Hello readers! I hope you are doing okay, hanging in this crazy time. 2020 has been shitty right? I'm so sorry for disappearing on you but life happens. I have been wanting to write stories again, just to get away from reality as everybody does. So...bear with me as I get back into the writing world again slowly. It's like learning how to ride a bike all over again lol. So...please leave a review, I would love to hear from y'all. Please stay safe and make good choices as Bailey Sarian would say. :)

At THE BAYOU

Elijah is laying on a bed in Dwayne's old shack, tossing and turning restlessly while Kayla stands at his bedside and tries to feed him some water.

"Here, drink this," Kayla whispers to him.

Elijah drinks from the cup she offers, but he immediately starts to gag and cough. He's pale and sweaty and clearly miserable.

"Forgive me. Please." Elijah says, falling back on his pillow.

Kayla took the cup back and set it on the tableside. "It's okay. Just remind me to annihilate your brother once you're healthy."

He chuckles bitterly. "Yes, remind me to remind you to get in line."

Kayla lets out a sigh. "It doesn't help that we decided to shack up in a swamp either. I wish we were at my house so I can use the herbs from the garden to help your fever."

When Kayla saw that he went to sleep, she stood up and walked out onto the porch, leaving the door open to let the breeze into the shack since the room was stuffy with heat. She started to wonder if there were actually herbs around here that she could find to help him.

When Elijah starts to cough, she immediately rushes back. "Are you okay?"

Elijah could see the herbs in her hands. "I'm fine. Please, just…. return to your hunting."

"It's fine, I think I found some that I can use for your fever. I just need to boil the water and give it to you."

Kayla busies herself with the water and the herbs. "Kayla, please. This fever will make me unstable. And once the hallucinations begin, I'll start to see things. You must leave me here."

Kayla pauses and walks over to him, putting the wet towel on his forehead. "I'm not leaving you like this. You...helped me once. It's my turn now. Shhh… just go to sleep. I'll take care of you."

Unbeknownst to either of them, the werewolf Eve is lurking around outside the shack.

Kayla's POV

Hours later…

I was outside of the shack near the lake, staring at the sunset when I heard Elijah groaning in pain inside and I immediately returned to his bedside. He was paler and more sweaty. I sat down on the bed next to him and put my hand on his forehead to gauge his temperature.

When I touched him, I was transported into Elijah's memory from the 1800s.

Elijah's Memory- 1821

A woman, Celeste, is relaxing in a bathtub when Elijah enters the room.

PRESENT DAY

Elijah gasps out, "Celeste?"

I jump back, staring at him in concern. He realizes that he was hallucinating. "Kayla, I'm sorry. I thought you were someone else."

I let out a shudder in shock. "Celeste. Whoever she was, she was smokin' hot."

He becomes concerned and embarrassed. "Did I let you enter my thoughts? I'm not well. I should go. This is…"

He started to sit up but I immediately pushed him down gently, avoiding his skin, "No, no. This is fine, Elijah. You're sick, I'm taking care of you."

Elijah stopped and looked out of the window. He could sense something. "We're being watched."

I rush outside to find a woman standing several yards away. When she saw me, she ran in the opposite direction away from me.

"Hey. Hey!" I ran down the stairs but it was too late. She was already gone. Who the hell was she?

I let out a frustrating groan and walked back inside. "Who was it?" He asks, letting out a groan from the pain.

I twisted the wet towel and put it on his forehead. "I don't know. Shh, go back to sleep. Your fever is getting worse and the herbs I gave you isn't helping. Just rest. Don't get agitated, okay? It's okay," I caress his cheek as he closes his eyes.

I let out a sigh and sat down on the bed. I look at my hands, realizing that I could see someone's memories when they are vulnerable. It scared me because that meant my powers were growing stronger.

Elijah let out a whimper. I move up on the bed and put his head in my lap as he continues writhing restlessly. I decided not to be afraid to touch him so I removed the wet cloth and laid my hand on his forehead, being transported back to the 1800s once again. I needed to know. I have to know.

Elijah's Memory-1812

It is the same scene as before: Celeste is relaxing in a large bathtub in the middle of a bathroom when Elijah, in 19th-century finery, enters the room. Celeste playfully throws her sponge at him, but he catches it deftly, and she giggles at him.

"Assister-moi, please, good sir."

"No, I'm much happier taking in such a wondrous view. It's perfection," He says, admiring her body.

She lets out an annoyed sigh, "Your brother is again up to no good. He's challenging the gentry to duels as though they have any chance of a fair fight."

"I do grow weary of sacrificing my joy to temper my brother's mischief. Surely, you can cast a spell to put him in his place."

Omg, she is a witch?

Celeste shook her head gently. "It would take a hundred witches to put him in his place. Besides, he only ever listens to you."

Elijah lets out a soft chuckle. "Yes. He certainly needs a little discipline. Spanking of some kind is in order. I think I shall need some rehearsal. Come," Elijah leans down and kisses her passionately.

Present Day

I let out a soft gasp as he shivers and groans in pain. "Kayla, please. This fever. My mind is flooded with these torturous memories. You have to leave."

I caress his hair as he stares at me. "What is your deal? You don't like people taking care of you?"

"There are consequences for those that care. I will not have you pay that price."

I frown at him. "So, you're having weird, retro sex dreams? Get over it, I'm staying."

Elijah lets out a soft sigh. "What about our visitor? What does she want?"

I move away, putting his head back on the pillow from my lap, and stood up. I walk around, grabbing the bedpost.

"I'm guessing she's the one that left the mystery Bible on the doorstep for Hayley last night. Would be nice if she'd stick around long enough to tell me why."

"Kayla, you're not here to play a nursemaid to a vampire with a temperature. Please, find her. Learn what you can."

"No, Elijah. I'm staying," I cross my arms.

He lets out a sigh then moans as he falls back to sleep.

I walked back out to the porch, searching the forest to see if she came back. No sign of her.

The sun is down and I let out a yawn, realizing that I haven't slept at all since I was kidnapped.

I walked back inside and sat down in a chair that was nearby. I stared at Elijah until I felt my eyes getting heavy. So I let myself relax and closed my eyes for a bit.

I'm in the forest. I turned around to see where I was. I couldn't but I knew I was in a forest. I hear a twig snap and I turn around quickly to see who it was. No one was there.

"Hello?"

I continue to look around. "Where am I?"

I could hear heavy breathing. "Where are you? This isn't funny."

I turn around again. Suddenly, I felt my hair rising on the back of my neck and realized that someone was standing behind me.

I let out a whimper and closed my eyes. "Wake up. Wake up. This is a dream," I whisper to myself. I opened my eyes and could still feel the person behind me.

I slowly turn around and let out a horrified gasp. It was Dwayne.

I back away quickly, "No, please. Please!" I let out a sob as he followed me until I hit a tree behind me.

I let out a shudder as Dwayne stared at me coldly. "You killed me, Kayla."

I shook my head, "No...no...no. I'm so sorry. I had no idea that Tyler was going to do it. Please don't!" I screamed out as he grabbed my neck and bit into my neck.

I let out a loud gasp as I woke up, breathing heavily. I touched my neck quickly to see if I could feel his bite and it wasn't there. It was just a dream. I could feel myself shaking and also sweating from the nightmare that I just had.

I stood up after checking on Elijah and went to the bathroom. I turn on the water and splash the water on my face.

I lean against the sink. "It's okay, Kayla. It's okay…" I whisper to myself, closing my eyes.

Omnificent's POV

Elijah is panting loudly. "Celeste. Forgive me. I'm sorry."

Kayla overhears this and walks out of the bathroom to see Elijah in distress. She puts her hand on his forehead and realizes that his fever is out of control. "Oh my god, Elijah."

She immediately puts the new towel into the water nearby and puts it on his forehead. "Stay with me, Elijah."

Elijah's Memory

Klaus and another man are standing back to back with revolvers in their hands as they prepare for a duel. Klaus gives unintelligible orders in French, and they walk away from each other as Klaus counts them down.

"Huit, sept, six, cinq, quatre, trois, deux."

They each turn around and shoot. Klaus remains unharmed, while the man falls and dies from a headshot.

Klaus was unimpressed. "Is that it? Is this the best New Orleans has to offer?"

Another man drags the duelist's corpse over to a pile of bodies several feet away. Elijah arrives on the field, looking furious.

"Brother! Please, this is high folly. Is it not enough you have slaughtered dozens in just these past several weeks? Word of a city littered with bodies will surely travel the oceans. Do you want to bring our father to us?"

Klaus lets out a chuckle, "Relax, brother. I've sent rumors that the bodies are the result of the witches seeking blood sacrifice for their rituals."

"You did what? Have you forgotten? Celeste is one of those that you recklessly point your finger at?"

Klaus feigns ignorance. "Who's Celeste? Wait…" Elijah glares at him angrily. "Oh, yes! The witch you've been knocking around with. Well, fear not. Harlots are like rats in the Quarter. You trip over one every step you take."

Elijah snatches a revolver from a nearby man and shoots Klaus in the chest with it. He looks down at his bullet wound in annoyance and sighs. "You care about her. Well, that is unfortunate. I hear they're rounding up the town witches as we speak."

PRESENT DAY

Elijah awakens with a start and screams. Kayla jumps back, looking at him with a worried expression.

"Elijah?"

Elijah begins hallucinating that she's Klaus and grabs her in a choke-hold and pins her against the wall.

"Niklaus! I'll kill you, you bastard."

Kayla becomes terrified, "Elijah!"

So what do you think so far? I'm a bit rusty but I just need to back into it and also maybe if watching the show would help me out too. So for the schedule, I can't guarantee that I am going to upload every week since I work full time and also I work some weekends too since we are short-staffed. Anyway, part two will be coming soon. Thank you again for the new readers, for my old readers who have stuck with me for a long time, and for being so patient with me as life goes on with its moments.
