighteen year-old girl to be your ma-"
"SHŌTO!"
In his rage, he pushed back both the Chief of Police and Normal Hero, resulting both to fall to the ground, yanked the door open and started to storm in.
Sierra had little time to think, when she let go of her I.V. pole and ran for the the Flame Hero, ignoring the harsh pulling of her I.V. being removed from her arm and hand. Before he could fully get into the room, she wrapped her arms around his left-arm.
The forty-five year-old adult glared down at the girl, who glared right back at him. He didn't need to think for a second to remember her.
"...You..." He sneered, slightly lifting his arm to get a better look at her.
Her strong hearing picked up the fast beating from Shōto... She can hear his fear through his heart... His fear, on what his father was going to do to her.
Iida was just as startled at seeing the how enraged the Flame Hero was, and even called out to Sierra when she went to stop him from getting to their friend.
The fourteen year-old was very much afraid on what the hero would do to her for getting in his way, and probably still harboring some anger towards her at what he may had heard her say during her fight with Bakugō at the Sports Festival... But, she was more afraid on what he would do to her friend, once he gets him out of the hospital and behind closed doors of his agency.
And she wasn't going to give him that chance to hurt him.
"Let go of me, Girl." Endeavor growled out, grabbing for her left-shoulder to force her off of him.
Sierra winced at his large-hand grabbing at her shoulder and fingers touching her back, but she tightened her grip on his arm.
"Endeavor! Stand down! Woof!" Kenji barked, grabbing for the hero's right-arm, to remove it off of Sierra, as Manual got his left-shoulder.
"You can't force him to leave the hospital!" The Normal Hero stated, forcing the hand off of the girl. "You need to come with us, to settle your past act-!"
"Get off of me!" Endeavor yelled, yanking Kenji's hold off of him, and shoving Manual away. "Whatever Shōto and Natsuo had told you two, is all li-!"
"They didn't tell them about your past records, or your Quirk Marriage to their mother, Rei!" Sierra yelled, hoping that a security guard or somebody nearby would hear the commotion and get help. 'His fire is too strong for Night Thorn's shadows to endure. Even if he has to hold back his flames, they're still strong enough to weaken the shadows.'
...
...
...
Endeavor's Turquoise-eyes showed a craze-look when the girl spoke his wife's name... And he didn't like that, one bit... Almost as much, as he didn't like anybody, even a female, to stand in his way.
...
...
...And he knew, she was the one to had told the police of his secret 'matrimony' with the mother of his children... To give him the child he wanted, that would be able to beat All Might.
...
...
...
...She sees his right-hand raising in the air.
"...You don't get to say her name...!" He yelled, starting to bring down his hand.
Her eyes widened. Having no time to either morph into an animal, or to let go. Then, she clenched her eyes shut, waiting for the slap.
...
...
...Instead, she felt a gush of wind and, opening her eyes, found herself being pulled by a sturdy form... By her seething, fear-strickened god-brother, Izuku.
She found themselves on the ground, with Izuku curling both his arms around her smaller-form and her own arms, instinctually, clenching at his hospital-gown.
...
...Looking over his shoulder, she sees Night Thorn standing in front of a stunned Endeavor... His fist hitting the sheath of his sword-cane in place of Sierra, while the sword, itself, rested against his left-neck.
...
...A low snarl left the Shadow Weaver Hero.
...
...His blood-Ruby eyes staring deep into the depth of Endeavor's soul.
"...You hurt my charge, Enji Todoroki, and I'll give you a wound much worse than what you've intended to give to her or your child."
The Flame Hero had been threatened in the past, all being from villains but very few would put up much of a fight to make him too concerned. But, to have another fellow hero, an Underground Hero that he only heard a few things about, to threaten him and to pull a weapon on him... Definitely caught him completely off guard.
Though, not as much as the Underground Pro Hero's eyes, within the darkness of the wolf-skull, glaring into the soul and making him feel violated.
He sneered at him, but made no move to pull away or to attack.
"Endeavor. -Kenji spoke up, getting back to his feet.- ...Stand down, or be charged for resisting a police officer."
The forty-five year-old was shocked by the orders, slightly turning his head to stare at the Dog Quirk User.
"Are you serious?!" He replied, growling. "He has a sword pulled on me, and still has it to my neck! Aren't you going to arrest him, or something?!"
Manual went over to the god-siblings, checking them over. He winced at the small-trail of blood coming off of Sierra's left-arm, but it wasn't too serious. Still, she needed to be checked out by doctors to get the I.V. back into her arm and continue to inject the electrolyze back into her body.
He glared up at the Flame Hero, appalled that he tried to attack an already injured child, in a hospital.
"You almost attacked Aizawa-chan, first!" He reminded. "He has every right to get in your way and keep you line, if you intended to harm a student that's interning at his agency!"
Too focused on the Normal Hero, that Endeavor didn't reacted until after feeling his right-arm being folded behind his back, to find himself starting to being handcuffed by Kenji.
And, of course, he pulled his arm away from the Dog Quirk User.
"Endeavor!" Kenji barked... At the same time he spoke out, a few police officers came from the other-side of the hallway and standing behind their chief.
...Clearly, none of them weren't confused as to why their boss has a pair of handcuffs in his hand-paws or Shadow Weaver having his weapon drawn out.
Kenji growled low at the slightly sweating Flame Hero.
"I'm giving you this final offer," he warned. "You can come with us, quietly, and without needing to be restrained. Or, we'll have you cuffed, and a Quirk Inhibitor Collar, for resisting arrest... And have everybody within and outside of the hospital, to witness the Number Two Pro Hero being arrested and forced into a police car. Woof!"
Endeavor can clearly see that he wasn't going to get out of this one. Even if he were to try and pay them off in exchange to keep them quiet, they weren't going to budge and take his money, no matter how much he's offering.
He turned to stare at his son... Who gave him an ugly, seething look... With a tear running down his right-eye.
...
...
...His son wasn't weak... He isn't suppose to be weak.
...
...
...And crying, in public... Is a sign of weakness.
He took a step towards his son.
"Shōto-!"
Click~!
His eyes widened, then looked down and saw that Kenji had, in fact, cuffed his right-wrist and went to do the same with his left.
Izuku kept his eyes on the Flame Hero the entire time. His grip on Sierra remained strong, despite the slight trembling in his right.
He couldn't believe that Endeavor would, actually, try to strike his sister, when she's a patient and right in front of the Chief of Police and another hero. Just for standing in his way from reaching his son, let alone saying his wife's name.
If he wasn't holding his sister, or I'd she wasn't next to the Flame Hero, he would've attacked Endeavor. He would care less about the consequences for attacking a Pro Hero, so long as he didn't reach his friend and hurt Todoroki.
Manual remained beside the two teenagers, watching as Kenji and some of his men take a bow quiet, but still fuming Endeavor away from their hospital room and to take him to a police care to take him to the station.
Even when there Flame Hero was gone, the air was still tense and thick.
'Detective Tsukauchi did warn us that he was prone to snap when bringing up a topic of his personal life, but even his warning isn't enough to prepare us to watch him almost hit an injured minor.'
As Izuku helped Sierra to her feet, the Normal Hero reached into his pocket and presented the boy his phone.
"Here, Midoriya-kun." He said. "We were able to send all of your two's reports and information top our station, along with verifying some of those reports with his two sons stated to being accurate. We were even able to contact Detective Tsukauchi of the issue and he's coming over to the station, during the interview with Endeavor and act as a lie detector to inform us if he's lying or not."
The dark-green/black hair teen nodded his head, gently taking his phone back, while keeping his left-arm around his god-sister.
Night Thorn let out a deep sigh, calming the negative response his shadows ate thinking and wanting to do to Endeavor... Slightly attempting to taint his thoughts to go down to the Hosu Police Station and keep true to his word to give him an injury worthy enough for almost hurting his charge.
Luckily, he has more than enough control over his Quirk to not do so.
'As tempting as it sounds, I'm afraid there's much more pressing matters that's in need of my attention than some brute of a cruel man.'
Two Days Later: Nighttime...
She stands in the middle of the circle, surrounded by the seven founders of the Night Flower Hero Agency. Dressed in her hero costume.
She shows no sign of fear, worry or concern on what's going on.
The adults held a candle in both of their hands... With Night Thorn holding his by a silver-candlestick with his right-hand... In his left, a black-sash... And, a silver-dagger.
All around them, the wind, crickets, owls, ravens and fireflies witness the ceremony going on.
Night Thorn walks towards the girl, until he stands before her.
"...Sierra Aizawa," he presented. "Tonight, we are gathered here, under the blessed sky, in the time of night, watched over by the moon, herself... To celebrate your last night here, at the Night Flower Hero Agency, as an internship... And, to fully welcome you, as a member of our family."
He slowly hunched over to her, holding out the silver-dagger towards her.
"Take this dagger, and place your mark."
Without saying a word, she took the dagger, along with the sash... And, without hesitation, she rested the blade against her left-arm... And delivered a deep cut underneath her shoulder on her arm.
The blood glided down the blade, underneath her grip and into the sash. Then, wiping the blood with the sash, she held it and the blade to Night Thorn.
The Shadow Weaver Hero, putting the blade away in his sleeve but keeping the sash in his hand, kneeled before the girl, setting the candlestick on the ground. Then, after laying both hands on hader shoulders, leaned forward at the cut. And, opening the jaw of his wolf-skull mask, stuck his tongue out...
...
...And, with one swipe from his tongue, licked the blood off her arm and over the cut.
Here then brought up the sash and tied it over the wound... Making certain that the white cherry-blossom, the symbol of his agency, is visible for all to see.
When he's satisfied that the sash will stay firmly on her arm and grabbed the candlestick, he stood up to his full height.
He stares down at the girl, as he raised his candlestick high in the air. The others followed suit, as they raised both hands to the sky.
The wind picked up, ruffling their hero suits.
"Brothers! Sisters!" Night Thorn cried out, lifting his head to the sky. "We welcome this child into our pack! Our family!"
"Yes!" They cried out, staring at the girl the entire time.
"So long as she carries the mark of our agency, our organization, she will be known and acknowledged as one of us! As a part of us!"
"Yes!"
He stared down at Sierra, who stared up at him, and then up at the sky, before lifting his head back up at the sky... And released a mighty screech of a howl.
"MOON! WE WELCOME AND EMBRACE THIS CHILD INTO OUR PACK! WE ACCEPT HER AS SHE IS, AND NOW REQUEST OF YOU TO WELCOME HER AND BLESS HER WITH YOUR LIGHT, JUST AS YOU'D DONE FOR US! -He reached his left-hand for the girl, who took his hand with her right.- HEAR HER AND BLESS THE NAME THAT SHE WILL GO BY, AS HER HERO PERSONA!"
Taking the cue, Sierra morphed into her dragon-form. Her right-hand, morphed into claws, remained in Night Thorn's hand. And, taking a deep breath, let out the loudest screech of a roar she ever let out.
"MOON!" She screamed. "HEAR ME! BLESS ME WITH YOUR LIGHT, AND WISDOM! FOLLOW AND GUIDE ME, AS I CARRY THE WAYS OF THE NIGHT FLOWER PACK! THE WAYS OF MY BLOOD, THE AIZAWA CLAN, HAD AND WILL FOLLOW IN THE WAYS OF AN UNDERGROUND HERO! SEE ME AS I AM! A HERO! WHO EVERYONE WILL KNOW ME FOR! HERE ME, MOON! FOR I AM THE THERIANTHROPY HERO: ANIU!"
As she screamed out her Hero Name, the wind picked up all around them and from each member, from Kimama to Adahy, the fire on their candles would be snuffed out and their remains raised towards the moon.
To join in with the fire, Sierra reached deep within herself and released a blast of violet-red fire to the sky. Of course, the fire didn't reach anywhere near the moon; only a few hundred feet, before it imploded, like firework.
The wind, eventually, died down. The crickets, owls and ravens seemed to have gone quiet. The fireflies continued to dance all around them, not in the least startled by the wind or fire.
Sierra, hearing the echoes of her fire imploding die down, morphed back into her human-self. She let out a deep sigh, staring down at Night Thorn's hand that kept its grip on her right.
The others stare at her... None of them were smiling.
Not because they didn't approve of her joining.
...
...
...
...It was because, they knew, from the news they heard through the shadows, that she may not be around to experience being a Night Flower Member for very long, if the doctors don't find the antidote on time.
Night Thorn let go of the candlestick... Then, dropping down to his knees and pulling her down with him, enveloped her into a tight hug.
He didn't say anything... He didn't need to say anything.
Sierra buried her face into the crook of his neck, wrapping her arms as far as she could and embraced the Shadow Weaver Hero.
A few sniffles could be heard from Kimama, Natsumi and Nava, lowering their hands and dropping their own candles to the ground. Kenshin and Nobu each muttered a small-prayer... Batu had an arm over his face, grunting out a curse to Arsenius and repeating "Why?" under his breath.
Adahy stared up ahead of him, staring at the river and the trees, as he continued to embrace the fourteen year-old girl.
...
...
...He then communicated through Nobu's Quirk to speak to the others.
"...Can some of you make a steady beat of a drum?"
They didn't need to ask him why... It was something he had waited for so long to do.
Batu pulled his spear-sword from the ground behind him... And, with Nobu and Kenshin raising their right-feet, stomped the butt of his weapon into the ground to join the Nobu and Kenshin's stomp.
Sierra lifted her head, curious as to what they were doing... When, she heard it.
...
...
...Adahy, raising his head to the sky, the snout of his wolf-skull mask opened... Made what sounded like chanting, a mixture of words of a language that she hadn't heard in such a long time.
...
...
...He was singing, or chanting, a traditional Shoshone song.
Nobu, Kenshin and Batu kept a firm, steady beat into the ground, as they and their Sisters-in-Arms listen to their leader singing his native tongue and heritage... Something that always brings him comfort and something to help him remember a time that he was somebody else, before he became Night Thorn.
Sierra remained quiet, as Night Thorn continued to sing, listening to the rhythm of the boys thumping the ground and the gentle tone of Adahy's voice.
...
...
...
...She rested her head back against his shoulder.
"...Aishen (Thank you)," she whispered in her Native American tongue. "Aishen... Granduncle Ohanzee..."
Night Thorn continued singing, as if he didn't hear her call her by his true identity... Though, the tightening of his hands on her small-body told the teenager, without a doubt, that he was truly happy that she knew he was her great-granduncle... Her grandfather's brother.
In his mind, he wished he could use his Quirk to prevent the night from ever ending. To prevent tomorrow from ever having to come, and give him all the time he wants to help the doctors find the answer to the antidote and save his ailing grandniece from dying.
...
...
...And, to find the murderous bastard that killed his granddaughter and put him through hell... Who, somehow, escaped Tartarus and is somewhere in the city.
...
...
...
...Most likely, amongst villains, who value his Quirk to being of great values for their own benefits to cause chaos and destruction.

*: I did a height comparison between Manual and Kenji Tsuragamae, in order to try and figure out how tall the chief is... At best, the height comparison I used, tells me that the chief is probably, at best/most likely, 7'5". So, I'm gonna go with that.
