The exceeds of fairy tail minus Panther lily and secretly Happy just learned why they were sent to earthland.
Of them, all Carla was, without a doubt, the most blown away at this information.
The whole time Panther lily just stayed silent while Happy was doing his best to fake it.
Needless to say, they were tears flowing down nearly all the exceeds furry cheeks.
"But what about Extalia's fall?" a random exceed asked.
"Well, I don't know about the others, but I have reason to believe it's when we leave for earthland," Panther lily answered.
"Mind going into detail?" Shagotte asked.
"What many of you fail to realize the only way back to Earthland is through an anima. Presumably, one that will suck away all magical energy in Edolas," he said firmly.
"And how would that happen?" Carla demanded
"This was the plan me Mystoagan, and of course Natsu had from the beginning." he made sure not to imply Happy was in on it too.
"So that is the fate of this world," Shagotte said with shame.
"As hard as it sounds, Edolas would be better off without it. Look what the king of Edolas had done to his kingdom and pardon me shagotte you not innocent either."
"You're right, Panther Lily."
"So we just stay here and wait for our dragon slayers to finish off the king and his armies," Lector threw in.
"Yes, since the king is crazy about the limited magic energy. I wouldn't put it past him to do to us what he did to earthland magnolia." he pointed to the giant Lacrima off in the distance.
"He's right; it's best we stay here on Extalia till we can go to our new home!" all eyes landed on the queen before the grin graced their faces.
"COME ON NATSU, WE CAN'T WAIT ALL DAY!" Happy declares, getting chuckles all around.
With Ultear
Ultear aiding her counterpart, met up with Erza and her counterpart.
"I see you didn't fare much better, Leviathan," she said weakly, hanging off Erza's shoulder.
"Been busy chatting with her"
"So, what do we do now?" Erza asked.
"We wait for the others and hope Jellal reverses the anima soon," Ultear informed.
They found a spot on the balcony facing the city, intending to rest up out of sight from everyone.
They rested against a wall; they gazed up at the setting sun with the many moons and other planets overhead rising up.
"I Have to admit, Knightwalker, your night skies are a lot better than ours."
"That makes two of us, Erza," their counterpart chuckled at this.
"What's your night sky like?"
"All you see are distant stars with a single moon overhead. It's nice on Moonlit nights. But it doesn't compare to the display we have here." Just as Erza said those words, a loud boom could be heard.
"What was that?"
"That would be my husband, Leviathan. I recognized that recklessness anywhere," they chuckled in response.
With Natsu
Natsu just took care of Hughes with a single punch to the face.
He has to admit he went a little overboard, sending him through a wall.
But it can't be helped.
Hughes made the mistake of trying to use his little sister Wendy against him.
"You ok, Wendy?" He knees down to make sure she isn't hurt.
"I'm fine, Niichan," she said, getting to her feet, mirroring his grin.
"How are the rest of you?"
"We're good," then they heard a loud bang.
Out from the corner was Erik holding onto the passed out form of Sugarboy.
"His sword was a bit of pain, but nothing I can't handle." he held the handle of his broken sword in his opposite hand.
"So what's next, Niichan" Sting asked
"Well, we need to find the king," he said in a thinking pose.
With Faust
Many of the soldiers standing before him had concerned looks in their eyes.
The king of Edolas had his head held down.
They were unable to discern his facial expression.
Before his heads shot up with a sadistic grin, get the Dorma Anim Ready!"
"But sir, that's forbidden!"
He snapped to the soldier in question, "don't you understand to get everlasting magic energy, we need dragon slayer magic. We have six of them here; with the Dorma Anim, I can capture them."
"I think I do, sir, but it's still forbidden!"
"I'm your king. Get the Dorma Anim ready; that's an order!"
"Right away, sir," he headed off to the forbidden area with the king following behind him.
The dragon slayers are now searching the castle looking for a scent they can follow.
Suddenly the whole castle started shaking uncontrollably.
Natsu bolted down a hall smashing every wall they got in his way.
His fellow slayers were right behind him.
When they reached the outside, they were met with a giant egg floating in the ruined building of a presumed old castle.
"What is that, NiiChan?"
"I don't have a clue, but it can't be good," he said with a concerned look in his eyes.
When they reluctantly approached the egg, it opened up, revealing a giant mechanical dragon.
Faust went on a rant about capturing them to continue his eternal magic power quest with this spell.
"What do we do, Natsu?" Erik asked with a concerned look in his eyes.
"If that thing is anything like a dragon of earthland, then we're the only one who can stop it," He said with conviction.
A proud smirk took over the faces as Natsu led the charge.
Natsu did something none of them saw coming.
"I'm good. You guys should be able to handle this one," he said casually.
All the dragon slayer and Faust floored themselves at this.
"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND, NATSU!" Erik shouted.
"If I did all the heavy lifting, there would be nothing left for you all. This is your shot to see how far you all have come. Don't worry if it gets a little Dicey, I'll step in!" Natsu declared.
True to the dragon slayer name, they shared a crazed grin at this opportunity.
Natsu took a few steps back to watch the show.
Going into action Wendy cast her enchantments to boost the physical prowess.
Sting and Rogue, like always, bolted toward the dragon before going on the opposite side.
Faust having a hard time deciding, he picked Rogue as his first victim.
He strikes at him only to hit the dirt as shadow crawls out of the creator just as he pulls out his arm.
He was not double but triple-teamed by the remaining slayers.
They all released their roars at once.
Faust started attacking them at random, never getting a direct hit.
He didn't pay much attention to their attack, confident his dragon would be immune.
Then the unexpected happened, the dragon knight was taking damage.
Preying at this opportunity, Sting and Rogue with Erik and Gajeel all took turns nailing the knight with each attack.
And thanks to Wendy with her enchantments, those attacks are amplified.
In a rage, Faust swung the tail around, hoping to knock them back.
What he wasn't expecting for Gajeel to single-handedly hold it off with thanks to his iron scales.
Being poisoned, Erik knew his magic would affect the knight too much.
All he can do is block it visibly.
Sting jumped high in the sky, unleashing holy rays over the battlefield.
Rogue followed up the waxing fang attack, here and there across the mechanical body.
Things were going well for several minutes.
Faust made a mistake thinking he could take on six dragon slayer at once in this thing.
Then his mind hatched an idea he unleashed an attack on Wendy.
Wendy is rightfully so terrified, she didn't have enough time to dodge.
With a smirk, Natsu was able to block the attack easily with his dragon roar.
"See, I told you I'd step in if it got too dicey," he said, standing behind Wendy with a smirk.
His smirk was shared by his fellow slayers.
Then they were all brought out of the fight when a giant white light let up the night sky above the lacrima.
"TOOK YA LONG ENOUGH MYSTOGAN!" Natsu shouts at the top of his lungs.
In the sky, a blue creature was flying overhead.
On top of it is the lost prince of Edolas Jellal.
"Sorry, it took so long, Natsu. I see you're busy. I'll come back later!" He shouts, flying toward the castle.
No doubt to check in with the others.
Using the confusion, Gajeel used his dragon slayer magic to Pierce the knights foot locking him in place.
"He's pinned if you're going to stop him, do it know!"
"Niichan, you mind your the only one with a spell to pierce its scales," Wendy chirp.
"You sure you want me to? I have a feeling you guys can do it!" He said with a smirk.
"If it's going to be that way, Niichan," she cast more enchantments stacked on top of each other on all of them. "make it count. I'm nearly out of magic!"
Sting, Rogue, and Erik, in the combined attack, roared at dragon knight with all their might.
Just before impact Gajeel vacated his spot as the three slayers unleashed their most powerful spells.
Every spell hit its mark as another came behind it.
It wasn't long before the armor started cracking rather than falling apart.
"I suppose I can do the finishing blow," Natsu added as walk forward.
The four slayers got out of his way, not wanting to get caught in the crossfire.
"FIRE DRAGON SWORD HORN!" He charged at the dragon head first, effortlessly tearing straight through.
When Faust crawled out of what was left of the knight, he was met with the site of six dragons sizing him up before passing out.
"You guys did well with minimal input from me!" He chirped.
"We can't take all the credit this little one gave us the edge," Erik ruffles her hair getting blush from the poor girl.
Slinging the king over his shoulder, Natsu charged onward with his fellow slayers in tow.
In no time at all, they caught up to the others.
"So, what did you have planned, Mystogan?" He said with a straight face.
"Magic energy has caused nothing but problems here with its limited supply. I'm going to create an anima absorbing all magical energy sending it to earthland.
"And to unite the citizens of Edolas, we have to give them a show," Natsu added, getting curious looks from everyone.
five minutes later
The citizens of Edolas had looks of fear as all their magic energy was gathered in the sky above.
Only to hear a massive boom as a man with pink hair declares him the demon lord Dragneel.
He spouted out words of how he took all of Edolas magic energy for himself
, only for the lost prince of Edolas to challenge him to fight for his people.
With added help from Gajeel edolas counterpart, the citizens quickly rallied behind prince Jellal.
The fight was vertically identical to the first time they did this.
Of course, they recite rules of leaving a fairy tail.
Just as Natsu was being drawn into the sky, Faust came to, fortunately, give him the same speech.
"Farewell Mystogan, it's been a privilege seeing you again!"
"Likewise, you have no idea how happy I am to work alongside the fairy tail guild again, Natsu!" Natsu couldn't see it; tears were streaming down Mystogan's cheeks.
"All I can say, I hope we can meet again in the next life" he tried his best to keep it from sounding ominous.
Mystogan response was the fairy tail salute.
As Natsu continued to rise up, he reunited with his friends again and, of course, all the exceeds.
Ultear managed to float over to Natsu.
I just in time as the portal between their worlds opened up, pulling them all in.
A large flash of light later, they were back in magnolia once again.
They headed to the guild to fill them in on what happened.
Both Gajeel and Erik let out a sigh of relief at the sight of their unarmed mates.
"So we were all absorbed into another world, and Mystogan is the leader now!" Gildarts stated.
"Basically" was Natsu's response.
Ultear silently withdrew from the group.
She ended up in one of the guild's backroom, placing her hand on the lacrima Ur appeared before her.
"Is something on your mind?"
"I've been going over my counterparts' words, how much of that relates to my father." She said with her hair covering her eye.
Ur knew this would come up after hearing Leviathan's story.
"Ultear your father," she struggled to find the right words, she took a deep inhale then an exhale "was a mercenary before I met him."
"Did his past come back to haunt him?" Ultear's head hung down as she spoke those words.
"Yes," she would have continued but was cut off by her daughter.
"You don't have to continue, mother!"
"If you want to know more, just ask."
"I will, when I'm ready," with those words, Ur returned to the lacrima.
Natsu and Ultear found a booth to themselves away from the noise of the guild.
"I wonder how our counterparts are doing," he said with a grin.
"From my conversation with Leviathan, she clearly has a soft spot for Dragion." Natsu chuckled at this.
"Hopefully, he won't have to deal with Ashley's rough side" Ultear head rested in the crook of his neck, allowing him to inhale her scent.
No matter how much time has passed, her scent was intoxicating to the slayer.
Edolas
It took a couple of days, but the fairy tail guild of Edolas managed to drag their guild hall to the capital.
Just in time, Mystogan took control as Faust's eldest child.
Faust is exiled from the kingdom.
He decided to see what their world has to offer.
Mystogan gazed at the magic warfare leaders plus Coco.
After chatting with them, Coco silently reformed on her own.
Knightwalker and Leviathan did as well after losing to their earthland counterparts.
As a punishment, they were all given the order to help rebuild Edolas.
Sugarboy and Hughes objected, requesting they deserved the death penalty.
Knightwalker and Leviathan are silently content with his decision.
They thanked their time spent with their counterparts.
Without warning, they headed into the city to aid in the cleanup.
Out of sheer coincidence, Leviathan ended up meeting Edolas's fairy tail guild.
No surprise, the first one she notices is Natsu Dragion with his guildmates.
During her time with Edolas's army, she would do recon on them.
First, she always checked was Dragion.
She would never admit it; she always thought he was a tiny bit cute.
Then there his gentle nature, an oasis in a desert of over the top bearly men she sees daily.
As she got closer, she finally noticed his guildmates.
Then something made her blood boil, Lucy Ashley is using one of her many techniques.
She marches up to her, nailing her in the gut, causing her to let go of Dragion.
"You ok, Dragion?" She says, getting him back on his feet.
"Thanks...I'm sorry, who are you!"
"The name Ultear Leviathan. Ultear Dragneels counterpart."
He looks to his guildmate for confirmation, they confirm it.
"Hi Ultear Leviathan," he said in a gentle tone, holding his hand out.
She took a gladly sporting smile mirrored by him.
Ashley had a very subtle angry expression, looking to her guildmates; they were smirking.
They all concluded, based on their earthland counterparts are together; how far fetched would it be Leviathan and Dragion to end up together.
Ashley still maintained her expression.
It was clear to her guildmates she was jealous of Leviathan.
She waited a few hours, waiting for an opportunity to confront her privately.
The chance came up; without warning, she dragged her to a secluded ally.
"I don't know what your game is but keep your hand off Dragion!" Her angry expression was replaced with annoyance.
"Jealous, are we?" She smirked.
It was clear as day to everyone how Dragion was a tiny bit more confident around Leviathan than usual.
She could tell it was driving Ashley crazy, to be expected.
Even though none of them realized it, Natsu and Lucy of the old timeline were relatively close before he was sent back.
Little did they know Knightwalker and Mystogan kept a close eye on Leviathan and Dragion throughout the weeks to come.
Ashley couldn't respond; she just looked away, getting a chuckle from Leviathan.
"Come on, we have a lot of work to do," she said, dragging Ashley with her.
Unlike Ashley, everyone saw the change in Dragion and silently agreed this could be good for him.
Earthland
The following day countless members were going crazy with jobs.
It is clear why the S-class trials are three weeks away; they all wanted to become one.
This concerned Natsu; he had a rough idea of what to do.
The only thing for sure is dealing with Azuma.
This way, the great tree will never get destroyed.
Meaning Ultear doesn't have to be there for them to win.
That's when he noticed Erza sitting at the bar and Gray going over the request board.
This brought a frown to his face; every time he sees them, he's reminded of the Erza and Gray he grew up with.
He misses them. He still has the current Erza and Gray.
But that doesn't ease the pain when he sees them then die at the hand of the dragons.
Ultear snuggles up to him, letting him know she is there for him.
Natsu really wants to, but he's afraid they're happy right now, but he doesn't want to burden them.
Little did he know Osiris watched him like always.
He even felt bad for giving Natsu this burden.
Igneel, along with the other dragons, understood this pain.
Osiris made the decision some time ago if Natsu asked him.
The dragon god would give them their memories back.
It's not too hard; through the ravines of time, he can pluck their memories from the old timeline and transfer them into lacrima.
He did this before with Happy. It was relatively simple. have the person in question crush the lacrima, and all memories will transfer to them.
The ravines' beauty is to act as a catalog to every possible action and consequence if you know where to look.
The genius part is they will have memories of both timelines.
What they make of them is up to them; all he can do now is wait.
"Natsu, whatever you decide, I'll support you," his wife whispered into his ear.
A small smile formed, "thank you, Ultear."
"What are mates for?" she said with a smile.
"I can think of a few," he said with a cheeky grin causing her to blush.
Two days later
Natsu made a decision, give them back their memories.
Thanks to his contract with Loki, it was effortless to get them.
On that note regarding Loki, it's recommended he keep him through the seven years.
He wanted to give him to Lucy, but sending him to help out against Grimoire's heart is acceptable to him.
Gray should be back in a few hours.
Natsu asked Erza to bring him to his house when he gets back.
Later the day
Both Gray and Erza stood before Natsu with Happy on his shoulder in the main room of the dragon's den
, a look outside, revealing the sun touching the horizon.
Ultear was on the second level waiting; it was clear this is deeply personal for Natsu and his two friends.
In his right hand, he holds out red lacrima the size of a golf ball.
In his left sets, blue lacrima of the same size.
"Erza, before we continue, I need both you to crush your lacrima, the red one for Erza, the blue for gray."
They were confused but complied with his request.
They crush their respective lacrima only for strange magic to bust fourth entering through their eyes.
They both collapsed to their knees before passing out.
This hurts Natsu; they have to suffer this way, but it has to be done.
Their mind needs time to process the memories.
With Ultear's assistance, they set them on the bed of a pull-out couch.
The following morning they woke to find themself in the Living room with Natsu standing across from them.
Ultear stayed on the second floor to not get in the way.
She didn't mind doing this; she has done this several times in the past.
Natsu gave her some privacy out of respect.
"What happened, Natsu? The last thing I remember we were fighting dragons, then I woke up in the dragon's den," Gray said, then the realization hit him they both happened.
He remembers now, casting iced shell, freeing Natsu from the owl guy, creating ice dragon Chain cannon key all facing off against Grimoire Heart.
Erza did the same thing, having Natsu help with Moon drip, asking him to stop Gajeel.
Then fighting for Jellal freedom after nirvana, and finally facing off against Hades with fire and lightning magic.
That's when she also remembers being scared of Natsu. The wedding, saving her childhood friends.
They face Natsu, who is sitting down with a small smile.
He is unable to look them in the eye.
"Natsu cared to explain what we're remembering-" she couldn't find the words.
"When the dragon attacked Crocus, everyone died. I was the last one alive. The dragon god Osiris sent me back in time with my mate Ultear. I gave you back your memories of that timeline because...I miss the Erza and Gray I grew up with!" He said with a gentle tone.
After another hour, the two finished processing what just happened.
They walk up to Natsu; he's prepared for their wrath.
What he wasn't expecting was them bringing him into a group hug.
Gray opened up a spot for Ultear to join, she accepted.
When they separated, Natsu smiled morphed into a firm expression.
"You have memories of both timeline now. What you do with this known is up to you. I'm just happy I have the two of you back" a few tears stream down the dragon slayers cheeks.
"Aye, Sir," Happy added.
"Gotta admit this will take some getting used to," Gray said, pointing at both Natsu and Ultear.
The husband and wife chuckled at this.
Erza spoke next, "Natsu, what about the S-class trials coming up?"
the gravity of her words sunk in shortly after.
"This is a massive secret. You can't tell anyone without my permission,"
Natsu's eyes hardened, going back and forth between the two.
"What is it?" Erza said with a concerned tone.
"Zeref is my older brother. His name is Zeref Dragneel!"
They were about to call him out for his lie but were stopped when the respective gods chimed in, confirming his words.
"I'm actually a half-demon. I'm Zeref's most powerful demon, Etherious Natsu Dragon, or E.N.D!"
"I take it you're the one demon my magic can't slayer?" Gray said with his head held down.
He didn't respond.
In fact, an awkward silence filled the room for who knows how long.
"I'm glad you told us the truth, Natsu!" Erza informed with an approval look in her eyes.
Gray stayed silent for an extra minute before lifting his head.
"Just hope you are strong enough to stay on our side," he said, looking away.
Everyone chuckled at this "thanks, Gray, that means a lot. Also, I should have to say this but keep your traps shut about me being from the future, ok!"
"Do you even need to ask" was Gray's reply getting a nod from Erza.
"One more thing I need to mention. Ultear and I won't be frozen for seven years. As strong as I am now, I don't have the power to stop Acnologia. Another reason I gave you your memory back is to give you the edge needed to come out on top without me."
This causes a prolonged silence to fill the air.
"I'll be there to keep Azuma from Destroying the tree since Ultear won't be there to repair it."
"If it means keeping Fairy tail from going down the drain during the seven years, I'm fine with that," Gray said as tears streamed down his cheeks.
He wasn't alone; everyone present shared his sentiment.
"Natsu, who else knows of this new timeline?" Erza wanted to know
"As far as memories, Me, Ultear, Happy and you two not including mystogan. Gramps knows I'm a demon, and I'm from the future, but that's all he wanted to know."
"Don't for Porlyusica," Ultear added. Natsu filled them in on the dragon and where they've been.
"Why is it just us who got their memories back? I'm glad you gave us our, but why not others?"
"For many, they're happier and stronger than before. There are some things better left unsaid."
