I loved writing this chapter... Daddy Adrien is just so cute and I hope I can write more moments like that but you all know what is coming and with it answers. But until then, enjoy some more sweet Hugo and Adrien moments before all hell breaks loose.

Chapter Twelve

Like Father Like Son

"Dad, I really don't know about this," Hugo said, still trying to convince himself that all his father had just told him was true. It couldn't be…, right? His dad does sudokus and reads the newspaper. He taught sixth-grade science and liked chess. His dad was the exact opposite of a superhero. And his mom sewed clothes. She crocheted and knitted while forcing her sister to watch bad romance movies with her. Both were not necessarily the description of a superhero, so they couldn't be Paris's famed superheroes Ladybug and Chat Noir, right?

"It should work Hue," Adrien said, flipping through the folder. He knew Marinette would object to this plan but it was their best option. Hugo, the reason all of this was happening, was the key to developing his care.

"Should," Hugo pointed out, spinning in the chair positioned before his dad's work desk. He sadly had his dad as a teacher for sixth grade and out of pure terror of failing managed to get straight A's. Maybe he should want his dad as a teacher since he was definitely not passing science with Mrs. Bianche.

Adrien peered his glistening green eyes up, looking at his son through his glasses. He'd never liked the fact he needed glasses whenever reading anything but over nearly a decade he'd grown used to them, though his 12-year-old daughter pulled them off much more than he did."Stop spinning your not 5,"

Hugo frowned, feet landing on the ground."You wouldn't be telling Em to stop," he mumbled. It wasn't a mystery who the favorite child was - in his dad's eyes at least. Who his mom's favorite was he couldn't tell you but Emma was 100% his dad's favorite.

Adrien ignored this, continuing to work his way through the newspaper articles he'd been collecting."Okay, we'll need the code-"

"What code?" he asked, looking over the manilla folder Adrien had been storing all evidence in.

Crap, he thought not having meant to say that aloud. Not that saying that was a problem. Hugo already knew too much for his liking but for his relatively simple plan to work he needed to know."The code for the miracle box,"

Hugo's bright green eyes widened, staring at his dad."Wait, so this miracle box, it has all the miraculous?" Adrien nodded causing his reading glasses to fall down his nose."And these miraculous let you and mom turn into Ladybug and Chat Noir?"

"Right," Adrien said oblivious to how freaked out his son was.

"You can't actually be serious," Hugo said even if it was clear his dad was. Actually, he hadn't seen his dad more serious about something in awhile. When it came to him, he only looked serious when they spoke of his grades and studying."Like my mom and dad can't actually be Ladybug and Chat Noir. You teach sixth-grade science!"

Adrien chuckled, nodding his head as he leaned back into his chair."What can I say, parenthood changes you," That was true. As a 17-year-old finding out his friend(not even girlfriend yet) was pregnant with his child, he expected his life to change but not his personality. Well, he sure had. From the moment he'd first held his son he was different and as Hugo grew up and Emma and Louis were added to the family he only continued to grow, in some good ways but some bad.

Hugo nodded trying to comprehend what he'd just been casually told."So you and mom, did you guys meet as Ladybug and Chat Noir or as your civilian selves?"

"Both," Adrien said, his son wearing a confused look. Well, he better explain this all before explaining his plan."To put it simply, I didn't have a crush on your mom, Marinette. I had a crush on Ladybug. And your mom had a crush on me, Adrien but not Chat Noir. Make sense?"

"You lost me," Hugo said, attempting to understand this confusing reality his parents lived through.

Adrien laughed,d unsure how exactly he should go about explaining it."Let's see... to put it simply I liked Ladybug your mom liked Adrien. I didn't like Marinette and Marinette didn't like Chat Noir." Coming out of his mouth it still sounded confusing and certainly put it into perspective how crazy high school had been. For one he'd started going to school. He'd made more friends than he ever could've imagined. He became a superhero. He fell for Ladybug and friend-zoned Marinette. He got her pregnant. They dated, got married, had a baby, moved out, and that was all before he graduated.

"Makes more sense," Hugo said, face falling pale as another question hit him."You said you and mom were dating when I was... you know," Adrien nodded, not sure where this was going."Was that true or not?"

"Oh," Adrien said, trying to hide the redness that bloomed on his cheeks."It uhh," He couldn't lie to his son. Though this wasn't a conversation a 16-year-old wanted to have with his dad, it was better than lying."We weren't dating. We started after we found out your mom was pregnant,"

That definitely wasn't what he'd thought he'd hear."So if you weren't dating then as which did you two..." the boy cut his own words off, embarrassed by what he was asking," make me?"

Now his face was bright red as he tried to fight the memories of that night, still deeply embedded in his mind." Oh um, Chat Noir and Marinette," he said awkwardly looking down at the folder.

"What?" Hugo asked now confused on everything about these identity things."But you and mom didn't like one another as-"

"Yes it's confusing I know but you can talk to your mom about this later," he said, not in the mood to discuss his highschool romances with his son. But that brought something else to his attention. He'd have to find a way to tell Marinette. And he was sure she would be furious he didn't consult her before telling their son such an important part of their lives. But Marinette would have to wait because he and Hugo had work to do."Now the plan,"

"Ya what is this miraculous plan you have," he said, laughing quietly at the joke he'd accidentally snuck in.

Though he tried to Adrien also laughed, smiling in his son's direction."Good pun,"

"Guess I got it from you," Hugo said. A warm fuzzy feeling filled him at the idea he and his dad had something in common. It wasn't anywhere near Emma and Adrien's bond over chess and history but it was something.

"Ya," he laughed trying to force himself back into a serious state of mind."Now for the plan, I'll tell you that your mom isn't going to like it,"

"Noted but you'll be blamed right?" he asked. His mom had already been upset with him for showing Louis The Ring and he didn't need her to be any more upset.

"Right," Adrien said, closing the folder."Okay so the plan itself is very simple but it can easily be messed up. So we need to be careful,"

"Okay," Hugo said with caution."Can you tell me the plan?"

"Yes," Adrien said, nodding his head at a slow pace."You know Nathalie right?" After being released from the hospital, Nathalie had moved to London with her friend. He'd seen her few times but made sure to keep in touch because he hadn't realized how much he owed to her. His son's life was a big one but beyond that, there was so much more she'd sacrificed for him.

Hugo shrugged."That's Em's middle name but I don't know who that is,"

"Well Nathalie was a good friend of my father's and she used the peacock miraculous," Adrien explained.

"So she was a bad guy?" Hugo asked warily."She tried to help him kill me?"

Adrien froze, anger rising at the mention of Nathalie assisting his father to workshop his son's death."Yes. Nathalie did help my father but she fought him so you wouldn't die,"

Hugo nodded with a smile."Sounds like a badass."

"Don't curse," Adrien said even if he could easily agree.

"So what does she have to do with us proving he is actually Hawkmoth?" he asked, eyes glancing down at his ringing phone. Though he felt bad not responding to his girlfriend's worried text he had more important things to focus on at the moment.

"Nathalie was an adult when she used the peacock miraculous and is still an adult. Therefore that will prove she did work with Hawkmoth and then proving-"

"He tried to kill me," Hugo said with a smile that could only worry Adrien.

"Exactly, now we can't use a present-day miraculous since they'll ask how we got it and they'll fear Nathalie using it against them." Not that he could get his hands on the peacock miraculous anyway. Marinette kept the code secret but he had an idea it was either their wedding anniversary or one of their children's birthdays. Luckily he could allow Alix to use her miraculous and they had a straight path to the past.

Hugo nodded."Okay, so what do we do?"

"The peacock miraculous was damaged for a time and if they know that they'll trust Nathalie to use it. Now our version of it is fixed but using the bunny miraculous we can go back in time and retrieve the broken one," he explained.

"Straight forward but can easily be a fu-frick up."

"I heard that," Adrien said but nodded."Yes, but I'm not going back in time,"

"What?" Hugo asked."You don't want me to go back in time?"

"I do," Adrien said, standing up.

"What?! Dad, you can't be serious. You just told me my grandpa is in jail because he wanted to kill me and now you want me to god bak in time. Shouldn't you or mom? Your older and won't be recognized. And you know your way around that house and can get it easily,"

"I know it's scary but you're the best option Hue."

"Why?" Hugo said curiously mainly since common sense was telling him his father was a better option in comparison to him.

Adrien smiled looking down at his son, clearly able to remember this 16-year-old father to be when he was a small baby and made him a father at 18. Through the fear, he felt at that time his life had been incredible but one thing he wished was he'd had some insight into being a dad. His father never pulled him aside to tell him about anything about being a parent, he didn't want that for his son. Though things had been cold between them, he wanted to help him through the difficult next few months and then the struggle that came with being a parent, especially a young one.

"I just know,"

Hugo frowned."That isn't an answer dad,"

"I know it isn't but you just have to trust me, okay?" he asked, smiling down at the boy he used to beg to fall asleep and walk to preschool.

Hugo smiled, nodding his head."Okay dad,"
