Aria Smurf is my O.C. and belongs to me, while SmurfAggie belongs to I. M. Rally. I also do not own the song or the lyrics that I use today too. Now, let's get this chapter rolling!
After an eventful evening at the Hearts and Hugs Day dance, Smurfette and Aria have decided to give dating one another a try. Aria, who was extremely happy about this, told their friend SmurfAggie, who was happy for them both. As Aria then went inside her house to turn in for the night, something wicked occurred because the next morning, Smurfstorm found her motionless body in a torn-up nightgown in what looked like a pool of blood on the floor while covered in cuts and bruises, signifying that someone had attacked her. Now, everyone could only hope that Aria was still alive and had not died from her injuries.
Smurfstorm held her unconscious sister and gently shook her while shouting in a panicked tone of voice, "Wake up! Please, Ari! Don't go towards the light! Run from it"! Suddenly, slowly, but surely, Aria's eyes began to crack open as she was in absolute pain but had enough strength to mutter, "Stormer...is that you"? Smurfstorm was relieved but began to panic again when Aria winced and screamed in pain, holding her stomach. Smurfstorm gently removed one of Aria's hands and saw for herself what was wrong: Aria had a deep cut on her stomach, and it looked awful. Papa Smurf and Smurfwillow came running in and saw for themselves what had happened in the nick of time. Papa then gave a shrill whistle while shouting, "Dabbler! We need a stretcher immediately! Aria's hurt, and we can't risk hurting her even more." At almost the speed of light, Dabbler Smurf, the village's doctor, came rushing in with a stretcher as Smurfwillow and Smurfstorm helped her onto it. Before pushing her out, Dabbler gave a sincere smile to Smurfstorm, saying, "Do not fret. I will make sure she recovers and won't let anyone else near her unless she's ok with it," before pushing Aria to his mushroom, with Papa following him. Meanwhile, despite her clothes being covered in Aria's blood, Smurfstorm hugged Smurfwillow tightly while sobbing into her shoulder, saying, "I can't believe this is happening all over again! We lost her once to the tornado. We can't lose her again, Willow! We just can't,"! Smurfwillow slowly rubbed Smurfstorm's back while trying to comfort her, saying with a reassuring voice, "It'll be ok. Dabbler and Papa will do everything they can to help Aria get well. She's a fighter, much like you and Smurflily, and I'm sure she's not going to let her injuries stop her so easily."
Smurfstorm's sobs started to lighten up, but the warrior smurf then asked a question that almost broke Smurfwillow's heart. Slowly, she asked, "But...what will happen if Aria doesn't get better? What if she...smurfs"? Smurfwillow bit her tongue, unable to answer that question, but knew how to respond by saying, "Well, let's not think about that yet. Let's try to be supportive and help Aria fight through this by giving her all the love and kindness we can muster. I know you and Smurflily can definitely provide a lot of love for her. Besides, she wouldn't want you to be upset because she got hurt. She'd want you and lily to be there for her and to help her through this moment. You think you can do that"? Smurfstorm rid her eyes from any more tears that were starting to form as she took a deep breath and calmly said, "Ok," as the female elder smiled. Soon, they both walked out of the house so they could slowly break the news to everyone, much to their dismay and horror once they did tell them.
Smurfette was downright devastated and wanted to do everything in her power to help Aria in whatever way she could. Smurfette rushed to her house and grabbed a basket, a soft handknitted quilt, a bunch of handpicked marigolds, which were Aria's favorite flowers, and surprisingly, a navy blue guitar. Smurfette made that guitar a couple of days ago and wanted to give it to Aria on Hearts and Hugs Day but forgot to. Now, Smurfette knew that the power of music could be enough to help Aria feel better because back when they first met, Aria had told her how music was a special part of her. That music helped her convey deep messages that she sometimes could not say by talking. Plus, she also mentioned how music could heal all wounds, metaphorically speaking. While she isn't that good on the guitar yet, she's been able to master one song, and Smurfette hoped that singing it would at least make her recovering girlfriend feel more comfortable and better emotionally. With these items, she started to head to Dabbler's mushroom, stopping by Baker's to fill her basket with smurfberry cookies, Aria's favorite. Then, she started the walk to Dabbler's mushroom and was surprised to see Smurfstorm pacing in front of the door.
She slowly approached her, asking, "How's it going in there? Any news yet,"? Smurfstorm shook her head, saying in concern, "Papa said that Aria's in surgery. She has to get stitches for the cut on her stomach. He said it'll be a while before anyone can see her. What about you? What brings you here"? Smurfette slowly placed her things down while saying, 'I brought some things for Aria, hoping they can make her feel better. A quilt to keep her warm, her favorite smurfberry cookies, a bouquet of marigolds, and a guitar. I want to play her a song since I know she likes music so much." Smurfstorm had a small smile as she said, "You really care about her just as much as we do. Aria sure made the right choice falling for you, you lucky smurf." Smurfette then frowned and looked down at her feet while saying, "I sure don't feel lucky. It's my fault for letting her go home by herself. If I knew that this would happen, I would've offered her to spend the night. I'm supposed to be her girlfriend and care for her, and now she's in there hurt, alone, and scared, and I can't do anything about it." Smurfstorm placed a reassuring hand on Smurfette's shoulder while saying, "Hey, don't bang yourself up about it. I feel you. In fact, I'm feeling the same way. But please don't assume that it's our fault. How could any of us expected some mystery assailant to sneak in unnoticed and attack Aria like that? I mean, what did she even do to deserve it?! she's a kind, caring smurf who puts others first before herself"! Smurfstorm could feel herself choking up and starting to cry again as Smurfette was now the one comforting her, hugging the warrior smurf while saying, "I know, but right now, we can do the best we can by comforting her and being there when she needs us. After all, that's what good friends, girlfriends, and sisters do."
Smurfstorm smiled back at Smurfette, saying, "True," while ridding her eyes from the developing tears again. While Smurfette allowed her tears to fall, two voices joined in, saying in unison, "We completely agree." Those voices belonged to Smurflily, carrying five sleeping bags, and SmurfAggie, who was carrying Aria's clothes, a huge picnic basket full of food that can fill 10 stomachs for a week, five pillows, and blankets. Smurflily laid out the sleeping bags while saying, "I felt awful that Aria got hurt, and I wanted to stick by her side until she was well again just like you, Stormy, but since we're not allowed to visit her yet, Aggie and I improvised." SmurfAggie added, "We brought sleeping bags so we can camp out here together until Aria can go home. We won't leave our spot, even for food, hence my picnic basket." Smurfette and Smurfstorm were surprised as Smurfstorm said, 'That's really sweet of you guys, but I don't know if that idea will pass with Willow or Papa." Then, Smurfwillow joined up with the group, saying, "No worries, Stormy. They told me about their idea earlier, and I allowed it, even asked if I could join, and I think that it's so nice that you four are willing to stay out there in support for Aria." Another voice joined the group, shouting, "Make it seven,' as Smurflbossom, Hefty, and Clumsy, who were also carrying sleeping bags, along with other essentials, joined up with them. Hefty spoke up for the group, saying, "We want to join in on the support camp-out too." Clumsy added, 'Yeah, we care about Aria too! We're willing to stay out all week if we have to." The group broke into laughter as SmurfAggie commented, "While we are doing this for her, in a way, this can be kind of fun. Like a backyard sleepover." Smurfblossom shared a small smile as she said, 'Leave it to our bud Aggie to make a depressing situation like this fun." Smurfette began to smile too, saying, "Yeah, let's all try to be positive about this and make the experience enjoyable. I know Aria would want us to."
Smurflily, Hefty, and Clumsy nodded in agreement as Smurfstorm, though a little hesitant, decided to give it a try, smiling and saying, "Ok. For Ari, I will try to make this a fun experience too." So, for the rest of the day, while the group waited out for Aria's surgery to be finished, they shared stories, they told jokes, they played games, and they did their best to have fun despite the dire situation. Overall, this actually helped make them feel a lot better. Even Smurfstorm was having fun, though she remained concerned for Aria, hoping she'd be ok. As the sun was starting to set, Smurfwillow was teaching the group an old card game when Dabbler Smurf opened the door, making everyone get up and come towards him, almost shouting in unison, 'How's Aria? Is she ok"? Dabbler calmed them down before saying, "Now, there's no easy way to say this, so I'm going to come out and say it. The surgery...was a success. Aria is going to be alright." Everyone cheered and hugged one another, relieved that Aria would be ok. Smurfwillow bowed at Dabbler while saying, "Thank you, Dabbler, for helping Aria." Dabbler then smiled and said, "If anyone's to thank, it's you guys for finding her when you did. A little longer, and she'd been smurfed upon the hour." Smurflily then a hand on Smurfstorm's shoulder while saying, "Then, you have Stormy to thank you for going to get her and finding her real quick." Smurfstorm blushed and scratched the back of her head, saying, "Well, I just did what any other smurf would do if they found her. After all, she's not just our sister, but our best friend. I'd even give up my own life for her."
Dabbler had a huge smile as he said, "Well, thanks to everyone's help, Aria will be fine after a few days. She's currently sleeping off the anesthetics we gave her so she'd stay asleep throughout the surgery, but should awake by morning. She'll have to take it easy for a couple of days and not do so much vigorous activity for a week in case of the thread breaking since it was just stitched in. And she'll have to come to see me in two weeks to remove the thread officially if it doesn't break. But other than that, she will be able to return home tomorrow. You can come in to see her now, but one at a time, please! We don't want any hostility that might trigger an emotional reaction from her. While she is unconscious, her body and mind can pick up on outside sounds and movements. So proceed with utmost caution."
Hefty went first to see her as the sight made his hearts, the tattoo on his arm and the one in his chest, almost break. Aria was lying on the table with both her hands on top of her chest. She was wearing an oxygen mask that allowed her to breathe while she was unconscious, and the mask was connected to a long tube connected to a huge white machine that was blinking. Though you could not see it, you could tell that her stomach and waist were wrapped up in a white bandage, keeping the stitch safe in case of an accident. The cuts on her face and body have started to fade or become white, thin scars, luckily, but the bruises would take another day to heal. Aria was also wearing a patient's cloth as her torn nightgown was laid over a chair. Her hair had been let down after the surgery was complete, now it escalated down to her upper back, as earlier, her braid was pinned up, so it could remain out of the way throughout the surgery. Hefty came up to the sleeping girl as he said in a soft voice, "Hey, Ari. How're you feeling? I hope you get well. We all missed you so much today. We even stayed out in front of Dabbler's so we could be the first to see you." While Aria could not respond, Hefty could imagine Aria nodding and possibly laughing from hearing his story. After Hefty had his moment with Aria, Clumsy had his turn for the first time in a long time. He did not act clumsy mainly because he wanted Aria to have a safe environment to recover in. Though he did end up tripping out the door once his turn concluded. Then Smurflily, Smurfblossom, SmurfAggie ( who gave Dabbler Aria's clothes so she could change into them tomorrow ), and Smurfwillow had their turns seeing Aria as Smurfette followed tout suite with her gifts. She gave the basket of cookies and the flowers to Dabbler, who placed them on a nightstand. She then placed the quilt over Aria while saying, "I made you a quilt in case you woke up and got chilly."
Then, Smurfette pulled up a chair and brought the navy blue guitar forward while saying, "I also wanted to give you this guitar. I was supposed to give it to you yesterday, but I forgot, but I think now, more than ever, I should give it to you. You always told me how music could allow you to communicate meaningful messages and heal you when you are hurt or sad. I want you to get well, Ari, so, if you can, listen to this song, and I hope you like it." Slowly, Smurfette began to strum the guitar as best as possible and was producing a pretty sweet melody as she cleared her throat and began to sing, with her friends, Willow, Dabbler, and Papa watching.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Mine by Taylor Swift~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Smurfette: You were in the forest, searching for friends and family. You kept on moving and never looked back. I was created to wreak havoc and chaos but found the light that put me out on the right track.
I said, 'Can you believe it," as we're lying on the couch. The moment I could see it, yes, yes, I could see it now.
Do you remember, we were sitting there, by the water? You put your arm around me for the first time. You made an angel from a careless man's reformed daughter. You are the best thing that's ever been mine.
Flash forward, and we find your family at last. I thought that this would be our last goodbye. But we united thanks to your heart and caring nature. No one was more happier than you and I.
Then, you said you liked me, but my feelings were not figured out. We decided to move slowly, yes, yes, had lots to think about.
Do you remember, we were sitting there, by the water? You put your arm around me for the first time. You made an angel from a careless man's reformed daughter. You are the best thing that's ever been mine.
Do you remember all the village lights near the water? You saw me start to believe for the first time. You made an angel from a careless man's reformed daughter. You are the best thing that's ever been mine.
And I remember that night, 11 pm, as everything seemed to fall into my hands. Then, the next day, you're hurt and ripped away from me. I braced myself for the goodbye 'cause it's all I've ever known. But then, you took me by surprise.
Then, as Smurfette was about to sing the last part, something truly remarkable happened. Aria started to wake up and open her eyes, as Dabbler, Papa, and everyone else watched in absolute disbelief. Then, she surprised them again by singing the line with Smurfette.
Both: You said/I said, "I'll never leave you alone."
Smurfette gasped as she saw Aria, who was exhausted but happy to see her girlfriend as she smiled and ushered Smurfette to continue playing. Smurfette smiled and blushed right back as she continued to play the song as it reached its conclusion, with Aria now joining in.
Aria: Yeah, I remember how we felt, sitting by the water. And every time I look at you, it's like the first time. I fell in love with a careless man's reformed daughter. You are the best thing that's ever been mine.
Both: Hold on, make it last. Hold on, never turn back. You/I made an angel from a careless man's reformed daughter. You are the best thing that's ever been mine. Yeah, yeah
Smurfette: Do you believe it? (Both: Hold on)
Aria: We're gonna make it now! (Both: Hold on)
Both: And I can see it, yeah, yeah, I can see it now.
Smurfette had happy tears flowing as she placed the guitar down slowly before carefully hugging Aria, who hugged Smurfette right back. Once they separated, Aria then asked, "When did you learn how to play the guitar"? Smurfette blushed, answering, "Well, I've been teaching myself. I've tried to follow how you used to play your guitar, and Harmony gave me lessons on how to hold it and pluck the strings properly." Aria had a huge smile on her face as she replied, "Well, you play marvelously. A little shaky, but it's something we can work together on once I'm better, but I'm really grateful you did this, Smurfette. Thank you." Smurfette then kissed Aria on the cheek before saying, "I've got to go now, but I'll see you in the morning," before leaving Dabbler's mushroom, but not before waving at Aria, who began to blush while waving back. When Smurfette was gone, Aria then asked, "Are there any more visitors tonight, or is that it"? Dabbler nodded as he ushered Smurfstorm to come inside, the warrior smurf ecstatic to see her little sister again. She came up to Aria, asking, "How are you feeling, kid? Anything hurts,"? Aria placed a soft hand on her stomach while saying, "The stitches are a little irritating, and I'm exhausted, but other than that, I'm just fine, though it'll be a while before we can wrestle again." Smurfstorm chuckled as she responded with, "Well, either way, I'm thrilled that you're alright. I was scared you weren't going to make it. That cut seemed really deep." Papa interrupted by saying, "It was, and during the surgery, Dabbler was concerned about us being able to close it properly, but your sister's fighting spirit allowed us not to lose hope and do a successful stitch."
Aria scratched the back of her head as she flashed an embarrassed grin while saying, "It's not my fault. Stormer passed her fighting spirit along to me. It's in our bloodlines." Smurfstorm smirked and playfully tousled Aria's hair while saying, "Is it necessarily a bad thing? Having a tough mentality can be good, especially when it comes to survival and protection." Aria then winced in pain and held the back of her head as Smurfstorm quickly pulled her hand away, asking, "You ok"? Aria kept her left hand on where it hurt the most as she said, "Yeah, but the back of my head hurts. Whatever hit me dealt a huge blow." Hearing that made Papa curious as he asked, "Wait. Someone hit you in the back of the head last night, Aria"? Aria nodded, saying, "I don't know what happened, but what I do know was that I was about to get into bed when I felt something really hard hit me in the back of the head, knocking me down. Then, the last thing I remember was feeling something prick my leg and get inserted inside me. After that, I was unable to get up, and I blacked out. The next thing I know, I wake up in Smurfstorm's arms in absolute agony." Dabbler then came towards Papa smurf while holding a piece of paper, saying, "Papa smurf, the results of Aria's blood test have come in. Apparently, whoever attacked her had also administered some form of a potion that acted as a tranquilizer, which must've been responsible for her being unable to move and blacking out." Smurfstorm, taking this into thought, spoke up, saying, "But that's impossible. Not even the royal alchemists can make a potion that strong to act as a train quick- I mean, whatever you said, Dabbler."
Papa was also taking this into thought as he mentioned, "Smurfstorm makes a valid point. Only someone of superior knowledge of potions must be responsible for this." Smurftorm then began to make a fist as she asked, "Is it that old fleabag Gargamel? Because if so, I'll personally make him pay." Aria whimpered at the sight of Smurfstorm getting really upset, and one look at her shaken state was enough to make Smurfstorm calm down and apologize. Not wanting Aria to become mentally shaken, he advised Papa and Smurfstorm to continue their talk outside and promised to watch over Aria tonight. Papa agreed to it, and right before Aria laid back to try and get some sleep, she said goodnight to Smurfstorm, who said goodnight right back before leaving. Outside, Papa continued from where he left off, saying, "I don't think Gargamel is responsible for this. While he does have his residing hatred against smurfs and is a powerful wizard, I know Gargamel would not be able to make a potion like this. Besides, he has yet to find our village, so whoever had attacked Aria must be someone from here." Smurfstorm thought about it for a minute before saying, "But...no one here would want to attack Aria. We all love her. Even that grouchy one, and he hates everything! Besides, I guess the real question is who would have something against Aria? If we can figure that out, then we can have a prime suspect to look back on."
Suddenly, Nosey came up to them, but before he could ask anything, smurfstorm shouted in anger, "Before you ask what's going on, it's none of your business, Nosey! Get it,"? However, she was about to eat her words as she said, "I heard about what had happened, and first off, I'm truly sorry and hope she gets well. Second, I come not wanting to find out who did it, but wanting to help you. What if I told you that I have an idea on who could be your sister's attacker"? Papa, a little surprised, but happy nonetheless, as he said, "If you know anything, nosey, we can surely use it. It can help us narrow down our prime suspect." Smurfstorm crossed her arms and looked at Nosey suspiciously but figured that if he at least knew something that could help, it couldn't hurt to ask. So, she sighed and said, "Fine, Nosey, tell us what you know. But don't try any funny business, you hear me"? Nosey nodded and said, "I couldn't help but notice that ever since Aria told us that she liked girls, Brainy has been looking at her disapprovingly. Almost as if...he hates her." Papa gasped from hearing this, but then started to put the puzzle pieces together as he said, "you know, Brainy has been acting strange recently. The other day, he asked me if alchemists could create a stability neutralizing potion, but I told him it was near impossible unless you were brilliant. But I know Brainy well, and he's not the kind of smurf to do something like this." Smurfstorm added, 'Papa's right. While his behavior has been suspicious, he's not someone who would do something like this...at least...I don't think so." Suddenly, Police Smurf came towards Papa, saying, "Papa Smurf! I've been inspecting the crime scene of the recent attack, and so far, I found a piece of evidence that can link towards our suspect. But, I don't think you'll be happy to know about what I found." When Papa replied, "Whatever you found can help us Police smurf, whether I like it or not. Now, show us what you found." What Police Smurf pulled from behind his back made Papa smurf's jaw drop, and Smurfstorm stumble back and gasp in shock and utter disbelief. It was a broken pair of glasses, with the lens shattered and the legs bent in a zigzag pattern. And not just any glasses, Brainy's glasses.
