Just a quick note I couldn't think of a name for Umi so I changed it to Mizu (water)

Amidst the dark night, with the moon shining brilliantly in the dark sky above. A small village was hidden between the mountains, all was quiet and calm.
It looked like a painters masterpiece.
It wont be long until the masterpiece will be torn and time will start moving once more. Amongst the village lay a girl, her hair a dark shade of red and eyes the most mesmerizing purple. For her to be awake at this hour was certainly dangerous, but try as she might the girl could not fall asleep.
She blamed her father for telling her scary stories before bed again. Even though she was 15, she was still like a child in some cases. After all nothing can hurt you when you're a kid. No monsters or ghouls would dare touch you. And if they tried, her parents would save her.
She had heard plenty of stories about wolves taking children from their homes and that would be the last anyone saw of them. But in her head they were harmless, just like big dogs right? why would anyone be scared of that?
Maki sighed, feeling her tiredness catch up, she finally managed to go to sleep.

Letting out a yawn, Maki stretched her arms above her head to get any numbness out. It was her turn to fetch water from a nearby lake.
"You'd think we'd just catch rainwater" she grumbled in annoyance.
To get to the lake, she'd had to go through the woods. She hated going in the woods. "Lets just get this over with..."
An hour later...
"Okay, what did mum tell me about the path again?" the red head asked herself, scratching her head. "Something like to not lose it or something" she shook her head "it probably doesn't matter" she shrugged off, carrying on with her journey.
Snap
"What was that?" she asked, stopping dead in her tracks as she looked around her.
Silence. Maki could feel her heartbeat echoing in her ears. The sudden tension in the air was almost chocking. She let out another shrug and turned back around.
"Ahhhhh!"
There. Right in front of her, was a...boy? "Huh?"
The boy tilted his head to the side, his dark blue bangs slightly covering his unusual bright golden eyes. That was normal. What Maki was actually fairly worried about was the pair of dark blue ears on top of the boy's head and the tail currently wagging behind him.
"What the?" Maki was fairly confused at this point.
The boy let out a gentle smile, and for reasons unknown, Maki could feel her cheeks heat up "sorry for scaring you" he apologized, slightly bowing his head.
Maki continued to stare at the boy, eyes never wavering.
"What? is there something on my face?" the boy asked, instinctively reaching up to his face. Which was covered by a few scars but apart from that it looked so smooth. Nothing like the boys that always flirted with her back in the village, their faces were always dirty.
"What's your name?" she demanded. Earning a shocked glance from the boy.
"Uhhh Mizu" he answered skeptically. Eyes narrowing towards the girl.
Maki stumbled backwards and coughed into her hand before reaching it out towards the boy "I'm Maki" she greeted. Letting out a small yelp when Mizu placed a gentle kiss upon it.
Snatching her hand away, Maki began to yell "w-w-w-what w-wa-was t-th-t-that?!"
Once again, the boy tilted his head to the side "what? isn't that how you greet each other?" he asked, golden eyes wandering off into the distance.
"What do you mean by 'you'?" she asked in defense, crossing her arms over her chest.
Mizu sighed, sharp teeth appearing from his mouth "anyway" he began, turning his attention back to the red head "what were you doing out here all alone?" he asked. "Surely you've heard stories about what lives in the woods?" he wondered, transferring his weight onto one leg.
"I should be asking you the same thing" Maki retorted. "I've never seen you around the village. Are you new?" she wondered.
Mizu fidgeted uncomfortably, tearing his gaze away again "you could say that..." he trailed off.
"And what's with the ears?" the red head asked, walking over and poking one for emphasis. The sudden action made the boy jump and his ears twitched from being touched. Maki stared at them in fascination, gently rubbing the smooth fur between her fingers.
"S-s-stop" Mizu squeaked out, his cheeks flushed red.
Maki stared at him in confusion, but, Mizu noticed that there was no fear in those purple eyes and he also noticed that Maki did not step back even a little. It made him feel slightly more reassured.
"To answer your question. I was going to collect water" her voice dropped and for a split second, Mizu swore there was a hint of sadness.
"Oh! may I accompany you, then?" he asked cheerfully.
Since Maki had nothing against the idea, she nodded and began walking again "uhh where are you going?" Mizu asked.
"To the lake" Maki replied as if to say did you seriously just ask me that? Mizu stared at her.
"But its that way" he stated slowly, pointing in the complete opposite direction. Maki blinked, then again.
"I knew that" she stated, sticking her nose into the air and carried on walking.
Mizu let out a little chuckle and ran to catch up to the fuming girl.

It wasn't long until they finally made it to the lake. Maki was covered in dirt and small cuts while Mizu looked no different from when they left.
Panting, Maki collapsed at the bank and started to fill her bucket with water. Mizu on the other hand, decided to sit on the grass and sigh in bliss.
"Its such a beautiful day" he breathed out, ears twitching every now and then. Maki looked up to him in annoyance.
"Is it?" she asked, her tone deadly. She walked over and sat beside the...what ever he was. "I've had to walk through a woods, met a stranger who is now following me and now I'm covered with muck and my own blood" letting out a growl, Maki leant all her weight onto the boy next to her.
Taking in what she just said, Mizu let out a little chuckle.
Closing her eyes, Maki asked "what?"
After chuckling, the wolf boy replied "well, first off, you are leaning against the 'stranger' and you let me tag along. Secondly I told you that you wouldn't make it over that tree" he chuckled again "humans are so confusing"
"And that's another thing, what are you?" she asked, her head tilting to stare at his golden orbs. Mizu hesitated before answering.
"I'm...someone who you can trust" he replied.
"That isn't exactly an answer" Maki mumbled, nuzzling against the boys soft clothes "but I'm too tired to care" she finished off.
Mizu smiled and hesitantly wrapped an arm around the red head, blushing brightly when she giggled.
Rolling over until she was directly above the wolf boy, Maki pushed against his chest until he was lying on his back. Grinning when she saw him blush.
Unable to form any words, Mizu gulped as his nervousness started to slowly rise. His heart beating erratically against his rib cage.
"I can't believe I'm doing this" Maki breathed out, leaning down until her lips were against the boys. Slowly lowering herself onto his warm body and taking his earthy but charming scent. She could feel his tense muscles under her and she gently rubbed his ears in hopes to get him to calm down.
Unnoticed by Maki, Mizu's tail was wagging furiously, showing his excitement.
Breaking apart, Maki stared deep into those piercing golden orbs. Entranced within the boys wild aura.
"You know, I don't care if you have wolf instincts, your coming home with me" Maki said seductively "lets see how wild you really are" she grinned and dashed off. Collecting her water before running back towards the village.
Mizu, still stunned, was wobbly getting up but soon found his balance and was quick to follow.
"You know they say a gentleman is simply a patient wolf"

Ihavenoidea: yeah I see what you're saying. I think I was going more for Maki's childish side rather than her tsundere side. After all it would be hilarious having a male Maki waiting for Santa xD
