The fated day finally happened, and it took Light an arm and a leg to get out of that hospital, he didn't even know how he actually managed to get out really. He had to apply for a dozen or so charities in order to help him pay for the medical bills, since he knew for certain that his loan application will be denied with his unemployment being inevitable. Fortunately, some of the charities took pity on him and offered to cover a fraction of his bills. Those fractions added up, and eventually was enough to cover it without having to pay anything, it was a miracle.

The only catch is that he had to agree to being photographed and used as a model in some charities that they will use in their campaign. From now on, his face will be used as a representative of teenage pregnancy in the country. He just hoped no one he knew saw this kind of thing, and that his clothes and makeup would be enough for him to be unrecognizable. But he was planning to move to another city anyway, so at least it would be harder for him to get recognised.

After some final check-ups and last billings, he can finally leave the hospital. The nurse placed him in a wheelchair and took him to the lobby as a standard procedure. To his surprise, Teru was waiting for him in the lobby.

"I am sorry for walking out on you before" he apologised. "I just want to think about what you said, and I was still confused."

"That is understandable" Light agreed. "But why are you here?"

Teru took the wheelchair and took him outside, on the way to the parking lot.

"I've decided as a child to become a lawyer so that I can defend the good from the evil, and when I first met you, I felt a strong desire to protect you, knowing that you are good and pure of heart" he explained. "But you revealed your identity to me, and it confused me that someone I thought to be good was in fact evil. You have committed more crimes than any of the criminals I have put to justice"

Light did not say anything.

"And yet you only kill those who are evil themselves. You killed criminals who have gotten away with their crimes, and I thought that what you did was righteous"

"Even so, I am a criminal, and I deserve to be punished" Light reminded him. "I admire your sense of justice, and I don't want to be the one to corrupt something wonderful"

Suddenly, Teru jumped to face him and held his hand.

"Please! I do not deserve such praise." Teru said. "I am now more resolved to protect you! You are my God!"

Light looked at him, like seeing him for the first time again. All of a sudden the things he chose to ignore clicked. His obsessive compulsion to keep the house clean, and be on a strict schedule, his sudden outbursts, his black and white definition of right and wrong. It was like talking to a child who can only think in absolutes. He did not like being put in such a high pedestal like that, not when he knew for a fact that he was anything but.

"I am only a man, Mikami" he told him. "Maybe you should visit a doctor about your obsessive compulsive behaviour"

Teru doubled back.

"That is not fair! I'm praising you for your actions, Light. I want to help you, and protect you at all costs. I just want to be with you…"

"What I did was wrong, Mikami. I am very remorseful for that and I don't think I'm comfortable being treated like this." Light again felt the need to escape.

"At least, let me help you! I've been nothing but good to you! I deserve to be recognized"

"I thought you were going to respect my decision?" Light reminded him.

He felt silent.

Light moved the wheelchair on his own, but turned back to look at Mikami again.

"If you want to see the ugly side of me, then be my guest" Light told him. Mikami nodded, and took control of the wheelchair again, as he led him to his car and helped him in the front seat.

Light directed him to a warehouse, where he agreed to meet the hitman and his target. Mikami was silent the entire time, and stopped when they reached their destination. He helped Light again as he left the car, and went to the door leading to the warehouse.

"You sure took your time, eh?" came the familiar voice. "This guy's nearly pissing his pants off."

Light didn't bat an eye, with cold eyes not wavering as he saw the victim tied and gagged on a chair, like a typical hostage in a movie. Mikami watched Light's face silently, seeing a different side of him.

"I had to deal with other matters" he told the hitman, and signalled for him to wake up the bound man.

Ryan jerked awake as he got hit on the face as a wake up call. The man was in tears as he pleaded for his life.

"Not so intimidating now, are you?" Light said coldly. The man recognised his voice.

"Lucas? Why are you here? Are you the one who did this?"

"I know that you are a good lawyer, even if you are scum, and you can do everything in your power to dismiss my case, even if the evidence is strong" he said while ignoring his questions. "Which is why I was forced to do it this way."

"I am going to charge you with kidnapping you know! You'll be deported back to where you came from!"

"I don't think you are in a position to threaten me" he said unperturbed with the threats. "I can kill you right now, and there will be no evidence, or you can give me what I want and get out of this without ruining your career or your life"

"What do you mean by that? if I get out of here I will make sure you rot in prison and have no more future…"

"I am Kira" he whispered in his ear, to which he let out a distinct shiver. He did not say anything after that.

Mikami was shocked at how this seemingly innocent person would quickly transform into a heartless killer that he admitted himself to be.

"Wh…what do you want?" the man asked with a genuine layer of fear this time.

"Money, of course." Light answered. "I want everything you own"

He took a paper that Mikami quickly recognised as a will. He remembered Light arranging a lot of those on his first day of working in the firm. To think that he can draft something so easily was so admirable.

"We know that you don't have any relatives that can claim your inheritance, because you made sure they lived like hell even when they are alive" Light told him almost sadistically. "It sounds more reasonable that you would donate it in a charity, so we made one that you can donate to"

Mikami could only watch as the scene unfold.

Light gave the man a pen for him to sign.

"Here, sign it" he told him. The man signed the document shakily. As soon as he did, he took it in his hand, checked to see if it was done properly, and nodded to the hitman, who immediately shot him. Light did not seem all too disturbed by this, as he still looked at the dead man with hate. He gave the signed document to the hitman.

"Give this to Mello. He will know what to do with it"

The man nodded and responded with eagerness.

"Allow me to take care of all of this, sir! Just leave it to me!"

Light smiled at him.

"I will make sure to tell Mello you get all the credit for this" he said and turned to Mikami. "Let's go home"

Mikami snapped himself to his senses, and realised that he had wet himself from what happened. He knew that the man was scum, and he deserved all of this for getting away from all of his rape charges with his influence, but this was the first time he saw someone got killed in front of his eyes, and it was something he did not expect that Light would be capable of.

He followed Light wordlessly, and assisted him back in the car. He started driving home.

"I am sorry with what happened to your pants" Light said after a minute. "I was not planning on letting someone else see my crime"

Mikami did not say anything, and just continued driving. They didn't talk until they were back home, and Mikami helped him out of the car again.

"I'm leaving tomorrow, Teru." He started. "One of the charities offered housing and I think I am going to take it. Thank you for all your help so far. I promise I'll pay you back when I…"

Mikami grabbed his face and kissed him hard.

It took a while for Light to get out of the kiss, panting heavily.

"I still like you, Light" he confessed. "But you are right, I do not deserve you"

"I don't deserve anyone" Light told him.

"But you are not evil"

"Didn't you see me just kill a guy?"

"I did, but what you did was righteous"

"Your sense of justice is flawed." Light told him. "It greatly worries me."

"Even so, I will do everything I can to protect you" he declared. "You are everything to me"

Light started to cry again. He knew for a fact that he was rotten, more than anything else. And even so, Mikami was putting him in a high pedestal, like a god.

Mikami did not care about what he did, and immediately thought of him as righteous. As he saw Light crying, he started kissing him again and wiping away his tears.

They had awkard sex after that, and Light felt so ashamed of taking advantage of a guy like that, that he left in the wee hours of the night, when he was certain that the man was asleep. He packed the few things he had gathered during his month long stay haphazardly in a bag, and hailed a taxi in the middle of the night, took a train and walked the rest of the way to where he was planning to stay for the duration of his pregnancy.

His head was not clear at that time, but he knew he had to leave, as it was slowly heading to another toxic relationship. Mikami clearly liked him, but for all the wrong reasons. He could not live with a person who could condone his faults even when they are clearly wrong, and sooner or later he feared that he would lead him to a miserable life, and he didn't want to become a burden to him this way. The only way about this is to live alone, and pay for all the crimes he committed. He could only hope that he can forgive him after all of this.

….

When Mikami woke up the next morning, he found himself alone with a note that simply asked for his forgiveness. He looked at it for a full minute, before realizing what Light had done.

He felt frustrated for being left like that, after what he thought was a productive night. He never felt so happy before, and he thought that Light was beginning to understand how much he loved him. When he saw him cry the only thing he thought he can do was kiss him and make him feel better. He was encouraged by the fact that Light did not resist his advances, even when he started touching him all over his body.

After a while, he kissed back, and Mikami felt so excited with his feelings getting returned that he kissed harder, as his hands explored further down. There was no resistance when he took off Light's clothes, as he proceeded kissing his chest while he took off his own clothes. He briefly sucked on his nipples, to which Light suppressed a moan. That only encouraged him to play with it even more, until it grew hard and pink.

"Teru!" he breathed. Light was covering his face the entire time as he felt all the sensations he did not feel in such a long time. He knew he should not be doing it, but he had been deprived for so long, and the admiration bordering on obsession has gotten into him more than he could admit.

The older man took it as a sign to go further, licking down his chest to his belly button, which was clearly protruded now thanks to his baby bump. Teru kissed his stomach, holding it with both hands before proceeding to go down to suck him off.

"Ahhhh" he moaned again as Teru's mouth enveloped his throbbing erection, kissing and licking him enthusiastically. It did not take long for him to come, as embarrassing as it was, on Teru's mouth.

"Please tell me you didn't swallow…"

His concern was interrupted as Teru kissed him, confirming that he indeed did what he was hoping not to do, as he tasted his come still on the older man's mouth. Light felt his cheeks turn red soon after, as he desperately held on to the man who started fingering him.

"Teru…." He said. "Stop…I don't know if I can…with my stomach being so big…"

"I can only see something beautiful, Light." He said as he kissed his stomach once again, as he took some lube on his desk and started caressing Light's ass.

"Ahhh…."

He positioned himself carefully as he started inserting his own length in Light, carefully thrusting in small strides, until he can fully insert his whole erection into him. It proved more difficult with Light's baby bump in the way, but he managed to after some attempts.

"Teru…" Light could only grab the sheets as Teru straddled his legs, finding a rhythm that was comfortable for them, and gradually quickened the pace. He felt himself growing more excited as the movements became faster, and he was nearing completion when he heard a different name being called out instead of his.

"Ryuu.."

It was a bit similar to his name, but he could not help but distinguish its difference. Light realized it too, and started to feel horrible.

"I am sorry…" Light said desperately. "I did not mean to…"

"Is that the name of your ex?" Mikami demanded as he pulled out, feeling frustrated as he looked at the sorry face of the younger man.

"I'm sorry, Teru. I don't know what else to say…" Light cried.

Suddenly, a strong urge overwhelmed him that he grabbed Light's legs again, and inserted himself fully into him, thrusting roughly and not minding the other's screams of pain.

"I'm sorry! Ahhh….Please stop…Teru…" Light screamed as he felt himself get violated, not sure if it was partly his fault, but could not react to him completely as the pain took control of his senses.

Mikami soon came inside him and again pulled out, proceeding to kiss Light's neck. The young man could not face him, as he cried in pain and betrayal.

"I'm sorry, Light. I did not know what happened" Mikami cried too as he continued kissing him. "You're mine now, I won't hurt you. I'm going to protect you…I promise…I'm sorry" he said this like a mantra as his kisses were not doing anything to ease the pain. Soon, Mikami realised that the boy had passed out.

"I'm sorry Light…" he continued as he himself fell asleep from exhaustion.

Teru could remember it clearly, even when it happened last night, and realised that perhaps Light was right about his obsession. A wave of guilt consumed him as he could only conclude to himself that it was all his fault that Light left him, and that he broke his trust just because he could not control his emotions.

He broke down in tears as he held on to the only thing left of Light, a letter saying goodbye to him.
