When Mac opened his eyes again, he was sitting in Doctor Mitchum's office. "How do you feel?" Dr. Mitchum asked.

Mac scowled. "Where am I?" he asked. "What happened?"

"You're deprogrammed and back to yourself."

Mac looked at the doctor a moment. "You mean you…"

"Yes. You've been asleep for quite a while."

Suddenly, Mac sat straight up. "Where's Jo?" he asked.

"She's waiting in the waiting room."

"I need to see her."

"I'll go get her."

Doctor Mitchum went to the waiting room where Jo was pacing around, along with Sheldon. "He's asking for you," Doctor Mitchum said.

Jo followed him to the room where Mac was. The doctor left them alone. Mac was standing up. He stared at Jo a moment. "I'm so sorry," Mac said.

Jo walked over to him and hugged him. "I'm just glad you're back to yourself," she said. "I missed my friend."

Mac hugged her warmly. "I would never…"

"I know."

They looked at each other a moment. "It's okay," Jo said. "I know you were not yourself, but you are now, so I want to catch these women who put us through all this and almost took my friend away from me."

Mac frowned. "Me too," he said.

Jo offered her hand and Mac grabbed it. "We're going to catch them," she declared.

"We will," Mac agreed.

When Doctor Mitchum was done with Mac, he, Sheldon and Jo went back to the lab. Danny and Lindsey were there, along with Adam and Don. They were all glad Mac was back. "I'm sorry for my actions the last few days," Mac said.

They all assured him that it was no problem. "I do have a lead as to where these women are," Don said.

"Where?" Mac asked, sounding much like the regular old Mac Taylor.

"I had these faces on every line I could get them on and someone called and said they are their neighbors."

Mac scowled. "Neighbors?"

"Yes, they live in this house out there."

"Then let's go get them. I have a lot of unanswered questions for them."

Just then, Adam came from the computer lab. "Boss," he said. "The address that these two women are living at belonged to their grandmother years ago. She was living in that house when she died and another thing…" Adam paused, not knowing whether he actually wanted to tell Mac the next fact.

Mac scowled at him. "Yes?" he said.

"She was accused of being a witch," Adam said and gave Mac the computer screen.

Mac looked at it. "I'm not surprised," he said. "I don't think this case could get any weirder."

"I'm ready to put a stop to all this and get back to normal," Jo remarked.

"Me too."

Mac, Jo, Don and Danny went to the elevator leaving Lindsey, Sheldon and Adam at the lab. It was getting close to daylight, so they wanted to hurry and get to the house before they would draw too much attention. They parked down the street from the house with no sirens or lights. "Let's be careful," Mac said. "We don't really know what to expect from these women."

"You can say that again," Jo replied as she was putting on her bulletproof vest.

"I don't have time."

Mac and Jo looked at each other and smiled. "I'm glad you're back," Jo said.

"I'm glad to be back," Mac replied. He got his weapon ready and looked at the others, serious again. "Let's go."

Mac and Jo moved up to the front door of the house and Don and Danny went around to the back, along with three other officers. Mac knocked on the front door. "N.Y.P.D.! Open up!" he yelled. He waited a moment and then nodded to the other two officers to knock the door open with the battering ram.

When the door was open, Mac and Jo moved in as Don and Danny were coming in the back. Mac and Jo took the upper floor. Jo went one way and Mac went the other searching each room. Mac came to the last room on the hall and noticed a flickering light under the door. He looked toward the way Jo had gone but he could not see her from there and he did not want to call for her. He moved up to one side of the door and tested the knob. It was not locked which he thought was a little strange. He wondered what they would find this time.

Mac turned the knob slowly and pushed the door open. He looked in the door with his gun aimed inside. He just stared at the scene for a moment. Victoria was in the room along with Cecilia. They were just sitting at a table as though nothing was wrong with candles lit all around the room. They looked at Mac. "Come in, Mac Taylor," Victoria said.

"Put your hands up," Mac said. "You're both under arrest."

"Oh, come now. You don't want to arrest us, do you?"

"I said put your hands up."

Victoria and Cecilia looked at each other and then raised their hands. "We surrender," Victoria said sweetly.

Mac frowned. He wondered what they had planned. "Come on out of there," he said.

"You're no afraid of two little women, are you?" Cecilia asked.

"Stand up and come out of there."

Victoria and Cecilia stood up and suddenly, Cecilia had a gun. She brought it up at Mac but he shot first. Victoria looked in horror as a big red stain spread across Cecilia's dress. Victoria glared at Mac. "You didn't have to kill her!" she said.

Mac aimed at Victoria. "You better come out of that room," he warned.

"What are you going to do? Kill me too so I can't tell my story?"

Mac glared at her. "Come out of that room," he said.

Victoria moved toward the door just as Jo came up beside Mac. Don and Danny were coming up the stairs. Victoria finally came out of the room. Don put handcuffs on her while she glared at Mac. "Your little plan didn't work," Mac said. "Now, you have two dead sisters. One problem I have…why did you kill Doris?"

The smile left Victoria's face. "We didn't," she said. "Why would we kill our own sister?"

"Why would you do all this to me?"

"We just wanted to humiliate you like you humiliated our mother."

"Your mother humiliated herself. She was a thief and a murderer. I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree."

Victoria stared at Mac. "Are you going to find out who killed my sister?" she asked.

"I'm not sure you didn't do that yet," Mac declared and walked away from her.

When the crime scene was done, they went back to the lab. Mac interrogated Victoria until he was tired. "We're not getting anywhere playing this game," he said.

"I told you we did not kill Doris!" Victoria said.

"You must know who did."

"I don't have any idea. Why don't you use your detective brain to figure it out?"

Mac stared at her a moment. He was starting to believe her but he was still not sure that she and Cecilia did not do it to throw them off the trail. He sighed. "Cecilia did it, didn't she?" he asked.

"Why would she?" Victoria asked.

"Cause I think Doris was going to tell what the two of you were up to and Cecilia killed her."

Victoria frowned. "What if you're right?" she asked. "Cecilia's dead now."

"Yes, but you're not and you're going to pay for everything you've done."

"What have I done?"

"Let's not go into that."

"Why not? Are you afraid your friends out there will hear?"

"They already know. You staged a crime scene and withheld information about your sister's death…not to mention what you did to me. I'm sure you're going away for a long time."

Mac stood up and walked to the door of the interrogation room. "Oh, yeah," he said as he turned back to Victoria. "Happy Halloween." He went on out the door with a smug smile on his face.

"That was pretty good," Don remarked.

"Hey, today is Halloween."

"Yeah. I think that's why they chose last night for you to 'choose'."

"Probably."

Mac went back up to the lab and wrote out a report about everything. He was glad this case was over. Jo came into his office as he was putting the folder away. "So, how about we go and get one of those hamburgers so I can actually enjoy it?" Mac asked.

Jo smiled. "You're on," she said.

Mac got his coat and they headed for the elevator. "I'll try not to stare at your neck like I'm hungry this time," Mac said. "Or fall into any trances."

Jo laughed. "You looked pretty handsome like that," she said.

"Really?"

"Absolutely, but if you look at me like that again, I'll punch you."

They both laughed as they walked into the elevator…both glad that everything turned out okay…
