BIO
DJ Phantasmagloria is merely the stage name for Gloria Glamour, a popular DJ from the 80's who single-handedly prevented disco from dying. She's as upbeat and energetic as her rocking jams, and she never fails to get the party started. Good luck ever seeing her asleep – she clearly doesn't need it, at least during party time. She tends to crash for a few days after partying. In fact, good luck seeing her express any other emotion beyond 'endless upbeat happiness'.
Apparently, she was rocking out to catchy songs even as a baby, which her parents found to be both very adorable and just a little strange. Her first words were even 'Let's Boogie!', much to her parents' surprise. They couldn't be impressed by her dance moves, however, as they were far too concerned over her lack of hair growth. As it turned out, Gloria was born with a condition that prevented any kind of body hair growth and limited her head hair growth significantly. While no one really cares that she is almost bald, she is very insecure over her lack of hair. This leads to her buying massive afro wigs to cover this up, keeping many spares locked away in case she loses one.
As Gloria soon found out, just like disco itself, she couldn't live to see the end of the decade. She was sent to hospital for an illness that she picked up with her, um, bed-hopping habits. It killed her immune system, and soon the rest of her body too. Between her diagnosis and her death, no one wanted to go near her, thanks to the sheer fear and panic that was surrounding her illness at the time. So, she died with no one else in the room except her grief-stricken parents, who were the only people she cared about anyway.
When her spirit left her body, she assumed that she was let out and returned to her now abandoned disco hall. She could barely comprehend the fact that she had died, and was lost and confused in the world. Fortunately for her, Amadeus Wolfgeist discovered her not long after her death. With three centuries of ghosting experience under his belt, he promised her that he would guide her through the afterlife and help her transition.
Her mind is still stuck in the 80's, leading her to speak in slang that is often borderline incomprehensible. Due to being the youngest spirit-wise, she still hasn't quite gotten used to the fact that she is a ghost. Being Gloria Glamour, she doesn't let that get in the way of her disco fun. On the contrary, she uses her now immortal soul to dance for as long as she pleases.
EXTRA NOTES
-She has a crush on Johnny, despite knowing he is gay and taken. After all, you can't really help crushes. Yet, she refuses to let that stop her from being friends with him.
-She and Amadeus are playful rivals to each other, but usually play music together.
-Her longest streak of 'non-stop partying with no sleep' lasted about fourteen days and sixteen hours. She promptly slept like a log for a week.
-While she is not actually Amadeus's biological daughter for obvious reasons, she is indeed one of his many descendants. Her line, unsurprisingly, comes from Amadeus's one surviving son.
BEHIND THE SCENES
The result of me playing the phrase 'disco is dead' for drama. Her overuse of outdated or just plain obnoxious slang is meant to reflect the fact that she is very behind with the times, as well as parodying the overuse of slang to begin with. It'd be like if a teenager for some reason thought their parent's obvious attempts at seeming 'hip with da youth' was actually cool and did the same thing.
The game plays Gloria's afro wigs for comedy, which is all fine and good, but it simply wouldn't do for my story. So, her short hair cannot actually grow any longer than it is and she buys the wigs to cover up her insecurities.
I made the connection between her likely date of death (the 80's) and, well, the 'mysterious illness' that did her in by 'killing her immune system' and had 'fear and panic surrounding it' is exactly the illness you think it is.
